The Ligurian coast offers more than just world-famous sites like Portofino and Cinque Terre. The Riviera, which stretches from France to Tuscany, is home to a broad range of destinations where summer fun and gastronomic elights collide with medieval heritage and nautical customs. The Ligurian coast, once home to the Republic of Genoa and repeatedly raided by Saracen pirates, is now a popular tourist destination with both well-known attractions and lesser-known gems. The western 'Riviera di Ponente' is more suitable to sand lovers, whilst the eastern 'Riviera di Levante' is more suited to shingle and rocks.

Famous for producing olive oil, pasta and flowers, Imperia in the Liguria region is also the capital of the Imperia province. Tourists flock to the city to shop at the central Via Bonfante with its arcades, Galleria Isnardi and the most exclusive boutiques of Galleria degli Orti

Two historical districts in the city – Oneglia and Porto Maurizio – lie on either sides of the Impero River. Porto Maurizio on the western side is a wealthy place of many narrow winding lines while Oneglia on the east is more industrial and modern, old fishermen’s houses notwithstanding. Places to see include the Duomo di San Maurizio , Dante Square, the Palazzo dei Doria, remnants of the 17th century walls commissioned by the Savoia family and the Church of the Annunziata with its neoclassic façade.

Final results - 2021 Imperia Winter Regatta

A new edition of the traditional Imperia Winter Regatta concluded this week at Yacht Club Imperia.

The 2021 Imperia Winter Regatta concluded after 4 days of races. The event was organised by Yacht Club Imperia.

260 sailors from 6 nations (Italy, France, Germany, Poland, Spain and Switzerland) participated of the 420 class competitions.

Orlando Reginato / Nicola Brunotti ITA were the overall champions in the Open division, escorted on podium by the Spanish teams formed by Pau Llibre / Alberto Marsans ESP and Nora Lasurt / Javi Mestre ESP. 6 races were held for the 86 boats participating of this competition.

The Women's championship counted with 40 boats on water and the winners after 7 races were Maria Perello / Marta Cardona ESP, followed by Valentina Steinlein / Lea Adolph GER and Alice Vandi / Juliette Bourgeois FRA.
