Azimut Benetti, Marco Valle is the new CEO of the group

  • May 27, 2020

Important change in the Azimut-Benetti Group’s top management team which is preparing for a really important evolution. On September 1, 2020, engineer Franco Fusignani will hand over responsibility for the Benetti Division in the hands of Dr. Marco Valle , currently in charge of the Azimut division.

Marco-Valle_Ceo-Azimut-Benetti-Group

With this appointment, once again, the Azimut Benetti Group shows how it is possible to globally evolve while preserving the typical values of a “family-run” company, light years away from the financial logic that has negatively affected the yachting sector.

The appointment of Marco Valle is not random since, thanks to the experience gained in 25 years of activity within the company, he combines extraordinary business skills and the ability to work in continuum with the business spirit and Paolo Vitelli’s imprint.

Engineer Fusignani will continue to be part of Azimut Benetti’s Board of Directors after September 1, for his experience gained in fifty years of work, offering all the necessary support in order to guarantee the efficient management of the integrated business, the different offer of product, the separate marketing and after-sales services of the two brands and their strengthening on the market.

Franco Fusignani

Obviously, the desire to preserve the specificities and values of each brand, whose distinct identities are the basis of the Group’s success, remains confirmed but it is equally clear that this choice aims to encourage the organic and unitary management of the business, with advantages in terms of effectiveness, timeliness and efficiency.

” Marco Valle, who joined the company 25 years ago, goes to the full support of the Vitelli family and the Group Board of Directors for this new challenge, which he will certainly be able to take with the same spirit of success that has marked his work, first as commercial manager of Azimut Yachts and, for four years, as CEO of the Azimut division”,

Paolo Vitelli

” We thank Franco for the great work he has done and continue to do in Benetti and the future continuity of his presence in the Group. Continuity deemed important to face new challenges in the face of an evolving market and generational change of current management “.

Azimut Benetti Group

Azimut|Benetti is the largest and most prestigious yacht manufacturer in the world. With 138 sales and service centers in 80 countries, the Group includes the estabilished Azimut Yachts and Benetti brands, each dedicated to a different market segment. Azimut-Benetti, the World’s Largest Yacht Builder, Introduces a New CEO—and 9 New Boats

The Azimut- Benetti Group has named Marco Valle as its new chief executive officer. Valle, a 25-year veteran who was named CEO of Azimut Yachts in 2016, will now be chief executive of a joined Italian company that is uniting both brands for the first time. Azimut is considered one of the most respected production and semi-custom boat builders, while Benetti is the world’s largest builder of superyachts (by number of units), with a new gigayacht division with yachts over 330 feet.

Valle said in a press conference in Portofino, Italy, on Friday that he plans to “keep the two identities of the brands totally separate,” while also sharing the best practices of both groups. He said the company plans to increase its model numbers from 30 to 35, while also introducing nine new yachts over the next 18 months. “Since the beginning of the year, we’ve delivered 56 units and reasserted our dominance in yachts over 79 feet,” Valle added. “We’re also adding a new category of yacht that will be a trendsetter in the yachting world.”

Despite the complications of Covid-19 on production and distribution, Valle said the company saw its annual revenues increase from the start of the year, as demand soared for new boats.

In introducing most of its new models, the company also brought on stage a number of the different yacht designers it has worked with over the past decade, including Alberto Mancini, Ken Freivokh, Giorgio M. Cassetta, Enrico Bonetti, and Adrian Chisnell of RWD. The varied styles of these designers show the diversity of the different lines in the two brands.

Azimut’s new flagship model, called the Trideck was designed by Achille Salvagni and Alberto Mancini, and will debut in January. Azimut’s Flybridge 53, also designed too by Mancini, is likewise scheduled to make its debut. Mancini said that the Trideck will employ concepts of minimalism, taking its cues from the automotive industry. “It’s difficult to do because this type of yacht is not necessarily elegant, but we kept it as clean and linear as possible,” Mancini said during the press conference. “At the same time, you won’t believe how much space is available inside.”

Azimut also announced a new Magellano 30 Meter yacht as well as an upcoming Magellano 66 for 2021. For the US market, the brand will introduce a new Verve 42.

