I enjoyed my experience working with Sam. He’s a knowledgeable, trustworthy, smart and reliable guy. He went above and beyond to help me out with some post-purchase tasks that I was trying to juggle. I also found your listing helpful as it provided a complete description of the boat and included a lot of good pics. Frank “
Sam is very professional and walked us through the process. He is a great asset to your team. Mike “

Testimonials

Christopher friesen, beth and dave o'connor - bellingham, w.a. | beneteau 36.7 owners.

We recently purchased our Beneteau 36.7 with the assistance of Brad Marchant.  Due to the COVID-19 situation, we were unable to view the boat prior to purchasing it.

Ralf and Helga Schmidtke | Fleming 65 Owners

Having decided after 30 years of sailing to change to power, the wide choice of brands made the selection task a daunting one. We wanted the most reliable, comfortable, safest, practical and best thought out boat that we could find. Attention to detail and quality was paramount, as was after purchase servicing. She also had to be an attractive boat that we could be proud of. After several months of extensive research, one name easily made it to the top.

Joel Nauss | 75’ President Yacht Owners

Craig and stacey | beneteau oceanis 31.1 owners.

Stacey and I both want to extend our gratitude for your help in acquiring "Margie." She is exactly what we were looking for, and the entire process was as seamless as you had described it would be. She did well on our trip from Anacortes to Kirkland.

Need to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is a yacht? Just like everyone’s home is their castle, we believe everyone’s boat is their yacht, so we define a yacht as any pleasure craft not used commercially. From a 14’ aluminum skiff to an ocean-crossing trawler, if it’s a pleasure craft, it’s a yacht.

Do you sell brand new boats? We don’t. We specialize in locating and selling new-to-you yachts, but we’re not a dealer for any specific brand.

Do you provide support for assessing boat condition? Absolutely. We work with reliable surveyors and mechanics who will help you make informed decisions when both buying and selling your boat.

Do you take my boat out with potential purchasers? No. We only leave the dock when there is a signed Yacht Purchase and Sales agreement and we have received a 10% deposit.

Have another question? Just contact us through this site and we will be happy to assist you.

Richmond maritime festival, boats, mermaids and more: five reasons to check out the richmond maritime festival back to video.

When: Aug. 24 and 25, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Where: Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site, Richmond

Info: richmondmaritimefestival.ca

Every year Steveston celebrates its nautical and multicultural history with the Richmond Maritime Festival. Now in its 21st year, the free two-day event features live music, art installations, puppet shows, art exhibits, interactive shows and performances and more. Here are five reasons to check it out.

Major draws of the festival, the restored heritage boats never fail to stoke the imaginations of young and old alike. Among this year’s vessels are the 102-year-old SS Master tugboat, the oldest working wooden-hulled, steam-powered tug in the world. Returning favourites include the MV Gikumi, which has 70 years of almost continuous service on the West Coast. New to the festival this year are Midnight Sun, a herring and salmon seiner; Saffron, a 34-foot motor cruiser; and Sandra Jean II, a reconditioned fishing troller.

No maritime festival is complete without at least a couple of mermaids, and this year’s has four at last count. Mara the Musical Mermaid, a.k.a. singer-actor Erin Palm, hosts a storytime for the kiddies. Lulu the Mermaid, presented by puppeteer Jesse Stanley, also performs for the younger set. And don’t miss the Cannery Mermaids, a duo who will swim and sing their way through the afternoon crowds.

Medieval folk rock and Japanese city pop

Unfamiliar with these music styles? Well, you still will be after seeing Rainy Night Troubles. Although these “true Richmondite musicians” who “love performing in the Richmond community” count both of those genres among their repertoire, according to the festival. Instead they’ll be performing a maritime-themed set of folk rock for the festival. C’est la vie.

Tornado Truck

It was difficult to choose just one from the more than 10 food trucks scheduled for the festival, but in the end we had to showcase the mobile eatery that serves spiralled and spiced potatoes on a stick. We’re only human.

Hiroyuki Koyanagi

From 1928-1949, Hiroyuki Koyanagi took about 1,000 photos depicting life in and around Richmond, fishing along B.C.’s coast, patients recovering from tuberculosis in the Tranquille Sanatorium in Kelowna, and the internment of Japanese Canadians. Kevin Takahide Lee has created an installation of printed imagery and documents from Koyanagi that will provide a window into some of the changes in the province over the past 100 years.

It has been a busy year of events for the Fairway Gorge Paddling Club, which is staging the third and final installment of its dragon boat season on the Gorge Waterway this weekend.

