NA HOKU 3 is our brand new catamaran located in front of Duke’s Restaurant, departing directly off of the sandy shores of Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Oahu.

NA HOKU 2 has retired from the beach and is now located at Kewalo Basin Harbor Slip F23!

Our breezy adventure cruises include complimentary drinks and will take you to the most beautiful spots, where you can marvel at Diamond Head or see an amazing Hawaiian sunset. With seating for up to 49 guests, including a splash action net area, get ready for some fun – you will likely get splashed! This was a great experience. This sail is very calm and relaxing and a completely different experience from the trade wind sails, where you expect to get tossed around and get wet. The crew was very friendly and attentive. The sunset was gorgeous, even though it was overcast all day. My wife and I now prefer this sail over the trade winds sails we have done in the past. This is the best deal in Waikiki. Was there for a week and went on this cruise three times. ~$30 for one hour sail with open bar. So, you can sit in a hotel bar and nurse one drink or be on the ocean enjoying amazing views, listen to lively music and chug down multiple drinks. No brainer. Shout out to Dustin for the amazing sailing experience.

This was a total blast! The guys running the boat were friendly and entertaining. The sites were phenomenal. The sea life is gorgeous. And the drinks were very good. I booked a second trip, can’t wait to sale again!

CANCELLATION POLICY

Guests will receive a full refund only with a minimum 24-hour notice of cancellation. Full refunds are also issued in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

During the slower seasons and typically the morning sails, tour cancellations can occur due to a minimum requirement of 6 booked guests. In these rare situations, guests are always given the option to rebook or refund. If you are concerned about your tour, please call with any questions.

Guests wishing to rebook or reschedule must give 24 hours notice. Contact us by phone directly to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows and guests canceling within 24 hours of departure will be charged full price .*Groups of 20 or larger are required to give 72-hour notice to cancel or modify bookings.

MAITAʻI CATAMARAN

The amazing Maitaʻi Catamaran is an ocean adventure, sight-seeing tour and party all in one. This “state of the art”, twin hulled, 45 foot catamaran seats 49 passengers comfortably. United States Coast Guard inspected and certified, the Maita’i is ultra-safe and a great time for the entire family.

Maitaʻi offers a variety of sailings for you to choose from. Enjoy the Island sun and scenery on one of our Tradewind sails. Watch the Oahu coast roll by as the wind fills the sails on a journey you’ll remember a lifetime.

Looking for something a bit more romantic? Try our Sunset Maitai Sail or Maita’i Fireworks Sail. Have a Maitai or one of the other refreshments from our bar while you watch the sun or moon set slowly into the horizon, closing another wonderful day in paradise.

This was by far the best catamaran we have been on! The staff is AMAZING. The crew is so helpful and funny. They make you feel like your part of their crew for sure. We loved spending time on the water and hearing all they had to say about the islands and animals. The captain was great! We will be doing this again!

We saw a sea turtle and a group of dolphins followed us for a while and did some "tricks". No whales on this trip but the crew made the experience fun by telling jokes and talking about the animals.

I can't say enough nice things about our trip on the Makani Catamaran! The staff were warm and friendly, the drinks we're tasty and the views were breathtaking. We had the opportunity to stand in the Captain's Galley and take photos. Captain Jon was so accommodating and thoughtful - he even offered to take our picture. This is one experience you do not want to miss out on! Highly recommend.

The boat was in great shape, staff was very professional and committed to safety. I appreciated that more than anything. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone visiting the Island, the views are well worth it. Great value trip!

So, full disclosure I was pretty skeptical that this would be fun at all. In fact, this was totally my wifes idea. That said, of all the things we did in Hawaii, this ended up being one of my favorites. We had been doing pushing ourselves pretty hard for several days up to this point and it was just really nice to sit back for a couple hours with drinks in hand and hang out as a family. We sat on the netting in the front and our 9,7, and 5 year old kids thought it was awesome to watch the water go by underneath and at one point even had some dolphins following us. 100% would suggest and will definitely do again.

I am so happy that I booked this during our trip to Hawaii. The crew was nice, hospitable, and very engaging. They made the sail super fun for everyone on board. Our captain was even able to show us sea turtles and a whale, even though we were not promised that when booking! Plus there was a full service bar and the drinks were awesome! I would definitely recommend to everyone. It is definitely worth it.

