The incredible aircraft carrier yacht with its own golf course

We’ve all seen impressive yachts and mega-yachts, but Mitsi Studio has gone to the next level – designing the very first aircraft yacht in the world which happens to have its own golf course.

Onboard the ‘Noahs Twin Carrier’ is a landing strip for jets, which when flipped, transforms into a spectacular three-hole golf course which includes trees and bunkers.

The concept for the mega-yacht, outlined by Thomas Loopstra, co-founder of Mitsi Studio, also includes an infinity pool, tiki village, helipad, and a dock for a speedboat – and that’s just what’s above deck.

Though it’s just a concept right now, if brought to life, it would undoubtedly be the daddy of yachts out in the ocean.

Golf fans fired up as bryson’s next “breaking 50” guest is revealed.

Bryson DeChambeau’s YouTube channel has been on fire lately.

10 days ago, Bryson posted a video to his “Breaking 50” series with former President Donald Trump that has surpassed 10 million views on the popular platform.

The “Breaking 50” series is a challenge where DeChambeau and a guest play from the forward tees in a best ball format to see if they can shoot better than 50, which requires something close to perfection. Thus far, he’s had guests such as Paige Spiranac, Garrett Clark, Grant Horvat and Sergio Garcia.

On Thursday, the reigning U.S. Open Champion’s next guest was revealed via Instagram.

Golf legend John Daly posted some photos to his social media account indicating he’d be alongside Bryson trying to break 50.

The “Breaking 50” videos are always entertaining, but I imagine having the eccentric Daly alongside DeChambeau will be a “must-watch” episode.

Fred Couples shares epic 7-iron story involving caddie Joe LaCava

While playing on the PGA Tour Champions this week, Fred Couples told an entertaining story about the 1992 Westchester Classic.

“1992, playing the 72nd hole at the Westchester Classic, playing OK. I pounded a drive down the left side, it’s a par-5 with the wind and I got it around the corner, but I’m in the rough.

“205 [to the hole], I like 6 [iron], Joe [LaCava] likes 7 [iron], I go with 7. Pound it, not enough.

“I know he knows this, but I do this with the 7-iron right by the bag…”

Couples then tosses the club, demonstrating what he did back in 1992 after he was upset with LaCava’s advice.

“I go play the hole, make par,” Couples continued.

“We fly all the way across to Pebble Beach. I get on the range Tuesday for a practice round going through my clubs. No 7-iron.”

“Joe [LaCava}, what’s going on? No 7-iron! Where’s my 7-iron?”

“It’s back on the 18th fairway where you left it,” LaCava replied.

Couples recalled how he felt in the moment: “I don’t know if I laughed at first or if I was livid, but I lost it on him. But then, I had to laugh, because, you know, I threw it down.”

Callaway exploring ‘potential spin-off of Topgolf’ after being ‘disappointed in stock performance for some time’

In 2021, Callaway acquired Topgolf in what most people saw as a terrific decision given the popularity of the restaurant/driving range combination.

However, on Wednesday, Callaway announced that Topgolf is underperforming, and they will conduct a full strategic review of the Topgolf business. They also stated that they will explore “a potential spin-off of Topgolf.”

In a statement to his investors, Topgolf Callaway CEO Chip Brewer assured them that Topgolf was still a “high-quality business”.

“We remain convinced Topgolf is a high-quality business with significant future opportunity, At the same time, we have been disappointed in our stock performance for some time, as well as more recent same-venue sales performance.”

“The review includes the assessment of organic strategies to return Topgolf to profitable same-venue sales growth, as well as inorganic alternatives”.

The company has also reported an 8.2% loss in equipment revenue.

It’s unclear what Callaway perceives as a “potential spin off” of Topgolf, but there may be more news coming in the near future regarding Callaway’s plans.

Golfing Holidays On a Superyacht

Read on to find our top destinations in the Mediterranean and Caribbean for golfing holidays on a superyacht.

So the boss loves golf! Whilst on board, the guests are always looking to get ashore for at least one round of 9 holes, and they love it when you dock in locations that have some of the best golf courses in the world.