Benetti showed off its first Oasis 40 M in Portofino. The company said that 10 units have already been sold. Another Oasis will be added to that category. Benetti said it was adding another category called Motopanfilo , “which promises to restore to the fullest all the charm of the classic watercraft models that made the brand famous in the 1960s,” said Valle. The company also said a new 121-footer in its B.Yond category will be launched next September.

A worldwide excellence with a family soul.

Building the most beautiful, innovative, technological and reliable yachts, being able to provide assistance everytime and everywhere in the world, requires great passion and shared values, like in a large family. Every new decision or path taken by the Group is inspired by our passion for the sea, by inspiring innovation based on a solid tradition of excellence and by the commitment to pursue new solutions today for an ever more conscious and sustainable future of yachting. This is the inspiration with which the Vitelli family has always guided the Azimut|Benetti Group. An entrepreneurial culture guided by the family values and based on the enhancement of internal talents, on which has built its own stability, necessary to seize and anticipate future opportunities.

Paolo Vitelli_Founder and Chairman (2) 1

Paolo Vitelli

Born in Turin in 1947 into a family of entrepreneurs, he founded Azimut when he was just 21 years old to make his dream come true: to set up his own business that would allow him to professionally pursue his great passion for boats and yachting.

After graduating in Economics and Commerce, at the age of 22, he became an importer for Italy of boats produced by some of the most prestigious shipyards in Northern Europe. This experience made him realise that the future of boating lay in mass production aimed at building reliable and safe boats with Italian taste and style, promptimg him to begin production under his own brand.

In the mid-seventies, Azimut launched a series of boats that were a great success. In the following years, Vitelli expanded the range from 8-10 metres to larger models, up to the iconic Azimut Failaka 105′ (30.8 metres), which was also sold to the Onassis family, and began exporting to North America, South East Asia and the Middle East. In the Eighties, Vitelli acquired Cantieri Benetti, a Viareggio-based shipyard with a history stretching back more than a century, and created the Azimut|Benetti Group.

The Nineties marked a period of uninterrupted and continuous expansion, every year all the proceeds were invested in the company’s development. The passionate and enlightened leadership of Paolo Vitelli, already in the middle of the decade, enabled the Group to achieve a turnover of 100 billion lire, which in 2003 would reach 403 million euros. In addition to expansion into international markets, Vitelli realised that it was product innovation that gave the company a strong connotation of reliability and prestige. Thus, he aimed to create yachts characterised by a precise style, elegance and strong innovation, introducing interior layouts and design that would later be imitated throughout the nautical world. A choice that, in 2000, led the Azimut|Benetti Group to win the title of the world’s leading producer of megayachts, a supremacy it has held uninterruptedly for 23 years.

In the 2000s, Vitelli expanded its production sites, acquired new shipyards and strengthened its network of technical assistance centres for clients, and built a number of marinas such as the Marina di Varazze, the Marina di Mosca, the Marina di Valletta in Malta and the Marina di Livorno. During this period, Vitelli confirmed himself as a visionary entrepreneur by continuing to invest, the first in the yachting industry, in technological innovation with a view to eco-sustainability, aimed at achieving an ever greater reduction in emissions and propulsion efficiency, with increasingly high-performance hulls, increasingly less polluting propulsion systems and the use of new materials such as carbon fibre to lighten the product.

Over the past two years, Vitelli has taken advantage of a favourable market to consolidate the Group, both by strengthening the management team and by dedicating himself to completing the succession of the company to his daughter Giovanna.

Giovanna Vitelli_Vice President Azimut Benetti Group (3) 1

Giovanna Vitelli

Since 2000, Giovanna Vitelli has been a member of the Board of Directors of Azimut|Benetti SpA. From 2004, she has intensified his active participation in the family business with a focus on corporate strategy and product development, reaching the position of Deputy – Executive Chairman with direction on new model development and Group R&D.

It is her contribution the opening towards external designers and the drive towards innovative propulsive solutions, managing to combine, with a concrete approach, “what is possible now”, with a strong ambition for the future of sustainable yachting. Since March 2023 she is Chair of the Group.

