We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Any trip canceled before 24 hours in advance will be refunded in full. Our captains assess the weather on the day of the scheduled activity. If they determine that the trip will be unsafe, the trip will be postponed or canceled. We will immediately try to reschedule our guests’ activity if possible, but we will issue full refunds if need be.

Schooner Hindu, one of the oldest, most historic wooden schooners in the Florida Keys, has been sailing out of P-Town since 1946. Built in 1925, Hindu is undergoing a top to bottom historic restoration just in time for her 100 th anniversary. We are very lucky that so many days here in Key West look exactly like the beautiful photos and video you see on our website & other marketing materials. However, you should be aware that all of our water adventures are outdoors and influenced by Mother Nature. Many days underwater visibility is 80+ feet and teeming with sea life; others are not. Though we hope that every day is perfect, we are not in control of the wind, waves, clouds, rain or underwater sea life. If we are aware of any concerning factors regarding conditions, we will make an announcement before your trip departs. At that time, you may elect to take the tour, reschedule or receive a refund.

Yes, life jackets are onboard for everyone in case of emergency.

We provide water and a snack bar for purchase for the duration of the tour. Sodas are $2 and a selection of chips, peanuts, crackers and cookies for $1. You are more than welcome to bring lunch and snacks–just no glass containers, please.

Yes! Fury operates 365 days a year. Be sure to check out our  Special Trips & Events  to see if we are running any special Holiday trips.

Fury Water Adventures does not operate in unsafe weather conditions, but a light rain shower is not a deterrent. The Captain will assess the weather and should the Captain determine that the conditions are unsafe to run the tour, the tour may be postponed or it will be canceled. If a trip is canceled by Fury Water Adventures for any reason, every effort will be made to reschedule the trip during your stay in Key West. If you are unable to reschedule, you will have the option of receiving a voucher for a future trip or receiving a full refund.  Every effort will be made to run tours, as advertised. Should Fury have to amend or alter your tour due to extraneous circumstances, tickets remain non-refundable on tours taken.

All cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to your trip’s scheduled departure time. To place a cancellation, please call 1-888-976-0899 or email [email protected] and refer to the confirmation number at the top of your confirmation document. Failure to place a cancellation at least 24 hours in advance will result in your credit card being charged the full amount of the reserved. No refunds will be issued for reservations cancelled within 24 hours of departure, unless reservation refund protection was purchased. Please note that failure to show for the reserved trip  without cancellation will result in no refund. If a trip is cancelled by Fury Water Adventures® for any reason, every effort will be made to reschedule the trip during your stay in Key West. If you are unable to reschedule, you will have the option of receiving a voucher for a future trip or receiving a refund.

Fury has a 24 hour notice cancellation policy to receive a refund. Guests can purchase Reservation Refund Protection for a 10% fee to be eligible to cancel or transfer tickets up to 1 hour prior to their scheduled departure. All you have to do is email a request to [email protected] no later than 1 hour in advance of your reservation time.

Reservation refund protection fees are 100% non-refundable in the event of any cancellation or reservation change.

Most Fury tours will require the minor guest’s  natural parent be present at check in to sign them in. Please call 888-976-0899 for specific policy details for your preferred tour.

Fury allows service animals only. A service animal is any dog that has been trained to perform tasks to benefit an individual.  The work performed must be directly related to the individuals disability.  According the ADA service animals for emotional support, therapy, comfort or companionship are not considered service animals.

The guest requiring the service animal must be in possession of the animal at all times. Due to the nature of Fury tours,  guest and service animal  may  be required to remain on the boat for the entirety of the tour . This is to ensure the guest’s safety as well as that of the service animal, Key West wildlife, other guests, captain and crew.

Experience the Key West National Wildlife Refuge as the day winds down but the birds are just getting dinner started.

As the light fades, it becomes dinner time for the hunting birds who take advantage of the fact that it’s now harder for their prey, the fish, to see them.

Your guide will take their time to help you explore and learn about the amazing ecosystem that is a mangrove hammock forest.

