Daisy is frustrated after learning she’s a stew down while the deck team goofed off on the eFoils. Chef Ileisha’s perfectionism is thrown off when she faces her greatest fear in the galley and enlists Colin’s help. Gary claims his territory as First Mate both with the ladies and on deck as he sets his eyes on Mads knowing his deckhands are interested in the same girl."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 5: "Hate Me Tender" "Daisy is overwhelmed with the high-maintenance guests and struggles to ask for help, so a request from Gary sends her over the edge; when a guest injury occurs on the water toys, Capt. Glenn goes into high alert."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 6: "Clash & Burn" "In an effort to turn the charter around, Capt. Glenn takes the guests on an epic sail. Lucy makes a grave mistake to a charter guest’s garment. After Chef Ileisha continues to leave the guests waiting too long between courses, Capt. Glenn gives her honest feedback in the tip meeting that pushes Daisy's defensive buttons. Colin defends Capt. Glenn’s comments as feedback and not critique, which only heightens Daisy’s frustrations."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 7: "Smoke on the Water" "Another engine issue emerges, forcing Capt. Glenn to modify the plan and keep the returning guests entertained. With all the uncertainty going on in the engine room, Capt. Glenn takes control and points out the crews’ mistakes. Daisy and Colin make up after their fight as their relationship grows stronger. Daisy confronts Gary about Mads and claims he’s playing his usual games. Tired of the drama, Chase plans a night of drunk Twister and hosts a surprising yoga session. "

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 8: "Cheers to Boobies" "After Chase confides in Gary about Alex’s lackluster work ethic, Chase’s trust is broken when Gary tells Alex about their conversation. The crew pull off talent show #2 for the returning guests and surprise themselves with their interesting skills. Chase has a little too much to drink, and he upsets some of the crew, pushing Lucy to lose it and her chair at dinner. Daisy and Colin get closer than ever as they share an unexpected kiss."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 9: "Love Boat" "Glenn dresses up for the guests' theme night; he hopes his participation helps correct a jewelry theft hiccup and is on top of his crew to make sure the women have the best trip of their lives."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 10: "Loose Lips Sink Friendships" "The crew has the day off, and even Capt. Glenn recharges by enjoying Parsifal III all to himself and riding the eFoil; Colin saves the day clearing the clogged toilets, but he gets jammed up when his honest opinion strikes a chord."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 11: "Let Them Eat Cake" "Capt. Glenn notices the standards are slipping on Parsifal lll as the crew is exhausted with the mid-season blues. Distraught that Colin and Gary aren’t speaking, Daisy takes initiative and forces them to hash out their problems. Gary’s confusing behavior has Mads confessing her feelings to Alex. Colin tries to forgive Daisy’s discretions, but she adds insult to injury after she drunkenly confuses him for Gary. On charter, after anchoring in their first destination, Parsifal lll nearly drags into a neighboring boat."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 12: "T-Bone with Stakes" "Capt. Glenn notices the crew is slipping on service when a guest is injured, and interior doesn’t hear the walkie call forcing Capt. Glenn to up the guest maintenance standards onboard. After Alex and Mads confess their feelings from the start, Mads is torn between Alex and Gary. Shaken after a close T-Bone with a nearby boat, Gary is confused when his advances to Mads aren’t being reciprocated."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 13: "Hurricane Bonnie" "Captain Glenn reprimands the crew as recent slip-ups are directly affecting communication and morale; Daisy breaks down when she's proven wrong about the walkies not working; Chef Ileisha is determined to prove she can complete a 10-course dinner."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 14: "Boat Load of Throuples" "Capt. Glenn threatens to kick one of the 'throuple' charter guests off Parsifal during a drunken guest fight. Mads receives a wake-up call that prompts her to dismiss Gary’s apology attempt and more seriously consider Alex leaving Gary with a stomach full of regret. Unhappy with Gary, Alex and Colin decide to follow their hearts instead."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 15: "Man Buns Has it Been Fun": "Proud of his team’s accomplishments during the final sail, Capt. Glenn believes his tough love made them all stronger. The crew celebrates their final night out and Daisy and Colin try to soak up every moment of it. Following tearless goodbyes, Capt. Glenn and Gary stay onboard Parsifal to pick up another charter season."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 cast

Captain Glenn Shepherd returns to helm the Parsifal III. This is his fourth season on the series, but he's no stranger to the ship. He's been helming the Parsifal III for over a decade.

Captain Glenn will be joined once again by Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher, first mate Gary King and engineer Colin MacRae.