The passion for yachting and the will to work actively to promote a positive development of this industry in Italy and Europe, lead her to take part in the Board of Directors of Marina di Varazze S.r.l., a company dedicated to the construction and management of the tourist port of Varazze and of Lusben Varazze Srl, a company dedicated to the refit&repair of yachts. Giovanna Vitelli also sits in the executive committee of Boot Messe Düsseldorf, which manages the organization of the Messe Düsseldorf International Boat Show and is Vice President of Sybass, the international association of large megayacht manufacturers. She is dedicated to the promotion of Made in Italy around the world, not only as Chair of Azimut|Benetti, whose yachts are an epitome of elegance and style typically associated with the excellence of our Country, but also as Vice President of the Foundation Altagamma, which brings together the companies of the high Italian cultural and creative industry, ambassadors of Italian style in the world.

She is a member of the Board of Directors of Breithorn Srl, a company dedicated to the management of the Grand Hotel des Alpes in Chamonix, the Hotellerie de Mascognaz and the Hotel Breithorn in Champoluc (Aosta). Member of the Board of Directors of Buzzi Unicem Spa, an Italian multinational company specialized in the production of cement and concrete.

Marco Valle To Become Group CEO of Azimut Benetti from Sept 1st

Luxurious Magazine

From September, Marco Valle will become the Group CEO of Azimut Benetti SpA. He will also take over the responsibility for the Benetti Division from Franco Fusignani who will remain on the Company’s Board of Directors.

Time waits for no man, and this appears to be the case at the renowned Italian boatbuilders Azimut Benetti SpA. They, along with the Vitelli family have announced that 75-year-old Franco Fusignani, will be handing over the responsibility for the Benetti Division on September 1st.

The Benetti division will be headed by Marco Valle, who is the current boss of the Azimut Division. Marco will take the helm of both Benetti and Azimut in his new position of Group CEO.

Azimut Verve 47

The decision is designed to unify the approach to business management and seeks to make the group more effective and efficient. The move should help to reinforce both brand’s specific values and characteristics.

Each brand has its own distinct identity, and it is these individual characteristics that have helped form the basis of the Group’s global success. Having both brands under the same management structure should strengthen the company’s position as one of the leaders in the world of luxury boat building.

Franco Fusignani will not be disappearing into the sunset. He will continue to be a board member at Azimut Benetti after September 1st. His 50 years of working experience should help to ensure efficient management of the integrated business and their respective ranges.

From September, Marco Valle will become the Group CEO of Azimut Benetti SpA

Azimut Benetti Group Chairman, Paolo Vitelli said: “Marco Valle, who joined the company 25 years ago, has the full support of the Vitelli family and the Group’s Board of Directors in this new challenge, which he will no doubt rise to with the same spirit of success that has been a distinctive feature of his work, first as Azimut Yachts sales director and for the last four years as CEO of the Azimut division.

We want to thank Franco for the great work he has done and continues to do in Benetti, and for his continued future presence in the Group. This continuity is thought to be important to tackle the new challenges of an evolving market and generational change in the current management team.”

Valle will combine management of Azimut and Benetti divisions

The Vitelli family and the Azimut Benetti SpA Board of Directors have announced that as of September 1, Marco Valle will become Group CEO, replacing Franco Fusignani as head of the Benetti Division. Fusignani, 75, will remain on the board of the Azimut Benetti Group. Valle is currently in charge of the Azimut Division, and after the change, will combine the Azimut and Benetti Divisions to ensure integrated business management, according to a statement.

Marco Valle Named Ceo Of Azimut Benetti Group 1

“Marco Valle, who joined the company 25 years ago, has the full support of the Vitelli family and the Group’s Board of Directors in this new challenge, which he will no doubt rise to with the same spirit of success that has been a distinctive feature of his work, first as Azimut Yachts sales director and for the last four years as CEO of the Azimut division,” said Paolo Vitelli, founder and chairman of the Azimut Benetti Group.

“We would like to thank Franco for the great work he has done and continues to do in Benetti, and for his continued future presence in the Group. This continuity is thought to be important to tackle the new challenges of an evolving market and generational change in the current management team.”

