The world is slowly returning to normal following the Covid-19 pandemic, with many events slated for last year now making a highly anticipated return this summer. One such event that many are buzzing about this week is the 2020 UEFA European Championship, which was originally scheduled to take place June 12th – July 12th of last year and will instead make its triumphant return June 11th – July 11th of 2021. Despite being delayed a full year due to the pandemic, the soccer tournament will keep the name UEFA Euro 2020.

The tournament will take place in 11 cities associated with the UEFA (Union of European Football Association), including Munich, Amsterdam, Saint Petersburg, London, and Rome (just to name a few). And while attendance will be limited in accordance with social distancing requirements, fans will still be allowed to attend. Some of the biggest names in soccer will be among those participating in the tournament and if you’re at all familiar with the sport, you might also know that they boast some seriously awe-inspiring watch collections. Ramos was recently spotted wearing a White Rolesor Datejust II ref. 116334 with a black dial. The watch has since been discontinued (along with all Datejust II models) but can still be found on the pre-owned market for around $10k. Sergio Ramos’ Rolex collection also includes the coveted Everose Yacht-Master 126655 on an Oysterflex bracelet that retails for $27,300 and a handsome yellow gold Submariner 116618LB with a blue dial and bezel, which is available on the secondary market for around $40k.

The solid gold watch is just as impressive as Alaba’s soccer career, boasting a 42mm case and matching bracelet in 18k yellow gold and Rolex’s most complex movement yet – the Caliber 9001, which offers both an annual calendar complication and GMT functionality.

Rolex Submariner 116610LV – Karim Benzema, France

Karim Benzema, the striker for Spanish soccer club Real Madrid and the France national team is no stranger to the UEFA Champions with over 100 appearances since 2006. Benzema is worth around $70 million and has an impressive luxury watch collection to match, including a number of models from Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and (naturally) Rolex.

Even the most experienced watch collectors will be impressed by his impressive Rolex lineup, which includes the cult favorite white gold Submariner with a blue dial and ceramic bezel – aka the “Smurf” (reference 116619). The Smurf Submariner is discontinued but can be found on the pre-owned market for around $40k – $50k. Benzema’s collection also includes the stainless steel Rolex Submariner Hulk (ref. 116610LV), which features a striking green dial and ceramic bezel (also discontinued), and the Cosmograph Daytona in white gold (ref. 116509) with a Mother of Pearl dial. Karim’s watch box also includes an impressive rose gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar and at least two different Patek Philippe Nautilus watches (ref. 5712G in white gold and ref. 5980R in rose gold.

We spotted three watches that were only released this year on the wrists of stars this week, with Mark Wahlberg rocking the fresh denim-strapped Patek Philippe World Time Date, Simu Liu sporting the new malachite-clad Jacob & Co. Palatial Classic, and Lucien Laviscount flexing the latest Audemars Piguet [Re]Master .

Other celebs wore older but certainly not obsolete timepieces on the red carpet. Nick Jonas was spotted in the coveted Rolex Yacht-Master “Popeye,” Paul Feig showed off a classic Rolex Daytona , Sam Asghari donned the iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Duoface , and Archie Renaux flaunted the Hublot Classic Fusion Black Magic .

Simu Liu: Jacob & Co. Palatial Classic

The Jacob & Co. timepiece that Simu Liu wore to the Los Angeles premiere of Jackpot was rocking—literally. The sizable 42 mm beauty is one of the three new Palatial Big Date models the Swiss watchmaker unveiled in March. Available in either stainless steel or rose gold, the trio showcases striking

made from blue Lapis Lazuli, green Malachite, and black Onyx, respectively. Each piece of stone features a unique pattern, so no two Palatial faces will be alike. Liu’s example has a malachite face with striking veins in green and black, a large date with a double disc at 12 o’clock, and a power reserve indicator at six o’clock. The price of each individually numbered piece is available upon request.

Lucien Laviscount: Audemars Piguet [RE]Master02

Lucien Laviscount wore a très chic Audemars Piguet during the premiere of the new season of Emily in Paris on Wednesday. Released in May, the [RE]Master02 is a modern reimaging of the asymmetrical models AP produced in scant quantities in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Crafted from Audemars Piguet’s proprietary sand gold, the angular 41 mm case shifts between white and pink hues while the caseback gives a clear view of the trusted time-only only Caliber 7129. The distinctive blue dial showcases a unique parallel brush finish and 12 gold-lined segments that allow you to help time telling without any markers. Limited to 250 pieces, the watch retails for $47,200.

Nick Jonas: Rolex Yacht-Master “Popeye”

The playful Rolex Nick Jonas wore to the Los Angeles premiere of The Good Half on Tuesday will likely appeal to cartoon lovers and watch buffs alike. Created as part of a collab between Bamford Watch Department and Dr. Romanelli in 2015, the limited edition features none other than Popeye on the dial. The sailor’s arms function as hands and point to the time, though the rest of the yacht functions as usual. The 40 mm case and bracelet have been finished in a military-grade titanium coating, creating a monochromatic that further accentuates the colorful character. Only 29 pieces priced at £20,500 (about $26,400) were released worldwide, rendering the Rolex Yachtmaster “Popeye” rather rare.

