What is the MSC Yacht Club? Take a look at MSC Cruises’ luxury suite area

Ashley Kosciolek

MSC Cruises sails nearly two dozen beautiful ships from home ports around the world, but their inviting sun decks can be crowded, and you're likely to encounter queues for dinner, shows and guest services.

The trick to creating a more luxurious experience on this big-ship cruise line is to book a stay in the line's Yacht Club. This upscale enclave within MSC Cruises ' larger ships offers guests more spacious accommodations, butler service and dedicated restaurants and lounges — even coffee delivered to your room each morning, just the way you like it.

Because of the Yacht Club , MSC can offer an inviting experience for cruisers who like big-ship cruising but crave more elevated accommodations, dining and amenities. MSC Cruises was one of the first lines to introduce this ship-within-a-ship concept, along with Norwegian Cruise Line . Now other popular cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean , also have adopted it.

The Yacht Club section on several of MSC Cruises' ships offers gated access to semi-private dining, butler service and more, but it comes at a price. Find out how much you can expect to pay and what you'll get for your money.

In addition, passengers booked in the Yacht Club have access to their own dedicated bar, lounge and restaurant, as well as a semi-private outdoor bar, pool and hot tubs, all on an exclusive sun deck. When ships dock at the line's private island, Ocean Cay Marine Reserve , Yacht Club passengers have private beach and restaurant access .

In their cabins, Yacht Club cruisers will find a pillow menu, memory foam mattresses, high-quality linens, bathrooms with marble floors, a specialty coffee maker, complimentary open minibar access, one gratis bottle of spirits (choose from a list of available options), free one-time snacks, 24-hour room service and nightly turn-down chocolates from Venchi, an Italian chocolatier that partners with the cruise line.

Which MSC cruise ships have the Yacht Club?

msc yacht club location

Thirteen ships in the MSC Cruises fleet have the Yacht Club on board:

  • MSC Bellissima
  • MSC Euribia
  • MSC Fantasia
  • MSC Grandiosa
  • MSC Meraviglia
  • MSC Preziosa
  • MSC Seascape.
  • MSC Seashore.
  • MSC Seaside
  • MSC Seaview
  • MSC Splendida
  • MSC Virtuosa
  • MSC World Europa

Upcoming vessel MSC World America (2025) also will have the Yacht Club.

The largest Yacht Club in the fleet is on MSC World Europa, offering 152 suites. The second-largest is found on the line's two Seaside EVO Class ships, MSC Seashore and MSC Seascape, which each have 131 suites.

MSC Yacht Club cabins

msc yacht club location

All accommodations in the Yacht Club are labeled as suites, even though they comprise some standard cabin types. The specific stateroom types offered will vary by ship, but in general, they range from windowless interior cabins and deluxe balcony rooms to Executive and Royal Suites with more space, walk-in closets and bathrooms with both showers and bathtubs.

msc yacht club location

New to the fleet with the line's World Class are 1,600-square-foot Owner Suites, which include multi-room layouts, walk-in closets, bathtubs and balconies, each with a whirlpool and alfresco dining area.

Also new are Duplex Suites, offering two decks of space, with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a dining area, living room and guest bath downstairs. These also include two private sun decks with loungers, one of which boasts a whirlpool.

How much does it cost to stay in the MSC Yacht Club?

msc yacht club location

As you might expect, the cost to stay in the Yacht Club depends on several factors, including cabin type, the length of the sailing and where you're going and when. However, in line with the rest of the brand's pricing, a stay in the Yacht Club is an excellent value when you compare it to stays in other lines' dedicated suite areas or to luxury cruise prices.

I priced out several sailings departing over the next two years on some of the line's newest and largest ships. This is what was available at press time. (Note: MSC Cruises' website will only allow me to choose a general Yacht Club designation when booking. That means a guaranteed suite within the Yacht Club, but you won't know what type it is until closer to sailing.)

  • 7-night Caribbean and Bahamas cruise on MSC Seascape: $6,538 (including taxes) for two adults, round trip from Miami, March 16-23, 2024
  • 11-night Bermuda, Canada and New England cruise on MSC Meraviglia: $9,958 (including taxes) for two adults, round trip from Brooklyn, New York, Sept. 25-Oct. 6, 2024

MSC Splendida Review: MSC Yacht Club Experience

We just got back from a seven-day cruise to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan on board the MSC Splendida, and today we will tell you all you need to know about MSC Yacht Club Experience! Is it really worth it? Watch us until the end, and you will find out!

Today we will tell you all about our experience on board the MSC Splendida Yacht Club. But first, if you like travel-related blogs like this one, now is a great time to hit the subscribe button so you will never miss any future blogs.

Let’s begin:

What is the MSC Yacht Club?

The MSC Yacht Club is an exclusive section of some of MSC’s cruise ships that offers passengers a unique, all-inclusive cruising experience. Some people refer to it as a ship within a ship or a luxury cruise to other luxury cruises.

The MSC Yacht Club section is typically located at the top of the ship, and it’s reserved for guests who are looking for a little extra luxury and a private club. It can only be accessed with the cruise card.

MSC Yacht Club

When you book a trip with the MSC Yacht Club, you’ll have access to a range of exclusive amenities and services. For example, you’ll have a dedicated concierge who will be available to help you with any requests you might have.

They’ll even walk you to wherever you need to go! You’ll also have access to a private lounge, which serves complimentary drinks and snacks throughout the day.

