Bobbi Althoff Recalls ‘Super Awkward’ Encounter With Lil Yachty Before Their Interview

Bobbi Althoff has opened up about the awkward encounter she had when meeting Lil Yachty prior to their recent interview.

The Really Good Podcast host joined Barstool Sports’ BFFs  podcast last week where she went into detail about the exchange when first walking into Yachty’s mansion.

“I walked into his house and I felt so awkward,” she began. “When I walked into his house I was so uncomfortable because it was super awkward. Because he’s really kind of awkward and I heard that going into it.

“I walked into his house and he didn’t really even say hi to me. I was like, ‘Let’s go to the bathroom.’ We go to the bathroom then we get out and he’s sitting there with his two assistants and he’s not even acknowledging that I’m in the room.”

Watch the clip below:

Althoff texted her friend and was close to calling off the interview because of the cold encounter but she ended up leaning into it as part of her sit-down with Yachty as they went back-and-forth on what actually took place.

Boat downplayed the awkwardness of the situation around the 45-minute mark: “The second my assistant said they were here, I came out!”

“You gave us the most awkward hug I’ve ever had in my whole life,” Althoff replied. “I didn’t want you to think that I was your type so I wore a blazer because I know how men get about shoulders out. I didn’t want to give you too much of a hug.”

Some believe Bobbi taking shots at Yachty on BFFs could be the reason behind her apparent falling out with Drake as the two unfollowed each other on Instagram in recent days .

Althoff’s full interview with the 6 God has also been scrubbed from her podcast’s YouTube page.

Although, she pulled up to Drake’s It’s All A Blur Tour in Los Angeles at the Kia Forum over the weekend and she posted a clip looking annoyed while everyone sang along to “SICKO MODE.”

“Really in my element here @ this guys concert,” she captioned the post to Instagram.

The mother of two has parlayed connecting with the 6 God into more rap interviews, as she’s had Tyga on her podcast with an Offset interview in the pipeline as well.

Who Is Bobbi Althoff? All About the Influencer Who's Interviewed Drake and Lil Yachty

Bobbi Althoff went viral for interviewing Drake in his bed on her podcast, 'The Really Good Podcast'

lil yachty bobbi althoff

Bobbi Althoff went from posting mom content regularly to interviewing famous rappers in a matter of two years.

The 27-year-old influencer began posting videos on TikTok in 2021, mainly focusing on content surrounding her children and her pregnancy experiences. However, she skyrocketed to fame in 2023 when she began her podcast, The Really Good Podcast .

So far, Althoff has interviewed rappers Drake and Lil Yachty , businessman Mark Cuban , actor Rick Glassman and YouTuber Funny Marco, among others.

Known and beloved for her deadpan humor and for intentionally making her interviewees uncomfortable, Althoff has amassed over 8 million TikTok followers and more than 1 million subscribers on her YouTube channel , where she posts her podcast episodes.

However, since her success, some have questioned who Althoff is and how she rose to fame so quickly, prompting rumors that she is an “industry plant” — someone who is secretly being backed by the industry to help them achieve success.

In response to the gossip, Althoff posted a video of herself dancing awkwardly to Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice ’s “Barbie World,” with the caption, “Celebrating because the industry planted me.”

So, who is Bobbi Althoff? Here’s everything to know about the TikTok influencer and podcaster.

She started posting on TikTok in 2021

Althoff began posting regularly on TikTok in 2021, focusing mainly on content surrounding being a mom. Her early TikToks revolved around her pregnancy with her second daughter and motherhood.

In one of her first public TikToks from July 2021, Althoff wrote “when people choose to have their kids in their 20’s instead of waiting till they are at least 35+” over a video of herself mouthing the lyrics to Minaj's "Grindin'." She sings along to the words “dang little mama you is such a loser” repeatedly, seemingly mimicking people who have made comments to her about being a young mom, asking, “Why waste your youth?” in the caption.

She continued posting videos through 2022, mainly of her pregnancy, like clips of her dancing and struggling in the heat at Disneyland .

In the latter, she joked how she was "10 months pregnant" and at the theme park in the June heat.

“I was hoping that I’d be able to walk her out or something but that doesn’t feel like it’s happening,” she said. “She’s never coming, I will be pregnant for the rest of my life and that’s just something I’m going to have to accept.”

She was married for four years

Bobbi and Cory Althoff wed on Jan. 31, 2020, and share two children. Sadly, in February 2024, Cory filed for divorce and listed July 4, 2023, as the date of the couple's separation.

"As sad as I am right now, I am so thankful for the time I got to be his wife," Bobbi wrote on Instagram after the news broke. "While our relationship did not work out as husband and wife, we will always be friends and I will always love him ."

The exes finalized their divorce within a matter of months. Bobbi and Cory determined that neither party would pay spousal support or child support and agreed to joint legal custody of their two daughters.