Discover the beautiful views of the ocean, local wildlife, the iconic east side of Oahu, and the sun dipping into the sea as you join us on a private catamaran cruise in Waikiki . We’ll depart from Kewalo Basin Harbor located in Honolulu and make our way up the coastline to Diamond Head, making stops along the way for any turtles, dolphins, or whales we may spot during our journey.

Once at the top of our route, we will find a calm anchorage to relax at and enjoy the Hawaii sunset. Guests are welcome to join me for guided snorkeling and swimming or just dip their toes in the water as we soak in the beautiful afternoon. Lastly, we will watch the sunset in the ocean as we head back to the harbor.

The vessel is exclusively reserved for your party so you are welcome to play your own music and bring any refreshments you would like to enjoy during our time together. I’ll happily be sharing my local knowledge and the cultural history of the area we are traveling in throughout the cruise. There is no better way to end the day!

Booked the sunset catamaran for our family. Can not say enough amazing things about the boat, crew, and service they provided. They were very patient with 2 kids snorkeling, answered all our questions, and we even got to see dolphins. Such a wonderful experience, definitely a must do experience in Oahu! Best thing we did on the islands! Crew was very knowledgeable about the island. We snorkeled with sea turtles and fish. A pod of dolphins unexpectedly joined us on our sunset cruise. I was just lovely. Would 10000% recommend.

This was our second time using Hawaii Ocean Charters we had Captain Sam whom we had in the fall of 2022 and Nick as well. Sam remembered us from our trip in the fall. We were greeted with warm welcomes and after a brief safety refresher we were on our way. We stopped to swim for a little bit. They gave my daughter a mask so she could dive down and see all the fish. They really do a great job to make sure everyone is comfortable and both Sam and Nick were super personable. I would highly recommend using them. If you don’t want to mess with a bunch of strangers on a sunset catamaran this is certainly the way to go.

We had a great sunset cruise! it was so nice having the entire catamaran to ourselves. We could sit upfront on the nets (with a bean bag to support our backs no less) or go up top with the captain for great views and conversation. The crew was great, and we will definitely be doing this tour again next time we are in Waikiki.

The Holokai departs from the beach for all of our sails, so be sure to bring footwear that you can easily slip on and off! The specific beach for arrival and departure changes depending on the tides to ensure a safe boarding, so keep in mind that the departure spot may change and might not always be right outside the hotel. The walk down to the beach may take from 5 to 10 minutes, a maximum of 0.3 miles down to the boat.

Any guests with mobility issues or are a slower walker will have to let us know after or before you book, so we can make the appropriate accommodations.

Waikiki Sunrise Cruise

Begin your day at the same time as the beautiful Hawaiian sun! If you are on vacation, take advantage of how easy it is to wake up early from jet lag and join us for a sunrise cruise! Watch the light from the sun dance across the water along the Waikiki coastline. This adventure is a 2.5-hour tour that runs from Ala Wai Harbor toward Hawaii Kai and back. Relax as you take in the beauty of Waikiki from the water with your friends or family and create memories that will last forever.

Many guests have been lucky to encounter green sea turtles, Hawaiian monk seals, Hawaiian spinner dolphins, and humpback whales (in the winter). During your charter, you will have the opportunity to snorkel at the famous Turtle Canyon if you would like to! There you can witness green sea turtles having their beautiful shells cleaned by schools of blueline surgeonfish, or relax and swim right in front of Waikiki Beach with a gorgeous white sandy bottom as you enjoy the soft morning light at sunrise.

What to expect on a snorkel trip in Hawaii

WHERE TO GO

We offer snorkeling at both the South and North shores of Oahu. That way you know there is always a snorkeling option near you. Try one spot and then if you love it, join us for a new experience on the other side of the island!

Whether you want to explore the ocean outside of Waikiki or dive off the beautiful North Shore, you will have the chance to swim with sea turtles, reef fish, and other surprise wildlife!

After booking you will receive a confirmation email with details on exactly where to meet us and what to bring for your adventure.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE BOAT & OUR CREW

Our top priority is to provide our guests with a unique and exclusive experience. We want you to be able to ditch the large crowded boats that take up to 30+ people snorkeling together. Instead, our boat only takes a maximum of six people. That way we can give each person individual attention, leading to a safer and more engaging experience.

Each of our crew members is an experienced waterman/woman and is experienced and knowledgeable about Hawaii’s ocean life. We will be there to answer your questions about the animals, conditions, and snorkeling.

