Vessel Walkthrough:

As you board the yacht from the aft, you'll land on the spacious swim platform. This area has dual purposes; it’s perfect for launching water toys and accessing the water, and it also serves as an initial boarding step.

The large beach club features a half bath on the port side, a fully equipped stand-up bar with stools, and a u-shaped lounge on the starboard side. The beach club can be directly accessed from and become part of the crew area. This area also serves as a crew lounge at night and the settee converts to an additional berth. There is an access door plus the entire stern aft panel can be lifted into the air or there is an access door mounted in the center of the panel. The swim platform is hydraulic and can be lowered into the water.

From the swim platform, ascend a few steps to the aft deck. This outdoor area is ideal for lounging and dining. Featuring a large dining table surrounded by plush seating, it provides the perfect setting for al fresco meals and socializing while remaining sheltered from the elements by the overhead deck.

Step through the large sliding glass doors into the salon. Here, you're greeted by a beautifully designed, open-plan living space adorned with elegant furniture, rich woodwork, and expansive windows that flood the area with natural light. Plush sofas and loungers invite relaxation, complemented by a state-of-the-art entertainment system including a large flat-screen TV and premium sound system.

A few steps forward from the salon, the dining area seamlessly integrates into the space. Featuring a stylish dining table capable of seating 6 to 8 guests, this area is perfect for enjoying formal dinners.

The galley is designed so it can either open to the salon for casual entertaining or closed for more formal service. There is a large double door refrigerator as well as extra refrigeration drawers, a full pantry, and dishwasher. (Note - an additional full freezer is located on the bridge deck.)

You can access the upper bridge deck three ways – immediately upon boarding the aft deck there is a staircase on the port side leading up. When you are walking forward on the side decks there are staircases, port and starboard leading up. There is a set of interior stairs leading to the sky lounge on the starboard side in the galley.

There is a large U-shaped lounge outdoor seating area forward of the helm station with cocktail tables as well as a nice sun pad area. There is a second outdoor seating area aft of the pilothouse as well as a standup bar with stools that includes a sink, wine cooler, ice maker, and storage.

The Pilothouse Includes a private head on the port side and a large sofa lounge on the starboard side. A custom owner's desk is forward on the port side, and forward of that is the helm station which is well laid out and includes three Stidd helm chairs. Complete details on electronics and audio-visual equipment are shown below in this listing.

Descend to the lower deck, where you'll find the on-deck full-beam master stateroom. This haven of comfort features a king-sized bed, a spacious walk-in closet, and a private seating area. The en-suite bathroom is opulent, with double vanities, a large shower, and premium fixtures.

The lower deck hosts two VIP staterooms. Each room offers a queen-sized bed, tastefully designed interiors, and en-suite bathrooms. These staterooms ensure that guests experience the same level of comfort and luxury as the owner.

Three additional guest accommodations include twin staterooms that can be configured for different sleeping arrangements. These rooms also come with en-suite bathrooms, ensuring privacy and comfort for all guests.

The lower deck also houses the crew quarters, comprising dedicated sleeping spaces, a communal mess area, and a small galley. The layout ensures that crew members have their own private space while remaining close enough to attend to all guest and yacht needs efficiently.

Likely located towards the aft, the engine room houses the powerful engines that propel the Sky Lounge C92. Equipped with advanced engineering systems, the engine room ensures that the yacht delivers both performance and reliability. This area also contains various technical systems essential for the yacht's operation, including generators, watermakers, and air conditioning units.

One of Hargrave’s standout attributes is customization. From bespoke interiors tailored to your taste to specific technological enhancements and layout modifications, owners can work closely with Hargrave's designers to create a yacht that aligns with their personal style and functional requirements.

With the Hargrave Sky Lounge C92, every detail from the luxurious interiors to the sophisticated technical systems has been crafted to deliver an unparalleled yachting experience. Whether it's lounging on the aft deck, dining in the salon, sunbathing on the flybridge, or retiring to the master suite, the C92 offers the ultimate blend of luxury, comfort, and performance.