Fusignani was appointed CEO of Benetti in the fall of 2018, after the departure of long-time CEO Vincenzo Poerio, who helped develop Benetti into one of the world’s most prolific superyacht builders. Azimut was founded in 1969 by Paolo Vitelli and in 1985, Azimut acquired the Benetti Shipyard.

At the end of 2019, Azimut Benetti Group was top ranked among superyacht builders, with 101 projects in build, and the Benetti Division launched its second superyacht over 100 metres, marking a new era for the yard.

Benetti has enjoyed considerable success in the Asia market. In June 2019, Benetti announced the sale of a 65-metre yacht to a Chinese client, with the yacht being the first sold by an Italian yard to fly the Chinese flag and be certified by the China Classification Society.

Vincenzo Poerio

As  Robb Report  celebrates its 30 years of Best of the Best awards, we interviewed Italian yacht-builder  Benetti ‘s CEO  Vincenzo Poerio  to view those three decades through his industry’s lens. Lorenzo Benetti established the company in 1873 in Viareggio, Italy , and Poerio joined in 1993. Poerio shares how the industry has changed over the years.

When you started at Benetti in 1993, how were superyachts different from today?

Most superyachts averaged about 80 feet, with very simple design and construction. Technology was basic. There were very few onboard electronics—certainly nothing like today’s wired boats. The interiors were also classic, with walls and furniture built from cherry or mahogany. The bulkheads were marine plywood, so they tended to be straight. Now we use lightweight composite panels that can be shaped if the design calls for it. Other materials for interior designs are just as contemporary—fabrics, leather, gold, stainless steel, and marble or other stones you’d see in residential dwellings. The marble we use is often a skin attached to a carbon-fiber panel. Every ounce counts. Aesthetics are at a much higher level, but so are standards. We became more sophisticated as rules and standards became more complex.

What was your largest yacht back then?

Benetti built the 285-foot Nabila in 1980, but she was a rarity. In 2000, we also launched the 229-foot Reverie, which at the time had a massive internal volume of 2,000 gross tons . . . one of the largest interiors ever on a yacht. Now, many of the larger custom superyachts are closer to 6,000 gross tons. The average length may be increasing, but the internal space is what is really changing. Most owners seem to prefer having space and comfort over speed. They want the same comforts they have at home.

Are you seeing younger clients?

Yes, and they don’t want to wait three years for their dream boats. They’re also pushing more contemporary styling, which we can accommodate in our larger fiberglass models, since fiberglass reproduces complicated shapes. At the larger end, we’re seeing increased demand for semi-custom yachts to save a client two years in the build process. Redman Whiteley Dixon’s recent 184-, 207-, and 223-foot models in our Custom Class series have been well received. For both technology and design, it’s an exciting time for superyachts.

Since joining the company in 1996, Valle has been assigned increasingly prominent roles that have led him to take on the position of CEO of Azimut Yachts in 2016. He now has been chosen by the owners to harmonize the best practices of both brands, with the aim of creating synergies and developing ever-better efficiencies.

This past year, despite the halt imposed by the pandemic, the company – which has built its success by continually investing in the credibility and reputation of its brands – still managed to confirm its solidity and dynamism. The Azimut | Benetti season therefore begins with a highly promising outlook.

“I am extremely proud to declare that we have managed to ensure the delivery of all our orders, thanks to the flexibility that the company deployed at every level in the most difficult months. And that’s not all: with an increase in units sold – 56 to date – , we once again reasserted our leadership in the market of yachts measuring over 24 metres long”, says Giovanna Vitelli, who goes on to say that “the appointment of Marco Valle fixes an inconsistency in our reality that over time had brought Benetti and Azimut to behave more as cousins than as brothers. Both brands are now ready for a new dynamic of heightened exchange and optimisation. Marco, with his strategic, broad-range vision, his ability to promote teamwork, his knowledge of the market and, above all, his commercial intuition, is the right man to make this step”.

For his part, Valle emphasised how important it is to keep the identity of each brand intact and well-distinct, while fully respecting the signature characteristics of each shipyard.