But that’s just the beginning. The MSC Yacht Club also offers passengers exclusive access to a range of private spaces, including a private pool area, an MSC Yacht Club restaurant, and a bar. This means that you’ll be able to relax and unwind in your own private sanctuary, away from the hustle and bustle of the main ship.

But perhaps the best thing about the MSC Yacht Club is the level of service you’ll receive. The staff in this section of the ship are highly trained and attentive, ensuring that your every need is taken care of. Whether you need help with your luggage, want to book an excursion, or simply need a drink, the staff at the MSC Yacht Club will be on hand to assist you.

Our next topic for the Yacht Club Experience is:

Boarding MSC Yacht

One of the great perks that we noticed right away was priority boarding. In fact, when we arrived at the luxury cruise terminal, a butler was waiting for us and took us straight through immigration, check, and on the ship skipping the extra long line that other passengers had to do. Also, the butler explained to us how to use the dedicated elevator reserved for Yacht Club passengers. With this elevator, activated by our cruise card, we could go right to deck 15 or 16 without stopping on any deck in between.

Once we arrived at the dedicated MSC Yacht Club Lounge on deck 15, we were greeted with a glass of champagne while a very nice concierge lady explained to us all our Yacht Club benefits. We have to admit that the priority boarding process was incredibly smooth and efficient, with a very nice personalized touch.

Let’s move to our next topic of the MSC Yacht Club experience, and we will talk about:

We booked a Yacht Club Deluxe suite on deck 16. The cabin was quite nice, wide, and well laid out. The room had a nice couch and a little desk beside the private balcony.

MSC Yacht Club Cabin

The bed was very comfortable. We had a very nice walk-in closet with a lot of space for clothes and shoes, which we really liked.

The bathroom was wide and quite nice, with a bathtub. In our opinion, a nice big shower is better than a tub, but we know that a lot of people like to take baths.

MSC Yacht Club Bathroom

The private balcony was nice, not the widest but big enough.  We noticed a couple of things that could be improved in the cabin. First, there were no electrical plugs by the bedside tables to charge the phones.

In fact, the only plugs available were by the desk, and there were two European and two American plugs there. Second, the wood paneling in the room made the room feel a little dark. Other than those minor details, we really enjoyed our cabin.

The next topic in our Review of MSC Yacht Club is

The Yacht Club Lounge

On MSC Splendida, the Yacht Club lounge is on deck 15 all the way to the front. The area is really nice and well-designed. There is a concierge desk that takes care of all the yacht club passengers’ needs; more about that later.

Next to the concierge, there is a great big lounge with couches and tables. In the lounge, there are snacks available all the time. In the morning, they serve a light breakfast with cereals, sandwiches, and toast, and jam.

MSC Splendida Yacht Club Lounge

The lounge also has a nice big bar with complimentary drinks. We really enjoyed this area, especially on sea days we used it to work because it was really quiet and comfortable. It was also the best place for a pre-dinner aperitif.

Moving on to our next topic of the MSC Yacht Club experience:

The Yacht Club Pool

The MSC Yacht Club Pool is called “one pool” and is located on deck 18, right above the lounge. It is a very nice space with a pool, two jacuzzis, a lot of sunbeds, a bar, and a small buffet area where they serve food for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea. On our cruise, during sea days in the buffet area, the head waiter of the Yacht Club restaurant was cooking fresh pasta and other lunch items in a buffet they set up by the pool.

MSC Splendida Yacht Club Pool

We really enjoyed this area sunbathing, especially during the sea days. It is never super busy and always has sun beds available for us away from the huge crowds of the main pools on the ship.

The MSC Yacht Club Pool area is also incredibly private. In fact, we asked the concierge if it was possible to invite guests, and the answer was no. The area is for Yacht Club members only.

One Pool - MSC Yacht Club

Next, we will talk about:

The Yacht Club Restaurant

On the MSC Splendida, the Yacht Club’s dedicated restaurant is called Olivo, and it is located on deck 15 all the way aft above the main buffet. We heard that on newer ships the MSC Yacht Club restaurant is located above or below the yacht club lounge, but on this particular ship it was outside the exclusive yacht club area. That’s probably because the MSC Splendida was the first ship to get retrofitted with the yacht club.

MSC Splendida Yacht Club L'Olivo Restaurant

The restaurant is open seating, and Yacht Club passengers can go anytime during opening hours. It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The specialty restaurant’s ambiance is excellent, very intimate and wide, with a lot of natural light. The service is absolutely impeccable. Every waiter is perfectly trained, knowledgeable and really friendly.

Yacht Club L'Olivo restaurant service

In this restaurant’s menu, there are always one or two items that are not available on the menu in the main dining room; for example, on the second formal night, they served lobster that was not on the menu in the main dining room.

Moving on to our next topic of the MSC Yacht Club experience, we will talk about:

The Service for MSC Yacht Club Guests

The service at MSC Splendida Yacht Club is impeccable. The MSC Yacht Club perk is that a 24-hour butler service is available, which is really nice.

MSC Splendida Yacht Club Butler

We did not ask our butler to unpack and pack for us, but that is one of the butler services that they provide. We can totally tell that the butler service takes great pride in providing stunning service and that they genuinely care about their MSC Yacht Club guests.

Our butler Augustine was incredibly friendly and attentive, always available but never intrusive. Very well done!