New to the series are chef Ileisha Dell, stews Lucy Edmunds and Mads Herrera and deckhands Chase Lemacks and Alex Propson.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 plot

Bravo offered this synopsis of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 and it gives you a good sense of what's coming in the new season:

"Capt. Glenn and his comeback team Daisy Kelliher, Gary King and Colin MacRae resume their responsibilities aboard Parsifal III, along with new, dynamic crew members, as they set sail in Sardinia, Italy. Capt. Glenn realizes that his laid-back leadership style has allowed his crew to become too comfortable and starts taking charge of quality control in the interior department, much to Daisy's dismay.

"In the galley, Chef Ileisha’s cooking impresses the guests, but her indecisiveness and co-dependency lead to time-management issues between courses, which causes her to self-destruct. On deck, strong personalities collide, and a power struggle results in a near mutiny, as Gary clashes with his new overconfident deckhand, Chase.

"Two overlapping love triangles further complicate the dynamics on-board, and a shocking hookup puts Colin, Daisy and Gary’s friendship in jeopardy. With a near collision, fire, crew rebellion, gruesome guest injury and two different potentially season-ending engine failures, this is the most captivating and unpredictable season yet of Below Deck Sailing Yacht ."

'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' 's Gary Accuses Daisy of 'Spitefully Hooking Up' with Newly Single Colin in Season 4

"Everything is my fault. The guests aren't happy, it's my fault. I can't win. I'm constantly losing," Daisy Kelliher says in PEOPLE's exclusive trailer premiere for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4

below deck sailing yacht preview

Below Deck Sailing Yacht 's Daisy Kelliher and Colin MacRae are making waves in season 4!

PEOPLE can exclusively premiere the trailer for the Bravo show 's latest season as Parsifal III 's Chief Stew and Chief Engineer return to navigate the waters near Sardinia, Italy, alongside Captain Glenn Shephard, First Mate Gary King and fresh batch of yachties.

"I've been with Parsifal for 13 years," Captain Glenn says at the start of the preview. "She had a lot of problems, but she's never let me down."

That is, until the yacht starts heeling — hard .

Sailing Yacht has been known for clanging pots and sliding utensils in its galley over the years, but season 4's tilt-fest takes things to a new level, with falling crew members, portholes that look like they're in a whirlpool swirl and one guest exclaiming, "Who needs a roller coaster? Holy cow!"

Still, Captain Glenn remains optimistic: "It looks like we got a good group of people here. I'm looking forward to a really good season."

Beyond the technical troubles (including a dud engine echoing season 2's bow thruster debacle ), it would seem the choppier waters will come in the form of the crew's personal entanglements and partying ways.

Like every year, Gary returns with a renewed promise to stay out of the drama and drunken carousing. "My intention is not to come in and hook up with a chick," he says. "I'm here to make money and have a good time and give guests good experiences."

But as sure as the tides ebb and flow, Gary — whose last season saw him hooking up with every available woman on the crew, including one surprisingly steamy hot tub makeout session with Daisy — is soon enough taking shots and preserving his reputation as Parsifal 's resident kissing bandit.

The carousing spirit is shared by many on on board, with new deckhand Alex Propson proclaiming this will be his "hot boy European summer," and steward Madison "Mads" Herrera saying, "I wouldn't be opposed to screwing the crew provided they know how to screw."

Most unexpectedly, though, Gary's longtime wingman Colin is finally stretching his own wings this season in his first filmed charter season without a girlfriend back on land.

"Who do you have your eye on, Colin? You're a single man," Gary asks innocently before the trailer cuts a sizzling shot of the Daisy and Colin kissing on one of the boat's staircases, then later in a crew bunk (hot tubs are so 2022).

As Colin and Daisy grow closer than ever, Gary becomes jealous and seems to miss the chase of being in a will-they-won't-they relationship with Daisy.

Though he assures Colin he likes Daisy "as a friend," he doesn't miss the opportunity to pour cold water on her connection with Colin.

"You know you like me deep down," he says, "and I feel you're hooking up to get back at me — spitefully hooking up."

As the drama and pressure escalate, Daisy says through tears: "Everything is my fault. The guests aren't happy, it's my fault. I can't win. I'm constantly losing."

She'd said earlier in the trailer that she needed to "to work on my stress levels," but it doesn't seem like that's on the horizon for this Sailing Yacht .

The  Below Deck Sailing Yacht   cast is reuniting (virtually) to dish on the tumultuous latest season with Andy Cohen on  Watch What Happens Live .