The Vancouver Island International Dragon Boat Festival opens Saturday at the club’s home base on Jutland Road, the same stretch of water where Vancouver Island Dragon Boat Race Series events were held in May and July.

The upcoming two-day event, founded in 2014, will be held between the Point Ellice Bridge and the Selkirk trestle, and is free for the public to attend. “It’s great sport to watch,” said Erik Ages, race director and general manager of Fairway Gorge Paddling Club.

“For one thing, the venue is so great for spectators because all of the races are fully visible. From start to finish, you can watch the whole thing.”

The Vancouver Island International Dragon Boat Festival is one of two dragon boat festivals held in August, but is the only one staged by Fairway Gorge Paddling Club.

The Canada Dry Victoria Dragon Boat Festival, staged by the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival Society and presented by Fairway Market, was held Aug. 9-10 in the Inner Harbour but with much more of a community-event focus.

“I think what distinguishes this event is that it’s a celebration of dragon boat paddling,” Ages said. “It’s an end-of-season tribute to all of the race formats people have trained for throughout the year.”

The racing will be competitive as it is presented pentathlon-style, with races of 1,500-metre, 500-metre, 200-metre and 100-metre distances, along with a flag relay. The five-race format was designed for paddlers by paddlers, which ups its appeal for those who want to test their competitive spirit. About 800 athletes on 33 teams from the U.S. and Canada will take part.

There’s no shortage of athletes who train specifically for Vancouver Island International Dragon Boat Festival. Dragon boat racing has become a worldwide phenomenon in recent years, along with outrigger canoe racing (race boats in the former are distinguished by the dragon face that adorns one end.) Several members of Fairway Gorge Paddling Club are in Hilo, Hawaii participating in the world sprint championships, which adds to the growing legitimacy of dragon boating as an elite sport on Vancouver Island, Ages said.

“I think one of the distinguishing features of dragon boating is that people get to experience a sense of valour. It so rarely happens in everyday life these days, where you can experience that sense of inner hero. It delights me seeing people experience that for themselves.”

In July, rising production costs prompted Fairway Gorge Paddling Club to move Nanaimo’s South Island Dragon Boat Festival to the capital region for a year, which led to some confusion (it will return to Nanaimo next season, on better financial footing, according to Ages.)

Many dragon boat festivals is far better than not enough, he said. “Throughout my career in this sport, I’ve always known that dragon boat paddlers love to race. First and foremost, that matters most to them.”

Paddlers learn environmental lessons while exploring Lake River, Vancouver Lake on big canoe tours

Participants eager to learn about local waterways, nature.

Rainy Rau of the Water Resources Education Center leads a canoe tour after leaving Felida Moorage & Marine Service on Thursday morning. Paddlers had the opportunity to learn about wildlife, water quality and treatment plans for the algae during the excursion.

With a mixture of excitement and nervousness, Vancouver’s Chelsea White and Hayes Guay from Vancouver nonprofit Columbia Springs quietly waited at the Felida Moorage boat launch Thursday morning. This was to be their first time on one of Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership’s “big canoe” paddling trips.

The pair first heard about the canoes at an environmental network meeting.

“I want to see all the birds and nature and have experts on the boat with us to explain everything,” White said.

The 1½-hour-long paddling trip on Lake River was the perfect opportunity. White and Guay were among two dozen local adults and kids to sign up for Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership’s last trip of the season open to the public. Each canoe can accommodate 12 adults or 14 to 16 adults and children.

The trips are hosted by the estuary partnership and the city of Vancouver’s Water Resources Education Center. Other program partners include the Port of Vancouver, Clark County, Oregon State Marine Board and city of Portland, to name a few.

Rainy Rau of the Water Resources Education Center leads a canoe tour after leaving Felida Moorage & Marine Services on Thursday morning, Aug. 22, 2024. Paddlers had the opportunity to learn about wildlife, water quality and treatment plans for the algae during the excursion.

“I’m a newbie to the environmental world, so I’ll be learning a lot today,” White said.

Guay said she was also looking forward to learning about the environment from an expert.

“I haven’t been out on Vancouver Lake or Lake River before, so that will be a treat,” she said. “I don’t totally know what to expect.”

Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership has hosted 57 paddle trips this year with another seven planned before the end of the season in October. Of those, four trips were open to the public. The group primarily works with youth organizations.

Jasmine Zimmer-Stucky, spokeswoman for the estuary partnership, said the nonprofit often works with “community groups that historically have not had access to river experiences, on-water experiences.”