The concierge desk was there to take care of passengers’ needs. They were there to help with almost every aspect of the MSC cruise, from excursions to billing.

This came particularly helpful the day before arriving at the port of Sokhna when the Egyptian border agent came on board to stamp everyone’s passports. We did not have to go to see the agent, but the concierge took care of this step for us to avoid the long lines.

Also, the future cruise consultant was available at the concierge lounge by appointment for MSC Yacht Club passengers. Really stunning service.

Our next item to review about the MSC Yacht Club review is:

What is Included in MSC Yacht Club?

One of the best benefits of MSC Yacht Club perks, aside from the amazing service, is the fact that it is a truly all-inclusive experience. In fact, when you book a yacht club cabin, you have the Premium Extra Drink Package included. The MSC Yacht Club offers a package that includes drinks up to €13 euros.

Now one thing to consider is that if you order a drink that costs €14, for example, you will be charged the whole amount, not the €1.00 difference as other cruise lines do. It also included is the premium internet package, with unlimited use for two devices per passenger.

Another thing that is included is unlimited access to Thermal Suite in the MSC Aurea Spa, even though on this voyage, people at the spa told us that we had to make a reservation before going. Now we brought this up to the concierge, and they said that it wasn’t true. We did not have to make a reservation.

MSC Splendida Spa

The MSC Yacht Club offers gratuities and 24-hour room service. Basically, the only items not included were the excursions, spa treatments, onboard shopping, drinks over 13 euros, and the Casino.

Moving on to the next topic of our MSC Yacht Club experience, we will talk about:

Yacht Club passengers have priority access to shore when going on an excursion. Basically, we had to meet our own personal butler at the sail lounge at the time specified on the excursion ticket, and he then took us to the gangway skipping all the lines for security, passport controls, etc.

MSC Excursion in Petra Jordan

Same thing on the way back from excursions. A butler was always by the gangway escorting us to the front of the line and back to our lounge. Now, this service is excellent because it allows Yacht Club Passengers to skip all the long lines, but there is a downside.

Since we were always the first passengers on the bus, we then had to wait on the bus for all the other passengers to arrive. Sometimes the wait was up to an hour. Now considering that some excursions on this itinerary required two and half hours bus ride, an extra hour before departure was quite long.

In our opinion, it would be better if MSC reserved the seats on the bus for Yacht Club passengers (they already know who they are) and let them off the ship when the bus was almost ready to go.

MSC Cruises Ships

MSC Cruises is getting bigger and better. There are a lot of special things to discover on each MSC cruise ship when you go sailing with them as a member of the MSC Yacht Club.

Their huge fleets include:

MSC Seashore

MSC Seashore is like her sister ships, MSC Seaside and MSC Seaview. Most of the places people go on the ship are different than before.

MSC Seashore has new places to play, eat and hang out outside. There are also more rooms for people to stay in and more space for everyone.

You can sit back, relax, and enjoy all that MSC Seashore offers. MSC Seashore is the first of two special ships. It has technology that helps it use energy more efficiently.

The MSC Cruise has been fitted with the fleet’s largest and most luxurious MSC Yacht Club, with almost 3,000 sqm of space, including a bigger solarium and a panoramic whirlpool.

MSC Seashore’s 13,000 sqm of outdoor spaces, from pools and lounge areas to Speciality Restaurant seating areas, bring guests closer to the sea than ever before, making them truly.

MSC Meraviglia

You can experience the ultimate sea adventure on MSC Meraviglia. This magnificent ship boasts incredible features such as gourmet dining, amazing entertainment options, panoramic areas, an ocean-view lounge, a two-deck “inside promenade” complete with an LED dome, and an amusement area attached to an outdoor water park.

Best of all, MSC Meraviglia features late-night and overnight stays on MSC Cruise’s exclusive private island.

MSC Virtuosa

The name MSC Virtuosa is from the word virtuoso which means someone who is very good at something. MSC Cruises gave it this name to honor the people who designed and built the ship. They are very talented and skilled.

This new cruise ship is one of the biggest in the MSC Cruises fleet. It has lots of special features that work together to give you the best vacation ever! Moreover, it’s the MSC Grandiosa’s sister ship.

Conclusions

In conclusion, the Yacht Club on board MSC is really excellent product. It not only allows passengers to enjoy a ship within a ship but also provides a great service that is much more personalized and attentive than what you’d expect with a standard MSC product.

The MSC Yacht Club allows passengers to avoid long lines for embarkation, excursions, or even restaurants. The downside is the price.

msc yacht club location

The cruise costs almost twice as much as a regular balcony cabin. Everything is indeed included, but the price difference is quite steep. In fact, when you’re looking at this price point, luxury cruise lines now become comparables.

We really enjoyed our week on board the MSC Splendida Yacht Club and will do it again for sure, maybe next time on a different itinerary.

We hope you enjoyed our blog, and as usual, if you have any questions, please leave a comment below.

I tried a ship-within-a-ship cruise experience and it was worth it for the endless perks—here’s why

The MSC Yacht Club affords travelers a totally different cruising experience, but you’ll have to splurge.

Erica Lamberg

I heard tales of luxury from people about the ritzy MSC Yacht Club , the ship-within-a-ship concept where discerning passengers enjoy their own area of the cruise ship that includes a dedicated restaurant, private lounge, separate pool and sundeck as well as private butlers and concierges to take of any whim while cruising. The elevated Yacht Club boasts priority everything while sailing MSC.