It was always Valle who then introduced the second part of the meeting, focusing on the calendar of new launches scheduled for the next 18 months.

“Relying on a financial position that, despite this very complex year, has been further strengthened, we are now able to present a particularly rich program of product development. Our overall product range will increase from 30 to 35 models, thus essentially covering all the existing categories in the luxury yachting market, bringing the Collections from 8 to 10, adding the luxury explorer category, B.Yond and the whole Oasis experience. This will allow us to continue serving our international clientele with even greater accuracy, meeting their demands with a range that not only offers yachts from 12 to over 100 metres long, but also makes it possible to choose from very different and assorted styles of navigation and experiences on board”, explained Marco Valle.

In fact, the Company will be showcasing an impressive 9 new models in the next 18 months.

Working in partnership with a handful of designers who for some years now have been defining the new signature style of the two brands, such as Alberto Mancini, Ken Freivokh, Giorgio M. Cassetta, Enrico Bonetti (Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture), Adrian Chisnell (RWD), the collaboration continued in a crescendo of anticipations and surprises, all of which are already part of the production pipeline.

For Azimut Yachts the range spans from the new flagship model, the Trideck designed by Achille Salvagni and Alberto Mancini, which will be ready by next January, when the Flybridge 53 (designed too by Mancini) is also scheduled to make its debut, to the Magellano 30 Metres, the older sister-model of the 25 Metres, which celebrated her debut in Portofino with the world premiere of Gabriele Muccino’s short film dedicated to the yacht. Plus the new Verve 42, a new Flybridge, and the new Magellano 66.

Benetti, who celebrated delivery of the first Oasis 40 M in Portofino (10 units sold on paper), will consolidate this new category with yet another model and will welcome the addition of a new product category, that of Motopanfilo , which promises to restore to the fullest all the charm of the classic watercraft models that made the brand famous in the 1960s. Scheduled for next September, instead, is the introduction of the 37 M of the new B.Yond category.

The story behind Benetti: The House of Yachting

As one of the oldest shipyards in the world, Benetti describes itself as The House of Yachting to encapsulate its 150 years of history, experience, tradition, and knowledge. Benetti’s legacy includes some of the world’s most recognisable yachts, including Spectre , Freedom (ex: Reverie ) and Soundwave (ex: 11.11) , that have been created by leading designers, such as Giorgio Cassetta and Stefano Natucci.

“The House of Yachting should not be understood as a proper brand per sé,” says Marco Valle, the Azimut | Benetti Group’s CEO. “It is a way of describing the shipyard which contains a promise to its clients and partners. Benetti has such a presence in the yachting industry because it is The House of Yachting, and that is what has allowed the shipyard to develop such a unique and valuable offering.”

Founded in 1873

Benetti’s impact on the superyacht sector is monumental, with 362 yachts measuring over 24 metres delivered to date according to BOATPro. One yacht that proved to be a huge turning point for the brand was the 86-metre Nabila. The largest and most extravagant superyacht on the water when she was launched in 1980 she set new standards in the sector. The build ultimately led to financial trouble for the build, but this then opened the door for Paolo Vitelli to purchase the brand.

Now more than 40 years later, this milestone has been followed by a myriad of modern-day successes, which have all contributed to Azimut | Benetti Group’s status as the world’s most extensive yacht and megayacht network.

In 2016, Benetti took a bold initiative to create a building hub dedicated to the construction of yachts over 80 meters. From this shed came the likes of the 107-metre Luminosity , 107-metre Lana and 108-metre IJE – the trio of yachts delivered in 100 days in 2020 that broke Benetti’s 100-metre barrier and set a new record for the industry.

More recently, the Benetti B.Yond 37M established itself as the greenest model in its class. The technologically forward and revolutionary semi-custom design features four decks and a steel hull powered by a hybrid system.

Not just a builder

While expanding its portfolio, Benetti accrued the knowledge and ability to meet increasingly innovative and demanding orders. Time and time again, the yard delivers on its highly-engineered naval platform with beautiful finishes, future-proof decor and technology – all of which benefits from Benetti’s rich history, experience and heritage.

