Led by our base manager, Andreas and supported by a dedicated team including Vangelis , Konstantina , Zeta and Angelos , we strive to make every moment of your time in Greece exceptional. Together, our goal is to deliver an unforgettable sailing adventure, with a focus on exceptional service, support, and a carefree experience you'll treasure forever .

Sailing Itineraries from Lefkas

From our base in Lefkas one week charters typically head south towards Kefalonia and Zakynthos or north towards Corfu including mainland harbours like Syvota and Parga. Two week charters give time to cover more area or simply spend more time exploring the spots you are visiting. Below we present a sample one week itinerary of our favourite southern route.

The Southern Ionian Islands

Known for relatively mild winds during the summer, the Ionian Sea is a sailing playground ideal for smooth sailing and family vacation, featuring endless swimming and idyllic nights in isolated bays of unique beauty . Lefkas island itself is full of tranquil coves and bays which one could spend many day exploring!

To the south of Lefkas lies the island of Kefalonia, and a little further Zakynthos. Both are large, well-known touristic islands with a ton of fun things to do , beautiful places to visit, turquoise waters to dive in, and historic sites to visit . On the way from Lefkas to Kefalonia there are many smaller islands well worth a visit, including the amazing Ithaki and the smaller islands of Kalamos and Kastos of the mainland coast.

The Northern Ionian Islands

To the north of Lefkas lies Corfu (where we have our Corfu charter base ), the largest of the Ionian islands, and hands-down the most cosmopolitan of them all . Over the course of its long and distinguished history, Corfu, or Kerkyra, has experienced Italian, French and English rule, each leaving a very distinct imprint on the island and its inhabitants. A mixture of different civilizations and cultures blended together into an amalgam that is undoubtedly Greek in character, and yet truly unique from the rest of Greece.

Heading towards Corfu will usually take you through the mainland ports of northern Greece, including Syvota and Parga , and allowing you to explore the amazing islands of Paxoi and Antipaxoi along the way.

A One Week Sailing Itinerary from Lefkas Day 1: Lefkas to Meganissi (10-15 nautical miles, 2-3 hours sailing)

Today, we set sail from Lefkas marina, heading south through the canal that separates Lefkas island from the mainland. As we leave the canal, we see the rocky islet of Volios on our left and the castle of Agios Georgios on the mainland coast.

Consider stopping at the charming coves and beaches on the mainland coast (Aspros Gialos, Marathia, Varko beach) before continuing south. Alternatively, visit Skorpios , known for its green waters and rumored to be Jackie Kennedy's favorite island . Be aware of the thermal wind during midday hours and the Chiromytis reef near Skorpios, which requires careful navigation.

Our destination for the night is the picturesque Vathi on Meganissi island , with two docking options: the private Odyseas Marina or the small free harbor at the bottom of the bay. Depths here are suitable for various boat sizes. Enjoy traditional fish taverns, beach bars, and the natural beauty of the area. Other overnight options include Spilia , Atherinos , or Kapsali .

Day 2: Meganissi to Ithaca - Vathi (20 nautical miles, 3-4 hours sailing)

Start the day with a refreshing morning swim at Desimi Beach Bay , just 3nm west of Vathi. Next, visit the southern part of Meganisi and the famous Papanikoli Cave , named after a Greek World War II submarine. Be aware however that anchoring is not suitable in this area.

Be cautious of the thermal wind that occurs during midday hours and stronger winds near Vathi, as they arise from the central part of Ithaca island. Today's overnight destination is either Vathi , the capital of Ithaca island, or the picturesque Kioni . While Kioni offers a peaceful ambiance, beautiful beaches, and lush forest hikes, the cosmopolitan Vathi caters to those seeking more lively entertainment . Before reaching Ithaca, consider stopping at the islet of Atokos (One House Bay) for a swim.