I sailed on a four-night cruise on the new MSC Seashore, a glitzy ship with Italian flair intermingled with references to New York City at every turn. Although the ship was well-appointed and had amazing dining, drinking and entertainment venues, and a bountiful Top Sail main buffet, thousands of passengers made the ship feel crowded at times, elevators were slow, and as I strolled through the general pools, they were boisterous and crowded.

RECOMMENDED: 10 things about cruising on an adults-only ship that might surprise you

Switch gears to MSC Seashore’s Yacht Club, passkey-protected for lucky guests, and is a 180 from the ship’s general spaces. Once you scan your handy Yacht Club wrist badge, or your room key, you’re instantly given entrance to a breathtaking retreat of 131 staterooms and suites. All this luxury does come at a price. Cruise fares will vary based on destination, time of year, and cabin category, but generally speaking you can expect to pay double for the Yacht Club. And from my experience, it’s worth it. Read more about why you should splurge.

You’re fast-tracked through everything

The Yacht Club’s exclusivity and impeccable service standard started from the moment I got dropped off at the Port Canaveral cruise terminal. There were hundreds of people waiting to board at 1pm on embarkation day. I saw in the distance a canopy that said MSC Yacht Club. My husband and I wheeled our carry-on luggage to the representative under the canopy. I gave her my name and within two seconds, she gave me a sticker to wear and up we ascended on the escalator to check in. Just five minutes later, I was directed to the dedicated check-in area for Yacht Club guests. To my right, I saw about 1,000 people serpentine through ropes to do general check-in. I felt a sense of relief; who wants to wait in that line? Five minutes later, a butler from the Yacht Club insisted on wheeling my luggage to board the ship and I was in my room in a total on 12 minutes from the time I stepped foot out of the car to my stateroom in the Yacht Club.

Relaxing and streamlined

In addition, Yacht Club guests have the freedom to get off the ship first for excursions. Your butler will happily escort you off the ship with a smile. Guests also can disembark on the last morning first, which is a big convenience. Your butler walks you right to the place you disembark, bypassing crowds and hassles. Port Canaveral is about an hour away from Orlando International Airport, and we took a 10 am flight home. We didn’t have to linger around until the afternoon for our flight home.

Another perk is that there’s a special seating area in the theater for shows. All the shows were excellent during my voyage. All other ship passengers have to make reservations in advance for shows but that’s not the case for the privileged Yacht Club passengers. As long as you arrive about 10 minutes before any show you choose, a crew member from the Club will allow you entry into a special roped-off section. Again, no rushing through dinner—you have the flexibility to plan your evenings your way.

MSC Seashore

Your Yacht Club package is packed with remarkable value

The price tag may sound daunting, but there’s lots of value there. All Yacht Club cabins and suites include a premium drink package that covers beverages up to $15. You can use this perk both in the Yacht Club and throughout the ship. In addition, your package includes a two-device Wi-Fi package, which worked well during my sailing. Finally, you get access to the thermal spa suite, which is a place to indulge after a day in port or a sea day. Commonly, there’s a taboo regarding mini-bars, but not in the Yacht Club. It’s stocked each day with the beverages you want; just tell your butler and consider it done.

You get perks ashore too

If your sailing includes a call to Ocean Cay, MSC’s private island, Yacht Club guests get an elevated experience there too. Yacht Club guests enjoy a private area, and a dedicated restaurant called the Ocean House. While other ship guests were hosted to a buffet of predictable fare, I enjoyed a lobster roll, and my husband chose carne asada. In my opinion, one thing that could be improved was the tram service to the Yacht Club’s private area. We were told the last tram back was 3:30pm if we didn’t want to trek a 15-minute walk in the heat. Since we were docked in Ocean Cay for the evening and weren’t sailing, I was a bit dismayed by this logistical quirk. I felt like I was keeping an eye on my phone to make sure I didn’t miss the last tram.

You have private areas with curated food and drink and outdoor spaces

Within the Yacht Club complex, there’s the Yacht Club Restaurant, Top Sail Lounge and the One Pool Buffet, which are all exclusive to Yacht Club guests. Obviously, the food and service are steps above other dining venues of the ship, I can vouch for that. Although the food is delicious, if you don’t want to pay extra to dine at the specialty restaurants or fuss in the main buffet, eating three meals a day in the Yacht Club restaurant can get a bit monotonous. The breakfast is the same daily, and lunch and dinner offer a menu with daily specials plus a few standby selections like a hamburger or pasta each day. Although the Yacht Club Restaurant concept is desirable, I would strongly suggest dining in other venues on board, especially for dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed specialty dining in Ocean Cay Restaurant, Butcher’s Cut, and Kaito Teppanyaki. I also want to mention that late afternoon high tea is offered daily at the Yacht Club Restaurant. It was one of the nicest I have experienced at sea.

MSC Seashore

Also available exclusively to Yacht Club passengers is the Top Sail Lounge, which offers panoramic water views and has chef-curated selections from morning through late night. We enjoyed popping into the lounge at all hours to try finger foods and sweets. The One Pool Buffet offers a more casual option for breakfast and lunch by the pool. The buffet has grilled fish, sandwiches and lots of delicious options if you want to dine outside.