Bravo announced the two-part reunion kicks off Monday, July 17 at 9:08 p.m. ET/PT following the season 2 premiere of  Below Deck Down Under . Part 2 of the reunion airs the following day on Tuesday, July 18 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

In a minute-long promo, the reunion promises "shocking new revelations," and explores the messy love triangle between chief stewardess Daisy Kelliher, chief engineer Colin MacRae and first mate Gary King continues to be front and center.

At one point in the teaser, Colin appears to make Daisy cry when he addresses their relationship, calling it "toxic." "You can't reason with this woman," he says.

Earlier, Daisy maintained that she is able to "take criticism," but Cohen had a difficult time believing it, questioning her statement by asking, "Really?"

The two-part reunion also promises clear up what was going on with Gary and 3rd stewardess Mads Herrera's relationship amid his continued flirtation with Daisy.

"It was strange," Gary said in the teaser, likely in reference to the 3rd stewardess. "Because she would come and climb into my bed every night and try to have sex with me."

Plus, Colin hints there's information "nobody knows" -- not even the audience. What could it be? Watch the reunion teaser below.

Also taking part in the reunion are Captain Glenn Shephard, chef Ileisha Dell, 2nd stewardess Lucy Edmunds, deckhand Chase Lemacks and deckhand Alex Propson.

Ahead of season 4, ET spoke with Daisy about Gary's jealousy. "He had two seasons to try and pursue me, he chose not to," she said in April. "If I'm dating you for three years and you cheat on me, yeah, I’m gonna go sleep with your best friend or your brother, probably. Like, I've done it in the past, I'm probably gonna do it again. But me and Gary were never anything, you know? I'm not quite sure what he thought that I was trying to gain from that. We were never in a relationship."

"I felt like there was a bit of an ego, you know? His ego was hurt," Daisy added. "I think that was more of it than he actually wanted to be with me. But yeah, it was kind of surprising to hear. It was weird when I was like, 'You had two years to tell me you liked me, and now you're choosing to tell me?'"

Chaos Ensues in the Trailer for Season 3 of 'Below Deck: Sailing Yacht'

Pretty Honore - Author

Published Feb. 10 2022, 10:38 p.m. ET

Working on a yacht is pretty much the same thing as partying on one — well, at least that’s true for the crew responsible for operating the Parsifal III on Below Deck: Sailing Yacht .

The Below Deck spinoff first aired in 2020. Now, two years later, the cast is back for the third installment of the series, and a newly released trailer gives an idea of what’s to come. Here’s what we learned from the preview for Season 3 of Below Deck: Sailing Yacht .

Bravo's preview for Season 3 of ‘Below Deck: Sailing Yacht’ teases a lot of drama.

Bravo's trailer for Season 3 of Bravo’s Below Deck: Sailing Yacht features a mix of fresh and familiar faces who are setting sail on a small screen near you much sooner than you think.

The teaser for the upcoming season hints that drama is afoot onboard the Parsifal, and it’s no surprise that Gary King is at the epicenter. Caught up in a nautical love triangle, the First Officer may have a lot of explaining to do after the show's premiere.

Daisy Kelliher

“I was the cause of a lot of drama last season,” Gary admits in the trailer. “[But] I’m not gonna have sex with the first chick that throws herself at me. Gary’s new leaf has been turned, girl!”

But has it? The trailer shows Gary making out with new steward Ashley Marti, then seconds later getting hot and heavy with ( now rumored girlfriend ) Daisy Kelliher.

But that isn’t the only chaos that ensues in Season 3. Among several disasters that come to pass this season are actual natural disasters that threaten the safety of the yacht’s passengers. Below Deck newcomer Gabriela Barragan says in the trailer, “The thing about yachting that makes it difficult is not the guests. Not living on a boat. It’s the f--king elements.”

At one point in the trailer, things get so tumultuous on the water that the boat is at risk of dragging anchor and running aground. Captain Glenn Shepard suggests that they could “lose the boat” in the midst of the extreme weather conditions. “It’s about as serious as it gets,” he says.

Though filming for Season 3 was by no means a walk in the park for the cast of Below Deck , they still managed to find the time to blow off some steam by way of body shots, making out, and binge drinking.

Who’s in Season 3 of ‘Below Deck: Sailing Yacht’? Meet the new cast members.

Joining the cast of Below Deck: Sailing Yacht in Menorca, Spain are stewards Gabriela Barragan and Ashley Marti, deckhands Kelsie Goglia and Tom Pearson, and Marcos Spaziani, a veteran chef from Venezuela.