We offer trips on both our 21ft Boston Whaler and our more luxurious 42ft Lagoon Catamaran. Both boats are perfect for enjoying the waters along Oahu’s scenic coast.

Once on board, the crew will provide each person with a mask, fins, and snorkel. All you need to bring is a swimsuit and be ready for fun!

If you are wanting to document your adventure, ask us about adding on a photo or video package for your trip!

BOAT SAFETY & SNORKEL BRIEFING

How do you snorkel? Is snorkeling scary for non-swimmers? How long do you need to hold your breath for snorkeling? What will I see when snorkeling in Hawaii? What’s the point of snorkeling? Don’t Worry! Our crew is there to help answer your questions and curb any fears you might have before getting in the water.

The team can also go over more advanced snorkeling techniques for those who have had ample practice snorkeling prior to the trip.

On our way to the snorkel site, the crew will also go over the safety features of the vessel and emergency procedures. We want you to have the safest and most enjoyable time aboard.

THE BOAT RIDE TO YOUR SNORKELING SITE

As we drive out to the best snorkeling sites in Oahu you can enjoy the epic views! Oahu is one of the most beautiful islands in Hawaii. The coastline boats have beautiful white sand beaches, luxurious oceanfront hotels, and luscious green mountains.

Join us for snorkeling in Waikiki where you can enjoy views of the Downtown skyline and Diamond Head Crater. Check out our sunset or fireworks cruise here .

Or take a cruise down the quieter side of the island and watch Mt. Ka’ala and the famous Seven Mile Miracle of surf breaks on the North Shore on the way to snorkeling.

SNORKELING IN HAWAII

Once we arrive at our site the crew will help you get ready to hop in the water. Our trips are guided snorkel tours. There will be a diver in the water with you to ensure your safety but also point out any interesting wildlife.

Upon entering the water, you will be greeted by fish, turtles, and other underwater creatures. Our crew will explain the best ways to interact with the wildlife we are viewing so that you can have the best snorkel possible.

WHAT YOU WILL SEE SNORKELING IN HAWAII Of course, we can never guarantee exactly what might swim by on your snorkel but we have chosen the best dive sites on Oahu to give you the highest chances of seeing everything Hawaii has to offer!

Hawaii hosts an abundance of reef fish species. Many of these are only found in Hawaii and nowhere else in the world!

Common species we see include:

Black Triggerfish – all-black fish with an intricate green pattern on the face.

Whitebar Surgeonfish – Shallow reef fish sort of brown in color with a white stripe of bar running vertically just behind the head.

Racoon Butterflyfish – Yellow and Black fish with a black mask across its face.

Bluespine Unicornfish – All blueish, green with a small horn on the front of its head.

Hawaiian Chub – All grey fish are often found swimming at the surface.

State Fish (Humuhumunukunukuapuaha) – A triggerfish often living just above the reef. Mostly orange with a yellow “V” along its back.

Green Sea Turtles are some of the most exciting animals we might encounter on our snorkels! The turtles are often curious of people and hang out along the reef where they eat seaweed and get their shells cleaned by small reef fish.

While they often spend time along the bottom, every few minutes they have to come up for air where we can get a closer look!

HOW CLOSE CAN I GET? We always want to give the wildlife their space and view them from a respectful distance. Giving the turtles a few feet of space often lets them feel more comfortable and they will likely spend more time with us. If they come up closer to us, we will stay still and watch them until they are ready to swim away. We never chase or harass wildlife!

DO NOT TOUCH THE TURTLES Not only is it illegal, but touching the turtles can disturb their behavior and cause them to be fearful of humans in the future. If you cannot follow the rules we reserve the right to remove you from the water.

Sometimes we get extra lucky and encounter eels, small sharks, eagle rays, dolphins, or Hawaiian monk seals! These species are never guaranteed but always super exciting if they swim by.

Great time snorkeling with this crew! We saw a lot of fish and many sea turtles. My daughter loved jumping off the side of the boat over and over! Drinks were great too!

My husband and I had a wonderful time on the 2:30 Sunset Cruise. The guys sailing us out were super nice. It was beautiful on the water, and we even saw a turtle in the water! The Mai Tai drinks they had on board, were actually the best we had the entire trip. I would defiantly recommend this experience! P.S. you could get soaked...we did :-)

So much fun! One of the more affordable sunset cruises and 100% worth it. The workers on the boat were friendly and upbeat and did a great job of cultivating a fun vibe. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

This was a great experience. We went on the morning snorkel tour and had a fantastic time! The boat comes right to the beach at Waikiki. The people were fantastic!!! We saw 3 turtles and lots of fish at turtle canyon.