1. What should I look for when buying a luxury yacht like the Johnson 87 Skylounge?

When considering the purchase of a luxury yacht such as the Johnson 87 Skylounge, it’s crucial to focus on several key areas. Check the engine hours and maintenance records to understand the yacht’s operational history; this model has 2x Caterpillar C-32 V-12 Diesel Engines with relatively low hours, indicating well-maintained engines. Assess the accommodations and onboard facilities—a yacht that sleeps 8 guests in 4 staterooms, for example, offers excellent space and comfort. Additionally, investigate the yacht’s navigational and safety equipment. With comprehensive electronics including Furuno navigation systems and an array of safety gear such as EPIRB and survival rafts, you’re looking at a vessel that prioritizes your journey’s safety and enjoyment.

2. How important are engine hours and maintenance records when purchasing a yacht?

Engine hours and maintenance records are paramount when purchasing a yacht. They serve as a clear indicator of how much the yacht has been used and how well it has been cared for. For instance, the Johnson 87 Skylounge with 1,410 and 1,420 engine hours for its twin Caterpillar engines, alongside documented generator rebuilds and maintenance activities between 2021-2022, showcases a yacht that has seen reasonable use while being meticulously maintained. Always request comprehensive maintenance records to ensure you are investing in a yacht that won’t lead to unexpected repairs and associated costs.

3. What type of amenities and features should I expect from a luxury yacht priced around $2.5 million?

A luxury yacht like the Johnson 87 Skylounge, priced at approximately $2.5 million, offers a premium level of comfort, safety, and performance. Expect spacious accommodations for guests and crew, such as the 8-guest capacity in 4 staterooms plus additional quarters for 3 crew members. High-end yachts also feature advanced navigation systems, like Furuno electronics, and comprehensive safety equipment including EPIRB and life rafts. Luxuries such as a Sea Recovery water maker, hydraulic bow and stern thrusters for easy maneuvering, and entertainment features like a 14’ Novarania tender with a 50HP engine underscore the value and experience such a yacht offers.

4. Can you explain the significance of stabilization systems on yachts like the ABT Trac Stabilizers found on the Johnson 87 Skylounge?

Stabilization systems, such as the ABT Trac Stabilizers on the Johnson 87 Skylounge, significantly enhance onboard comfort by reducing the yacht’s roll in various sea conditions. These systems work to counteract the rolling motion that can cause seasickness and discomfort among passengers, ensuring a smoother, more comfortable cruising experience. The presence of quality stabilization systems also reflects on the yacht’s overall capability for long-distance cruising in comfort, serving as a key feature for those looking to undertake extensive voyages.

5. What maintenance should recent buyers anticipate for a yacht of this age and size?

For a yacht like the Johnson 87 Skylounge, dating back to 2007, prospective buyers should plan for routine and preventative maintenance to ensure the vessel remains in top condition. This includes regular engine checks, servicing of the stabilizers and thrusters, and upkeep of the electrical systems including generators and battery chargers. The recent maintenance updates, such as new bottom paint, batteries, and generator overhauls, provide an excellent foundation; however, ongoing care such as annual haul-outs for inspection and servicing of navigation and safety equipment remains essential for preserving both the yacht’s performance and value.

HOW THIS YACHT CAME TO BE

Last week someone asked the owner why he built with Hargrave and we thought his answer really summed it up:

"After considering a build with Horizon, OA and Benetti we knew what we wanted. We were disappointed that the design and systems changes and upgrades we wanted, including a build to class, were not available. Hargrave's new facility offered European craftsmanship and assurances that were worth the extra cost."

This Hargrave owner made a number of significant refinements that you will recognize on your first visit. On the exterior alone you’ll quickly notice the shaping, styling, and paint styling are all a level above the competition. Working with Fort Lauderdale-based Yacht Interiors by Shelley, they both took full advantage of the yard's skilled craftsmen and the level of detail in the fabrication, construction, hardware, cabinetry, and even the functional details like the arrangement plan, are all top-shelf custom construction examples. The yacht is also fully certified by the RINA Classification Society.

