A TIMELESS CROSSOVER
The exteriors of the Magellano 30M are designed by Ken Freivokh. The vision that guided his design of the lines was to create an object of timeless, exquisite beauty. Destined for long-range cruising, she combines comfort and safety with high bulwarks and large windows to ensure constant contact with the beauty of the sea.
THE UNIQUE NATURE OF THE VOYAGE
The interiors are conceived by Vincenzo De Cotiis, a leading architect and designer with a famously artistic touch. For De Cotiis, a yacht is first about the journey and then about the living environment and, as such, his design reflects the sense of uniqueness that characterizes every moment of a voyage. The unconventional interpretation of seaworthiness permeates thoughtfully curated environments that play with the generous flow of light. Every element, from furnishings to design to layout, reflects the organic shape and natural colors of the sea.
WHEN FIBERGLASS BECOMES ART
The unconventional beauty of Magellano 30M manifests in myriad ways. Vincenzo De Cotiis and Azimut Yachts thrust fibreglass into the spotlight with a specially developed variant for this project. Usually a material that is forced to maintain a low profile, here it is meticulously worked, embellished and polished to become a stunning, innovative stylistic element that unashamedly takes center stage. Instead of its usual coarse, unfinished appearance, fiberglass has been transformed into something noble, profound and tactile. A true work of art of high scenic presence.
FLOODED BY LIGHT AND SOAKING IN CHARM
The unique main deck master basks in the wonders of two full-height windows. A perfect playground for the abundant natural light, from the unusually shaped furnishings to the fine and rich materials, every detail contributes to an environment far beyond traditional conceptions, yet warmly welcoming with an aura of organic wellbeing.
OUR ADVANCED TOOLKIT
AZIMUT DUAL MODE HULL
The Dual Mode hull is a highly efficient semi-planing hull designed to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 20% at medium speeds* , guaranteeing superior navigation comfort in a wider range of sea conditions. The double-chine hull, combined with the vertical bow, minimizes the impact of waves and thus offers greater freedom of navigation, cruising comfortably at low speeds for extended durations as well as at higher speeds.
*compared to vessels of the same weight and size with a traditional hard-chine hull
A 130kW/h lithium-ion battery pack can support the yacht’s hotel load for up to 4 hours during the day and up to 8 hours at night. Now, it’s possible to enjoy the full superyacht experience without the noise, vibration and emissions of the generators, making daytime activities more pleasant and nighttime relaxation more peaceful.
A UTA air extraction system continuously refreshes and treats the onboard environments. The staterooms below deck benefit in particular from the continuous flow of clean air from the outside, filtered to eliminate the majority of airborn particles and odors.

30m -40m (98' – 131') Luxury Yachts For Sale
Why 30 - 40 metre yachts are the most popular size category, the sweet spot of yachting.
30-40m superyachts strike a balance in size that appeals especially to families and small groups. They require fewer crew members, usually five to six, allowing for a more personal and high-quality service experience while maintaining privacy. This size range is also more economical to operate, with lower fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and berthing fees than larger yachts. They comfortably accommodate eight to ten guests, providing both communal and private spaces, making them an ideal choice for those who value intimate, yet social settings.
VERSATILE OPTIONS
Providing a broad spectrum of designs due to intense competition among builders, this size bracket offers everything from mini explorers to fast open yachts tailored for thrill-seekers, along with a variety of hull types like planing, semi-displacement, and displacement. Each hull type caters to different preferences: planing hulls are best for speed, displacement hulls enhance comfort and range, and semi-displacement offers a balance of both. Additionally, this size is prevalent among sailing yachts, ideal for those looking to join the sailing community or participate in regattas.
PEDIGREE BUILDS
Most 30-40 metre yachts for sale are production or semi-custom builds, though full-custom options are still available. This allows for considerable personalisation, especially in the interior design, making it easier to tailor a yacht to personal tastes. The market is rich with esteemed builders, offering a variety of choices. Notable shipyards producing yachts in this bracket include Azimut, Benetti , Ferretti, Gulf Craft, Heesen , Mangusta, Perini Navi, Sanlorenzo , Sunseeker , and Baltic , each known for their distinct style and quality craftsmanship.