According to his LinkedIn , Cory is a programmer who works as a senior vice president at CompTIA and is a published author of two books about self-teaching computer science and coding.

She shares two children with Cory

Althoff has two daughters, whom she refers to as Concrete and Richard, in an effort to keep their names and identities private. While she never shows their faces, she has featured her younger child on her TikTok since the baby was born in June 2022.

In her younger daughter's first appearance, Althoff posted a video of herself just a few weeks after giving birth as she got ready with the newborn to do chores.

“I’m gonna baby wear her so that I can get some laundry done and just get some stuff done around the house,” she said in the TikTok.

Sticking with the bit that she named her daughter Concrete, Althoff responded with a video to a comment in November 2022 of someone critiquing her name choice.

“I don’t see anything wrong with the name Concrete,” she said. “It is a pretty common word so I don’t understand why it would not make a good name. My daughter is going to be a very strong woman with a very strong name for her.”

She continued, “I grew up in the construction business and I just always wanted my daughter to have some ties to myself so yes her name is Concrete Sawdust Althoff so I encourage you guys to think outside the box when naming your children because the future will be a better place if we stop caring about what we name our littles.”

Althoff has since deleted all her videos with her children, explaining on the BFFs podcast that she didn't want them to have a digital footprint.

"I'm so happy I [deleted the videos], especially since I made that decision before [the podcast] because I don't want them to have the digital footprint that I've created," she said. "Now when they go public and they're not with me, I don't have to worry so that's good."

She started her podcast in April 2023

Althoff debuted her podcast, The Really Good Podcast, in April 2023, and one of her first guests was Tammin Sursok, who played Jenna on Pretty Little Liars . Althoff cemented her signature awkward, confrontational style when one of her first questions was, “So you were on a show called Pretty Little Liars . Was the lie that you’re pretty?”

Months later, Althoff revealed on the BFFs podcast that she used to drive to Los Angeles once a week and would pay influencers $300 to join her podcast.

Since then, she has welcomed various other influencers and stars on her podcast, including TikTok star Morgan Presley and Not Dead Yet actor Rick Glassman.

In an April TikTok promoting her podcast, Althoff wrote about how starting a podcast was always a dream of hers.

“I’ve always dreamed of having my own podcast…So I filmed a pilot episode…,” she wrote. “Everyone I showed it to said it was awful..They said I wouldn’t secure celebrity guests anymore…That no one would watch it … But I proved them wrong … It got 6 views and my famous neighbor agreed to do an episode….Don’t give up on your dreams. Ever.”

In an interview with TODAY in August 2023, Althoff said she got the idea to start a podcast using the "dry humor" character she's known for — and emphasized that's not how she is in real life.

A week later, Althoff shared with Cosmopolitan how she doesn't prepare too much for her interviews — but thinks her awkward style is what makes them special.

“ There’s no prep, and that’s the fun of it,” she explained. “I think that’s why celebrities are down to do it. They know it’s a character, and we just wing it. It’s not a real interview. I’m not trying to get hard-hitting information about you — I’m not trying to uncover anything. It’s just a conversation. It’s really a parody of a good interview.”

She interviewed Drake and Lil Yachty in July 2023

After over 2 million views on her interview with YouTuber Funny Marco, Althoff had already gone viral. But her fame escalated when she teased that the next episode of her podcast would be with Drake.

On TODAY, Althoff said that the interview came about when Drake saw her episode with Funny Marco and liked the video and followed her.

"When I saw he followed me, I was like I'm gonna ask," she said. She proceeded to direct message him, and three days later, she was interviewing him in bed.

Her full 1-hour long interview on YouTube, which was released on July 20, 2023, garnered over 9 million views. During her conversation with the star, Althoff maintained her stoic, quiet tone the entire time and did not appear impressed with Drake — nor the fact that they were conducting the interview in a bed.

"The idea behind it was it would be a funny thing that you wanted to do it so bad that you bothered him while he was going to bed to do it," she explained on TODAY. "Now we do all my podcasts in random locations."

During one particularly jokingly tense moment, Althoff asked Drake not to drink while she interviews him. “It’s a nightcap!” he said. “It’s sad,” she replied.

Just weeks after she interviewed Drake, however, fans noticed that the Certified Lover Boy rapper and the podcast host had unfollowed each other on Instagram, and Althoff took down her interview with him from all her platforms.

The unfollowing came just days after Althoff posted a TikTok of herself attending Drake's concert in L.A. where she stood in the crowd with her arms crossed with her signature deadpan expression as people danced around her. “Really in my element @ this guy’s concert,” she jokingly captioned the post.

In July 2023, Althoff also posted another hour-long interview with rapper Lil Yachty where the two joked about being young parents, fame and their careers. In the middle of the interview, Drake even called Lil Yachty and shouted hello to Althoff.