With special thanks to West Nautical , we have put together a list of the best Golf Course in the Med and the Caribbean.

The Mediterranean:

French riviera.

The French Riviera boasts some of the finest golf courses in the world. Being such a luxurious and glamourous destination, there will be plenty of other superyachts in the area. The beaches and restaurants the French Riviera offers are exceptional, as are its golf courses.

Golf Club Saint-Tropez was developed by South African golfer Gary Player and his team. While playing, golfers can take in the stunning views of Saint-Tropez harbour and the Pampelonne beaches. With 18-holes and a span of 6045 metres, this course is full of variety: a first-class choice for golf lovers.

La Turbie in Nice is also home to an extraordinary golf club: Monte Carlo Golf Club . The course overlooks the Principality of Monaco, with mountains and sea surrounding the green. This 18-hole course is ideal for highly skilled players because of its rolling terrain.

Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands. Sailing through these waters is a breath-taking experience with magnificent views around every corner. Specifically, this island flaunts crystal clear waters, stunning sunsets and beautiful beaches.

Golf Son Gual is one of the many exquisite golf courses Mallorca has to offer. This par 72 golf course is one of the newest to the island and overlooks spectacular views of the Mediterranean coastline. Consequently, it’s no wonder Golf Son Gual ranks within the top 100 golf courses in Europe.

The Algarve, Portugal

Whether you’re looking for stunning beaches or challenging golf courses, the Algarve is bound to have just what you’re searching for. The Algarve is home to an astounding 31 golf courses.

Monte Rei Resort ranks within the top 20 golf courses in Europe and is the top course in Portugal! This is because of The Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, designed in 2007 by 18-time Major Champion Jack Nicklaus. This 18-hole course is tucked between the Atlantic coast and the Serra do Caldeirão mountains. It’s ideal for players of all abilities and with marvellous scenic views, what’s not to love?

The Caribbean:

Dorado beach, puerto rico.

Jam-packed with glorious mountains, waterfalls, beaches, and cities: Puerto Rico is a hub of culture and history and an all-around stunning destination.

Just outside San Juan, Dorado Beach Resort is the place to go if you’re looking for world-class golf courses. The East Course is a stunning coastal course surrounded by picturesque ocean views. What’s more, Golf Digest named this course the number one golf course in Puerto Rico in 2016, and it hosted the PGA Tour Latinoamerica Tour Championship in 2015. It is perfect for golfers of all abilities and a challenge for even the most highly skilled.

Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic

The Casa de Campo Resort in the Dominican Republic has three golf courses. The most famous is the Teeth of the Dog course, complete with ocean views and pristine fairways. Thus, it’s no wonder this course is ranked number one in the Caribbean.

The resort also boasts luxury facilities such as outstanding restaurants and bars, an equestrian centre, a marina and private beaches. Enjoyed by travellers and celebrities alike, this resort is the place to be for privacy and luxury.

Ocean Club, Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas:

Atlantis Paradise Island features the Ocean Club Golf Course : an 18-hole, par-72 championship course covering 7,100 yards. Its position on a peninsula means that crosswinds are likely, making this course a challenge for even the most experienced golfers. Some say it’s the most picturesque golf course in the Bahamas, with spectacular views all around and some holes positioned right next to the ocean.

As if that wasn’t enough, the tremendous list of facilities this resort has to offer is exceptional. The island features 11 swimming pools (including the Adult-only The Cove Pool), a nightclub, a theatre, restaurants, casinos, a spa, sports facilities, and even a library: you’ll never want to leave. Before he moved to California where he laid the foundation of many of that state's best courses from the pre-Depression era, William Watson was a pioneer of golf in Minnesota. He arranged the first nine holes at White Bear Yacht Club in 1912 near the shore of White Bear Lake on some of the most roly-poly land imaginable. Several years later, Donald Ross, it is believed, added nine holes and remodeled the course. That rumpled, unmodified land is the heart and soul of White Bear Yacht Club. Modern architects would likely have leveled and softened the slopes and ravines, but here they bring the golf to life visually and psychologically, offering nary a level stance and asking the player to hit approaches with extreme control. Over the last two decades under the guidance of Jim Urbina the surrounding canopy of forest has been pared back to better reveal the massive, enthralling undulations of the course.

