The RYA Yachtmaster Preparation week for “Yachtmaster Coastal” and “Yachtmaster Offshore” Certificates of Competence are gained by examinations conducted by RYA Yachtmaster

It is a requirement for overseas examinations and also good practice to ensure you have the opportunity to become familiar with the yacht. And also your crew is plus to get an understanding of the examination and cruising area. The cruising area in the adriatic is perfect for exams with excellent pilotage opportunities good sailing winds and the warm weather definitaly makes it more enjoyable.

Please note the Yachtmaster preperation course is not designed to be teaching you sailing skills for the first time.

The Aim of the course is to polish and improve sailing performance and skills. You should read the full details of the exam requirements plus read the entire scheme syllabus in the G158 log book, we recommend doing before booking the course.

During the course you will visit some some if the 1000 islands in Croatia that will include the islands of Brac, Solta, Hvar and Vis all weather dependent, but expect to have an enjoyable training holiday.

PREREQUISITES YACHT MASTER OFFSHORE

It is essential that you satisfy all pre-requisites of mileage. Also make sure your experience and completed courses have been fulfilled prior to booking this preparation week. Do you want to refresh your sailing techniques? during the Yachtmaster preparation week there is plenty of opportunity to brush up on some of the areas that may be covered during your exam.

– Exam fee for this level is currently £215 paid direct to the RYA on your exam form. – Minimum age: Candidates must be aged 18 or over. – Radio Operator’s Qualification: A SRC VHF Radio or higher grade of marine radio certificate. – First Aid: A valid First Aid certificate, only certain ones are accepted. – RYA Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Theory certificate within 2 years is strongly recommended. – Sea Time: All within the last nine years in a hands on capacity on sailing yachts between 9 and 24 meters – 50 days, periods of 24hours living aboard visiting different marinas.

AFTER COMPLETION

After achieving Yachtmaster you may wish to add a Commercial Endorsement and STCW Basic Safety Training STCW2010/95. Once added and endorsed it will give you a wider scope for employment opportunities around the world. You may wish to convert to power through a RYA Sail to Motor Conversion Course. Converting would then make you become dual qualified

Have you been dreaming of being your own captain for a long time? Then there’s only one thing left to say: cast off! Before you set course for independence and relaxation, however, there are a few basic points to check. So that you don’t have to face closed “seas”, we will clarify all the important questions about the Croatian coastal patent.

What do I need to know in order to be allowed to drive a boat in Croatia?

One thing right away: You can’t drive a boat in Croatia without a boat licence. In contrast to Germany, a licence is required for every motorised boat in Croatia. Even non-motorised boats over 2.5 metres in length are affected by this regulation – with the exception of rowing boats, paddle boats and surfboards. In addition, boat owners are obliged to buy a vignette for their boat at the respective harbour office.

How can I obtain a boat licence for Croatia?

It’s very simple: You only have to register for a course. The learning materials will then be made available to you digitally. With the help of these documents, you can prepare for the course from the comfort of your own home.

The Croatian coastal licence is an official licence issued by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Maritime Affairs and Transport. For this reason, an oral examination is held by the officials of the local port authority. A practical exam is not necessary. In our case, the exam is taken at the Vodice Port Authority.

Only a few days after successfully passing the exam, the boat licence is issued. As this is a theoretical exam, we recommend that you take a practical training course before your first trip.

What types of boat licences are valid in Croatia?

In addition to the Croatian boat licence, official boat licences from the holder’s home country are also valid. If you have any questions about the recognition of your coastal patent, we will be happy to help!

In general, it can be stated that holders of the Croatian coastal licence (Boat Skipper Category B) within the 12-mile zone are entitled to

• Passenger vessels up to three miles off the coast and islands,
• cargo or fishing boats,
• pleasure boats (of all types),
• yachts up to 30 GT and
• Charter yachts up to 30 GT without professional crew.

If there are islands off the coast, the twelve miles from the offshore island apply. The coastal patent does not apply to rivers and lakes. A separate patent must be obtained for these. Outside the 12-mile zone, a licence is no longer required, as these are international waters.

What categories of boat licence are there?

Category boat skipper – a.

A category A boat skipper’s licence can be obtained from the age of 15. Attending a course is not a prerequisite for obtaining the licence. Mastery of the basics of navigation is required, which includes:

• reading nautical charts,
• determining course and distance,
• collision avoidance rules at sea – practical demonstration with models,
• lights on ships,
• day signals, sound signals, danger signals,
• ropes and knots,
• meteorology and
• winds in the Adriatic.