“What’s up Bobbo?” Drake said as Lil Yachty turned the phone toward her.

In August 2023, she interviewed Mark Cuban.

She shared that her podcast popping off was "crazy." "I always wanted it to blow up obviously, you hope for something but it's crazy when it actually happens," she said.

Shaquille O'Neal asked her on a date

When Shaquille O'Neal was chatting with Funny Marco on an episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, the rumors that Marco and Althoff have been dating came up, and Marco refused to answer the NBA legend's question about how long they had been dating.

O'Neal took matters into his own hands and called Althoff on camera to ask her out on a date.

"I'm sitting here with Funny Marco. He told me to ask you on a date , so can I take you to the movies?" he asked, to which she replied, "Sure."

Lil Yachty and Drake

In the latest episode of “The Really Good Podcast,” host Bobbi Althoff turned her focus on hip hop heavyweight Lil Yachty today (July 27). Following her headline-grabbing interview with Drake, the TikTok star’s latest one-on-one gifted listeners with another riveting hour of candid dialogue.

Early in their exchange, she broached the depth of Yachty’s relationship with the Toronto superstar. With Yachty comfortably dressed in an “I Love Scene H**s” t-shirt, he offered a refreshingly candid response. The artist suggested that their rapport runs as deep as “the center of the Earth.” Although he stopped short of declaring Drizzy his best friend worldwide, the Atlanta native admitted he is certainly in his “Top 3.”

Toward the end of their conversation, Drake fittingly interrupted the interview. In a snippet shared alongside the episode’s debut, Althoff stated, “Don’t say nothing crazy.”

The “God’s Plan” hitmaker revealed, “It ain’t easy. It’s a tough one to power through, I’m not going to lie to you. God bless her heart, though.” Yachty responded, “Brother, I’m the one holding this conversation alive. I’ll tell you that much.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Yachty spoke to the TikToker about his latest venture, “A Safe Place Podcast.” He explained, “I did it for my best friend… I did it because I wanted to make him rich.” When asked whether it was working, the musician replied, “Not yet. Well, I don’t know. We got our first sponsor. We got a pretty good signing deal. He’s not rich, but he has more money than he started with.”

Moreover, Althoff’s sit-down with Drake not only paved the way for her exchange with Yachty but also bolstered her show’s reputation. The Toronto native’s scolding of the host for missing her daughter’s first birthday for their interview sparked amusement and debate among fans.

Evident in this interview, the special camaraderie between Drake and Yachty highlighted the mutual respect they share. Yachty’s acknowledgment of the rapper as a role model echoed the sentiments of many others in the industry, including 21 Savage and Ice Spice.

Watch Lil Yachty Playfully Troll Funny Marco About Bobbi Althoff Having ‘Completely Obliterated Your Existence'

The short but impactful clip sees Yachty summarizing Althoff's recent rise, all while pressing Marco to admit his jealousy.

Lil Yachty playfully roasts Funny Marco over Bobbi Althoff ’s viral success in a new clip from an upcoming conversation.

In the clip seen below, Yachty asks Marco if he was “jealous” that the Really Good Podcast personality had “surpassed” and “completely obliterated” him. Worth noting, of course, is that Marco appeared on Althoff's show earlier this year . That very interview, notably, was later referenced by Yachty in his own discussion with Althoff.

"Were you jealous that she just surpassed you and completely obliterated your existence?" Yachty asked, followed by an extended pause only broken when Marco offered up a halfhearted "Nah" in response.

From there, Yachty continued prodding Marco about Althoff’s rise by theorizing that he likely “stopped at this little white girl’s house” and thought “nothing of it.” In fact, Yachty said, he likely expected to not get more than 5,000 views.

“Turns out, she gets 10 million-plus views,” Yachty said. “I’m talking about 500,000 extra followers. Drake, me. … I mean, the list goes on. She’s turnt.”

Yachty added that he had actually just spoken with Althoff, though he declined to reveal the name of someone important with whom she had just scored a meeting.

“You sitting here right now, no shoes on, socks are dirty, got $20 in your pocket and you mean to tell me that you wasn’t jealous in any type of way?” Yachty added.

Naturally, the clip was further boosted by a somber piano-driven soundtrack. See more below. As for Marco’s take, he joked in the caption that he’s “got words” for Yachty after this exchange.

Yachty’s Field Trip Tour is now in progress and will soon hit Austin, Nashville, San Diego, and a ton more cities in the weeks ahead. In fact, Yachty was initially slated to give SXSW attendees in Austin a special performance back in March before ( as documented here ) some decidedly Texan weather intervened and forced an abrupt cancelation.

Complex recently spoke with Yachty about the tour, as well as his expansive partnership with C4. Head here for the full discussion .