100 Greatest: The course was part of Golf Digest's original 200 Toughest Courses list from 1967-'68.

Second 100 Greatest: Ranked 191st, 2017-'18.

Best in State: Ranked fourth, 2023-'24. Ranked fifth, 2011-'22. Ranked inside the top 5, 1991-2003. Ranked inside the top 10, 2005-'09. 2023-'24 ranking: 4th.

“Great layout, with a lot of Donald Ross influence throughout. You'll need to enjoy blind shots to like this course, but if you do, the abundance of undulation across the course makes this place standout."

“Amazing land movement hole to hole and w/in each shot throughout the round. Quirky in that one tees off over Dellwood Road twice on holes 5 & 12. Standout holes were the short par 3 third hole w/ the wooden bridge to the left and a large slope to the right feeding from right to left, the short par 5 ninth hole w/ the roller coaster of land movement from tee to green, and the short par 4 fourteenth that boomerangs from left to right."

“Delightful private club on a small site with considerable elevation changes. What I lacks in length is made up in variety, uniqueness/quirk, and challenging green complexes. Very soft when played, which is probably more often the rule than the exception (though reportedly, they do strive for firm conditions)"

THIS is a peek inside the "floating hotel" superyacht decked out with a Gladiator-style assault course that you can charter for $1 million a week.

Malia is the 255ft flashy floater that boasts dozens of opulent features including a fully-kitted out spa and beach club.

Inside the luxe spa is a glass-edged infinity pool, a glass-bottomed Jacuzzi, a sauna room and even a traditional Turkish Hammam.

Up to twelve can sleep in its eight luxurious cabins complete with dressing rooms and ensuites, and there's even a master VIP suite.

The main deck saloon features a bar and dining area illuminated by floor-to-ceiling windows - and there's even an outdoor cinema.

And when they don't fancy a massage, guests can get stuck into extreme sportfishing on Malia’s 46ft extreme sportfishing tender.

The upper deck lounge is fit for a king with its striking glass chandelier and extensive audio-visual system.

Its fun knows no bounds as guests can even find themselves in a Gladiator-style assault course with Malia's impressive water features.

The boat is equipped with an inflatable climbing frame, inflatable bouncer, inflatable walkway and even a water carpet.

Malia also features a snazzy lift to transport guests from lower accommodation deck to bridge deck.

The massive superyacht was sold for a hefty $120 million in 2023 and owned by US yacht dealers Northrop and Johnson.

Its millionaire guests get to venture everywhere from the Italian Riviera, to Monaco, Saint-Tropez and more.

Sacha Williams, global charter marketing director at Northrop & Johnson said: "The bedrooms are comparable to hotel rooms.

"You don’t feel like you’re on a yacht. It’s like you’re in a floating hotel.

"On a yacht this size, it’s increasingly popular to have a Hammam, steam room or sauna.

"Wellness is definitely a strong trend on all yachts now. The onboard spa therapist does all manner of treatments. You could spend an entire day in that space."

Crew aboard the gigantic vessel can also take guests up to six feet underwater in a shark-shaped submersible.

Malia holds plenty of sea toys including jet and water skis, paddleboards, kayaks and more.

This comes after Sun readers caught a glimpse into the apartments going on the "floating millionaire's row".

The invite-only luxury superyacht Somnio is lined with 39 apartments where rooms start from a whopping £8.1 million.

Apartments on the coveted ship will range in size from 1,959sqft to 10,365sqft, complete with private decks or terraces.

The ship will be a magnificent 728ft in length - making it both the largest and longest yacht in the world.

But that's not all - Eternal Spark is a real showpiece in the  world of vessels  and is often dubbed a "floating holiday resort".

Its lavish entertainment areas can now be rented out for a fun weekend - only if you can afford it.