There’s also an exclusive area with a private pool and two whirlpools for Yacht Club guests only. The sun deck loungers are very comfortable and I never had to worry about finding a lounger, there are ample. One issue I had was that there was almost no shade on the sun deck; there were shaded day beds for Royal Suite and Owners Suite guests, but beyond those, I couldn’t find any shade, which was disappointing.

You can justify the price at the end of your cruise

Overall, the best way to explain my enthusiasm for my MSC Yacht Club experience is this: it’s better to book an interior stateroom in the Yacht Club than a luxe cabin outside the Yacht Club. It’s worth the splurge and you return home feeling truly pampered and it’s money well-spent. And I make this prediction: Once you try a ship-within-a-ship concept like the MSC Yacht Club, you won’t want cruise any other way. Bon Voyage!

Been there, done that? Think again, my friend.

Seaside, they have cushion loungers and a great grill pool side and plenty of room.

50+ Club

So do the other ships I believe.

mafig

I don't think all the ships have a Yacht Club area.

TrinaLC

Divina has a very modest grill, nothing like Seaside. Nor does it have padded chaises. But Divina has its own charms.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

That wasn't the question. I was talking about YC specific ships.

max996

I haven't cruised every MSC ship equipped with Yacht Club amenities, but I'd have to say either Divina or Meraviglia. I've cruised Divina in YC and my family and I had a great time. We've got Seaside booked, but from the reviews from YC cruisers I'm hearing that Seaside YC isn't staffed to the level that Divina is (apparently by design). This is having an affect on levels of service for those who have experienced Divina. But for someone who hasn't yet cruised MSC Yacht Club, I don't think it's a big problem. MSC's Yacht Club offers the most affordable luxury in the cruise industry and my wife and I love it.

Great Review

Cruisergal1208

Reviews from the last few weeks are saying there is a big improvement in the Butler experience on Seaside. Will see for myself in a few weeks. :)

250+ Club

Recent YC Seaside reviews have been Very good.

We as well will know next month . Booked in the Seaside YC May 12th. Last 4 Cruises within NCL Haven.

Looking forward to MSC and the YC !

No service issues at all in YC Seaside. Wonderful service all around, all staff.

Fake News...LOL I saw our Butler and other butlers always around the Pool Bar/Grill as well as by our cabin regularly. We even had Pool Attendants...(guys in red shirts who work the deck, move chairs, etc) ask us if we needed anything or offered to get us a drink. I cannot recall waiting once...excellent service and attention. As a fyi....I was on 3/24 sailing

New to msc, very interested in the yacht club. Which MSC ship has the best Yacht Club?   Is there any big differences between them?
I have only experience on two MSC ships, the Davina and Seaside. I have been on the Divina YC in October and just recently on the Seaside YC in early March. Frankly in my opinion there is no comparison. The YC on Seaside blows the Davina away, in all areas, grill, pool, amenities, butler service, cleanliness, overall service and dining experience. NOT that I find fault with the Davina ( as the Davina blew away anything NCL has within the Haven areas). It was just the surprise on how much the Seaside YC experience was improved over the Davina was impressive. As far as "limited" or "diminished" service goes....Well perhaps in the number of service staff to patron, but with regard to quality, professionalism, and efficiency of service my wife and I were so impressed with the staff, and management of the Seaside. Their attention to detail, and personal service was far superior to their counter parts on the Davina . In the dining room we had multiple waitstaff and were not "assigned" to any particular waitstaff areas or table. So I was able to experience multiple staff in a variety of functions. Each being attentive and professional. The layout of the YC on Seaside is more geared toward patron interaction, and relaxation, Padded lounge chairs, shaded dining areas, and pool attendants who are more than happy to assist you in anyway they can. Plus I did not have to walk the entire length of the ship when i wanted to have dinner as the restaurant for the Davina YC is aft while the cabins are forward. On the Seaside, both are forward . Customer Service personnel were equal, but I found the food a bit better on the Seaside. I hope this helped.

I've never been in the YC on the Davina or Seaside--we travel this June--but I'm curious that you thing the Davina YC "blows away" the NCL Haven. We have been in the Haven three times on two different ships (Getaway and Escape), and those experiences were fabulous. Your point may be true on the older NCL ships without a dedicated Haven area/restaurant, but I'm curious what you are basing this opinion on (new ship vs. new ship).

I’ve been in NCL Haven on Breakaway. There is no comparison. NCL Haven feels like steerage in comparison. Only equivalent is the dining room.

Please explain this. Amenities, staff experience, etc.?

The real estate: private sun deck, pool, hot tubs on beautiful upper deck, not shoe-horned like Haven. Wonderful meals on deck, including breakfast and lunch full service buffets, grill at lunch, heavy hors d’oeuvres late afternoon. Wonderful service. Lounge many times the size of Haven, bow of ship, great views, and outdoor wraparound (on Seaside). All inclusive without extra service charge. And at a fraction of the cost. I would not do Haven again even if it cost 33% less than YC!