CATEGORY BOAT SKIPPER – B

At the age of 16 you are entitled to take the category B boat skipper exam. After passing the examination, the master of a category B boat is entitled to operate a boat or yacht for own use up to 30 GT in the area of navigation IIa, III (without restrictions) and IV with his licence. Until the age of 18, the engine power is limited to 15 KW (20 hp), thereafter the engine power is no longer limited.

CATEGORY BOAT SKIPPER – C

The Category C Boat Skipper is the first degree of a professional skipper – captain for all seas of the world. The course comprises a total of 25 hours of lectures and exercises, plus the compulsory six hours of practical sailing instruction. After passing the exam, a Category C skipper is allowed to skipper boats and yachts up to 30 GT commercially, regardless of the sailing zone (worldwide) and the type of vessel.

CATEGORY YACHT MASTER A

To obtain a licence, a category A yacht master (up to 100 gross tonnes) must meet the following requirements:

• completed 18th year of age,
• successfully passed his school-leaving examination,
• at least 12 months sailing experience on a commercial or public vessel,
• three years’ experience as a category C boatmaster, and
• pass a special vision and hearing test.

CATEGORY YACHT MASTER B

To obtain a licence, a category B yacht master (up to 500 gross tonnes) must meet the following requirements:

• completed 25th year of age,
• at least a successfully passed school-leaving examination,
• two years sailing experience as a member of a navigation watch or
• 12 months sailing experience as a yacht commander up to 100 GT as well as
• have good eyesight and hearing.

Is the Croatian boat licence also valid in Germany?

The Croatian licence is not recognised for people who are resident in Germany. So if you are German and want to sail a boat in German waters, you need a German boat licence. Persons residing in Croatia are allowed to sail in German territorial waters for one year with the Croatian coastal patent within the framework of the host country regulation. After that, a German driving licence must be obtained and presented.

Can I drive a boat abroad with a Croatian coastal licence?

Yes, this is possible. Within the framework of the IMO (International Maritime Organisation), all countries bordering the Mediterranean have signed an agreement on the mutual recognition of boating licences.

Can I have my Croatian boat licence rewritten?

It is not possible to have the Croatian coastal licence transcribed into a German boat licence.

I lack practical experience, can I still drive a boat?

Kroatien – Yachtmaster A

Der Befähigungsnachweis „Yachtmaster A“ ist in Kroatien die Weiterentwicklung von „Boat Skipper C“. Dabei gilt:

Dieses gewerbliche Patent gilt allerdings nur für die Dauer von 5 Jahre. Die die Nutzung muss regelmäßig eine medizinische Untersuchung durchgeführt werden. Das Mindestalter ist 18.

Upon successful completion of the course the participants will be trained in handling and management:

Validity of the Certificate:

all boats can be operated as well as yachts up 18 meters (and for professional purposes) and are issued for a period of 5 (five) years. It is renewed with a valid certificate of healthworthiness by authorized physician.

Mit seiner atemberaubenden Küstenlinie und den zahlreichen Inseln bietet es perfekte Bedingungen für Wassersportaktivitäten. Wenn Sie planen, in Kroatien zu segeln oder ein Boot zu chartern, ist es wichtig, sich über das Küstenpatent Kroatien zu informieren. In diesem ausführlichen Blogbeitrag werden wir alles beleuchten, was Sie über das Küstenpatent in Kroatien wissen müssen.

Die verschiedenen Arten von Küstenpatenten in Kroatien

In Kroatien gibt es verschiedene Arten von Küstenpatenten, die je nach den Bootstypen und der Motorleistung variieren. Hier sind die wichtigsten Arten von Küstenpatenten:

Boat Skipper A : Dieses Patent berechtigt Sie zum Führen von Booten bis zu einer Länge von sieben Metern und einer Motorleistung von 8 kW (ca. 10 PS) in einem küstennahen Streifen, der bis zu sechs nautische Meilen von der Küste entfernt ist (Fahrtenbereich III). Das Mindestalter für dieses Patent beträgt 16 Jahre.