NAVIGATIONAL FREEDOM
Like their smaller counterparts, 30-40m superyachts can access most anchorages and cruising grounds, making them ideal for exploring diverse coastlines and docking in scenic marinas. Their size allows them to navigate shallower waters, such as in the Exumas , or cosy Mediterranean marinas with fewer restrictions than larger yachts which often have to cruise and anchor further offshore.
Case in point are the anchoring regulations and buoy camps used in key areas around the South of France and Corsica . Used to minimise the damage caused to Posidonia seagrass when anchoring they primarily cater to 24-40 metre yachts. Thus, vessels above 40 metres have to anchor further offshore and seek authorisation, resulting in limited access to some of the most scenic destinations in the Mediterranean.
UNCOMPROMISED LUXURY
30-40 metre yachts for sale deliver uncompromised luxury and comfort. Typically featuring four to five cabins, they offer ample space and privacy for 8 to 10 guests. Interior designs vary by style but generally include well-appointed, inviting living areas and generous outdoor spaces. Many yachts in this size also come with added luxuries such as Jacuzzis, enhancing the onboard experience. This size range achieves functional living with elegant aesthetics, and a deeper connection to the sea than many larger yachts, making this size bracket a preferred choice for those seeking a blend of comfort and luxury at sea.

Inside the luxury £30m yacht that sank in Italy with billionaire Mike Lynch on board
The bayesian yacht that sank off the coast of sicily on monday was once one of the most luxurious vessels in the world.
Joshua Nair
The luxurious yacht that sank off the coast of Sicily on Monday was once a multi-award winner for its sharp interior design.
In the early hours of Monday (19 August) morning, the sailing ship known as the Bayesian capsized and sank when a storm hit the coast of Sicily.
At the time, it was carrying 12 passengers along with 10 crew members.
It has been confirmed this morning that five of the six missing bodies have been recovered, including that of British billionaire Mike Lynch, 69 .
Chef Recaldo Thomas has also been confirmed dead, as only 15 of the 22 passengers made it onto a lifeboat before being discovered by a fellow ship.
The 184 feet (56 metre) superyacht was sold to Dutch real estate developer John Groenewoud for almost $40 million (£30.4 million), before being bought by Lynch's wife, Angela Bescares, who survived on Monday, for around £27 million in 2014.
Previously called Salute, the vessel was British -flagged and boasted the tallest aluminium mast in the world when it was built in 2008, which stood at 72 metres, winning it the award of 'best exterior styling' at the 2009 World Superyacht Awards, according to The Telegraph.
The stunning interior included a number of sleek, luxurious furnishings created by Remi Tessier, a yacht design specialist.
This also earned the vessel a number of awards, having received acclaim through its masterfully designed master bedroom, three double and two twin bedrooms, which accommodated 12 guests.
The superyacht had dark wood furnishings that were complimented by beige sofas and a deck that featured a large canvas to keep guests cool while at sea in the summer.
There were more intricate details onboard too, with thin brown pillars and intricate terracotta sculptures adding some Japanese culture to the ship's styling.
The Bayesian went on to win best interior at the International Superyacht Society Awards in 2008, while also being voted as one of the best large sailing yachts at the 2009 World Superyacht Awards.
Currently owned by Revtom, a company that lists Bacares as its legal owner, the yacht's name comes from a statistical model called 'Bayesian', which helps financial investors calculate risk.
This was Lynch's Ph.D. subject, which would help him to build his multi-billion pound empire in the future.
Operated by Camper & Nicholsons, the superyacht had twin 965 break horsepower engines, which has a range of 3,600 nautical miles at around 14-17 mph.
Following the tragic accident involving those onboard the Bayesian on Monday, a number of people linked to those who have gone missing have offered words of hope and support in the search for their bodies.
A friend of Lynch, Brent Hoberman, told Sky News they were 'all hoping for a miracle'.
"We knew it was unlikely but you still hold out hope," he said. "It's just so unbelievably tragic for him to go through what he went through over the last 12 years, defending his name and not really living a full life, to now for his death to be confirmed is obviously incredibly sad."

