Cagliari Sailing Charter is a company based in Sardinia, the marvelous island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, renowned by all tourists for Costa Smeralda.

Three International airports guarantee connections with Italy, Europe and the rest of the world. Sun, bays, beaches, lovely people and really good food await the skippers and crews with our boats.

The whole island, from North to South, is greatly appreciated by sailing enthusiasts. Our 5 strategically located bases allow us to offer different one-ways from one base to another, you can see several suggestions in the Itineraries .

Most of our boats are property of Cagliari Sailing Charter , but some are under Yachting Management . The Management and staff share a deep passion for the sea, sailing and hospitality and we strive to do our best for guests.

At the moment we have monohull sailing boats by Bavaria Yachts and Dufour Yachts and catamarans by Nautitech, Bali and Lagoon, with the plan to improve our offer step by step, to satisfy your every desires.

Do try to spend the day here before flying home - you won't regret it!

14 days - Corsica and Sardinia: Your first day at sea will be a short hop east to Villasimius for a relaxing night before a long leg - 40 or so NM - to Olbia, the gaeway to the Emerald Coast. The party town of Porto Cervo will be your next night and day ashore, before heading north again to Maddalena Island for a break from the wild fun. Across the strait to Corsica and to the west coast port town of Propriano and then Ajaccio for another day ashore. South to the protected Sardinian island of Asinara - take a day ashore to enjoy this beautiful place. Alghero on the west coast of Sardinia will be your next evening ashore, and then take a night at anchor in the Gulf of Oristano and spend time ashore looking at the Stagno de Cabras, one of the largest saltwater lagoons in the region. Your 12th night will be in Carloforte, a fishing port on San Pietro Island, and then final night aboard before handover will be in Porto Pino, a stunning beach resort on the south coast.

The sailing season in Italy is from May to October. Outside of the high season in July/August you will find many marinas have enough room to meet demand and will often be cheaper than Greece or Croatia.

In some parts of Italy's sailing meccas the prices rocket in July/August and you may end up paying hundreds of Euros for the last available berth if you're lucky enough to get one!

As such the best times to sail in Italy are during school term in September or October when the sea is still warm but the marinas and towns relaxed and quiet. If you want Italy at full throttle in the maximum heat of summer the high season may well be for you!

The Climate

Much of the sailing season you will find sea breezes that build during the day and ease off at night, making for a perfect sailing holiday.

The hot, humid southerly Scirocco can make things extremely uncomfortable at night in southern Italy and around Sicily from time to time. Expect temperatures to hardly dip at night from the high 30s in the day. Orange hued fog (coloured by Sahara Desert sand) is another issue, adding to the discomfort!

In July and August however, many of the winds seem to take a rest for the year. You could end up motoring for much of your sailing holiday!

In den meisten Fahrgebieten ist außerdem ein Funkzeugnis erforderlich, für Charter üblicherweise das SRC (Short Range certificate) für UKW Funk. Wenn Sie nicht über den benötigten Führerschein bzw. die Lizenzen oder ausreichend Segelerfahrung verfügen, können Sie ganz einfach ein Boot mit Skipper über SamBoat buchen und ihren Urlaub ganz entspannt genießen.

Taking its place at the heart of the Bay of Angels (Golfo degli Angeli), Cagliari is the thriving historical capital of Sardinia and the most Italian of the island’s cities.

Often compared to Rome, Cagliari is drenched in historical and cultural riches spanning Carthaginian, Roman, Byzantine, Spanish and Italian eras. Built on seven hills, the city is made up of four colourful districts: Stampace, Castello (old town), the Marina and Villanova. Starting from the blue of the sea, the Cagliari’s golden and white-washed palazzi rise into the hills, intertwined with steep granite paved streets that beg to be explored as part of a Mediterranean yacht charter itinerary.

The Stampede district is the most modern area and its main street Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is full of cafes, tapas bars and food shops. It opens up into Piazza Yenne which buzzes with activity throughout the day as one of the main meeting points for locals and visitors.