(We understand buyers today look at a listing online for 90 seconds or less and most just want to see the photos and videos ASAP. If you are interested in this yacht we have a full set of interior specifications showing all marble, granite, wood, fabric, as well as all the equipment installed onboard. It is available on request.)

Buying a custom yacht is the equivalent of owning an original artwork while buying a luxury production boat is more like a numbered copy. This special and totally custom yacht is a rare offering from Hargrave and we are excited to present it to you now.

BASIC ARRANGEMENT

Configuration - This is a three-deck sky lounge configured yacht built on a semi-displacement Jack Sarin hull form and carrying 5,000 gallons of fuel so you can really explore some new places with her 2,000-mile range.

Accommodations – There is a master suite on deck with his and her bath, while below there are three full guest suites – 2 have VIP queen berths and one is a twin berth cabin that can be converted to a VIP queen berth. In addition, there is a separate exercise room and a laundry center forward on the cabin deck level and two additional cabins aft that can be used as either crew or for guests if you are an owner-operator.

Key Equipment - The yacht is equipped with a full handling package from Naiad Dynamics of At Rest stabilizers with Datum Controls, as well as both bow and stern thrusters. She has a pair of Northern Lights 38 kW generators to handle all electrical loads, 5 blade Nibral performance propellers mounted on 4” Aquamet shafts, and all hooked up to ZF 2250 transmissions at 3:1 ratio, and a pair of MTU 1600 hp engines.

UPPER BRIDGE DECK

Access - You can access the upper bridge deck three ways – immediately upon boarding the aft deck there is a staircase on the port side leading up. When you are walking forward on the side decks there are staircases port and starboard leading up. There is a set of interior stairs leading to the sky lounge on the starboard side in the galley.

Exterior Layout – There is a large U-shaped lounge outdoor seating area forward of the helm station with cocktail tables as well as a nice sun pad area. There is a second outdoor seating area aft of the pilothouse as well as a stand-up bar with stools that includes a sink, wine cooler, icemaker, and storage.

Pilothouse - Includes a private head on the port side and a large sofa lounge on the starboard side. A custom owner's desk is forward on the port side, and forward of that is the helm station which is well laid out and includes three Stidd helm chairs. Complete details on electronics and audio-visual equipment are shown below in this listing.

MAIN DECK & AFT DECK

Master Cabin Suite – All the way forward is the master suite which includes a king-sized berth, his and her bath with shower, a seating area on the starboard side, and lots of storage space including 10’ of hanging locker space!

There is a large double door refrigerator as well as extra refrigeration drawers, a full pantry, dishwasher. (Note - an additional full freezer is located on the bridge deck.)

Dining Area – Located directly aft of the galley it can easily handle eight guests for meals and be serviced from both the port and starboard side of the well-equipped galley.

The Aft Deck – When you step out of the salon onto the aft deck you’ll find a unique and attractive seating area configured for today’s type of entertaining. When you look at the photos the bar is actually designed to have active interaction with guests in the seating area.

BEACH CLUB & SWIM DECK

The large beach club features a half bath on the port side, a fully equipped stand-up bar with stools, and a u-shaped lounge on the starboard side. The beach club can be directly accessed from and become part of the crew area. This area also serves as a crew lounge at night and the settee converts to an additional berth. There is an access door plus the entire stern aft panel can be lifted into the air or there is an access door mounted in the center of the panel. The swim platform is hydraulic and can be lowered into the water.

860 Deluxbridge Skylounge Motoryacht

High demand for this skylounge model has greatly increased due to the abundant advantages of a temperature controlled upper helm station, and protection from the elements during blue water and long distance cruising. Outer Reef Yachts’ 860 Deluxbridge layout features 4 spacious owner & guest cabins, 2 crew cabins aft with heads, lounge and galley. Because the upper helm station eliminates the need for main deck helm station, the galley space below is greatly increased, creating an expansive country kitchen for cooking, dining and entertainment. The spacious living accommodations echo the feel of yachts 100 feet plus, and the ample skylounge area provides additional, private and protected dining, entertainment, and office area – all welcomed space options that are valuable during extended journeys. Upgrades include 1140hp CAT C-18's, 55hp hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, Trac Zero Speed stabilizers, twin 38KW Northern Lights generators, and a very extensive electronics & AV system. As with every Outer Reef Yacht within the collection, the Outer Reef 860 Deluxbridge defines new standards with her cutting-edge technology, robust build, and contemporary appeal.