“Benetti is not just tradition, it is also continuous innovation, a constant effort to put its deep knowledge at play to anticipate the desires of its owners and the latest trends on the market,” explains Valle. “The House of Yachting’s purpose is to set Benetti’s all-encompassing standard as a benchmark in the global luxury yachting scene.”

Another contributor to The House of Yachting’s high standards is the yard’s cooperation with brilliant architects and designers. Since the 1980s, Benetti saw a rising evolution in size and complexity of the yachts, which demanded input and expertise from the likes of Sinot Yacht Design, Bannenberg & Rowell Design, RWD, Cor D. Rover, Bonetti/Kozersky and Studio Lazzarini Pickering. As a result, Benetti was able to become one of the most versatile and innovative builders that delivered on design and functionality in a uniquely recognisable style.

Benetti’s Order Book

Today, Benetti reports a full order book until 2027, filled with a variety of custom builds and yachts from its five-category fleet: Class, B.Yond, Oasis and B.NOW. With 58 upcoming superyacht deliveries recorded on BOATPro, Benetti’s two sites in Viareggio and Livorno are working non-stop.

“There are more than 200 suppliers in our supply chain, and we have developed a relationship of value and trust with each one of them,” explains Valle. “We involve our partners in all of our future projects so that we can keep growing together.”

A superyacht ordered with Benetti can take up to five years to be completed. For Benetti owners, the wait is nothing short of worthwhile. “Our owners are lovers of beauty, deep connoisseurs of aesthetics and art, with very clear ideas about the design and technologies they want on board and are therefore willing to wait longer to have their Benetti yacht,” explains Valle.

“They identify with our values and know that we can guarantee them very high-quality standards. They know that Benetti is able to respond to any of their wishes because we guarantee thorough control over every phase of the project – from design to the realisation of every smallest detail – following them step by step at every stage, including after sales.”

Nautical success

The Azimut | Benetti Group is the world’s largest superyacht builder by total length of yachts under construction in BOAT International’s Global Order Book , and has been since 1999. The secret to this success? “We do really believe that one of the reasons for our success as The House of Yachting lies in our origins,” says Valle. “Benetti has its roots in Tuscany, in what is still today one of the main hubs of the yachting industry, while at the same time being the cradle of art.”

“Being this close to cities such as Florence, Pisa, and Siena, just to mention a few, has certainly influenced the development of this concept of elegant beauty that we want to embody in our yachts and that our owners have come to appreciate and recognise,” he adds.

Azimut Benetti Group_1

The driving force of the industry in which Italy is the global leader, Azimut|Benetti Group has set up its own Academy, offering a holistic training approach and four action areas to promote the professional growth of employees and create new jobs by training the professionals most in demand in the yacht industry.

Avigliana, June 13 th , 2023 – Azimut|Benetti Group announces the creation of the  Azimut|Benetti Group Corporate Academy , a  business school  designed to train top  yacht industry professionals , with the dual aim of supporting the professional growth of its employees and of creating the roles most in demand in order to  generate new jobs .  An initiative aimed at enhancing the merit and professionalism of current and future employees, which has always engaged the company’s founder, Paolo Vitelli, and was strongly desired by Giovanna Vitelli in her first months as President of the Group.

The  Azimut|Benetti Group Corporate Academy  is the first in the yachting world to look at the industry as a whole, bringing a  holistic approach  to training and a teaching model that embraces  technical know-how and handcrafting expertise ,  managerial development  in addition to  education and guidance projects  set up in partnership with vocational training agencies, secondary education institutes and universities. It is an ambitious programme, based on sharing the values and skills that have put the Group at the top of the world ranking of superyacht producers for the last 23 years.

The training is structured in  four action areas : the  Shipyard Academy  and the  Executive Academy , which provide upskilling, reskilling and executive education for Group employees, the  Development & Career Path , split into multiple internal growth paths, and lastly  Education and Guidance  Projects for students. Underlying all this is an awareness of the opportunities offered today by the yacht industry and of the role the company plays in this  strategic segment for Italy :

“We are at the forefront of a growing industry in which Italy leads the world rankings and that is always looking for specialists to recruit. Our Group employs some of the world’s top professionals and our network of partners and suppliers is second to none, making it both a responsibility and a privilege to share this heritage in order to create new opportunities for people inside and outside the Yard,”  commented  Azimut|Benetti Group CEO Marco Valle .