Length: 67m Builder: Heesen

In June 2023, Sparta emerged from the shipyard and overthrew the 60.6-metre Lusine as the Dutch builder’s largest steel construction to date. Exterior and interior styling are by Winch Design , whose studio opted for a low exterior profile alongside a hull accented in “Venetian red” and metallic grey. Her elemental interiors include an earthy main saloon upholstered in real palm leaf and an airy master cabin with mother-of-pearl inlays, soft fabrics and hazy Tai Ping carpets.

Sparta is currently for sale with Arcon Yachts. 

Bad Company Support

Length: 53.3m Builder: Damen Yachting

Bad Company Support is the first unit in the Dutch shipyard’s new YS53 support vessel series, built for legendary sportfisherman Anthony Hsieh. As Hsieh’s largest yacht, she will be joining his expansive fleet offering game fishing expeditions and supporting marine conservation projects in some of the planet’s most unchartered waters. All of her design and naval architecture were completed entirely in-house by Damen Yachting. 

Bad Company Support is expected to be delivered later this month.

Highland Fling XVIII

Length: 24.7m Builder: Gunboat

Gunboat's flagship catamaran is expected to be one of the fastest in its size bracket, capable of exceeding true wind speed at just six knots. Highland Fling XVIII’s striking scarlet exterior is owed to French studio VPLP with interiors by Chedal Anglay Design – who plotted them with the help of virtual reality. She is currently undergoing sea trials in La Grande Motte, France, joined by her racing team who plan to put her performance to the test.

Highland Fling XVIII is expected to be delivered in August 2023, with her racing debut scheduled for the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo.

Length: 77.7m Builder: Golden Yachts

With a contemporary-style plumb bow and trapezium-shaped windows, O’Rea carves a more modern profile when compared to her predecessors O’Pari and O’Ptasia . Her distinctive exterior is courtesy of Stefano Vafiadis , with interior styling also handled by Vafiadis in collaboration with Italian studio Massari Design . More than 250 finishes are claimed to have been used throughout, including polished marble and precious stones. The yacht will be also home to a collection of contemporary artworks, curated by Vasilis Dragnis in collaboration with Anna Chatzinassiou.

O'Rea is expected to be delivered later this month and will make her global debut at the Monaco Yacht Show later this year.

Length: 35m Builder: Vanquish Yachts

Originally commissioned in 2020, this anticipated build launched in May and will be the largest member of the Vanquish fleet upon her delivery to the Hamptons. Manu is one of the fastest aluminium yachts on the water, delivering a top speed of over 40 knots thanks to a combination of three MTU Rolls Royce engines. Befitting her eye-watering speeds is a sporty, streamlined exterior designed by Guido de Groot .

Manu is expected to be delivered this month.

Danzante Bay

Length: 50m Builder: Crescent Custom Yachts

Danzante Bay is the largest superyacht to be built in Canada and marks the first new launch by Crescent Custom Yachts since Crescent Lady in February 2020. Commissioned by an American owner, she was named after his Mexican resort and golf course. The yacht is built from a composite hull bought from Christensen Yachts with exterior design owed to Gregory C. Marshall and interiors by British studio H2 Yacht Design .

Danzante Bay is expected to be delivered in August 2023.

Length: 59.4m Builder: Rossinavi

Akula is Italian shipyard Rossinavi’s first-ever explorer yacht. Ice-classified, her stand-out scarlet hull and white aluminium superstructure is designed by Gian Paolo Nari . Interior design is by Ancona-based FM Architettura , with the yacht’s layout optimised to support marine research and philanthropic projects. In particular, she can store various diving equipment and two six-metre containers that can act as transportable science labs.

Akula is expected to be delivered in September 2023.

Length: 33.5m Builder: Baltic Yachts

Named after an ancient Caribbean deity, this sloop-rigged sailing yacht was commissioned by a highly experienced family with around-the-world cruising in mind. Zemi was designed by Malcolm McKeon and features his trademark wrap-over teak decking, as well as multiple headsail options for various weather conditions. Interiors were completed by Andreas Martin-Löf in his yachting debut and feature warm walnut and limestone veneers bonded to lightweight honeycomb structures.