Don’t just blindly go for a snorkel, go for a guided snorkel with a crew member who spends their days learning the habitat “like the back of their hand” you might even say.

Like all of our trips, great snorkel gear and free wetsuits in the winter.

This Kayaking Tour and susnet sail takes place on our 42′ Sailing Catamaran

Our boat is modified to be able to access the best kayaking and snorkeling grounds for our trips. Plus our small group sizes means lots of space for your group!

Perfect for Active Couples and Families

Our Sunset Sail featuring a kayaking tour of the mangroves and a snorkeling tour are suitable for begginers, and for most the exertion level is similar to a brisk walk in the woods.

Keep in mind that you are always welcome to hang out on the boat while others snorkel and kayak. It is your vacation and you should enjoy it however you want!

For our kayaks, we use tandem kayaks that can support up to 450 pounds between the two occupants. The seats are decently comfortable and have some support for your lower back , but keep in mind that you may be sitting in the kayak for around an hour, and it’s definitely not a lazy boy.

To sum it up, most of our guests participate in Key West kayaking and have an excellent time and if you are concerned you can always make your decision right up to the last second, it does not affect any of our planning!

What can we See

Most of the time is spent in the Key West National Wildlife Refuge for both the kayaking and snorkeling portions.

• Tropical fish like angelfish, wrasse, damselfish etc. and game fish species like tarpon, barracuda grouper and snapper.
• Sponges, Crabs, Lobsters Moray Eels
• 249 Species of Birds (Visit the refuge throughout the year)
• Common Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins
• Green, hawskbill, loggerhead or keps ridley Sea Turtles

Sightings vary, Tips for Parents : set expectations low for young kids!

Small children are also welcome on this trip, but parents should note that while our boat is safe and Coast Guard certified, it is less contained than our other boat, SQUID. So, if your toddler has a habit of sprinting off when you’re not looking, you might prefer SQUID and the Dolphin Watch + Snorkel . These details are provided to ensure you have all the information you need, and you’re always welcome to message us with specific questions.

Please Bring your Personal Effects.

• You do not need to bring anything special for your kayaking tour. We provide all the safety equipment and paddling gear that you might need.
• For guided snorkeling, we have all the gear too, but once again, you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. PS. If you are purchasing gear for you trip, you do not need to! Ours is great quality. If you have a silicone skirt mask that you love then it could make sense to bring it along. Fins can be a pain and not worth the effort though!

Snacks or drinks

• We serve organic fresh fruit and veggies and hummus on this trip.
• You are welcome to pack extra snacks if you would like
• Adult beverages (BYOB) are welcome for after the snorkeling activities and kayaking.

Coolers with space and Ice for Drinks

• We are happy to put any of your adult beverages on ice for you. If they are acloholic we are actually required to serve them to you.

Sun Protection: Sunglasses Sunscreen (Sun Shirts are By Far the best for sun protection. we have some for sale onboard in summer months, but we may not have your size in stock) Hats (Also sold on board)

Warm Clothes It can be chilly in the winter, especially on this sunset sail after you got wet snorkeling and kayaking! While 70 degrees can feel warm on land it can feel much colder at sea! Please bring Layered Clothing like Fleeces, Windbreakers or Rain Jackets you won’t regret it if you don’t need them, but if you do you will be very happy you brought them.

Swimming Swim Suit Beach or bath Towels We provide high quality snorkel gear, but if you have gear you love you are welcome to bring it.

We weren’t disappointed. I’m so glad we went with the small group tour that allowed us to ask lots of questions and really learn about the Keys ecosystem. "We took the 6 hour excursion on August 1st, 2022 and could not have been more pleased with our adventure. The trip included sailing out on a large and comfortable catamaran and enjoying a day of kayaking, snorkeling, dolphin watching and a vegetarian lunch served on board. We saw dolphins within the first hour of our trip and it set the tone for the remainder of the trip. We strive to make your booking experience as flexible and accommodating as possible. Understanding that plans can change, we offer a generous cancellation policy and optional trip insurance for when flexibility is paramount.