Before setting off, staff from the Water Resources Education Center and estuary partnership help properly fit each of the paddlers with a life vest and then provide some basic paddling instructions and information about what to expect and see on the trip.

McKenzie Miller, environmental education coordinator for Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership, said the canoe trips are a great way for people to get introduced to nature.

“Part of the goal is just to provide access for folks that don’t own their own canoes or kayaks to get out on Lake River and Vancouver Lake. We hope that with giving folks access that they become more interested in our local waterways,” Miller said.

Staff from the Water Resources Education Center sit at the front of the canoes to educate the paddlers on the local natural history and point out the various species of birds, fish and other wildlife spotted during the trip.

However much fun it may be, she said there’s more to the paddling trip than watching for osprey, bald eagles or herons. Paddlers also learn about Lake River, how it’s influenced by the Columbia River, where it flows into the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge and Vancouver Lake, and some of the issues around preserving and protecting native species.

“We provide information about water quality, and we spend a lot of time looking at the birds. This is a great place for birding. It’s also providing that spark for interest in local wildlife,” Miller said.

Each canoe is outfitted with several sets of binoculars and books on native birds to make spotting wildlife a little easier.

White said learning more about the local waterways and wildlife will come in handy later.

“When I go out with friends and I’m able to point things out, I feel very cool,” she said with a laugh. “I know what that plant is or whatever.”

Bill Lide of Vancouver has participated in other education programs offered by Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership and Vancouver.

“It’s a nice benefit of living in this area,” he said. “I don’t know birds very well, but I enjoy seeing them.”

Miller, who has been with the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership since 2005, said staff field many of the same questions on these trips.

“People are wondering if the water is safe to swim in. They want to know what wildlife live here. They are curious about where they can rent boats, how they can do this on their own,” she said.

Miller said the types of questions depend on the age group of the paddlers.

“Sometimes, we’re working mostly with kids, and they want to know if there are alligators in the water or if hippopotamus can survive here,” she said.

By comparison, Miller said adults tend to ask about cyanotoxins and what’s being done to reduce or eliminate the presence of blue-green algae blooms.

In the nearly 20 years Miller has been taking people out on the water, she’s seen a lot of changes — both good and bad. Although she doesn’t have any data to prove it, she said there do seem to be more blue-green algae blooms now than when she first started.

“One positive change is that people seem to have more access to affordable boats, so people are getting out on the water more,” she said.

Vancouver resident Anand Tawker said he was lured to the paddling trip by “the opportunity to be in nature, to explore my community. It’s a part of the community, the place I live in that I don’t get to explore much.”

Like others on the trip, Tawker was especially interested in bird-watching.

“I love the bird life around here. I’m particularly partial to raptors so I’m hoping I’ll see a bald eagle,” he said. “It’s always a grand sight.”

Body of British tech magnate Mike Lynch is among those recovered from yacht wreckage, officials say

PORTICELLO, Sicily (AP) — The Italian coast guard said Thursday the body of British tech magnate Mike Lynch is among those recovered off the coast of Sicily from the wreckage of a superyacht whose builders had called it unsinkable.

One woman remains missing. The bodies of Lynch, who had been celebrating his recent acquittal on fraud charges with his family and the people who had defended him at trial in the United States, and five others were recovered by rescue crews following Monday's tragedy.

The Bayesian, a 56-meter (184-foot) British-flagged yacht, went down in a storm early Monday as it was moored about a kilometer (half a mile) offshore. Civil protection officials said they believe the ship was struck by a tornado over the water, known as a waterspout, and sank quickly.

The chief executive of The Italian Sea Group, which owns the Bayesian's manufacturer, said superyachts like these are “the safest in the most absolute sense.”

“First of all, because they have very little surface compared to a yacht facing into the wind,” CEO Giovanni Costantino told Sky News on Wednesday. "Second, with the structure, the drift keel, they become unsinkable bodies.”

Investigators are now looking at why the Bayesian sank, killing at least six people. A seventh remains missing.

Fifteen of the 22 people aboard survived, including a mother who reported holding her 1-year-old baby over the waves to save her.

Divers have struggled to find the bodies in the yacht’s hull on the seabed 50 meters (164 feet) underwater.

“We would need a crystal ball to know when we'll be able to find the next body," said Luca Cari, spokesperson for the fire rescue service.

“It's very difficult to move inside the wreckage. Moving just one meter can take up to 24 hours,” Cari said.