EXCLUSIVE Why did the Bayesian capsize? Prosecutors to probe keel of £30m superyacht and speak to boat's designer as unearthed clip from 2019 tornado shows what SHOULD happen in stormy conditions

Italian prosecutors will analyse the keel of the capsized £30million superyacht and speak to its designers as an investigation gets underway.
This morning five bodies recovered from the wreck of the doomed vessel were identified, including the ship's owner British tech tycoon Mike Lynch.
The underwater search is continuing for one person still missing, believed to be 18-year-old student Hannah Lynch.
Twenty two people, comprising 12 guests and 10 crew members, were on the luxury boat when it was ravaged by a 'black swan' waterspout and sank off the coast of Italy just before 5am on Monday.
Fifteen of the 22 people who were on board managed to escape and make it onto a life raft.
However six people, Mr Lynch, his daughter Hannah, Morgan Stanley International chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy and Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda remained unaccounted for.
The body of the boat's chef Recaldo Thomas, was found shortly after the boat sank on Monday.
Italian prosecutors will now look to explain why the Bayesian sank when other nearby boats managed to stay afloat during the freak storm.
Part of that investigation will centre on the ship's keel, which was partially elevated at the time of the storm.
The keel, which extends like a giant fin underneath the boat and acts as a counterweight to the tall mast, was not fully down despite poor weather being forecast hours earlier.
It comes as an unearthed video from 2019 shot in Auckland, New Zealand , showed what should happen when a ship like the Bayesian overturns in stormy weather.
Earlier today, the Mail's Robert Hardman revealed CCTV footage of a tornado pushing a large superyacht with a similar mast style to the Bayesian onto its side.
But rather than capsizing, the mast quickly flips straight back up to its upright position.
As the search operation continues on Thursday, other developments are:
- The Italian coastguard confirmed Mike Lynch's body was among the five recovered from the wreck, but his daughter Hannah is still missing
- Two hostesses, aged 20 and 22, who survived the disaster said they are 'alive by a miracle'
- The Mail's Robert Hardman explores unanswered questions about what could have caused the tragedy
- A resurfaced interview one week before the tragedy reveals how Chris Morvillo dedicated his career to getting Mike Lynch acquitted on US fraud charges.

Experts told the Mail that it is fairly standard for the keel not to be fully lowered while a ship is at anchor, but with storms forecast and portholes reportedly left open, it raises questions over the cause of the tragedy.
Bayesian yacht sinking RECAP: Hannah Lynch remains lost at sea as father is identified
Prosecutors are seeking to speak with the ships' designers, after captain James Cutfield was questioned for two hours on Wednesday.
The company which manufactured the boat has now claimed human error was to blame.
Amid increasing questions as to how such a robust ship, which had previously sailed in Antarctica and was described as 'bulletbroof', could have sank Giovanni Costantino, CEO of Italian Sea Group, has spoken out on the tragedy.
ISG bought the Bayesian's constructors Perini Navi two years ago. Mr Costantino said: 'This was human error, the yacht sank because it took on water. From where exactly the investigators will tell us. The dynamic of the sinking is seen and read from AIS (Automatic Identification System) data and lasted sixteen minutes.
'We have given this data to the prosecutors at Termini Immerse. From the images it looks as if the yacht had been taking on water for four minutes.
'All it took was another gust of wind to turn her over, that meant more water coming in. She then straightened very briefly before going down.'

Earlier a spokesman for the company told MailOnline 'procedures were not followed' on the luxury vessel and the sinking was down to 'portholes being left open despite bad weather being forecast hours earlier'.
A spokesperson said: 'The Bayesian was built to a very high standards and it would not have sunk if proper procedures had been followed by the crew.
'A storm had been forecast earlier, no fishing boats went out and yet the portholes were not shut, the yacht sank because it was engulfed by a massive amount of water through open portholes.'
The spokesperson added: 'The Bayesian would have remained afloat in any weather, even if it was being swung from left to right in gale force winds but it could never have remained in the water with open port holes.