Cancellation Policy:

Free Cancellation up to 6 Days: You can cancel or reschedule your trip at no charge up to 6 days (144 hours) prior to the departure time.

Within 6 Days: We cannot allow cancellations or rescheduling within 6 days of your trip. This policy applies regardless of when the booking was made.

Optional Trip Insurance:

Added Flexibility: For added peace of mind, we offer optional cancellation insurance that can be added to your booking during purchase. This insurance allows you to cancel or reschedule your trip for any reason, right up to the moment of departure.

Rescheduling: If you choose to reschedule, this will be subject to availability, ensuring we can accommodate your new preferred time without impacting other guests.

We recommend considering our cancellation insurance to cover unexpected changes such as illness or other unforeseen events. This option provides you with flexibility and ensures that you can enjoy your experience with us without worry.

While our tours are designed to be inclusive, accommodating guests of all ages, the specific activities featured, such as snorkeling or kayaking, may vary in accessibility and physical demands.

Please note that entering the kayaks, or ocean for snorkeling require a degree of mobility to manage entry and exit.

Pets Policy

While we are dog lovers and understand the joy pets bring to families, we must prioritize the comfort and safety of all our guests as well as the preservation of our boats. Therefore, pets are not allowed on our regular eco tours due to the potential for increased wear and tear and because not all guests may be comfortable around animals.

Private Charters: For those who wish to bring their family pet on an adventure, we offer the option on private charters. You can include your pet for an additional fee of $75, ensuring that everyone in the family gets to enjoy the experience together.

Thank you for understanding our need to balance the interests of all our guests and the maintenance of our vessels.

BYOB Alcohol Guidelines:

Beer and Wine Welcome: Guests are welcome to bring beer or wine aboard for consumption after the tours activities. For safety and compliance with Coast Guard regulations, please present your beverages to the crew during boarding. Our crew will serve you to ensure both passenger safety and compliance with federal laws.

Glass and Hard Liquor: For the safety of all on board, we ask that you avoid bringing glass beer bottles. We also recommend avoiding hard liquor, as it can be challenging to monitor effects, especially in combination with heat and physical activity.

Consumption Monitoring: The crew reserves the right to restrict alcohol consumption to maintain a safe and family-friendly environment.

Smoking Policy:

No Smoking or Vaping: To ensure the health and comfort of all our passengers, smoking cigarettes, cigars, or vaping is not permitted during the tour.

Federal Regulations on Marijuana: Please note that despite state laws, as a federally regulated vessel, we must adhere to federal laws that prohibit the use of marijuana in any form aboard.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Punctuality

To ensure timely departures and respect for all our guests, please arrive at the boat and be ready to board 20 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. Regrettably, we cannot delay departure for guests who arrive late and are unable to offer refunds or reschedule missed trips unless trip insurance was purchased.

Parking availability varies significantly depending on the time of year and time of day. During peak periods, such as holidays, finding parking can be particularly challenging. To avoid stress and ensure a relaxed start to your adventure, we recommend allowing ample time to park. The area around the dock is scenic and worth exploring, so arriving early offers the added bonus of potentially spotting fish or manatees!

Information on Parking

Traffic in town is generally manageable, but if you’re traveling from Miami, be aware that delays are possible, especially if there’s an accident on US1. To mitigate potential delays, we highly recommend considering our optional trip insurance, which allows for last-minute changes to your plans without penalty, please review trip insurance, reschedules are based on availability.

Guarantee Details:

Over the years, we’ve spent a lot of time exploring Florida’s West Coast … from the Dry Tortugas in the Keys to Tampa Bay.  Here are some of our favorite anchorages.

Dayhop the Southwest Florida Coast to the Keys!

I hope someone finds this information useful and we’ll add to it as we explore north of the Charlotte Harbor Florida Coast (i.e. north of Punta Gorda which is just north of Ft Myers).