In Vathi, there are stern or side mooring options on the southern and eastern sides of the harbor, with depths ranging from 2m to over 4m. Anchoring offshore in the bay is also possible, with depths at 10m and good holding potential, however be prepared for strong north-westerly afternoon winds. Other overnight stay options on Ithaca include Kioni , Frikes , or Pera Pigadi .

Day 3: Ithaca to Kefalonia – Agia Efimia (distances and times vary based on route)

Begin your day with a swim at one of the beaches of Gidaki , Filiatro , or Pera Pegadi if you sail southeast of Ithaca. Alternatively, sail to the northern side of the island and cross the Ithaca-Kefalonia strait to stop for a swim at Agios Nikolaos or Afales . According to legend, the Castle of Odysseus was located in Afales, and underwater findings at 15m depth now support this claim.

Be aware of the stronger thermal effect in the strait of Ithaca-Kefalonia, with wind and waves directed from north to south. Beam reach sailing is recommended for a comfortable cruise. Exercise caution near the rocky islet of Daskalio .

Tonight's overnight stay is at the harbor of Agia Efimia in the northern part of Sami Bay . The municipal port offers water and electricity for a fee. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the enchanting Melissani Lake , approximately 5km from your mooring point. If you're up for a hike, consider the 9.5km trail to the world-famous Myrtos beach .

In Agia Efimia, dock in the northern part of the harbor with sea depths over 3m or the eastern part with depths reaching 5m. Alternatively, anchor in the bay with depths at 4m but be cautious of the bathing area at the western part of the bay. Enjoy traditional taverns and cafes just a few meters from your boat.

Day 4: Skala and Agios Nikolaos (25 nautical miles, 5 hours sailing)

Today, sail to Zakynthos , the southernmost destination on your itinerary. This 25nm journey features the most spectacular landscapes and natural treasures of the Ionian Sea, including Shipwreck Bay and the Blue Caves . Along the way, visit Antisamos Beach for extreme water sports and Skala Beach at the southern coast of Kefalonia for unforgettable photo opportunities.

Be prepared for stronger winds in the southernmost part of Kefalonia and exercise caution around the Kakava shallows outside Skala. Maintain an offshore distance of about 2nm from the coast.

The tranquil harbor of Agios Nikolaos offers a pleasant overnight stay, with a mesmerizing natural landscape and modern entertainment options, including traditional taverns and cozy cafes. Before docking, visit the famous Blue Caves , just 1.5 nautical miles from the harbor, and plan for a morning visit to the Shipwreck as it's nearby.

Approach Agios Nikolaos harbor either from the northern or southern side of the rocky islet of Agios Nikolaos. Avoid the south side for anchorage as it serves fishing boats and ferries. Berth on the western side, where depths are about 2m. Ensure your anchor has enough span to secure your berth during strong ripples caused by the ferry's arrival.

Day 5: Zakynthos to Kefalonia - Poros (23 nautical miles, 4-5 hours sailing)

Start your day with a morning swim at the famous Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach , one of the most iconic beaches in the Ionian Sea. Visit early, as local daily cruises can become crowded after 10 am. Be prepared for the usual early afternoon swell, even without wind. The sea depth in the area is sufficient for safe navigation and anchorage in the middle of the bay .

Tonight's destination is Kefalonia , where you have various options in the eastern part of the island. A suggested stop is the port of Poros , located 23 nm from Shipwreck beach. Near the port, below the town's square, you'll find an organized sandy beach , traditional taverns, and bars for your entertainment.

When approaching Poros , watch out for wind spirals (gusts) from the north. Avoid berthing at the large dock, as it serves daily ferries connecting Kefalonia with Zakynthos and Kyllini. Instead, dock in the south-southwest side of the harbor, where depths are over 2m and the anchor grips well on the sandy seabed.