EXCLUSIVE Why did all but one crew member of Bayesian superyacht survive while passengers remain missing?
'The design made the yacht extremely sturdy, but it couldn't stay up because there had been a huge intake of water though open portholes.
'The yacht was built to withstand whatever the conditions were. The mast has nothing to do with what happened, it was built that way when it was launched and it had a refit in 2020 in Spain, the yacht sank because procedures in bad weather were not followed.'
The Bayesian was 56m long, had a 74m mast and was built in 2008 with David Hutchinson, captain of its sister ship Rosehearty, telling Boat International 'she was bulletproof'.
He told the specialist publication: 'We've been to Antarctica and Chile, and we've had her in 70knots of wind ' but they had never been put in a situation that he felt was unmanageable.
The Bayesian went down in a matter of minutes after being struck by the tornado while anchored off the coast at Porticello, near Palermo Sicily on Monday.
Bayesian's captain James Cutfield, 51, survived and is currently in hospital.
Prosecutors are looking into the theory that the yacht's portholes and hatches were not closed in time ahead of the storm, despite bad weather being forecast, and if any of the crew are liable.
Italian Sea Group completed the buyout of Perini Navi for 80 million Euros in 2022 and a press release at the time said they were 'extremely satisfied' with the purchase complementing its 'expertise in the sailing yacht sector'.

How did the superyacht Bayesian sink? Experts say weather was just one factor
Divers searching for 6 missing people locate 5 bodies inside wrecked yacht's hull.
Social Sharing
A complicated search effort is underway deep beneath the surface of the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Italy, where a superyacht sank early Monday during a fierce storm.
Dive crews are attempting to enter the wreck of the Bayesian, a 56-metre long British-flagged luxury vessel, which is sitting in some 50 metres of water near the Sicilian fishing village of Porticello.
Fifteen of the 22 passengers and crew members on board were rescued. Divers searching for six people considered missing, including British businessman Mike Lynch, located five bodies inside the yacht's hull on Wednesday, and retrieved four of them from the water.
Searchers previously recovered the body of Recaldo Thomas, the ship's Canadian-Antiguan cook, in the water not far from where the Bayesian sank.

Questions have emerged about why a boat designed to handle severe weather sank so rapidly and whether or not some of its features could've been a factor in its demise. Maritime experts say investigations may, in time, reveal what led to the disaster.
"There needs to be an investigation as to why this happened, what went wrong and, you know, how to prevent it in the future cases," said Simon Boxall, an oceanographer and senior lecturer at the University of Southampton in England.
Canadian dead, others missing after superyacht sinks near Sicily
How did the bayesian sink so quickly.
Grainy footage from closed-circuit cameras on the shore broadcast on the website of the Giornale di Sicilia newspaper showed the Bayesian's majestic mast just before it disappeared.
Karsten Borner, captain of the Sir Robert Baden Powell, which rescued the survivors who managed to get into a lifeboat, told The Associated Press he was close enough to be able to see the Bayesian as the storm came in.
"A moment later, she was gone," he said.
The survivors told the rescuers they went flat on the water "and were sunk in two minutes."
Boxall said vessels rely on being able to steer and navigate stormy seas, but the Bayesian was anchored and stationary, which likely made it more vulnerable to the storm and, potentially, a waterspout , or mini tornado that creates a whirlwind over the surface of the sea.
He said it was also dark, meaning "you wouldn't see this sort of very unique event coming towards you."
CCTV footage shows yacht Bayesian as deadly storm strikes
"It's a freak of nature," Boxall said. "I think the fact that so many have survived, so far, is probably a miracle."
Tom Sharpe, a retired Royal Navy commander and defence commentator, told CBC News the weather was likely not the only issue.
He says it's rare that a weather event like this takes down a boat.
"There's nearly always a sequence [of events]," he said in an interview from Guildford, England, explaining that everything from safety protocols to the culture on board the vessel needs to be taken into account.
Was the boat's design part of the problem?
The Bayesian was built in 2008 by Italian luxury yacht maker Perini Navi.
Andrea Ratti, a nautical design professor at Milan Polytechnic, told Reuters that a boat the size of the Bayesian could only sink so rapidly by taking on a huge amount of water.
