Five of the Best Boats to Book on Airbnb in Vancouver
We highlight some of the best boats you can book and stay in through Airbnb in the city of Vancouver.
With thousands of choices for short term rentals in Vancouver you may have overlooked a fun and relaxing option, a boat. We’re highlighting some of the best and most charming boat stays for your next visit to Vancouver. From luxurious private rooms and cruises on Coal Harbour’s waters to more rustic stays on a classic tug boat, if you’ve been looking to spend a night on the water then this list is for you.
Classic 1940 Tug Boat Experience
$164 per night.
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/37815105
This 1948 tug boat used to tow logs across the water but has now been repurposed into an adorable Airbnb stay. When booking you’ll have the entire tug boat to yourself, which has a cosy downstairs living space with a sofa that turns into a queen-sized bed along with a full kitchen and table. On the rooftop deck of the boat, there is a barbeque and a hot tub to relax and soak in the gorgeous views of downtown Vancouver .
This beautiful 1940’s tug boat is located in False Creek right near Granville Island, and when you book this boat you’ll be picked up and dropped off in a shuttle boat from Granville Island. Guests will also have access to a dinghy for complete independence to get back to shore. While this boat has essentials and amenities like heating and cooking materials, it doesn’t have wifi, so be sure to bring some old school entertainment for when you’re out on the water!
Sailboat Experience with Downtown Vancouver View
$178 per night.
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/37463793
Anchored in False Creek right by downtown Vancouver and Granville Island, this 43 foot sailboat built in France offers a gorgeous stay on the water for up to six guests. With two bedrooms equipped with a queen sized and double bed, the spacious sailboat also has two bathrooms and a fully functional kitchen with a refrigerator. Guests also have access to an outdoor barbeque grill on the top of the boat, where they can relax and enjoy the tranquility of the water around them.
Guests will have free pickup and drop-off to the boat from any public dock, and can choose between various anchoring locations for free or be docked at Granville Island Marine for an additional fee. Keep in mind that while there is power on board, it shouldn’t be used for much more than the boat’s lighting, charging phones and laptops, and powering an indoor or outdoor stereo system. Along with this, the sailboat doesn’t have central heating or wifi, so be sure to bring an extra layer and book to enjoy for when you’re out on the water.
Vancouver Lazy River Retreat
$109 per night.
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/39108160
While the rest of these boat stays are right around downtown Vancouver and Granville Island, this lazy river retreat is a perfect way to get out of the city into the nature-surrounded waters of the Fraser River. Two bedrooms with queen size beds provide a comfortable stay for a family or 2 couples, this gorgeous boat is built for enjoying the outdoors while also being spacious and well-furnished inside. The boat has a spacious covered top deck with comfy couches and a hot tub case, and a covered BBQ area in the back, ready for all weather situations.
One of the great things about this stay is the private dock, allowing easy access to local hiking trails. Kayaks are provided to paddle around the Fraser River if your feeling adventurous. This boat stay also comes with the luxury of wifi, so you can still Netflix and chill, while relaxing on the water.
Galasea – Private Room and Luxury Cruise around Vancouver
$1,000 per night.
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/34250254
While this boat stay may not suit every budget, for luxury travelers it offers an incredibly unique experience you won’t be able to find anywhere else. This listing offers a private room on a 2012 Searay 54 foot cruiser, along with a captain at your disposal to take you around Vancouver’s waters or to Gibsons for the evening. Private and spacious living room which features a complete kitchen to host your celebrity guests.
Located just off Coal Harbour , you can anchor offshore for ultimate privacy. A Jet Tender at the back gives you freedom to hit the shore anytime you wish. Undoubtedly one of the more luxurious experiences and boats you can find on Airbnb, if you’ve been dreaming of seeing Vancouver’s surrounding waters in a sleek cruiser, look no further.
Boat and View on the Sea in False Creek
$76 per night.
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/37326164
Located in False Creek by downtown Vancouver, this cosy sailboat gives yourself and 3 guests a comfortable stay on the water and under the stars. The gorgeous space indoors has a wood stove so you can warm up in case it starts to get a bit chilly at sea. Along with the wood stove, guests have access to a barbeque right by the outdoor cockpit, so they can cook something up something to eat while they enjoy the beautiful views of downtown Vancouver and Granville Island.
The boat is anchored, so your inner viking will be required to row a dinghy for about five minutes to get to the boat. The Solar-powered boat let’s you keep your phone powered along with any other devices you need to charge or power. There is a stove but no fridge, so you have to plan on frequent trips on the dinghy to replenish perishables.