I have to fully agree with TrinaLC. We were in the Haven Escape in Oct 2016. I surprised my husband with the Haven Spa Suite. He loved it and said we’d never cruise again unless it was in that type of atmosphere—ship within a ship. I thought oh great, we’ll never sail again. Then I saw MSC Divina’s YC. So we booked it for October 2017. We have never cruised 2 years in a row. We had the suite on 12, the one without the balcony. I was afraid we’d miss it. The the views we had from the bow was fantastic. On the Davina the Haven cabins are all over the ship, most of them on 16 where the Lounge was. We were blown away with the service and the amenities. The pool area on Divina blew away the little courtyard on the Escape. When on a cruise I like to enjoy the sun and the sea views. On the Escape it was a hot steamy spa atmosphere. The roof was never open. The Haven restaurant was awesome with very attentive staff. However, on the Divina, the waitstaff always greeted us by name. Loretto, our waitress, knew the wine I liked and never let my glass get more than 1/2 empty, but she never assumed. When we sat down she made sure I was drinking the same wine. My DH likes to change his wines up. The food was phenomenal. They change their menu up with a few nightly staples. The Haven restaurant always had the same menu which I think they do that so that you go to the specialty restaurants. My cost conscious DH was so blown over by the Divina that he suggested that we take our DD, her DH, her DD and her DS on on.cruise in summer of 2019 for our 70th birthdays and our 50th anniversary. So we are booked on the Seaside in two cabins in the YC in July of 2019. With the reviews I’m seeing of the Seaside’s YC, I’m so excited looking forward to this cruise. It’s a long way away, but I know the time will fly. We, like TrinaLC, would not do Haven again even if the prices were a lot less than YC. Happy cruising.

We need to stop selling [emoji3]

We need to stop selling [emoji3]     Sent from my iPad using Forums

LOL! I just might agree with you there.;)

The Divina has YC2 cabins the Seaside does not

Some people do not like these because they are 3 decks down from the main Yacht club area and do not have balconies. They were only about $200. more than the YC1

The tradeoff is the size. There are only 3 of these and take the entire front of the ship.

Totally separate bedroom and living room. Both have floor to ceiling windows. They have solid doors to close off.

You can leave the drapes open and wake to the entire sunrise.

Like a small apartment minus the kitchen

Living room has a full size couch and 2 big stuffed chairs and large TV plus other furniture.

off the bedroom is a separate dressing table area which is across from a giant walkin closet. There is a large TV in the bedroom. With the doors closed, you could have both TVs on and not disturb each other.

There is another good size closet when you first enter the cabin. There is a safe in each closet.

The bathroom has separate shower and jetted tub and 2 sinks,

We would usually get the YC2

Felt a bit cramped in the YC1 on Seaside but there is NOTHING like the Yacht Club experience. Once you have done it, you cannot go back.

I finally booked seaside yc for next summer 2019..thanks everyone.

Does anyone remember what time the yc pools/hot tubs were open until?

Also is room service free?

In haven we used the insuite dining alot from the haven restaurant...does yc offer something like this?

  • 7 months later...

I would also like to know about the room service.

Room service is free and you can even order a whole pizza to your room for a late night snack! ( I highly recommend this!)

21 Important Things to Know About MSC Cruise

A re you going on a cruise on MSC cruise? Here are some essential cruise tips and important things to know about MSC cruises that will help you maximize your cruise vacation.

Texting is free at MSC Cruise! You can text for free via the MSC Cruise app chat feature. The best part is you don’t even have to be subscribed to their WiFi plan. You can just connect to their free MSC WiFi hotspot to access the cruise app for texting. It’s a great feature to have so you can easily communicate and make plans with family and friends during your cruise. The only downside is that they won’t let kids join the chat feature for privacy reasons so my 12 year old son was always left out of the family group chat.

White Party

Don’t forget to pack your white outfit for the White Party on MSC. The White Party is a well-loved event on MSC cruises.

On the night of the White Party, you’ll spot a lot of people dressed in white for dinner. This popular event takes place on the pool deck after dinner. The atmosphere is fun and family-friendly, with black lights making your white clothes glow.

The cruise staff even organizes group dances to get everyone up and dancing. While it’s not mandatory to wear white, joining in the fun adds to the experience. Besides, it’s the perfect opportunity to capture a family photo after dinner, with everyone decked out in white attire.

Dinner Assignment

At MSC Cruise, you will receive your table, restaurant, and dining time assignment on the first day of your cruise. This information will be printed on your cruise key card.

If you’re not happy with your dinner assignment, you should go to the designated food and beverage staff on the first day, who will handle any changes.

Main Dining Room

When you board the ship, find out which dining rooms have three seatings. You want to be seated in the dining room with only two seatings; otherwise, you will feel rushed during dinner.

If you end up being assigned to the dining room with three seating areas, see if you can switch to another dining room on the first day.

It’s Not all Pizza and Pasta

You’ve probably read reviews praising the pizza and pasta on MSC cruise ships since it’s an Italian cruise line. While the pizza and pasta are undeniably good (the lasagna is even better than the pizza), you’ll also find a range of sophisticated food options on MSC cruises.

Some of the stand-out dishes on MSC cruises are braised short ribs, osso bucco, fried calamari, Japanese karaage chicken, Caprese salad, shrimp cocktail, French onion soup, and vegetable spring rolls.

Make sure you have cake for dessert at your next MSC cruise! Their cakes have been consistently delicious.

The carrot cake is delicious, and the Grandma’s Chocolate cake is amazing.

Delicious Caesar Salad

The Caesar salad on MSC Meragvilia is amazing. It’s, without a doubt, the best Caesar salad I’ve ever had on any cruise ship.

It’s so good that my son, who never eats vegetables, got hooked. He can’t get enough Caesar salad!

I don’t know if this is unique to MSC Meragvilia or if the Caesar salad is equally amazing on all MSC cruise ships. (I sure hope so!)