He suggested that one or more portholes, windows or other openings may have been broken or smashed open by the waterspout, letting in water. There has also been media speculation that a major hatch might have been inadvertently left open.
Reports have also highlighted that the Bayesian featured a 72-metre mast — one of the tallest in the world.
Ratti said an unusually tall mast is not by itself an element of vulnerability in a storm.
A second expert, structural engineer Filippo Mattioni, was also skeptical about the suggestion the boat may have sunk due to a broken mast, which likely would have caused major damage smashing against the hull.
Fire department diver Marco Tilotta told the newspaper Il Messaggero that the wreck was "apparently intact," with "no gashes, no signs of impact." However, only half of the hull is visible to divers.
The Bayesian also had a retractable keel — the fin-like structure under the hull that helps stabilize boats and acts as a counterweight to the mast.
Both Ratti and Mattioni wondered if the yacht had been anchored with the keel up, reducing the vessel's depth under water and making it less stable. Ratti said strong winds might have caused the boat to start oscillating wildly, "like a pendulum," putting exceptional strain on the mast.
Sharpe pointed out that a mast the size of the Bayesian's is designed for a massive sail, and without that sail raised and catching the wind, the gusts likely would've had a negligible impact on the aluminum pole.
- What we know about the capsized superyacht off the Sicilian coast
He instead suggested the anchor may have played a pivotal role.
"My kind of working assumption is that she was probably a bit further in at anchor, and it's very likely, in these sort of conditions, that her anchor dragged," he said.
In such a situation, he said, a crew is better off steering toward the anchor to stabilize the vessel or raising the anchor and heading out to sea to ride out the storm.
"They might have got caught in that middle ground where they're not on a particularly good anchorage, but the anchor is now controlling the bow of the ship."
Sicily superyacht rescue: What divers are up against | About That
What caused the extreme weather.
Although Sharpe says the weather is unlikely the sole cause of the sinking, he notes the Mediterranean isn't the calm sea often pictured in travel brochures.
"It can get pretty nasty," he said.
The type of storm that struck Monday is fuelled by warm water and the Mediterranean is warmer than ever, said Boxall, noting there's been about a three and a half degree increase in the 20-year average temperature.
'The ship behind us was gone,' says captain who rescued yacht passengers
Climatologists say global warming is making such violent and unexpected tempests more frequent.
Luca Mercalli, president of Italy's meteorological society, said the sea surface temperature around Sicily in the days leading up to the shipwreck was about 30 C.
"This creates an enormous source of energy that contributes to these storms," he told Reuters.

Tributes have been pouring in for the “genius” Mike Lynch as the desperate search for his 18-year-old daughter Hannah has been called off until the morning.
The British technology entrepreneur was identified on Thursday as one of the five bodies discovered on the wreckage of his superyacht the previous day.
The Italian coastguard also confirmed that the bodies of Jonathan Bloomer , his wife Judith Bloomer, lawyer Christopher Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo have all now been recovered from the Bayesian in Sicily.
Among the tributes that have been paid to all five, David Tabizel, Mr Lynch’s co-founder at Autonomy, said: “The world has lost a genius.”
Divers and underwater vehicles continued to scour the scene for a fourth day as Mr Lynch’s youngest daughter remains unaccounted for after the 56-metre vessel sank in a severe storm in the early hours of Monday.
However, the search was called off at around 8pm on Thursday with divers expected to begin again at 6.30am on Friday.
The boat’s chef Recaldo Thomas was confirmed dead on Monday, while a further 15 people survived the disaster.
‘I knew Mike Lynch and his next idea was to get us to believe the unbelievable'
Just under 10 weeks ago, 59-year-old Mike Lynch was on trial in San Francisco on 17 charges of fraud . He was almost guaranteed to receive a 25-year sentence.
He was terrified that he would die in a US prison, not because he was guilty – he had spent £30m on legal fees arguing his innocence – but because it’s almost unheard of in the US to win a case against the US Justice Department. His chances of winning were put at 0.5 per cent. However, after 13 years of putting together detailed evidence to support his plea, he was acquitted and it felt like a miracle.