Described as the "Airbnb of boats," Getmyboat allows owners to rent their boats out to people who don't want to commit to owning one.
The app allows users to rent over 180,000 boats in 184 countries. As such, there are numerous options for a variety of price ranges, as well as locations. What's more, the app connects people with exciting water activities, such as tours.
"There will be many locals and visitors in Vancouver at the show in February in search of the perfect boat to take out during the summer months. However, boat ownership is expensive, and the average boat is used only 8% of the year," said Val Streif, Getmyboat.
"We’re aiming to help buyers who want a way to earn on these investments AND boating enthusiasts who don’t want to commit to owning."
Listings include everything from powerboat rentals to sailboat charters, fishing charters to jet-ski rentals, houseboat rentals and more. The listings include rental requirements, such as age, and they also include details about the vessel, such as its year, type, capacity, rental minimum, length, and cancellation information.
Currently, listings in Vancouver include everything from a full day on the 50ft "Sea Sanctuary" Motor Yacht that holds 12 guests for $475 per hour, to a two-person 10' Seadoo Jet Ski Rental for $75 per hour.
With listings from Nova Scotia to the Yukon territory, Canadians may explore waters across the country through the rental service, too.

With vast windows and skylights, the Yurt maximizes natural light exposure creating a bright space. Dozens of house plants filter the air and adorn the space, bringing the outside in. A skylight permits guests (up to four) to see the stars and canopies of trees at night. A hand carved Elven-inspired spiral staircase leads up to a sleeping loft surrounded by intricately carved railings. The main space and the master bedroom are separated by a door, so the loft is private. The kitchen is fully equipped and furnished with a gas range, oven, and a full-size fridge. Qualicum Beach – Free Spirit Spheres
If you’ve ever dreamed of sleeping up high in the treetops, the fantastical Free Spirit Spheres on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, will make your fantasy a reality.
Located in a lush temperate rainforest near Qualicum Beach north of Parksville on Vancouver Island, Free Spirit Spheres can be reached from Vancouver via a 90-minute BC Ferries trip to Nanaimo, followed by a short 45-minute drive north along the Island Highway.
The Free Spirit Spheres are nestled in a tall pine forest, offering some of the most unique and beautifully created accommodation options in this Canadian province. There are three spheres, and of course, each has a name. Eryn, Melody and Luna are hand crafted spheres of Sitka Spruce, yellow cedar and fibreglass, suspended between 10 and 15 feet above the ground.
The spheres are cozy but spacious enough to comfortably accommodate two adults (think of this as a romantic hideaway escape). They are accessed via circular staircases or rope bridges. The spheres are securely tethered by vertical ropes and anchors to strong points on each of three separate trees. The sphere floats in the center of the triangle, formed as if in the center of a web that mirrors the human connectedness to the eco-system.
Free Spirit spheres are functional and elegant, and like anything perched in a treetop, they sway gently in the breeze along with the trees. Large circular windows look out onto the forest and tree canopy, making for a sensation of being one with nature.
The spheres have power, electric heat, a small fridge, sink, table and bed, and are available in every season. Guests have access to composting toilet facilities located on the forest floor, and each sphere has its own bathhouse for privacy.
Amenities and restaurants are in close driving distance at Qualicum Beach. For those interested in underground adventures, book a spelunking tour at the spectacular Horne Lake caves, just a 30-minute drive inland from the sphere property.

Cooking facilities combine outdoor and indoor living with a BBQ and element, toaster oven, French press, small fridge and outdoor kitchen sink. The separate bathhouse has a walk-in shower, clawfoot tub and heated floors. French doors lead out to the patio.