Along with Captain Glenn, series regulars Gary King, Colin MacRae, and Daisy Kelliher will also return for the Season 3 premiere.

When does Season 3 of ‘Below Deck: Sailing Yacht’ come on?

Season 3 of Below Deck: Sailing Yacht is set to premiere on Bravo Monday, Feb. 21. The extended season premiere will run from 8:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. EST.

Hungry Captain Glenn Is Such a Mood in This Tense Below Deck Sailing Yacht Preview

In this exclusive clip from the may 31 episode of below deck sailing yacht , captain glenn finds himself frustrated as the crew meal is late..

An unhappy captain.

In this exclusive clip from tonight's May 31 episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht , Captain Glenn Shephard finds himself frustrated with chef Natasha De Bourg as she's late with dinner for both the crew and guests. "Is there some dinner for crew?" the captain asks as the meal is an hour late.

"Not yet," Natasha responds. "We were sailing."

Obviously ready for dinner, Captain Glenn asks Natasha to share her plan for the crew meal. As the captain lingers about the galley, Natasha assures her boss that she's working on pasta for the team.

"I'm so f--ked right now," Natasha notes in a confessional. "I'm just going to jump in the ocean and f--king sink myself. Ahh!"

As chief engineer  Colin MacRae  checks in on the yacht's chef, Natasha asks if anyone complained to Glenn about the lack of dinner. He says, "Not that I know of. Did Glenn talk to you?"

"He must be hungry," she comments. "I was like, 'There's no way I can cook when we're tilting like that.'"

To make matters worse, the charter guests begin to complain about being "so hungry." One guest even comments, "I need to eat! I'm bigger than you." So, it's safe to say the pressure is on for Natasha.

When the guests begin to make their way to the dinner table, chief stewardess Daisy Kelliher  heads to the kitchen to alert Natasha. The spread thin chef responds, "I'm not ready yet, Daisy."

Surprisingly, this inspires a dissatisfied sigh from Captain Glenn. "The galley really seems to be falling apart this charter," he tells the Below Deck Sailing Yacht camera. "And now I have hungry crew and hungry guests. It's a f--king nightmare."

Still, we can't say Natasha isn't doing her best. In fact, she moves quickly to reprimand Colin as he goofs around in the galley.

Meanwhile, above deck, the tension among the charter guests is getting worse. After co-primary guest Erica rudely dismisses gal pal Bianca  while setting up for dinner, Daisy calls the interaction "hard to watch."

It probably doesn't help that the women are hungry with dinner being 40 minutes late.

As things remain tense upstairs, Natasha finds an ally down below in Colin, who helps finish off the pasta dish. "Did you make this, dude?" the captain asks.

Being a true friend, Colin assures Captain Glenn that he just helped finish the dish. While making himself a plate, the captain concludes, "God, finally."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht  airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.

‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Preview: Ashley Tells Daisy She’d ‘Never Say Anything Bad’ About Her

As the drinks continue to flow and the food is served, the tensions begin to rise amongst the crew in this EXCLUSIVE preview of the all-new 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht.'

Below Deck Sailing Yacht

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew takes a break from work to have a sit-down dinner in this EXCLUSIVE preview of the April 11 episode. As they wait for their food, Marcos takes the opportunity to tell the crew that they’ve “put the bar very high. Now it’s going to be a difficult job to maintain it.”

Kelsie responds, “I feel like we just need to vibe so hard that the guests have no option than to vibe as hard as us.” Marcos begins speaking again, and Gaby quips, “Back to me, Marcos.”

Gaby keeps trying to interrupt while Marcos is talking. Gary gives her a little nudge to stop, and she nudges him right back. Marcos ends things by saying this is going to be the “best season ever.” They all agree on that.

The arrival of the food diffuses any tension there was at the table, but it doesn’t last long. “ Daisy , are you still pissed off at me?” Gary asks.

Ashley tells Daisy, “I would never say anything bad about you.” Daisy thanks Ashley for that. Ashley adds, “Because I have nothing bad to say.” Daisy asks Gary if she can go and have a cigarette with him. Gary tries to keep things light, but Daisy says she won’t laugh at him until he apologizes.

Daisy

Daisy and Gary have a history together. Couple that with Gary recently flirting with Ashley, and the Daisy-Gary relationship is complicated, to say the least. After their steamy hot tub kiss, many fans have wondered if these two are together together. Daisy and Gary set the record straight during a recent visit to Watch What Happens Live .