Mark Wahlberg: Patek Philippe World Time Date

Mark Wahlberg has once again proved he is one of the country’s most clued-in and well-connected collectors. The American actor showed off a newly released Patek Philippe World Time Date during the Los Angeles premiere of The Union on Monday. Unveiled for the second time at Watches & Wonders in April, the timepiece (Ref. 5330G) features a 40 mm white-gold case, a blue-gray opaline dial with a distinctive carbon pattern, and a funky denim-clad leather strap. Powered by the self-winding caliber 240 HU, the world timer offers 24-hour and a.m./p.m. indication for all 24 time zones. It retails for $76,594.

Sam Asghari: Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Classic Duoface

Iranian-American actor Sam Asghari sported a winning Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Duoface during the L.A. premiere of Jackpot on Tuesday. JLC released the first Reverso in 1931, before following up with the Duoface in 1994. The successor had all the Art Deco elegance of the 1930s original but was fitted with a second dial instead of the Reverso’s solid metal caseback. Priced at $25,000, this contemporary iteration (Ref. Q3842520) features a 28.3 mm steel case, a silver guilloché dial with black numerals, and a black guilloché dial with silver markers. The faces show two time zones and a small seconds display. A winning watch, indeed.

Archie Renaux: Hublot Classic Fusion Black Magic

Archie Renaux is starring in a dark and scary sci-fi. It is rather fitting, then, that the English actor wore a menacing, all-black Hublot Classic Fusion Black Magic to the Alien: Romulus premiere in L.A. on Monday. Released in 2019, the Classic Fusion Black Magic features a black ceramic case—it comes in four different sizes, but the Brit’s looks like the largest—a matching ceramic bezel, a matte black dial with silver-toned hands, and a black rubber strap. The monochromatic piece costs $9,800 a pop. You can also add a ceramic bracelet for a little extra dosh.

Paul Feig: Rolex Cosmograph Daytona

Paul Feig, famous for directing films like Bridesmaids and The Heat , wore the Rolex equivalent of a blockbuster at the L.A. premiere of Jackpot on Tuesday. The Cosmograph Daytona in question could either be the Ref. 126500LN the Crown released in 2023 to celebrate the model’s 60th anniversary or the Ref. 116500LN that the Swiss watchmaker debuted in 2016. It is impossible to say which reference it is without the help of calipers. Both feature 40 mm Oystersteel cases, black Cerachrom bezels, white dials, three chronograph counters, and Oyster bracelets, but the Ref. 126500LN has the new Caliber 4131 movement and refined aesthetic details. The latter retails for $15,100.

The Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 40 in 18 ct Everose gold with an Oysterflex bracelet.

The oysterflex bracelet, highly resistant and durable.

The Yacht-Master’s new Oysterflex bracelet, developed by Rolex and patented, offers a sporty alternative to metal bracelets. The bracelet attaches to the watch case and the Oysterlock safety clasp by a flexible titanium and nickel alloy metal blade.

The blade is overmoulded with high-performance black elastomer which is particularly resistant to environmental effects, very durable and perfectly inert for the wearer of the watch. For enhanced comfort, the inside of the Oysterflex bracelet is equipped with a patented longitudinal cushion system that stabilizes the watch on the wrist and fitted with an 18 ct Everose gold Oysterlock safety clasp. It also features the Rolex Glidelock extension system, designed by the brand and patented. This inventive toothed mechanism, integrated beneath the clasp, allows fine adjustment of the bracelet length by some 15 mm in increments of approximately 2.5 mm, without the use of tools.

An exclusive patent

To preserve the beauty of its pink gold watches, Rolex created and patented an exclusive 18 ct pink gold alloy cast in its own foundry: Everose gold.

Introduced in 2005, 18 ct Everose is used on all Rolex Oyster models in pink gold.

Bidirectional Rotatable Bezel

Timing the distance.

The Yacht-Master’s bidirectional rotatable 60-minute graduated bezel is made entirely from precious metals or fitted with a Cerachrom insert in high-tech ceramic. The raised polished numerals and graduations stand out clearly against a matt, sand-blasted background.

This functional bezel – which allows the wearer to calculate, for example, the sailing time between two buoys – is also a key component in the model’s distinctive visual identity.

Exceptional legibility.

Like all Rolex Professional watches, the Yacht-Master 40 offers exceptional legibility in all circumstances, and especially in the dark, thanks to its Chromalight display.

The broad hands and hour markers in simple shapes – triangles, circles, rectangles – are filled with a luminescent material emitting a long-lasting glow.