The satire, ironic boredom, and Drake-fueled mystery of podcaster Bobbi Althoff, explained

The celebrity interviewer is really good at selling disinterest.

by Alex Abad-Santos

Bobbi Althoff, weraing a black turtleneck dress, attends the Variety Power of Young Hollywood Presented by For the Music at NeueHouse Hollywood on August 10, 2023, in Hollywood, California.

Bobbi Althoff doesn’t want you to take her seriously.

Althoff hosts The Really Good Podcast . The phrase “really good” isn’t an earnest declaration of quality, but rather the summation of Althoff’s brand of perpetually detached, flat-affect daring: Go ahead and tell her it’s not “really good.” She would never claim the talk show is rigorous, researched, or anything but awkward. The podcast, like the character Althoff is playing on it, is supposed to be ironically pleasant enough.

But, like, only if you get it.

The Really Good Podcast ’s subscriber numbers and Althoff’s profile rose over the past few months after the 26-year-old TikToker, once known for mom content , switched mediums and landed an interview with the press-averse Drake in July 2023. Adding to the lore was the fact that Althoff scored the life-changing conversation via a series of Instagram DMs. While the interview did happen, the episode was ultimately deleted in August with no further official explanation from Althoff or the rapper as to why.

Since then, Althoff has parlayed that interview and her style — unfazed, dry, bored in an ironic way — into more episodes featuring guests like Mark Cuban, Maluma, Lil Yachty, and Shaq to the tune of hundreds of thousands of views. She asks her interview subjects what they wear, how they live, and what they like to eat, but doesn’t seem that interested in what they have to say. She meets most of them with deadpan sarcasm and silence, making her guests live in the discomfort of whatever they just revealed.

But it’s Althoff’s recent interview with rapper Offset that has brought her back into the mainstream conversation. Unlike previous guests, Offset took charge of the conversation, flipping the tables on Althoff and dragging her mercilessly, at one point comparing her to unsalted chicken meat.

It raised the question of just why Althoff is so popular and why she’s been so successful. It calls into question Althoff’s persona and what exactly people are laughing at. In many ways, it was a really good podcast, but perhaps not in the way Althoff intended.

What Bobbi Althoff’s whole deal is

If you look through Althoff’s videos on YouTube and dig into the comments section — the place for people who have the strongest opinions and the most time on their hands — the replies have a common theme. Her biggest fans like these videos because they believe Althoff is providing something more irreverent than regular celebrity interviews. To her followers, Althoff’s interviews upend what these conversations are supposed to be, and in turn unsettle the famous people who know exactly how they are supposed to act — generally.

Most celebrity interviews and profiles — on talk shows or in entertainment magazines — just serve as publicity for whatever an actor or musician is working on next. There’s a slew of expected questions and pre-prepped answers that don’t really tell an audience anything except when a new movie is coming out or how to preorder an album. Look at any press tour and you’ll see answers repeated over and over in competing publications.

Althoff doesn’t really allow for that.

Watching and listening to her feels like someone brought to life Olivia Mossbacher — the mean white teenage girl played by Sydney Sweeney on the first season of HBO’ s White Lotus — or as my editor insists, like NBC figured out how to combine Parks and Recreation ’s April Ludgate (Aubrey Plaza) with The Office ’s Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer). She doesn’t like to make eye contact. Her arms are seemingly always crossed. Whether she’s saying something cutting, something hilarious, or something to indicate genuine interest, there’s no emotion in her crispy, deep-fried voice. It all conjures up a vibe that she’d rather be anywhere else than interviewing this extremely famous person.

When this works, it leads to some fun.

In the episode with singer Jason Derulo , Althoff uses her deliberate awkwardness as an avenue through which to ask Derulo about the shirt he’s wearing. They’re both dressed casually. Derulo is wearing a tangerine cutoff tank and a pair of shorts but can’t name the designer.

“Do you not buy your clothes?” she asks. She looks like she’s about to pounce, as much as Althoff can look like someone who would actually pounce. “I was just wondering if you have someone who’s like, ‘Here’s your shirt for today .’”

“A lot of days, like, I get a lot of different options laid out,” Derulo replies. “But then, you know, I’ll like pick an option.”

“Okay, just hard work,” Althoff smirks, eliciting an awkward sighing laugh from Derulo.

Derulo looks like he’s going to the gym, and this interview appears as casual as can be. But the truth is that there’s someone else in charge of going to the store and buying Derulo’s casual clothes. That person, or someone else on the payroll, then picked out a series of clothes to suit this interview, and Derulo chose from that assortment. Apparently, according to Derulo, this happens on a lot of days of his existence. That means when we see Derulo in his media appearances, out and about in paparazzi photos, or even the days when we don’t see Derulo and he’s just living, there’s likely someone who picked out his outfits.