Day 6: Kefalonia to Lefkas - Sivota (25 nautical miles, 5 hours sailing)

Begin your return journey from Poros to Fiskardo , crossing the Ithaca-Kefalonia strait in the opposite direction (south to north). Morning hours offer the best weather conditions for sailing. Discover hidden gems for a morning swim along the way, and if you haven't already, visit Fiskardo for lunch. You can moor in Fiskardo harbor on the south and west sides, with depths over 2.5m and 3m, respectively. If all berths are occupied, stern to the rocks on the north side, where the depth is over 3m.

Sivota , a picturesque seaside village on the southern coast of Lefkas is an ideal destination for your last night. Each tavern in Sivota provides its own floating pier for free docking, water, and electricity. According to Dörpfeld's theory, Odysseus landed in Sivota on his way back to Ithaca. Mooring in Sivota requires a safe spot at one of the floating piers owned by local taverns, with assistance generously offered by the locals upon arrival. Alternatively, you can anchor in the middle of the bay where the seabed is over 4m deep.

Day 7: Back to Lefkas Marina

The last sailing day includes several popular and famous swimming spots on the western side of Lefkas island. Vassiliki Beach , in the southwestern part of the island, is known to be one of the best in the world for windsurfing. As you head further north, enjoy the waters at Porto Katsiki , Egremni , Megali Petra , and Agios Nikitas beaches, all top tourist destinations worldwide.

As you approach the town of Lefkas from the north side, you'll need to cross the floating bridge of the island. Be cautious and mindful of several important points during this process. First, ensure a safe passage outside Ammoglossa, where the size of the sandbar varies each year due to sand deposition. A green light indicates the entry point here. The floating bridge opens every hour , with priority given to incoming boats. There's a dock for side mooring while you wait for the bridge to open.

After crossing the canal, stay close to the starboard side between the green and red lights. First, on your right, you'll see the port and the town of Lefkas. Following that, Lefkas Marina appears at the end of the harbor and you have returned back to base .

Lefkas sailing holidays: popular questions answered., how much is it to charter a yacht in lefkas.

The cost of your yacht charter will depend on the type, age and size of the boat you choose, as well as the dates of your holiday. If you are in the market for a good deal, we would recommend looking at the beginning or end of the season (April, May and until mid- June & from mid – September onwards). Prices are highest during peak season from mid-June until mid- September. To calculate the total cost of your holiday, you will need to consider the obligatory extras too (i.e. end cleaning) which are payable on top of the boat price (usually on spot). Provisioning, mooring fees and fuel are not included. For more details and a tailored list of options for your Lefkas sailing holiday, please contact our experienced team of yacht charter consultants at [email protected]

Is Lefkas good for sailing?

Lefkas and the South Ionian islands are considered one of the top sailing destinations in the Mediterranean and are ideal for first time sailors, families and those looking for a laid back holiday. This region is known for easy line of sight navigation, short distances between the islands and generally very predictable and mild weather and wind conditions.

What is the best month to sail in Lefkas?

The south Ionian is lovely throughout the season, however, if you prefer to avoid the crowds and enjoy better charter rates too, we would recommend booking outside of the peak season. According to our yacht charter consultants, June and September are perfect for a sailing holiday in Lefkas as the weather is warm and sunny and the islands are in full “summer mode”.

What qualifications do you need to sail in Lefkas, Greece?

To charter bareboat from Lefkas you will need one person (the skipper) with a sailing license and a co-skipper with sailing experience. It is always wise to email a copy of your sailing license to your charter consultant in advance so they can double check that it is acceptable by the Greek authorities.

Is the sea in Lefkas warm?

You can expect warm sea temperatures when sailing from Lefkas as the water remains warm and pleasant even during spring and autumn. The average sea temperature in Lefkas is about 20 °C.

What sea is Lefkas in?

Lefkas or Lefkada is part of the Ionian islands located in the Ionian Sea in the west of Greece.

How long should a Lefkas sailing holiday be?