According to  La Nautica in Cifre  ( Yachting Facts and Figures ), the study published by Italian yacht industry trade body  Confindustria Nautica  in September 2022, the sector contributed over €5 billion to Italian GDP in 2021, up 31.4% on 2020. Total employees rose 9.7%, with a peak of 14.7% in new builds.

balsamini_Azimut_day174

The shipyard area is also the focus of the Shipyard Academy, which has been set up in partnership with Turin-based training organisation  Fondazione Casa di Carità Arti e Mestieri di Torino  as part of the Innovative and Sustainable Integrated Mobility Academy promoted by Regione Piemonte and launched officially on  June 5, 2023 . The courses – over  18,000 hours of training  – will promote a  culture of continuous improvement , valuing and strengthening the skills required by the company  in order to train highly specialised professionals  in the techniques of bodywork production, carpentry, outfitting, and mechanical and hydraulic assembly.

“The Shipyard Academy has been created to focus on ‘homo faber’ and the ability to create and build, celebrating both the craftsmanship that is an integral part of the production process and the great professionalism of our workforce, which has always been one of the company’s distinctive features,”  explained  Santi Carlino, Azimut|Benetti Group Chief People & ICT Officer .

Also beginning this summer are the courses offered by the  Executive Academy , designed to ensure the supervision, spread and development of the Group’s business culture by promoting the values of talent and professionalism. Receiving a total of more than 28,000 hours of training,  Azimut|Benetti Group managers will take part in leadership development programmes  designed to strengthen their skills in the areas of communication and listening, people management and decision making. The training path will also include classes that focus on specific requirements, such as the customer experience in the luxury industry.

Santi Carlino  added:  “The Executive Academy offers our managers specific training activities identified by needs analysis processes as essential to achieve our strategic change management and organisational development objectives. The programme aims to boost the skills needed to excel in business”.

The two Academies are the natural continuation of the process of learning corporate values and skills that begins with  onboarding and induction into the Group  and takes the form of the  professional growth plan  for employees, which is structured in corporate career steps.

The Azimut|Benetti Group Corporate Academy extends the  vocational education  project launched by the company to  attract young people to the yacht industry and facilitate their transition to the world of work . For a number of years, in fact, the Group has been working with  professional schools  to train specialists in the areas of carpentry, outfitting and bodywork, with  secondary education institutes  to implement skill adaptation strategies aimed at developing mechanical and naval study plans for training naval operators, with the  maritime technical college  to train young captains and crew, and with  higher education institutes  on activities ranging from the development of new technologies to induction and co-teaching.

Azimut Yachts Division Announce New CEO

By B. Roberts

The Azimut-Benetti Group has announced the appointment of Paolo Casani as the new CEO of the Azimut Yachts Division – one of the leading companies in the luxury yacht sector.

Paolo Casani began a sterling career with the company in 2008 after 25 years of experience in the fashion and luxury goods sector. The Yachtique Division of Azimut-Benetti was successfully directed by Casani until he was appointed the new CEO of the Azimut Yachts Division.

Paolo Casani is set to take over many of the responsibilities carried by Gianni Cucco, the previous CEO of Azimut who holds ten-years of experience at the top of the company. Cucco was recently called back by Chairman Paolo Vitelli to temporarily direct Azimut Yachts and help select his successor from amongst the company’s internal resources. Azimut stated in the most recent release that having now completed his duties, Gianni Cucco will remain with the company to support the Azimut division and will continue to carry out some corporate activities.

The Azimut-Benetti Group has decided to split its activities into two main areas: boats up to 30m, headed by the new CEO of Azimut, Paolo Casani, with help from the head of the Atlantis Division, Luca Sburlati, and boats over 30m which will be directed by Vincenzo Poerio, a historic company manager who has worked as CEO of Benetti for 18 years, and will from now on also be responsible for the Grande Collection models branded Azimut Yachts.

Analisi, indagini, studi, previsioni.