We are doing our best to make it down there but looks like there won’t be time to explore before we have to turn this boat over to the owners. Hopeing to leave Monday morning for a 2 day to Tampa.

Very timely. We are in Matecumbe Bight and plan to leave for Cape Sable on Wed.

Wish we were headed to Cape Sable… we’ve never gotten to anchor there… yet. The wind’s always been in the wrong direction. We’re hopeful this year. 🙂

That is exactly what Sue and I plan to do this year – leaving from our current location in Long Beach, Ms. all the way down. I hit a lot of those places on the way up last year and really enjoyed it. Take care.

Hi again. So glad you share your ventures. Curious…going from Everglades to Marathon is there a channel? We have 6.3′ and am looking for a shorter way than going cleat around keys from east coast to west coast though. Thanks for a response in advance.

Hi Cheryl – Moser Channel goes through and under 7 Mile Bridge at Marathon. Other than that, no channel really, but it should be doable. We’ve never had any trouble, but we draw 5.5′. Check your charts to be sure. Cheers! Jan

Hello Jan, just wondering if you are still monitoring this blog? My wife Susan and I are planning a nearly identical trip this winter. We are from Michigan and brought our Seaward 32RK down to Largo at the Island Packet facility for some upgrades and repairs last September. Planning on a month long trip to the Keys with many visitation stops along the way in Feb and Mar. Have a few questions regarding the Intercoastal as far as depths and mast height restrictions along the way. Hoping you are still around and thank you.

Hi David! We just bought a trawler & are planning to start The Great Loop soon from Bradenton, so we’ll be headed down Florida’s West Coast. We’re still trying to get the boat ready to go (new anchor chain/rode, updated charts, etc) so not sure exactly when, but soon! Ask away – hopefully I’ll be able to answer your questions. Cheers! Hello Jan and thank you for your response! Didn’t think you were still monitoring this blog (I was looking for an email). Have been putting together some route planning possibilities and returned to this blog to compare. Low and behold your anchorages between Marco/Sanibel area and the Keys are the two I found possible. What was the draft of Winterlude and how far in towards the mainland were you able to get? Or, is it even worth it? I do not want to do a 90 mile trip arriving in the Keys (Marathon or Key West) near or at dark, so anchoring is necessary. What was the bug situation and did you feel safe and secure in both areas? Although we have done a number of Caribbean charters and sailed extensively on the Great Lakes we are new to this area. Concerning the inside route when used, are the mile markers an accurate way for time planning? Thank you again for responding, my wife Susan may join in with some questions as well.

Hi Jan, David, and Susan – others We too will be sailing Florida’s West Coast. Our journey will take us south down the coast to the Keys. Then from the Keys north back to MD. This will be our first trip taking this route. We have just completed our very first navigation south down the ICW from MD and across the Okeechobee. Our concerns: best weather for sailing the Gulf (wind from east vs west), anchoring – what is available/safe after Irma (our draft is 5’8”, but we say 6’), how far off shore should we sail, what route to take – would like to take Moser Channel/7 Mile Bridge to Marathon (deep enough?), these are some of our questions/concerns. We would greatly appreciate any assistance/in-put (Jan, David, Susan or other readers). Please feel free to contact us anytime.

Hi DH! Can’t answer all your questions, but we had a 5.5′ draft & you saw our dayhop route in the post. We did sail down Moser Channel – shallow but we made it several times. Weather? We watch for waves/swell – particularly the period — i.e. the time BETWEEN the waves. Our rule of thumb was that if the period matched the wave height, we were going to get slammed & didn’t go. The period between waves should be much longer than the wave height. And remember, the wave height in the forecast is only for the average, the biggest waves you’ll see will be another half as big. So if the forecast calls for 3-5, remember you’ll likely see some that are 4.5 – 7.5. Watch the period between waves. Anytime the wind goes west, there’s usually a norther behind it, so we generally prefer fair weather with easterly breezes, but not always. Good luck, be safe & enjoy! Cheers! Jan