Zemi is expected to be delivered this month.

Length: 50m Builder: Columbus Yachts 

With exteriors and interiors created by Marco Casali of Too-Design, Anjelif ’s brass colouring is far from her only stand-out feature. She also boasts several technical innovations, such as a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and onboard sanitisation that incorporates cold plasma for the elimination of airborne viruses and bacteria. An impressive recreational highlight is the touch-and-go helipad on the bow, which can convert to an open-air cinema when not in use.

Anjelif is expected to be delivered in August 2023 and will debut at this year's Monaco Yacht Show .

Riva 82 Diva

Length: 25m Builder: Riva Yachts

This unit is the debut of Riva’s brand new flybridge series, which aims to “open a new chapter” for the Sarnico-based builder with its “revolutionary approach to the use of space”. Designed by Officina Italiana Design in conjunction with Ferretti Group , the Riva 82 Diva features one of the largest flybridges in its category at 40 square metres. Two large bulwarks fold out to create overwater terraces, expanding the yacht’s six-metre beam by an additional three metres.

The Riva 82 Diva is expected to be delivered in September 2023 and will attend the Cannes Yachting Festival that same month.

Carleton Golf and Yacht Club set to host 2024 Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship, presented by BDO 

Manotick, Ont. – The 156-player field will gather August 19-23 for the 2024 Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship at the Carleton Golf and Yacht Club in Manotick, Ont. 

The Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship is a 72-hole stroke play event, with a 36-hole cut to the low 70 players and ties happening after the second round. The championship also includes an inter-provincial team competition that will take place over the first two rounds of play. The lowest two scores out of three team members, over 36-holes will determine the winner of the Inter-Provincial Team Championship. The Mid-Amateur division will run concurrently with the Mid-Master division for players 40 and older. 145 Canadian competitors are joined in the field this week by 11 Americans —namely the 2023 runner up and third place finishers: Ryan Terry (Tennessee) and Derek Meinhart (Illinois).

The host club organizing committee has been working tirelessly to make sure his event is a success for players, family members, volunteers, and everyone involved,” said Golf Canada’s Tournament Director, Daniel Suppa. “We appreciate the support and look forward to hosting the elite group of golfers at one of the Ottawa regions premier golf courses.” 

Joseph Deraney of Belden, Miss. won the 2023 Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship, following rounds of 72-69-69-68 for a total score of 10-under (278), enroute to claiming the national title. Deraney will not be competing in Manotick. 

The field comprised of golfers aged 25-and-over, will navigate the scenic and challenging layout that winds its way through mature trees, lush fairways and picturesque water features. The Carleton Golf and Yacht Club is known for its past rich history, hosting various championships and national events including the PGA Seniors’ Championship.  

Established in 1963 by American entrepreneur Mort Kalin, who had a vision to build the first community in North America to integrate housing and golf, Carleton is situated in the centre of a dynamic community actively connected to the Club. Surrounded by houses and bordering the Rideau River, it originally featured a yacht club and is the only course in Ottawa accessible from the water. Dedicated members and a commitment to creating a superior golf experience has resulted in a premier course that offers many challenges. The Club prides itself on creating friendships and lasting memories through golf and social activities.

Charles Fitzsimmons of King, Ont. won the Canadian Mid-Amateur Championship back-to-back years in 2021 and 2022 and placed third at the 2019 championship. He returns this year hoping to etch his name on the national title for a third time. 

Previous winners of the championship include one of Canada’s top-ranked men amateur golfers, Garrett Rank of Elmira, Ont., who won the event three years in a row from 2014-2016; Graham Cooke who won it seven times between 1987 and 2002; and Stu Hamilton who won it on four separate occasions between 1990 and 1994. 

In addition to the Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur title, the 2024 champion will receive direct exemptions into the 2024 U.S Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship and 2025 Canadian Men’s Amateur & Mid-Amateur Championships.  

Practice rounds are scheduled for Monday, August 19, before the 72-hole stroke play competition kicks off on Tuesday, August 20. Play wraps up on Friday, August 23, followed by an awards ceremony.