We did the Diamond Head Tour and had a great time. This is a 90 min tour with sails up. Captain and crew were great. Great views of Waikiki and Diamond Head from the boat. The Manu Kai is small enough that you really felt the waves and were really sailing. Crew were manning the sails but still had time to make sure you had mai tais. Overall a great time and highly recommend.

Well worth the money. Great crew, drinks included. Plenty of room on the boat. Friendly atmosphere. Bring a camera or iPhone, maybe a sweatshirt for after sunset. Expect to have a great time for $40.00. Definitely would go again.

We chose Manu Kai for the mid morning turtle snorkel at Turtle Canyon and had a terrific time. We saw plenty of turtles and fish and enjoyed the professional but casual, laid back vibe of the crew. Jess in particular was outstanding (with a background in marine biology). Post our snorkel we headed towards Diamond Head for a great view of the beach and were lucky enough to see dolphins at play. A great morning trip.

Awesome experience all around! The crew was top notch, very friendly, helpful and I had 5 kids with me and always felt everyone was safe. We saw so many beautiful fish and turtles. I had a turtle swim 5 feet from me! Definitely a high point of our trip. 10/10 recommend Waikiki Sailing Company, you won't be disappointed.

Despite some confusion on the actual meeting point (address given is different from instructions sent by travel agent)... this turned out to be a great excursion. We arrived to the actual boat slip at the marina (because we didn't read for detail!) when we should've met the boat/crew at the beach. The crew offered to let us ride with them to the beach instead of pay for another Uber to get us to the correct meeting location. Once we got all the other passengers loaded and briefed we sailed over to the snorkeling spot. The water was sooooo choppy and several people 'fed the fishes,' one before we even got off the catamaran to snorkel. The crew members stayed very aware of that person's condition and tried to help as much as possible. One crew member realized that the person wasn't getting any better and looked to be dehydrated. We ended up cutting our trip short due to that person being sick. Before leaving, we had about 45 minutes to snorkel. We saw the gorgeous reef below us, LOTS of different kinds of fish, and a couple sea turtles. They were beautiful and it would have been more than amazing to see more than we did -- but we can't control Mother Nature! It was a great experience with a great captain and crew! I would definitely recommend this excursion with this crew!

Really enjoyed the sunset sail with this crew! The guys on board were friendly, loved the reggae music playing and fun vibe. Got beautiful views of Waikiki beach, diamond head, and they even took us to see a few dolphins along the way! The boat didn't have as much seating room as other catamarans, so if a big group is on board like there was for us, it will be tight. Also would have been nice to have some drink options, but I was aware of this when booking. I would definitely recommend a trip with them!

Had a blast on the catamaran with my Family. Went out and saw a beautiful sunset, the crew was awesome and will definitely go again when we come back. Five stars for sure!!!

Nice crew, professional and helpful whenever my son needed help and/or adjustments with his gear. Although we didn't get to see as many turtles and different kinds of fish as we wanted to, it was still a nice experience, especially for my son. Would recommend.

Everyone in the crew is absolutely the best they were all friendly, helpful and very experienced. The boat was small but that was a perk because our tour was not large so it was much more intimate. We were able to see several turtles while snorkeling and several fish that were swimming all around. Several other tours were around us as well but everyone was respectful and stayed with their groups. The snorkeling gear was clean and worked very well. Two of the crew were in the water with us and had surf boards so if you aren't the strongest swimmer they were always there to help. The front of the boat is a caged nylon strap that you can sit on which was so fun and we sat on that on the way back getting wet and enjoying refreshments we had brought on board. Overall great experience and would recommend!

This was the most fun ever! The crew is super funny, nice and welcoming. We saw so many turtles which was a surreal experience. Where they take you is full of sea life and you get a gorgeous view of the skyline as well. I can't recommend this tour enough!! One tip - bring a GoPro and some water! I wasn't able to capture any of the turtles since I only brought my phone.