MCY 70 Skylounge

Monte Carlo Yachts’ models are easy to spot in any harbor. They have signature overlapping circular hull windows, with profiles inspired by sport-fish yachts. With the MCY 70 Skylounge, the builder adds an all-weather helm that doubles as an entertaining space—all of which can be customized to suit the owner’s taste.

My tour of the MCY 70 Skylounge revealed a yacht designed for comfortable family cruising. I stepped aboard via the swim platform, which is sized for a 12-foot tender. Twin stairways flank the transom and lead up to the aft deck. There, a twin-pedestal wood dining table has a transom settee and casual chairs for alfresco meals. The flybridge overhang provides shade and protection from the elements.

Inside, the furnishings and cabinetry are all low-profile, allowing unobstructed visibility from stem to stern. Not only do the 43-inch-high-by-8-foot-long windows yield panoramic vistas, but the yacht’s bulwarks are cut down to enhance ocean views. The forward windshield has a center pane with side curved glass for clear sightlines. And because the helm station is up on the flybridge, there’s more interior living space on the main deck. Salon seating includes an L-shaped settee to port and twin armchairs.

MCY 70 Skylounge

The galley is forward and to port, with a four-burner induction cooktop, oven, dishwasher and fridge/freezer drawers. The adjacent six- to eight-seat expanding glass dining table keeps guests within earshot of the chef.

All throughout the main deck, the yacht’s volume seems substantial. There is 6-foot-8-inch headroom, light fabrics and leathers, recessed LED lighting, and windows in all directions. A starboard-side door lets crew move fore and aft without passing through the salon. An optional day-head can be installed aft, or the space can be used for stowage.

MCY 70 Skylounge

In the salon’s starboard aft corner are a staircase down to the master stateroom, as well as a steel staircase with floating glass steps up to the sky lounge, where the Italian design team of Nuvolari Lenard created a truly comfortable space. The center helm seat is flanked by guest bench seats, with sliding side windows for fresh air when desired. Open the electric sunroof and aft doors, and the enclosed bridge converts to a breezy oasis.

The flat helm console houses rocker switches, thruster joysticks, MAN low-profile electric throttles and other systems. Three Garmin multifunction displays are housed in individual pods, adding to the unrestricted visibility forward. The sofa and ottoman to port are ideal for stretching out after a long run.

Aft on this deck is an outdoor space with several chairs and cocktail tables, protected from the wind and secure within welded railings.

MCY 70 Skylounge

Belowdecks, the full-beam master stateroom has a king berth on centerline with a wraparound headboard, pearl-white lacquer walls and 6-foot-8-inch headroom. This stateroom is a hideaway place with a portside sofa, starboard vanity/desk and flush-mounted 43-inch TV. There’s an oversize marble shower stall with a seat and rain shower in the en suite head, a walk-in closet, and a washer/dryer in the staircase foyer to allow easy living on extended voyages.

The other three guest staterooms are forward, laid out as a forepeak VIP and a pair of twins. The VIP has a queen berth and an en suite head with a tiled shower stall. The twin-berth staterooms can convert to doubles, and an en suite head in the port room serves them both. MCY got creative with the lateral stowage under the center staircase, which is accessible from each guest stateroom. Crew have twin bunks just forward of the engine room.

MCY 70 Skylounge

Far forward on the MCY 70 Skylounge (just follow the teak-capped rails past the Portuguese bridge) is a bow lounge. With a center walk-through, this haven includes sun pads, electric high-low teak tables with dining for 10, pop-up accent lights and a sunshade. Forward is a raised deck that houses the windlass, anchor gear and cleats, keeping these toe-busting protrusions out of walking areas.

A high level of personalization is key for MCY. While the 70 Skylounge bears a strong family resemblance to the builder’s other models on the outside, it can be customized throughout the interior, making it worth a look inside and out.