The ranch sits at nearly 1,200m elevation and borders vast acres of crown land. There’s an abundance of wildlife year round, with hot dry summers and snowy winters.
The Hobbit House is very private and cosy, with seating areas, a small kitchen and outdoor grill area. Channel your inner Frodo while reading next to the hearth, spending time in nature or enjoying a board game with your partner. The house accommodates two guests in comfort, and it is a Wifi-free zone.

Each dome is beautifully decorated with a queen-sized bed, ensuite bathroom, luxe bedding and amenities like Tofino Soap Company products – great for washing up after hiking in Tofino . There’s a kitchenette with kettle, toaster, microwave, mini fridge, French press coffee maker, utensils, dinnerware and glassware.
A propane fireplace allows guests to snuggle and stay nice and cosy, accompanied by romantic fairy lights and plush pillows and throws.
Location: Tofino, Vancouver Island. From Vancouver, travel by BC Ferries to Nanaimo, then drive west along Highway 4. Trip time: 5-6 hours.

Breaking news, i lived ‘below deck’ on a luxury yacht — here’s what you need to know.
Tahiti, St. Thomas and the French Riviera — I’ve yachted in all of these exotic locales, albeit from the comfort of my couch. And, millions of Americans are in the same boat.
In 2013, “Below Deck,” introduced the masses to the most glamorous mode of traveling: yachting. Since then, it’s become a Bravo mainstay with Season 9 of “Below Deck Mediterranean’’ premiering in June.
But how real is the reality show? I spent five nights on a yacht in Croatia to find out.
A tip on tipping
My suitcase wasn’t bursting with Benjamins. An agency at your final destination provides cash for the crew’s tip money. While you’re expected to tip $30,000 for a two-night cruise on “Below Deck,” in real life you only have to tip 10% to 15% of your charter fee. That’s about $10,000 for a two-night cruise on a 180-foot charter yacht like Mustique (from $250,000 a week), which stars in the new season.
According to Zvonimir Androi, president of the yacht charter company Via Croatia, more often than not, the tip comes from what’s left over after provisioning.
So, shun the Dom Pérignon and skip the beluga caviar, and you’ll have money to spare.
What’s up, dock?
In real life, “Below Deck’s” favorite commercial-break cliff-hanger isn’t nearly as dramatic. Docking in our yacht, Via Croatia’s five-cabin, 100-foot Adriatic Escape (from $52,800 a week), was breezy.
I asked the crew if they hated setting up the slide — a tortuous, Herculean task if you believe what you see on TV.
“It’s not that bad,” a twentysomething Croatian deckhand, as cute as his on-screen counterparts, told me. “That said, we’re definitely not sad if you don’t ask for it.”
Play it cool
Despite being served meat on more than one occasion, my vegetarian co-guests on board weren’t divas when it came to cuisine — a major source of chef-related stress on the show.
Tantrums aren’t the norm Barbie Pascual, the “Below Deck” stewardess famous for putting up with former “RHONY” star Jill Zarin’s demands for the perfect Diet Coke in the “Real Housewives of Grenada” episode, tells me. “Guests know they are being filmed so their reactions are more extreme than they’d be if the cameras weren’t around,” she says.
Pascual’s biggest tip for first-time yachters? Don’t go skinny dipping, like they do on the show, after dark.
“People forget about currents, sharks, etc.,” she says. “Jumping in the water should always be with the captain’s consent!”
Our humorless Croatian yacht captain was a far cry from “Below Deck Mediterranean’s” affable Captain Sandy Yawn. I think we only saw him twice over the course of four days, and he definitely didn’t join us for dinner.
That was fine by us because the stews and deckhands were always handy with anything we needed — including at chat.
Asking for it
“No” is a word you’ll never hear on a yacht, unless there is a safety issue, Pascual says.
While we didn’t ask our crew to do a striptease or decorate for ‘70s night (two recurring requests on the show), out-there demands aren’t out of the question, as long as you’re willing to pay for it.
For example, Via Croatia is currently retrofitting one of its multimillion-dollar superyachts for an upcoming charter booked by a multigenerational Jewish family from Florida.
“In addition to paying the charter fee, the client is literally buying everything new: pots, pans, silverware, etc.” said Androi. “They’re even spending $30,000 on a new tender for the elderly mother-in-law.”
Now, I’m no reality show producer, but a picky primary trying to keep his wife, her elderly mom and their kosher kids happy at sea has the makings of an Emmy Award-winning episode.
Yachting on a budget
Charters are cheapest at the beginning and end of a destination’s season. Via Croatia’s yuppiest yacht, the 160-foot, 12-cabin Agape Rose , fetches $200,000 a week in July and August. But it’s just $164,000 a week in April and October. Divide that by 24 of your closest friends and family and it’s just $6,800 a person.
If that’s still too much, consider booking a yacht club suite on one of MSC Cruises ’ Mediterranean voyages.
Sure, you’ll be on a cruise liner, but for $1,659 a person you’ll be treated to seven nights of private butler service with a private pool and restaurant that the pleb passengers don’t even know exists.