Boat Skipper B : Mit dem Boat Skipper B dürfen Sie Segelboote und Motorboote bis zu einer Größe von 30 BRZ führen. Es gibt keine Begrenzung für die Motorleistung. Dieses Patent eignet sich für Segelyachten, Motoryachten und Jetboote. Die Erlaubnis wird ab 16 Jahren erteilt (bei kommerzieller Nutzung ab 18 Jahren) und gilt für den Fahrtenbereich III.

Boat Skipper C : Das Boat Skipper C-Patent umfasst die kommerzielle Nutzung von Booten bis zu 30 BRZ, ohne Begrenzung der Motorleistung. Die Erlaubnis wird für fünf Jahre ausgestellt, und danach ist eine neue ärztliche Untersuchung erforderlich.

Yachtmaster A : Der Yachtmaster A ermöglicht das private und kommerzielle Führen von Segel- und Motorschiffen bis zu 100 bzw. 200 BRZ. Die Erlaubnis gilt für fünf Jahre, und für kommerzielle Aktivitäten ist eine neue amtsärztliche Untersuchung nach Ablauf erforderlich.

Jedes Küstenpatent richtet sich nach bestimmten Bootstypen, Größen und Fahrtenbereichen. Je nach Ihren Bedürfnissen und Plänen müssen Sie das richtige Patent auswählen.

Die Notwendigkeit von Küstenpatenten in Kroatien

In Kroatien besteht für alle Boote und Schiffe mit Motor eine Führerscheinpflicht. Extra payments:

• APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance): 30% of the charter price:  To cover the following costs, but not limited to: fuel for tender and water sports equipment; food and beverages for the Charter Party; berthing dues and other harbor charges including pilots ’fees, local taxes, divers’ fees, customs formalities, charges for waste disposal, charges for water and electricity taken from shore; shipping agents’ fees where applicable; Charter Party personal laundry; hire or purchase costs of any special equipment placed on board at the Charterer’s request, shoreside transport and excursions, national park entrances and other costs for services requested by Charter Party during the charter and all other costs not specified as included. A.P.A is paid by the Client in addition to the charter fee for all relevant costs for the vessel that are not included in the charter fee. If A.P.A does not cover complete costs, the Client will pay exceeding the amount on board in cash. If costs made on charter are less than the amount is given as A.P.A, the amount that was not spent will be returned to the Client at the end of the voyage. A.P.A does not include a tip for the crew.

Küstenpatent & Segelschein

Führen von Motoryachten und Segelyachten,

Beide berechtigungen sind im kroatischen küstenpatent "b" enthalten, der sonne entgegen, mit segelboot oder segelyacht.

Die kroatischen Küstenpatente bieten Ihnen die Möglichkeit Motorboote & Segelboote sowie Motoryachten & Segelyachten zu führen. Sie können entscheiden welche Bootsgrösse Sie führen möchten und ob Sie ein eigenes kleines Boot steuern wollen oder eine Yacht chartern wollen.

Bootsführerschein Boat Skipper A und Yachtführerschein Boat Skipper B

In Kroatien gibt es mehrere Klassen an Küstenpatenten. Für den nautischen Urlauber und Segler interessant sind vor der „Boat Skipper A“ und der „Boat Skipper B“. Boat Skipper A berechtigt zum Führen von Booten im küstennahen Bereich. Die Motorleistung ist auf 20 PS bzw. 15 kW beschränkt, die maximale Länge beträgt sieben Meter. Boat Skipper B hat keine Beschränkung der maximalen Motorleistung, die Fahrt ist auch nicht auf den küstennahen Bereich begrenzt und berechtigt zum Führen von Motor- & Segelyachten bis 30 BRZ / GT Vermessungsrauminhalt. Sie als Skipper können entscheiden, welche dieser Küstenpatente Ihren Bedürfnissen genügen.

Segelschein & Motorbootführerschein

Der Boat Skipper B bietet den Vorteil, dass er die Berechtigung zum Führen von Segelbooten und Motorbooten sowie Segelyachten und Motoryachten beinhaltet. Der Boat Skipper B ist ein Segelschein und einen Motorbootführerschein ! Sie als Skipper können nach dem Erwerb entscheiden ob Sie lieber segeln oder mit einem motorisierten Boot oder Yacht fahren wollen und haben so jede Freiheit für Ihren Urlaub auf See !

Vorbereitung auf die amtliche Prüfung zum Erwerb des Küstenpatents

Auf die amtliche Prüfung zum Erwerb des Küstenpatents bereiten Anbieter wie die MAG Seefahrtschule vor.