This revelation is a small detail and came from gentle ribbing, but it brings into focus how constructed Derulo’s image is. Whether it’s asking Charlie Puth about whether his team prepared him for a hurricane, interrogating Shaq about how he couldn’t travel with his private chef, or grilling Lil Yachty about his $90,000 veneers, Althoff has a way of bringing into focus how starkly different the way celebrities live life — and think about money — is from regular humans.

Despite the many assurances that they are just like us, celebrities aren’t. The fun of Althoff’s show is having these very rich and famous people acknowledge that themselves and, often, laugh at the gulf between our lives and theirs.

Bobbi Althoff didn’t invent the deadpan interview (and hasn’t really improved it)

Althoff’s success isn’t a total surprise. The type of purposefully uncomfortable style she’s implementing has been done and critically lauded before. Althoff has drawn comparisons to Zach Galifianakis on Between Two Ferns , Diana Morgan as Philomena Cunk on Cunk on Earth , and Amelia Dimoldenberg on Chicken Shop Date , but with less charm and skill.

Another particularly potent comparison is comedian Ziwe. The writer and talk show host rose to fame by asking controversial, semi-famous white women like Caroline Calloway , Alison Roman , and Rose McGowan impossibly uncomfortable questions about race, like if white people should get cookies for being allies, and if they could name five Asian people in all of history.

Ziwe landed a satirical talk show on Showtime, where she continued to roast her guests while also calling into question broader issues of how beauty, race, and money operate in the world.

“Can you tell us how white boy summer is different from the past 400 summers in American history?” Ziwe asks Chet Haze, a white rapper who sometimes has a Jamaican accent and is also Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson’s son.

“I guess not. I don’t know. I think it started with me getting a fresh-ass haircut and I was feeling myself,” Haze replies, likely failing to recognize Ziwe’s barb about oppression, or possibly fully understanding the joke and proceeding to talk about his haircut anyway.

The tension and humor that Ziwe — who is also playing a satirical version of herself — is able to create in that interview with Haze works because she’s done her work and seems genuinely interested in what Haze has to say, even if it’s extreme.

The comedy of asking Haze about oppression and white boy summer works because it comes partly at Ziwe’s expense. She’s earnestly asking Haze — someone who has never claimed to be a spokesperson for race and inequality nor is revered as one — an absurd question. The same goes for Galifianakis asking Justin Bieber about why he thinks Anne Frank is a Belieber, or Morgan as Cunk asking historians whose renaissance is better: Beyoncé’s or the European artistic movement of the 15th and 16th centuries.

Satire works because there’s an awareness of the absurdity. It’s sharp and considered, with something larger to say about celebrity, history, money, race, or whatever the satirist has taken aim at.

Each episode, Ziwe’s, Morgan’s, and Galifianakis’s characters are, for the sake of the bit, genuinely engaged in their guests but also find a way to stay true to the satire. They’re hitting the beats we expect but adapting it to the situation.

In its weakest moments, Althoff’s sardonic boredom has no deeper level to it, nothing beyond its vapidity. Althoff said herself that she is unprepared and doesn’t research , which doesn’t make for the hardest-hitting interviews. It raises the question of exactly how long she can keep this all going (Althoff has live shows scheduled later in theaters this year). If all she has to offer is general disinterest, what’s the difference if Althoff is interviewing Offset or Drake or Maluma or Charlie Puth? At some point, all these interviews bleed into one another, making them harder to distinguish and more similar to the same-same celebrity interviews her fans loathe.

How Offset changed Bobbi Althoff’s show

While Althoff’s interviews have gotten hundreds of thousands of views, it was her interview with rapper Offset that aimed a mainstream spotlight on the podcaster. On the September 28 episode , Althoff employed a riff on Offset’s clothes — asking him why he chose his outfit (boots, shorts, and a leather jacket) — not unlike she did with Derulo. Offset had a different response.

“Because you’re not gonna do it,” Offset replies to her. “I dress the way that you won’t dress because you don’t get it, you don’t get the language, you don’t get it.”

A few seconds later, Althoff replies: “I feel like you maybe are insecure about that question. because you answered very defensively. I was trying to understand; you don’t have to be so mean.”

He then explains to her that people who dress like Althoff — whose style Offset describes as 36-year-old mom — don’t get the idea of personal style. He turns the tables on Althoff, asking her, essentially, if she picked out her outfit and why she put it together that way for an interview with him. “Why would you go 2000s tank with the open button-up?” he says. “You put that together. It’s just not all the way together.”

Among other barbs exchanged — Offset not knowing who she is, Offset telling Althoff not to make fun of his finances, Offset telling Althoff her legs and ankles are ashy, Offset telling Althoff that she is like an unseasoned piece of chicken — Offset roasts Althoff’s interview style.