Your guide to Vancouver
All about vancouver.
Located on the southwestern edge of British Columbia, Vancouver is a busy seaport where rich greenery and stunning natural landscapes are intertwined with its cosmopolitan metropolis. The North Shore Mountains overlook the city and serve as a spectacular backdrop to Vancouver’s glittering skyline. If you want to immerse yourself in the city’s lush, natural surroundings, head to Lynn Canyon Park in northern Vancouver for scenic hiking trails, swimming holes, and one of the city’s iconic suspension bridges. Make your way to Queen Elizabeth Park for a peaceful stroll through the pristinely landscaped plants, or head to Chinatown to soak up the tranquility of exquisite Chinese gardens.
Vancouver’s culinary scene is one of Canada’s most exciting, known for its fresh ingredients and multicultural cuisine, with seafood a staple part of local dining and food trucks and brunch spots galore. For uninterrupted views of the city, ascend Vancouver Lookout, where you’ll be greeted with a stunning 360-degree panorama. The city’s spirited nightlife is also a major draw. If you want to hit the dance floor and explore Vancouver’s club scene, make your way to Granville Street. Gastown’s range of bars, pubs, and beer halls offers a more relaxed evening out.
The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Vancouver
Vancouver experiences warm, sunny summers, providing perfect conditions for sightseeing and pleasant temperatures for boat trips. If your visit includes a host of outdoor activities, summer may be the best time to explore. The city is known to have a long rainy season, which can span from October to June. Brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow paint the landscape during the fall as the foliage begins to change color. Temperatures begin to cool during this time, so layer up to stay cozy. Outdoor enthusiasts head to Vancouver during the winter to spend time on the snowy slopes just 20 minutes away from downtown.
A night market offers music performances, art installations, and a bounty of food stalls every weekend between May and October, while Bard on the Beach combines time-honored theater with unique takes on 16th-century plays throughout the summer.
Top things to do in Vancouver
Museum of anthropology.
You’ll find this iconic concrete and glass building on the University of British Columbia’s campus, overlooking the mountains, ocean, and Burrard Inlet just 20 minutes from downtown. Traditional weaving, intricate wood carvings, and contemporary works from First Nations peoples tell the story of Vancouver’s origins and explore its mix of cultures today.
Granville Island
Formerly an industrial site, historic Granville Island has been transformed into a cultural hub, housing art galleries, studios, and artisan workshops. One of the main attractions in this artsy neighborhood is the indoor Public Market, featuring fresh produce, baked goods, seafood, and other gourmet treats. Hop on a tugboat ferry to the other side of False Creek and peruse stalls selling handcrafted goods.
VanDusen Botanical Garden
The lush, 55-acre VanDusen Botanical Garden sits in the city center, home to thousands of species from around the world, local wildlife, and a hedge maze. In the spring, the Laburnum Walk is in full bloom, creating a stunning bright yellow tunnel of blossoms. From early December to early January, the gardens are bedecked with over a million lights, creating illuminated paths on dark winter nights.