Restaurant Menu

Unlike other cruise lines, the restaurant menu at MSC Cruises is not printed. The waiters typically bring a few printed menus, but it’s never enough for everyone at the table. Guests are expected to scan the QR code on their table to access the menu electronically on their phones.

It’s quite inconvenient. In my experience, we always end up sharing menus, which is not ideal and detracts from the dining experience. Also, not everyone has a phone, especially kids, so you’ll inevitably have to share menus from a tiny cellphone screen!

Free Juices

MSC Cruise serves complimentary lemonade, iced tea, and a selection of juices, including apple, pineapple, and mango. The best part is that these complimentary drinks are available all day, not just during breakfast. You can help yourself to these free beverages from the drink dispenser at the buffet.

Book Shore Excursions in Advance

If you want to save money, you should book your shore excursions in advance. It really is a lot cheaper to book it online on MSC’s website prior to boarding the ship.

Do know that they close advance bookings two days before sailing. I tried to book the day before, and it didn’t work. So, don’t procrastinate on this.

Even rentals on Ocean Cay, their private island, are cheaper if you book ahead. For example, if you book an umbrella rental in advance, it’s $19 per day, but if you wait until the cruise, it’s $29 per day.

Keycard on the Door

When checking in, instead of receiving your cruise keycard at the terminal like with other cruise lines, you’ll be directed to your cabin, where your keycards will be hanging on the door.

Cruise Card Kiosks

Before boarding your MSC cruise, you’ll have the option to link your credit card to your cruise card on the MSC cruise website. If you don’t, you can link your credit card on the cruise ship or pay in cash during the cruise.

If you are worried you will have to stand in line at guest services just to link your credit card, don’t worry. The nice thing about MSC Cruise is you can easily link your credit card to your cabin keycard at the cruise card kiosks located throughout the ship. There is no need to waste your time standing in line at guest services!

MSC Cruise App

Don’t forget to download the MSC cruise app before you board the ship. You can also download it while you’re on the ship, but I think it’s easier and probably faster to do it using your home WiFi.

The MSC cruise app is a must while you’re on board. It allows you to text other passengers, check your billing statement, and make theater reservations.

Daily Planner

Don’t be surprised if you don’t get a printed daily planner delivered to your cabin every evening. Instead, you’re supposed to use a QR code to access a digital version of the daily planner as a PDF.

Personally, I find it a bit inconvenient because I’m always searching for the paper with the QR code on it. I really wish they would just print out the daily planner! Or at least give you the option to get a printed daily planner if you want.

You’ll need to book theater reservations for your cruise. There are three seatings to choose from.

A cruise staff member will be at the door to scan your cruise card so you cannot sneak into the theater. If you don’t have reservations, you can still watch the show. All you have to do is wait for the staff to leave and go in late. But do know, you will end up with bad seats.

My advice is to reserve your theater seats for every evening using the MSC cruise app. It’s easy—just do it on the first day, and you won’t have to worry about it again.

You can register for the Kids Club on embarkation day. Complete a registration form, and your child will receive a wristband that they must wear throughout the entire cruise. This only applies to children under 12 years old.

Those older than 12 don’t need to register and won’t get a wristband. They can just hang out at the teen club, which has video games, board games and foosball.

Adults Only Pool

There is an adults-only pool on MSC cruises. On MSC Meragvilia, the adults-only pool is at the back of the cruise ship. It’s an outdoor pool with a bar, hot tubs and plenty of lounge chairs.

Do Online Check-In with a Camera

When checking in online for your MSC cruise, make sure to use a computer with a built-in camera. It’s important to have a camera because you’ll be required to take a picture of yourself during the check-in process.

Also, make sure you are in a well-lit area. The website is very sensitive and will ask you to move to a brighter location to take your photo.

Also, after completing your online check-in, make sure you have access to a printer so you can print out your cruise documents, which are needed at the cruise terminal on embarkation day. You will also need to print out your luggage tags for your check-in luggage.

Different Levels

MSC Cruises is quite similar to Norwegian Cruise Lines in terms of having different classes for passengers. For Norwegian, there are haven and non-haven passengers, while MSC Cruise has the Yacht Club and non-Yacht Club passengers. However, MSC Cruise further divides non-Yacht Club passengers into 3 different classes.

On MSC Cruise, the lowest class is the Bella Experience. This means you pay the cheapest fare, but you can’t select your cruise cabin; it’s like a guaranteed fare. As a Bella passenger, you’ll incur several extra fees, such as additional room service fees.

The next level up is the Fantastica experience, which is the second cheapest cruise fare. The main advantage is being able to choose your cruise cabin in advance.

For both Bella and Fantastica passengers, the dining room seating is assigned. Upon boarding the cruise ship, you’ll be allocated a restaurant, table, and dining time. I honestly think there is not much difference between Bella and Fantastic Experience.

The next level up is the Aurea experience passenger. Aurea passengers pay more for their cruise but receive premium rooms, such as mid-ship cabins with larger balconies or cabins with jacuzzi in their private terraces. They also have access to the spa thermal area, the solarium, and they get priority boarding.

The most significant difference is that they have anytime dining, allowing Aurea passengers to eat whenever they want, seated in a less crowded section of the main dining room. If you value the spa experience, then Aurea is worth it, but if not, you’ll be happy as a Fantastica passenger.

