Yes! Listing a boat is completely free. We only take a commission when your boat is rented. We only make money when you do!

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.

Norfolk Broads Boat Hire

Providing something for everyone, a Norfolk Broads boating holiday promises to delight children and adults alike. Renowned for its natural beauty as well as its fine range of visitor attractions, the Norfolk Broads abounds with incredible waterside restaurants, traditional English pubs and remarkable nature trails. One of the UK’s 15 national parks, the wildlife and landscapes of the Norfolk Broads are expertly protected to ensure they maintain their year round beauty.

Stretching from Beccles in the south to Dilham in the north, there’s over 125 miles of navigable waterways to explore. From the quaint village of Wroxham to the bustling city of Norwich, the variety of destinations to visit means there’s something to please all tastes. Some, like the Fair Prince, for example, have a raised steering position that makes it possible to steer the boat whilst being out in the open. Others, like the Fair Princess, have a split sliding canopy to allow those on board to feel even more connected to the water and their surroundings.

Our collection of premier cruisers which include boats like the the Fair Marquess and Fair Jubilee benefit from alfresco dining areas and exterior lounges that make them great choices for families and couples who like to spend the majority of their holidays outside. Certain boats in this collection also feature whirlpool baths, flatscreen televisions, and separate interior dining areas. Ultimately, they allow boaters to discover the Broads whilst indulging in a few luxuries whilst cruising from one place to another.

Full tank of fuel.   Your holiday cruiser will be provided with a full tank of fuel upon collection.

Damage waiver.  Sometimes mishaps occur. With our damage waiver you can relax knowing should you be involved in an accident you wont incur additional costs. For further information please refer to our terms and conditions.

Free unlimited wifi.  Whilst the Norfolk Broads offers the perfect place to disconnect, we k now that is not always possible. We offer free unlimited wifi onboard, to ensure you can stay in touch when you need to.

Free outdoor parking.  Our free car parking means you can start your holiday relaxed, rather than struggling to find a car parking space.   

Providing there isn’t a sign stating otherwise, boaters are welcome to moor anywhere on the Norfolk Broads. Providing, of course, that they do so sensibly. Whilst many areas are free to moor in, it’s important to note that some places do charge for this service and it’s the responsibility of anyone hiring a boat to ensure that all necessary fees are paid. In the case of the yacht stations at Norwich and Great Yarmouth, for example, there is a charge to stop and make use of their facilities.

In some cases, waterside restaurants will refund any mooring fees upon the purchase of a meal. Similarly, all hire boatyards which are members of the Broads Hire Boat Federation will allow visiting cruisers to moor for free at certain periods.

Convenient and often free mooring options ultimately make boat hire on the Norfolk Broads much more enjoyable as it’s possible for visitors to easily get around and spend as much time as they like at their preferred destinations.

Our boating holidays on the Broads are great for four legged friends, too! Welcomed on board along with their humans, they’re welcome to cruise the Broads in style. We’re also committed to ensuring that everyone stays safe out on the water, which is why we’re happy to loan out dog life jackets in exchange for a small refundable deposit.

It’s not just our team that welcomes our furry friends on the Broads. Indeed, many of the walking trails around the waterways accommodate dogs. From walks on Wherryman’s Way by the River Yare to the grounds around Burgh Castle, it’s possible for dogs to come along and enjoy a holiday with their owners.

There’s also various pubs and attractions that are dog-friendly and make for great places to visit during a Norfolk Broads holiday. These include:

They are self-drive, so you will always be in control and free to explore the Broads at your leisure.  All fitted out to the highest standard with a light and airy feel, our cruisers are a real home from home. Additional features on some craft such as bow and stern thrusters and power showers ensure luxury comfort. Whether you are looking for a romantic break for two or a luxury boating holiday with friends and family our cruisers are the perfect choice.

In addition all of our hire boats are pet friendly, so there is no reason to leave your four legged family members at home, from parrots to tortoises we welcome them all. The Norfolk Broads are particularly great for dogs with miles of walks for your dog to enjoy and many Norfolk Broads pubs also welcome well-behaved dogs so that you can rest your weary feet and paws after all that walking!

To keep our fleet in tip top condition, we have dedicated a team who look after all aspects of maintaining the hire fleet, from the rudder, shaft and engine right through to interiors and furnishings.

Established in 1969, we celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2019 and during our many years of operation we have introduced thousands of couples and families to the splendours of the Great Glen. No previous boating experience or licence are necessary (approximately one third of our customers are completely new to boating) and we provide a comprehensive handover with 24 hour support service during your stay.

The aft master cabin features a queen size center-line berth, the guest stateroom offers a full queen and the forward crew quarters sleep two additional in over-under bunks. Two spacious, tiled aft heads (the master cabin head is ensuite), both with separate stall showers. Forward of the master and guest cabins is the completely new galley.

The galley is equipped with a stainless sink, Miele 4-burner cooktop/oven and Vitrofrigo refrigeration system with Isotherm freezer. Built-in washer/dryer. New furnishings have been custom designed and made for the boat. The vessel is heated with a reverse cycle heating system and is air conditioned. Somerset’s interior is finished with the original butternut paneling in the main salon as well as teak in the wheelhouse, aft deck and galley. Her sole is cork.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