Sailing holidays in the South Ionian are offered on a weekly Saturday to Saturday basis; the minimum charter duration is 7 days. There are some exceptions during low season, however, you will need to discuss short term charter opportunities with our charter consultants as these are not customary.

Why visit Lefkas?

Lefkas is one of the most visited and highly rated Greek destinations and for good reason. You can expect charming villages, a fantastic experience exploring the vibrant and colorful Lefkas town, local delicacies and tasteful wines, turquoise waters and emerald bays. Another highlight is that you can also access this island by car, as it is connected to the mainland.

Which is the closest island to Lefkas?

The closest island to Lefkas is Meganisi, a small yet charming place, with a total size of 22 km² boasting over 30 km of coastline. Thanks to its proximity to Lefkas, it is an ideal first overnight stop for those wanting to leave Lefkas right after embarkation. Important to note that it does get a little crowded in the summer and we would recommend booking berths in advance.

How long does it take to sail from Lefkas to Corfu?

The distance between Lefkas and Corfu is about 70 NM and it will take you approximately 10 hours of non stop sailing to cover this leg, depending on the size of boat you have.

If you are interested in the beginning or end of the season, you may want to check with our experienced charter consultants about one way charter opportunities as sometimes yachts need to be relocated between bases.

Sailing Holidays in Lefkas

Lefkada, or Lefkas (in Greek: Λευκάδα), is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea, on the west coast of Greece, which connects with the mainland by a long causeway and floating bridge. The city of Lefkada, is situated in the northern part of the island, approximately 20 minutes, by automobile, away from Aktion National Airport. The Prefecture of Lefkada comprises Lefkada island, plus, the smaller nearby islands of Meganisi, Kalamos, Kastos, Madouri and Skorpios are of unparalleled beauty. It is the smallest prefecture of Greece in both land area and population (2001 census).

We suggest multiple alternatives regarding sailing around Lefkas island, and our yachts are definitely the best ones to “sail you around”, and guarantee unforgettable summer sailing holidays.

Lefkas (Italian: Santa Maura) is a hilly island marked by karstic action, lying off the Playia Peninsula in Acarnania, from which it is separated by a shallow lagoon varying in width between 600 m and 5 km. It is now linked with the mainland either by a causeway or a ferry. Most of the island is occupied by a range of hills, rising to a height of 1158 m in Mount Stavrotas, and running south-west to end at Cape Doukato. It was from this Leucadian Rock of gleaming white limestone, that Sappho was supposed to have thrown herself for love of the handsome Phaon. Lefkas never had any permanent natural connection with the mainland. The shingle spit at the northern tip was pierced in ancient times by the Corinthians to provide a channel for shipping, much like the spit to the south of Lefkas town, which came into being in the Middle Ages, as a result of the establishment of salt-pans. (Find Lefkas in Google Maps here )

Off the south-east coast of Lefkas, you will find the beautiful unspoilt island of Meganisi, with sandy beaches and famous sea-caves. It is ideal for yacht charters with family or friends, either bareboat or skippered. Westward to Lefkas, there are tiny islands like Skorpios and Madouri, and on the east side the well-equipped marinas of Vasiliki and Nydri provide safe anchorage protected from the occasional strong westerlies.

The must-see ports and anchorages include: Palairos, Mytika, Kastos, Port Leone, Episkopi, Papanikolis Cave, Vathi, Spartakhori, Menidion (Ambracian Gulf), Sivota, Vasiliki and Rouda Bay.

History of Lefkas

The earliest evidence of human settlement on the island dates back to the Neolithic period. In the 7th century BC, the town of Lefkas was founded by settlers from Corinth, who closed off the south end of the lagoon, opposite the St George Fort, by a 600 m long mole, remains of which are still visible under water (the sunken breakwater). They also cut a channel through the spit of shingle at the north end of the lagoon, opposite the Santa Maura Fort.