Although Gary admits that he has had a “crush” on Daisy for a while, they’re just friends at the moment. “No, we’re not dating,” Daisy said on WWHL . Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on Bravo.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season-Premiere Recap: Dream Team

Below deck sailing yacht.

below deck sailing yacht preview

After decent seasons of  Below Deck ,  Mediterranean , and  Adventure , I’m beyond elated to have the superior  BD  spinoff,  Sailing Yacht , back in my life. In a sea of constantly fluctuating casts in the  BD  universe,  Sailing Yacht  has been a delightful constant, featuring what has become my absolute favorite group of wild yachties. The core four (Captain Glenn, chief stew Daisy, first mate Gary, and engineer Colin) have all returned for another season aboard the beloved  Parsifal III  as they sail around Sardinia, Italy. Colin puts it best: “ Parsifal  is always so entertaining. Get the popcorn out again!”

Speaking of the hottest man on the ship, Colin announces in a confessional that he is a “free man” with “nothing tying him down” anymore. After spending most of his time on the series in a relationship, Colin is now single. He seems eager to finally get a taste of the drama he has largely kept a distance from, and I’m incredibly excited to see how it’ll play out. Meanwhile, Daisy contemplates her life and tells us that she expected to be married with two kids at this point but is instead “still serving a bunch of assholes.” She’s in her Hannah Ferrier era! Regardless, she’s still looking forward to being back on  Parsifal . “I hope to bring the same motto I bring every season: My way is best,” she says with a smile. Oh, how I’ve missed her!

Before diving into this premiere’s events, let’s discuss the fresh faces rounding out the team. In the interior, Lucy says she is a very “unlucky” and “clumsy” person, as seen in a montage of various times she accidentally hurts herself on the boat. Daisy’s other stew is Madison, who confesses that she “wouldn’t be opposed to screwing the crew” and doesn’t have “high standards,” meaning there’s a 110 percent chance of her hooking up with Gary. Mads also tells us that despite people assuming she’s a bitch based on her looks (blonde), she’s actually a “ray of fucking sunshine.” Her delivery of this, plus her later comment about how it’s fine to be mean as long as it comes across as a joke, fails to convince me.

On deck, we have Chase, who hails from South Carolina and describes himself as being “extra,” which I’m hoping isn’t code for being a dick. The season teaser shows some tension between him and Gary, so I feel he might not make it to the end. But I hope my assumptions are proven wrong. There’s also deckhand Alex, who captains a boat in Miami, is very hot (bless Bravo for including a slideshow of additional photographic evidence), and says he is “socially charged” and “empathetic.”

Finding and being able to hold onto a fantastic chef has been a tough task to accomplish throughout  BD ’s history. After last season’s phenomenal chef Marcos, it has some massive shoes to fill. So far, Australian chef Ileisha, a self-described “perfectionist” with 16 years of experience, has impressed in the galley. Overall, I really like this ensemble so far. They seem to know what they’re doing and haven’t pissed anyone off yet, which might be a  Below Deck  first.

As the crew settles in, Captain Glenn reveals that COVID-19 continues to strike as Gary has tested positive and will tragically end up missing the charter. In the meantime, Colin is tasked with filling in as chief officer to help Alex and Chase get acquainted with the  Parsifal . In order to spare herself from repeating last year’s drama, Daisy informs Lucy and Mads that it’s best if they’re both Junior stews. It’s a fantastic idea, but I’m hoping for some stew drama anyway.

As provisions come in and the crew gets the boat prepped for charter, Colin notices something wrong with the engine because it would be  too easy  for things to go smoothly for once. The first charter sets the tone for the season, and it has already gone sideways merely hours into the first day. Despite their best efforts, Captain Glenn and Colin determine that the boat won’t be able to leave the dock, so the pressure falls onto Daisy and the interior to give the guests an experience that isn’t entirely shitty. And to make matters worse, the next day, Colin discovers a malfunction in the aftercooler that caused water to enter the engine.

At the preference sheet meeting, we meet our first guests: The primary is Stephanie Seutter, a Texan working in sales who is having a girl’s trip with seven of her friends. Given the myriad of problems the crew already has to deal with, I’m glad they don’t also have to deal with a lengthy list of restrictions and demands. They ask for a local Sardinian dinner followed by an EDM party for the first night. On the second day, they want to spend time on the beach and have a steak and seafood dinner with truffles on everything, which rightfully gets a disgusted reaction from Daisy.