“Hell nah,” he tells her when asked if he would recommend going on the podcast to his friends. He then goes in on Althoff’s deadpan voice and lack of enthusiasm. “You should be Siri. Deadass. No playing shit. You should hit Apple and be like, ‘Yo, it’s 2023. It’s time for the new Siri voice.’ You could apply for that shit and they’re gonna give it to you. And that’s gonna be more money . ”

“You should go write new music,” she volleys back.

“Steve Jobs. ‘Hey Steve ,’” Offset continues his joke.

Althoff’s episode with Offset has over 2.2 million views on YouTube, significantly more than her recent videos with Maluma , Derulo, J. Balvin , Shaq, and Puth (her video views peaked after the Drake interview in July ). Since the episode aired, Offset has maintained that there’s no hard feelings between the two, that it was a positive experience, and talked about how it was all in jest.

While it might have been fun for both parties, Althoff’s lack of playfulness and quickness in that Offset installment brought attention to her podcast style. It even had some questioning her fame.

Critics called her mediocre and a bad host , and said her schtick was tired . Others compared her to the aforementioned hosts, noting how she was passing off a poorer version of that style of interview. Some critics pointed out that the Offset interview highlighted that Althoff’s humor tends to play on the fact that she’s a white woman who’s uncomfortable in Black spaces and purposely uninterested around Black people and people of color:

That critique raises the question of what people find so funny about Althoff and who exactly finds it funny. Is Althoff asking these very famous celebrities questions about their very expensive, out-of-touch lives inherently funny? Or is the comedy in the implicit notion of how uncomfortable Black culture makes this white woman? Do her interviews with Charlie Puth and Mark Cuban get as many clicks as Shaq or Offset? (They do not.)

Althoff has maintained that the person she is on her podcast is a character, that the Bobbi Althoff on the air is not who the real Bobbi Althoff is, and that her biggest critics don’t fully understand her.

“I’m very insecure, and the character that I’ve created is made up of my biggest insecurities. I’ve just made her into someone who’s proud of who she is,” Althoff told Cosmopolitan in an interview this summer. She also explained that the celebrities she has on know that they’re interacting with that character Althoff has created.

“I’ve always been so embarrassed about being socially awkward. Now, I’ve exaggerated that and made it even worse for this character. It’s a fun way to take control of this thing that’s been horrible for me my whole life,” Althoff continued.

Perhaps Althoff is really committed to this bit, which includes ironic displeasure at talking to people of color, Black rappers especially. Maybe her biggest critics just don’t get that Althoff is making a joke about white women’s self-importance, if that’s her intention.

But she’s not made a convincing argument that she’s skillfully executing that satire. Her jokes, especially in the Offset interview, float on one level — that this specific Caucasian woman is rude and disinterested — never threatening to be anything more substantial. Althoff’s failure isn’t that she’s rude or disinterested, but that she’s incapable of challenging her audience beyond that.

YouTuber Bobbi Althoff was trending earlier this week after it was revealed that she and Drake unfollowed one another on Instagram. Bobbi also took down her interview with Drake, which had already amassed over a million views.

While neither Bobbi nor Drake has addressed rumors of a possible feud, she did open up about how she secured the interview. Bobbi told Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy that she just DM'd Drake, and he responded. During her interview with Portnoy, Bobbi spoke about her sit-down with Lil Yachty.

Bobbi stated, "I walked into his house, and it was super awkward because he’s really like kind of awkward. And, I’ve heard that going into it, but me with another awkward person is like– I think it’s because you guys aren’t awkward, maybe that’s why. Because he was awkward."

Yachty has since responded to Bobbi's comments, as he wrote on Twitter, "Look, another white woman tricked hip hop again. She comes alive around her own people."

  • "I couldn't even Google you," he said. "You're not there yet."

Insider Today

Offset hilariously turned the tables on podcaster Bobbi Althoff in a clip from her latest awkward interview by suggesting he had no idea who she was.

The former Migos member is the latest rapper to appear on Althoff's "The Really Good Podcast" after Drake, Lil Yachty, and Tyga.

Sharing a snippet of the interview to Instagram on Monday, Althoff said the whole episode is expected to drop "Thursday, probably."

In the clip, Offset asked Althoff what she does, to which she replied: "I interview people."

After Offset asked Althoff why she wanted to interview him, the podcaster said: "I didn't."

"Your team reached out to mine," she added.

"Don't cap, let's not cap about that," replied Offset. "Flag on the play. Cap."

Althoff then said: "I honestly don't know how this came about, my team could have reached out to yours. I'm not gonna, I don't wanna make you look back."

Offset replied: "They had to show me who Bobbi was. I thought they was talking about Bobby Boucher."

Bobby Boucher is the main protagonist of the 1998 comedy film "The Waterboy," played by Adam Sandler.

Althoff responded by saying that she had "never heard of Offset" and that she had "Googled" him on the way to the interview.