In the Middle Ages the island belonged to the barons of Kefallinia and Zakynthos. In 1479 it was taken by the Turks – the only Ionian Island to fall into their hands – but was recovered for the Venetians by Morosini in 1684.

As a result of the vicissitudes of its history and a series of earthquakes (the most recent in 1953) Lefkas has preserved very few old buildings.

Ports and Local Amenities in Lefkada

Preveza, Nidri and Lefkas port are the most important bases for bareboat yacht charters in the southern Ionian, as is Corfu and Gouvia in the north Ionian. The Lefkas canal enables sailors to sail, or moor, near the coastline of the east side of the island, which has 90% of the good anchorages.

If you are sailing from the north, the entrance can be found by locating the Santa Maura Fort. If you are looking south-west, you find the Santa Maura Fort and the north entrance to the canal, and in the distance, Lefkas town. The canal proper (dotted lines) starts after Lefkas Town and is marked by red and green poles, and by red and green buoys when the canal turns south. The ancient submerged breakwater is located opposite to St. George’ s Fort.

The entrance to Sivota Bay is sometimes a bit tricky. Once in, you can only anchor at the east side just around the cape, and only if you proceed through the dogleg, you can anchor anywhere in 3-8 m.There are also quays on the south and west sides of the bay where you can find tavernas and other local amenities.

The port of Vassiliki is located in the south-east of Lefkas, deep in the large bay of Vassiliki . The west side of this bay, close to the village of Pondi, comprises a nice anchorage (anchor in 4-8 m). The actual port is located in the east side of the bay and is very shallow. You will just have to stay close to the breakwater. Natural springs which run through a washing house at the south of Vassiliki, surely favour this part of the island.

The town of Spartakhori on the island of Meganisi, can easily be seen from the north and west. Once you are in the bay, the small harbour will be right in front of you. It represents a good shelter, though you will have to anchor in considerable depths (15-25 m). With northeast winds blowing at night, the anchorage near the tavernas is the best location in the bay. The village of Spartakhori is as enchanting, as enjoyable is the beautiful winding road leading there, and is also definitely worth the climb.

Nidri village, however, is more boisterous, just like the fair but crowded inlet across. Apart from July and August this inlet is a must-anchor, and you can use the sunken coaster there to tie an extra line. Even though the Nidri quay provides water, fuel, and any other supplies you may need, it places you in the middle of yacht charter bases, tripper boats, ferries etc.

The landlocked Vlikho Bay provides a good all-round shelter to anchor in a muddy bottom of just 8-2 meters. However, anchoring off the quay of the quiet Vlikho village can be uncomfortable in stronger daytime winds.

In Lefkas Town the houses have a rather unusual structure, however they are designed carefully in order to withstand earthquakes. Go stern-to or bows-to the town quay on the northe-west or south side, the muddy bottom is generally good holding.

On Modra Island, there is the villa of the family of Aristotelis Valaoritis (1824-79), greece’s national poet, a sight worth visiting, since you can also anchor in front of the baroque building.

The Skorpios Island is also private (owned by the Onassis family), but as long you don’t cross the high water mark you can anchor on both sides of the small sandy isthmus south of the island.

From Lefkas, it’s a difficult choice of whether to head to the North Ionian – with the Paxi islands and Corfu – or the Southern Ionian down to Kefalonia. For this itinerary, we’re going south, but if you want to read more about the North Ionian, check out the itinerary we have written for Corfu .

Lefkas - 6 day sailing itinerary

In total, this route clocks in at 106 nautical miles, which should mean that you have leisurely days of sailing – you should be able to get speeds of at least 5-6 knots on your yacht or catamaran, so it works out at about 3-4 hours of sailing a day, but longer if you find bays or beaches pop into for a swim, or find somewhere to throw down the anchor for a long lunch.