Once back in the UK, Lynch set about celebrating what he called his second life. Through tears, he told one interviewer how even the traffic in London seemed magical. “I’m just thinking this is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen,” he said.
This month, the tech tycoon took his family, friends and lawyers for further celebrations on a Mediterranean cruise aboard his luxury sailboat. It s ank in a freak violent squall in the small hours of Monday. His body was discovered on Wednesday, alongside five others recovered from the sunken Bayesian superyacht with his 18-year-old daughter Hannah still reported missing.
Jonathan Margolis writes:
I knew Mike Lynch and his next idea was to get us to believe the unbelievable
The entrepreneur who died in a freak yachting disaster has been dubbed the British Bill Gates, but Jonathan Margolis, who knew him well, says he was a fascinating man obsessed with the science of probability and his next project was to make us believe the unbelievable
Mike Lynch: The British tech trailblazer
Mike Lynch, the tech tycoon who died when his luxury yacht sank off Sicily, spent more than a decade building Britain's biggest software company and almost as long again fighting charges he had inflated its value to secure a multi-billion-pound sale.
Lynch's body was retrieved on Thursday from the wreck of Monday's disaster, a senior Italian official said.
Lynch founded Autonomy in 1996 from his ground-breaking research at Cambridge University, and was lauded by shareholders, business leaders and politicians when he sold it to Hewlett-Packard for $11 billion 15 years later.
But in late 2012, HP stunned Wall Street and the City of London by saying it had discovered a massive accounting scandal. Lynch denied the charges.
HP wrote off $8.8 billion of value and triggered 12 years of legal battles in courtrooms from London to San Francisco.
Lynch was known for his formidable intelligence, turning his cutting-edge academic research into a multi-billion pound tech business and becoming known as Britain's Bill Gates.
He did not shy away from clashing with critics of his company - including on one occasion Oracle's Larry Ellison - and took a central role in building his defence.
He hired the biggest names in Britain's legal and corporate communications professions, and invited some journalists into a room filled with neatly stacked piles of company documents to be briefed on its accounts.
HP had been drawn to Autonomy's ability to search and organise unstructured information for clients, a killer application in a world of unlimited data, before the emergence of advanced artificial intelligence.
Lynch received about $800 million for his stake in Autonomy.
Watch: Captain details Bayesian sinking ‘within two minutes’ after rescuing survivors
Who are the victims of the bayesian yacht sinking.
The bodies of those found in the search for six people missing after the sinking of a luxury yacht during a storm off the coast of Sicily are being recovered from the wreckage.
Five bodies have now been brought to shore in the small fishing village of Porticello, around 11 miles from the Sicilian capital of Palermo.
On Thursday, the Italian Coastguard confirmed to the PA news agency that the sixth and final person yet to be found is a woman.
These are the details of each of the victims on board:
British mother held baby above waves after yacht sank, says doctor
An Italian doctor at the hospital where British tourist Charlotte Emsley and her one-year-old daughter were taken said the mother held her baby above the waves after the yacht sank.
Dr Domenico Cipolla, of Di Cristina Children's Hospital in Palermo, told PA: "Obviously the mother and the husband were so shaken by what has happened, it was a tragedy for them.
"She told me that two minutes after falling asleep with her baby they were in the water, she did not understand how this happened, it went dark.
"She held the child high in her arms above the waves, for a few seconds the baby was in the water, but she saved her.
"She sometimes cried for her friends in the hospital."
Who is Hannah Lynch?
The daughter of British entrepreneur Mike Lynch is the final person left to be found after a superyacht sank off the coast of Sicily , with emergency workers saying that she remains their “priority”.
Hannah Lynch, 18, had been onboard her tech tycoon father’s luxury boat alongside 20 others, when the Bayesian capsized during stormy weather .
The bodies of Mr Lynch, Morgan Stanley International bank chairman Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judy Bloomer, Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo, have all been recovered from the wreckage and identified.