"I had to go on TikTok, I couldn't even Google you," Offset replied. "You're not there yet. But you'll be there. But you're on TikTok."

Althoff, 26, first rose to prominence as a mom influencer on TikTok before shifting to comedic content.

Since launching her podcast in 2021, she's managed to score interviews with a number of famous musicians in a shockingly short space of time, most notably Drake.

The "One Dance" rapper made a surprise appearance on Althoff's podcast in July, during which they sat together in bed tucked underneath a layer of blankets.

For unknown reasons, clips of Althoff's interview with Drake have since been removed from her  YouTube channel and Instagram.

The pair have also unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Influencer Bobbi Althoff has broken her silence on her so-called feud with rapper Drake after she deleted a podcast interview with him - shortly before it was revealed that the duo had unfollowed each other on Instagram.

The 26-year-old's interview with Drake  quickly went viral last month and saw her fame rise to new heights as the world reacted to her hilariously awkward chat with the superstar rapper.

However, it seemed as though the pair's unlikely friendship ended abruptly as eagle-eyed fans spotted that the podcast episode had mysteriously been taken down from Bobbi's The Really Good Podcast YouTube  channel, and other podcast platforms and the pair had unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Now, the podcaster has spoken out for the first time about her alleged beef with the music star, keeping coy about the root of their fall-out, but noting that the two are not having a sexual relationship.

Although Bobbi has yet to issue an official statement about the feud, she shut down any speculation that she and Drake had ever had a romance in a private message sent to Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who later shared the conversation on his own Instagram account.

The messages between the pair were shared after a clip from Portnoy's podcast in which he discusses a conversation he had with Bobbi was shared on social media - having been edited to further fuel reports of an affair between the podcast host and the rapper.

In his DM to Bobbi, Portnoy, 46, asked directly whether she'd been intimate with Drake and was planning to divorce her husband, writing: 'My girlfriend said you slept with Drake and are getting a divorce. I am saying that is not true.'

Bobbi responded: 'I'm not commenting on it publicly, but off the record, you're right that is not true. '

The conversation ended with Portnoy adding, 'I knew I was right.'

In his BFFs podcast, the Barstool founder discussed that conversation - however the clip was edited for social media purposes in order to make it sound more 'juicy' than it was.

In the original video, Dave said: '[My girlfriend] said that she heard that Bobbi slept with Drake and is getting a divorce so I asked her.

In the edited clip, Dave said: '[My girlfriend] said that she heard that Bobbi slept with Drake and is getting a divorce so I asked her.

'I DMed Bobbi and she said...' before the remainder of the conversation was censored out.

Following the release of the edited clip, Bobbi took to her Instagram to reveal that she didn't want to comment about this situation, however, wanted to clear things up.

She then shared the DMs between her and Dave, where she notes the rapper and her didn't sleep together.

Dave took to his Instagram to issue Bobbi an apology.

He said: 'I owe Bobbi an apology. She's been in the news about her and Drake unfollowing each other after doing a podcast together. All sorts of rumors about it.

'I asked her about it directly, she answered directly. Our social media team edited the clip to make it seem juicy, which is bulls***.'

Dave then shared both the original and edited clip. He also shared his DMs apologizing to Bobbi.

He added: 'I want to apologize for the way that Drake edited clip was put out. I ripped our media team apart for it. Never should have been released like that. I just said that you didn't hook up, it was nothing at all until they edited like that.'

She replied: 'Then you put that on your story because this is so unfair and so messed up. '

He said: 'That's what I'm apologizing for, I didn't personally put it up, and I didn't even know it was made. Our social team did, and I freaked out on them when I saw it. '

Bobbi has yet to comment on the what the feud between her and the rapper is over.

Considering the 26-year-old's chat with the rapper had amassed over 10 million views on YouTube alone before being deleted, fans couldn't get figure out why the social media star would take down the clip down from her channel.

Followers of the pair were even more surprised by the move, since Bobbi had shared a post of herself attending Drake's concert just one day before suddenly deleting the popular interview.

In her typical sarcastic style, she shared a video of herself looking unimpressed at the gig while others were dancing and singing along enthusiastically.

'Really in my element here @ this guys concert,' she simply stated in the caption.

Some wondering if Drake had taken offence as one wrote: 'Maybe they didn’t like her disrespecting his concert?'

Another added: 'This why everyone can’t have clout. Drake blessed her podcast and this is what she does.'

'You knows I thought something was off about that interview. Especially when they took that dig at each other. Interesting,' one follower stated.

However, many quickly started to question whether it was all a publicity stunt as one mused: 'Maybe it’s just apart of the bit.'

Another stated: 'She didn’t delete it, it just went private. So that means it’s a PR move.'