Kalamos

Leave via the South of the marina and follow the channel (and all the other boats) pretty much due South. If there’s a prevailing wind, it should be just behind you, so you’ll be running down the channel. A lot of the charter yachts will be heading to Meganissi on their first day, but we’re trying to avoid some of the traffic and get ahead of the game by doing the extra miles to Kalamos, heading East past Meganissi (have a quick look at Vathy on Meganissi as you go past, as that’s the final port of call on this itinerary), and then following the coast around to the small village of Kalamos on the South side of the next island.

Kalamos is a small village now, but this island has a bit of a crazy history – it was once a key Roman island, and they built a fort here to defend against marauding pirates. Later, despite being so small, it once housed over twenty thousand Greek refugees (mainly women and children) during the Greek revolution against the Ottomans in 1821, and people similarly sought refuge here in during the Siege of Messolonghi – or, at least, they did until the British, who ruled the island at that time, told them to go away (they promptly did, and many died as a result). You can still see odd ruined buildings scattered around the island as evidence of all of this, but it’s almost unimaginable - nowadays, Kalamos is a quiet island with a population of less than 500, who, until 1996, didn’t have running water or electricity! Enjoy the beautiful scenery, clear waters, and relax a while.

Vathi

Entering the port is a wonder to behold, with the whole town built up on the hillside and making a grand amphitheatre around the marina. Add some sunshine, and it really is a beautiful view. Vathi has a good selection of shops and tavernas, and the people here will make you feel very welcome.

Ithaki, or Ithaca as it is also known, is perhaps most famous for its prominent role in Homers classic book, the Odyssey. Ithaki was the home of the heroic Odysseus, who sailed back from Troy and encountered all manner of mythical beasts. In recent years, researchers have discovered a three-story palace from 800 BC on the island which some believe might have once belonged to Odysseus, though most scholars still believe that Homers epic work was fictional.

Sami

Sailing-wise, you’ll need to be on your toes today, as we’re going in pretty much every direction possible! After leaving Vathi, keep the coastline on your starboard side, and we’ll swing round onto the next island along. If you arrive early, the beach of Antisamos beach (the bay immediately prior to Sami) is one of the best in the whole of Greece.

Sami itself is a thriving market town, with plenty of character and, particularly during the summer season, a real holiday buzz and almost carnival atmosphere.

Sivota

Beating up through the prevailing wind, you’ll need to bear North-easterly, and Sivota is at the end of a bay on your port side. It’s a quiet village by day, but really livens up at night, when the yachts come in to port and when the landlubbing holidaymakers finally leave their all-inclusive resorts in search of somewhere more authentic.

Sivota is a beautiful place, with white limestone cliffs, sandy beaches, turquoise blue seas, white-washed houses and pine forests making it a serene and blissful place to spend the night – particularly after a few drinks in a local taverna (and some traditional Greek circle-dancing if you’re up for it).

Meganissi

From Sivota, we’re heading pretty much due East, where, if you’re interested, you can take a look at the cave of Papanikolis. This is the second largest cave in Europe (it’s massive – over 120m long). It was once a place where local sailors hid including their boats) from pirates, and during the second world war it was used as a hiding place by Greek submarines! From here, there’s a long or a short route to Meganissi, but since time is on our side, we’d recommend travelling around the South of the island, which is a little quieter and where there are more bays to explore, then beating North into the prevailing wind and tacking back round into Vathy, on the island of Meganissi (but yes, a similar name to the one on Ithaki).

Vathy is a quiet little fishing village nestled at the end of a bay, though it is fast becoming a popular tourist destination. There’s bars and tavernas splayed along the waterfront and it is almost the epitome of what a Greek sailing holiday is all about.

Lefkas

Sailing North back up the Lefkas channel, the same way you came down one week ago, you can reflect on the sights you’ve seen on this voyage, the friendships you’ve made or strengthened with your crewmates, and the expert sailing skills you’ve picked up along the way. This bit of sailing is also your last chance to get a team photo whilst at sea. When you arrive in Lefkas, you’ll need to head to the fuelling berth to refill the fuel tanks. There’ll likely be a big queue as basically every yacht in the area tries to refuel within the same three-hour period. Once you’ve refilled, take the boat back to where you got it from, and moor her up one last time. Well done. Job done.