One thing to note is that the food menu remains the same for Aurea, Fantastica, and Bella passengers. Aurea passengers also go to the same buffet as Fantastica and Bella passengers.

Finally, the most expensive and most exclusive level on MSC Cruises is the Yacht Club. Yacht Club passengers receive the red carpet treatment, a suite with access to the exclusive Yacht Club restaurant, solarium, and Ocean House beach on Ocean Cay. They experience VIP treatment with a dedicated butler and perks like reserved seats at the theater. Plus, they receive priority embarkation, and everything is included, such as a premium beverage package, high-speed internet, and thermal spa access.

Room Service

If you’re sailing with MSC Cruises, be aware that there is a charge for room service. This is not unique to MSC since many other cruise lines also charge a fee for room service.

Continental breakfast room service is complimentary for Fantastica passengers, but if you order non-continental breakfast items like eggs, omelets, and breakfast meats, you will be charged a room service fee.

For Bella experience passengers, there is a room service charge regardless of whether you order continental or non-continental breakfast. It is much more expensive to order non-continental breakfast.

If your cruise stops at Ocean Cay, MSC Cruise Line’s private island in the Bahamas, you shouldn’t miss it! It’s an incredibly beautiful private island, arguably one of the best among cruise line private islands.

The water is stunning turquoise, and the sand is incredibly soft and white. The island has over seven beaches, ranging from secluded private beaches to the exclusive Ocean House beach for Yacht Club passengers and lagoon-facing beaches. The best part is there is no need for tender boats to get to Ocean Cay; the cruise ship can dock directly at the island!

There’s also a lighthouse on the island, and at night, there is a beautiful evening lighthouse show. If you’re on the starboard side of the cruise ship, you can even catch the lighthouse show from your balcony cabin. I really have no way of judging...we are just interested in a Social Membership, new to the area, want to meet new people. To us, that means social events which include food and drink. However, as a prospective member (with no boat) you cannot try the food or drink for quality unless you join first... and being new to the area, don't yet know any members who would treat us or introduce us to the club. Kind of like buying by a car but can't test drive it first, or buying anything unseen, like a marriage before a date.

We attended a celebration here, and it was lovely. The location is perfect, right in Mission Beach, off of the Santa Clara parking lot. They have their own parking, which is a lifesaver in the summer. The club is definitely older in decor, but kept up well. Aside from the decor, the alcohol prices also transported me back in time. Drinks were about $5 each. Aside from our large party, there were many other members hosting small groups. They have a private beach area to get some sun, sand, and water. I miss living in MB!

I've been here a few times, and I've never had a bad experience. The staff are always friendly, though not always quick with your order. The grounds are beautiful, with outdoor showers, and bathrooms worthy of a Starbucks. Being that it's private property, you can drink alcohol on the beach - where else can you do that in San Diego?! My only complaint would be the parking - the lot is usually reserved for members only, and parking in nearby Mission Bay is nearly impossible. Despite that though, I always look forward to my next day at MBYC!

Gathering with work colleagues. Food: 4.5 Stars Atmosphere: 4.5 Stars Service: 4 Stars Best part of this place is the view. So beautiful. You can go to the bar and order a drink and/or food from the walk-up counter. I was there with about a dozen colleagues and everyone was happy with their meals and drinks. I had shrimp tacos that were amazing. The price is right, parking was easy, and there were plenty of places to eat. This could be a fun stop on a date night or a great location for a large group. Since the bar and dining area are separate, kids are welcome in the dining area. If you don't want kids around you can sit in the bar. For a casual night out this is a solid location.

Love the bar, their tasty menu and amazing chef, hosted events and we had our small wedding reception in the Fleet room. Jason the GM is wonderful and worked with us to create an amazing menu and a great party.

After joining MBYC in 11/2022, I now spend many happy days here. Already traveled by sailboat, Kayak, Paddle Boat, bus, NCL Bliss Boat to Mexico, motor launch out to local waters and bike, I recommend the MBYC to anyone wanting fun. I celebrate all Holidays and most days meet new friends from around the world. Family Tradition here is huge and they have included me events I have dreamed about for years. Come join us, 'cause it's 5 o'clock somewhere, Cheers!

Could use a little updating, but the feel is very homey and they have a nice view for the Sea World Fireworks! I've been to their Friday dinners and I have enjoyed the outdoor seating by the water. I'll update this as I have more experiences here. :)

Driving here reminded me of a nightmare I had one night where we had to drive through all these little alleys, nooks and crannies to only hit a dead end and zombies started coming out and attacked us. I thought our GPS was going nuts when we were driving through these small roads, but low and behold, it dropped us off at this parking lot over the water. We weren't sure where the yacht club was but after pacing up and down, it was straight ahead, past the parking lot we parked in. The yacht club reminds me of a senior center I used to go to visit my grandfather, it had an old carpet smell to it and you to your left, at the bar, are some older gentlemen and women who are there to have a good time. We walked into the dining area, where our college alumni event was. Rather nice set up with a buffet line, cozy fire place and some nice deck views outside. The buffet food wasn't bad, not even sure if it's catered by the Yacht club, but I think my favorite part of being here was sitting out on the deck and watching the lit up yachts go by at night. Peaceful and serene.

I love this no frills yacht club! It's close to my apt and the staff is always friendly. Al at the bar pours a stiff drink for sure. No complaints there and the popcorn at the bar is a yummy snack while you have some cocktails. Jimmer is the best sailing coach around too.