'Everything is a bit. This I’m sure has been planned since the interview,' one fan added. 'It’s a brilliant move. Whatever PR firm is handling this is doing a great job.'

Another agreed as they wrote: 'She’s a marketing genius! This is for media coverage'.

Some fans made it clear they wouldn't enjoy the move being a way to get attention as one commented: 'Hopefully she’s not just doing this for clicks cuz that’d be wack.'

At the time of reporting, the pair still do not follow each other on the social media platform, while the only evidence of the interview on her channel as some 'Shorts' teasers which were released before the entire interview went live.

Explaining how she lands her chats, she told Cosmopolitan that Drake had liked clips from her interview with comedian Funny Marco and then followed her.

Bobbi chose to reach out immediately as she explained: ' I decided to just go for it and shoot my shot. I DMed Drake and asked if he wanted to be on my podcast, and he said yes.

Who is Bobbi Althoff? Why do people think she’s an industry plant?

Bobbi Althoff ( @bobbialthoff ) is the influencer -turned-podcast-host of “ The Really Good Podcast ” on YouTube , who some people are speculating may be an “industry plant.”

The 25-year-old mother -of-two recently interviewed singer Drake in an episode where the two appeared to be lounging in bed drinking wine. Althoff’s interview style is very casual, sarcastic and dry.

After the interview went viral , it left many people wondering who exactly Althoff was and how she secured an interview with Drake. In fact, Althoff seemed to appear on the podcast scene so suddenly that it even led some to speculate that she is an industry plant.

What is an industry plant?

An industry plant is someone who is meticulously planned, primed and launched by an industry to be a star. Unlike an organic artist, who may have a hit song and get discovered, an industry plant is someone industry leaders choose ahead of time and prep to be a “star.”

Any industry can have a plant. Althoff did not have a background in podcast hosting, so her sudden hosting gig and impressive first guests led some to speculate that she was a plant all along.

But while Twitter may have speculated about Althoff’s sudden success, some on the app also defended her, pointing out that the young content creator has actually been around for a long time.

she’s had this character since at least 2020. she’s always been funny as hell with it too. i’m really glad she’s blowing up finally — onyx (🎂🥳 july 29th) (@onyxxaphrodite) July 24, 2023

Who is Bobbi Althoff?

Bobbi Althoff got her start as a TikTok influencer with an account that she has since shut down, primarily focused on parenting content. In her early videos, she often called herself a “40-year-old.” She even posted a video about why she doesn’t smile.

As a parenting influencer, her content includes videos about her “uneven” breasts — a common condition that can happen in breastfeeding parents — which she often jokes about.

Althoff’s shift into podcasting

Althoff has been open about her decision to shift out of mom content. In an interview with Teen Vogue , she described her decision to stop posting her children on TikTok and how she wanted to avoid having her children someday read mean comments about them on the internet. In fact, she nicknamed her two daughters “Richard” and “Concrete” to avoid using their real names on social media.

“Richard is not always going to be my little girl. She’s going to be a person,” Althoff told Teen Vogue . “I want her to have the opportunity to write her own story. I’ve decided to make it my job to entertain people but it’s not my kids’ job and I don’t want to make it their job.”

Althoff posted her first interview on her TikTok in April 2023 with actress Jenna Marshall from Pretty Little Liars , who Althoff jokingly referred to as an “extra” on the show.

The interview was set in the same style as her chat with Drake, featuring dry humor, sarcastic digs back and forth and what’s become her signature, intentionally paused-for-effect conversational approach.

“This may take a second to catch on but it’s going to take off,” one commenter predicted after watching the clip.

After her first interview with Marshall, Althoff continued posting increasingly awkward and sarcastic podcast interviews that were met with mixed reactions.

“I generally can’t tell if this is a sketch or a genuine moment in time,” one commenter pointed out.

Barstool Sports journalist looks into whether Althoff is a plant

Jack Mac ( @jackmacbarstool ), a journalist for Barstool Sports , did a deep dive into why he thinks Althoff is the real deal and not an industry plant.

Despite revealing that he very much believes that industry plants are real and “running amongst us,” Mac listed the three reasons why he thinks Althoff is not one of them:

She already had an online presence as a mom TikToker beginning in 2020.

In March 2023, Teen Vogue included Althoff in an article and described her as having 3.6 million followers on TikTok.

She got signed by WME , a legitimate and prestigious talent agency, the likes of signing with Mac likened to “getting into Harvard.”

“Nothing about Bobbi Althoff screams to me industry plant,” he said in summary. “It just seems like she is a great success story for one of the biggest talent agencies in the world to shift her content a little bit. She was doing a lot of ‘MomToks,’ and now she’s interviewing Drake. You know, that kinda works sometimes.”

“Like if something’s successful, they push it,” he added. “You want to know why? Because it makes them money. So yeah, stop saying that about Bobbi. Leave her alone.”