Someone will come and inspect the yacht tonight, but you won’t need to leave the boat till Saturday morning. If you’ve not yet been into Lefkas, there’s plenty enough to keep you busy for the night, and it’s a great place to stroll around with an ice-cream. Alternatively, the pirate bar in the marina will be heaving with fellow sailors who you can exchange stories with.

Hopefully you'll have had a brilliant week. Sailing is super relaxing, so it's likely that you will've forgotten all your passwords for logging back onto your work computer. Wait, work. Ah. Can't you just live on a yacht all year long? Come back to us once you return to start planning your next adventure :)

Sailing Conditions

Greece Sailing - Wind Conditions

There are occasional days when the winds are either too light or too strong, but these tend to pass and the prevailing northerly winds return, driving southwards down the Greek coastline. The prevailing direction means that it should be quite straight forward for getting up and down the coast and sampling the delights and sights of the beautiful Ionian.

Winter sailing in the Ionian is another story, as there is no real prevailing wind, and you’re as likely to be blown around by brutal and cold winds from the mountains in the North as you are by whirling tropical storms which traverse the Mediterranean from tropical Africa.

Lefkas - Average Temperature

Lefkas Marina

Lefkas Marina is renowned as being one of the best marinas in the whole of the Mediterranean, space for over 620 yachts, excellent facilities, a swimming pool and a small supermarket. Nestled in the town of Lefkas, a picturesque Greek holiday resort popular with Northern Europeans, all the shops and facilities you could require are within easy reach – as are the beautiful Ionian islands, once you set sail.

If your flight options don’t allow you to fly in and out on a Saturday, you might need somewhere to stay for a night or two at the start or end of your holiday - we can recommend the following hotels in the area: Hotel Lefkas , or  Anesis village studios and apartments .

After you choose your preferences (yacht type, length, accommodation options, location & dates) we will, in turn, send you our very best offers!

This will include details about boat availability, the deposit and total cost, the technical characteristics and inventory of each yacht and a complete set of photos of each boat that we are suggesting for you!

If our offer suits your needs we can hold an option on the sailing boat you prefer for five days until you make a decision, without any constraints whatsoever!

The final booking of the yacht takes place when you send us the pre-agreed advance deposit.

After you have sent us the receipt of the bank transfer and the personal and crew details that we require, you will receive an official contract – charter party within 5 days which is already approved by the Hellenic Ministry of Merchant Marine.

For any extra costs that may occur or may be required by you in exchange for extra or optional yacht chartering services, you will be informed in our offer, and they will also be stated in the contact – charter party.

No other extra charges will arise during your charter .

Bareboat yacht chartering in Greece requires two experienced crew members. The first one (the skipper) should have an appropriate sailing certificate or hold an official offshore sailing license.

The second one (the co-skipper) should have some sailing experience. Official declarations stating the skipper’s competence and the co-skipper’s experience may be also required if the harbour authority considers this necessary.

If you don’t have enough sailing qualifications you can ask us to provide you with one of Ionion Sails experienced skippers .

From our first email offer you will be informed about the security deposit required before your embarkation and during the check in of your yacht.

The amount varies according to the size and the type of the yacht. The deposit ensures that you are responsible only for that amount of money for any loss or damage that may be caused during your charter.

Every yacht is insured against any damage that exceeds the deposit amount.

If all the terms of the Charter Party are met, your security deposit will be refunded back to you immediately after the end of your charter.

We accept VISA, MASTERCARD & DINERS. Personal checks cannot be accepted.

We also offer you the possibility to insure your deposit, with a non-refundable security deposit amount through our Insurance Partner Yachtpool .

Please do not hesitate to request more information about other types of guarantees.