Very relaxing, nice people, left and arrived on time. Two hours is perfect for this activity. The boat left from a great location on Waikiki Beach, just a very short walk from our hotel (Moana Surfrider). Smallish catamaran was the perfect size for a snorkeling trip. You don't want too many people snorkeling and competing for the same spot in the water. Other boats in the "turtle canyon" area were bigger and had many more people in the water at the same time creating a lot of interference while they were trying to snorkel. Our boat was just right so we didn't have that problem. They supplied the snorkel gear which consisted of a snorkel and a mask plus a floater belt. I asked for swim fins and they had a pair for me but they really weren't necessary. I wouldn't use the fins next time. I really was glad we booked with them. I'd use them again if we ever decide to do the same activity in the future. Good value. They weren't over the top about tipping either although there was a jug if you wanted to leave a tip. No pressure at all. 5 stars from me!

The snorkeling was nice!!!! The agitated ocean made the water a little cloudy, but even so we were able to see 3 turtles and a lot of fish. The crew was friendly, the captain Jenna was nice and explain all the safety information before we entered the water. The only sad point is the quantity of people snorkeling at the same spot at the same time. I felt sorry for the turtles, who sometimes couldn't get to the surface because of them, some of these people only care to be closest as possible to the turtles, doesn't matter what or who are in their way. I think could have more regulations or less people around the reef.

Truely an amazing time. Not that there is ever a bad sunset on the island but seeing it from a catamaran with the sea water splashing on your feet is something spectacular. I'm sure there are a few other outfits that do sunset cruises but the you add the price of the cruise, location to downtown hotels, and crew you come up with the Mana Kai 2 Highly

Our group shared a solemn gathering to bid a final farewell to a great man. The charter crew provided us the perfect attitude for the occasion. They were very professional and provided us with the utmost respect. Lastl ... y, the widow of the deceased is a Japanese woman that traveled all the way from Japan for the occasion. She has expressed her deepest gratitude for the service provided. I'm absolutely certain she will be forever grateful. Thank you to Jake and Travis for their outstanding services.

Do i need to be able to swim to participate.

If you are chartering the Rigger for a snorkel sail, all snorkelers must be able to swim. Otherwise, dry cruises do not require passengers to be able to swim.

Are you required to wear a life jacket for snorkeling?

Life jackets are only required to be worn while swimming.

Every year Humpback Whales migrate to the warm waters of Hawaii, and although not guaranteed, they are often seen between the months of December and April.

In this article, we share with you one of our FAVORITE beach catamarans in Waikiki. The convenient location in Waikiki makes it easy for those staying at a Waikiki hotel.

This snorkel cruise is available both for the morning and afternoon. Turtle Canyon is a popular spot for Hawaiian green sea turltes to get their shells cleaned by tropical fish.

We chose the 9 a.m. snorkel cruise, which had an 8:30 check-in. On the day of the cruise, I received a text from Holokai Catamaran with all the information I needed to know.

To check in, we headed to their storefront, located at 226 Lewers Street on the second floor. If you're familiar with the Waikiki area, you might remember seeing a Yard House. Take the escalator to the second floor and look out for someone wearing the Holokai uniform.

What to Expect

Holokai Catamaran is a beach catamaran, meaning the boat comes right up on the sand itself. Boarding is easy – you'll walk right out onto the sand and there's a ladder right in the middle of the boat. Keep in mind you do have to time the water just right, otherwise you'll get splashed. Make sure you wear shorts or something that is at least knee-high so your clothes don't get wet.

We head to TURTLE CANYON – a turtle cleaning station where the turtles get their shells cleaned by the fish. We had about three boats on the water – a catamaran, a dive boat, and another catamaran. We got some turtles and a bunch of fish.

On this cruise, you get a circle vest that inflates, a whistle in case of emergency, snorkel fins, and adjustable fins that are super comfortable.

Tradewind Sail

Sail the tradewinds on this adventure sailing charter in hawaii.

This one and a half hour-long sail lets you see Oahu from a different perspective at a great value! We’ll follow the trade winds blowing from the northeast, which gives you a spectacular view from the boat as you pass the Waikiki Natatorium War Memorial and Diamond Head Lighthouse. You’ll get extraordinary views of the beaches at Black Point, Koko Head and Koko Crater along the way. On a clear day, you’ll see the majestic green island of Molokai some 40 miles away.

This is an excellent cruise for families and sailors wanting to relax and enjoy an beautiful afternoon in the sun. We’ll be keeping a sharp eye out for dolphins, whales and other sea life while getting as close as possible so you can get a great photo. Upgrade to an open bar for just $20!

Any guests with mobility issues or are a slower walker will have to let us know after or before you book, so we can make the appropriate accommodations.