My colleague Holly Evans reports:
Who is Hannah Lynch? British tech tycoon’s teenage daughter still missing
The teenager is due to study at Oxford University in September
Yacht’s captain reportedly questioned by authorities for two hours
The luxury yacht's captain, James Cutfield, was reportedly questioned by authorities for two hours as they began speaking to all crew members on Thursday.
Survivors have been recuperating at a hotel complex in Porticello, where authorities are gathering witness statements.
Italian Coastguard’s working theory is still that Hannah Lynch is inside the boat
The Italian Coastguard’s working theory is still that the missing woman is inside the boat, spokesman Vincenzo Zagarola has said.
Mike Lynch’s daughter Hannah is the only person yet to be found after six people went missing when the Bayesian superyacht sank.
Christopher Morvillo’s law firm ‘heartbroken’ at death of US lawyer and wife Neda
Christopher Morvillo’s law firm has said it is “heartbroken” at the tragic death of the US lawyer and his wife Neda.
In a statement issued to The Independent on Thursday, a Clifford Chance spokesperson said: “We are heartbroken at the tragic passing of our partner, Christopher Morvillo and his wife, Neda. We are deeply saddened and still coming to terms with this terrible loss. Our utmost priority is to continue to support Chris's family at this very distressing time. Our thoughts extend to the families and loved ones of all those affected.
“We wish to express our deepest condolences and our love and support to Chris’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. We also want to thank the Italian authorities and rescue teams for everything they have done.”
Decision on raising yacht from seabed ‘not on agenda’, says coastguard
A decision on whether to raise the sunken yacht from the seabed is "not on the agenda", but will be in the future, a spokesman from the Italian Coastguard has said.
Vincenzo Zagarola told PA: "This is not a topic on the agenda. It will be, but not now."

The underwater robots used by rescuers in sunken yacht search
Share this with
The search for six people missing since a superyacht was overturned during a violent storm off the coast of Sicily now involves robots .
A cruise on the Mediterranean Sea aboard the 180-foot Bayesian turned deadly when it sank in the early hours of Monday, possibly due to a waterspout .
Of the 22 aboard, 15 were rescued and three bodies have been reportedly recovered. Four are still unaccounted for.
Follow Metro.co.uk’s live blog for the latest updates on the Sicily yacht sinking
The search for the missing has been plagued by challenges. Having sank 165 feet, divers can only stay underwater for about 12 minutes; inside the ship, they face narrow corridors and countless furniture pieces and debris blocking their way.
Italy’s coastguard, Guardia Costiera, revealed yesterday that rescue crews are now using a remotely operated vehicle, or ROV.
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video
‘Eight GC divers were employed with the help of a remotely controlled vehicle ROV,’ the coastguard said on X.
The robots are usually controlled above the water by using a joystick as if they were a video game, allowing people to explore the sea without, well, going into it.
The coastguard said today the ROV rescuers deployed can go up to 300 metres below sea level – this is just a little under the world record for the deepest scuba dive at 332.35 metres – and zip about for up to seven hours.
Some models can go well beyond 4,500 metres into the ocean, so are often used by search and rescue, the military and even to inspect nuclear power plant tanks .
An ROV generally moves at speeds of a few knots, or about 5km per hour. While models weigh less than 3kg, others easily weigh thousands.
Most submersibles have a camera and lights so can transmit images and video back to the ship – the ROV the coastguard is using even has a pincer, technically known as a manipulator arm
‘The device deployed by the coast guard,’ the coast guard said, ‘aims to provide useful and timely elements to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident’.
The images and video will be sent to prosecutors in Termini Imerese, a city east of where the yacht sank, who are investigating.
An underwater drone is one of a raft of tools that Italian officials are hoping to find the six passengers with.
Those still missing are tech tycoon Mike Lynch and his daughter Hannah; Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of Morgan Stanley International; his wife, Judy Bloomer; Christopher Morvillo, a lawyer at Clifford Chance; and his wife, Neda Morvillo.
Mr Lynch was acquitted of fraud in a US trial in June. He had been accused of defrauding HP when he sold his company, Autonomy, to the company for $11billion.
His co-defendant and former vice president of finance, Stephen Chamberlain, died on Monday after being fatally struck by a car while out for a run in Stretham two days before.