Daisy is already impressed with her stews for taking the initiative, and I am too. They know how to get shit done, so here’s hoping they don’t start slacking. “Confident stews, my dream has come true!” she exclaims. After everyone finishes working, they gather on deck to drink beer and rest up. Chase asks if anyone is missing someone from home, to which Daisy responds, “I haven’t missed someone since 1999.” The discussion naturally leads to relationship statuses, where we learn that everyone is single — a win for us because it means chaos will ensue — save for Ileisha, who recently rekindled her romance with an ex-boyfriend from four years prior. Before heading to bed, the boys check in on Colin in the engine room to help out. Dudes rock!

In the crew mess the next morning, Daisy mentions how Gary usually got his coffee, and Ileisha teases her by saying, “you miss him!” Daisy thinks it feels weird for him not to be there, and I agree. Gary’s absence has caused a vibe shift on the boat. Thirty minutes before the charter, the crew changes into their uniforms and prepares to head out on deck for greetings. As the guests strut down the dock, Ileisha is still getting ready in her cabin as Daisy rushes down to inform her to hurry. This sequence had me stressed!! Earlier, the two had a chat about the importance of communication and teamwork, so I hope her poor time management isn’t an issue.

Since the guests are stuck at the dock, Daisy plans to “keep their glasses topped up, their stomachs full, and their memories short.” Words to live by! After welcoming Stephanie & Co., Captain Glenn breaks the bad news but tries to soften the blow by assuring them that other activities are available. They handle it well — it’s not like they have a choice — but their annoyance grows more apparent as they get settled on the boat and enjoy espresso martinis and Ileisha’s mac-and-cheese truffle arancini balls and rib-eye with horseradish-cream canapés.

Captain Glenn suggests that the guests go out on the tender, and they agree because it’s really the only thing to do. Daisy recommends that Alex accompany them because he’s “hot and the guests will love that eye candy.” So true, Daisy. Alex is excited since “day charters with drunk guests is [his] specialty,” adding that his approach is to pump them “full of Tito’s.” Keeping the drinks flowing does the job because they’re already hammered by the time they make it onto the tender. Their afternoon playing around on the water toys and getting drunk is a success. I initially assumed that the guests would be high-maintenance, but so far, they’ve been quite fun and low-key.

After the crew changes into their blacks for the evening, Alex, Chase, and Lucy decorate the flybridge with balloons and glow sticks for what Lucy calls a “tacky” EDM party. True, but there are far worse themes they could have requested. Chase says the half-assed decor “looks like a seven-year-old’s birthday party,” which I imagine would look significantly better. Nothing about this set-up screams EDM, but the guests have fun, and I suppose that’s what matters most.

For dinner, Ileisha presents a family-style feast of fresh local oysters, shrimp, and lobster ravioli with truffle, asparagus with Parmesan, and beef filet with roasted garlic purée. The guests think the food is a “home run,” and they’re so wasted that one guest named Mary Lynn falls out of her chair twice. After the guests change into their party attire and the crew puts on paint and face jewels, they make their way up to the party, where Chase gives one guest a lap dance and Mary Lynn paints Alex’s knee to prove to her sister that she is artistic. Anything for the tip, right?

As if they hadn’t just spent the previous day drinking nonstop, the guests are up early the next morning asking Daisy for some mimosas. “I just need an IV of Champagne,” a guest named Karen says. Meanwhile, Colin has spent the entire charter stuck in the engine room, and because the problems have escalated beyond his ability to fix them alone, Captain Glenn brings in more engineers to check it out.

The episode ends with the reveal that it will take a whopping 15 days to fix the engine, but as Captain Glenn says at the start of the episode,  Parsifal  “has never let me down.” The season preview promises us several guest injuries, lots of crew makeout sessions, another intense engine issue, and — most importantly — a Daisy/Gary/Colin love triangle. Based on the hype the producers are putting on this dynamic, I have severely high expectations.

‘Below Deck’ Sailing Yacht Shares Chilling Link To Sunken Morgan Stanley Billionaire’s Boat ‘Bayesian’

The plot thickens...

‘Below Deck’ Sailing Yacht Shares Chilling Link To Sunken Morgan Stanley Billionaire’s Boat ‘Bayesian’

Much has been made of the tragic events that unfolded earlier this week off the Sicilian coast, with the Morgan Stanley international chairman initially missing before being found dead alongside tech founder Mike Lynch. Adding more intrigue to the tale, a strange link between the sunk Bayesian yacht and hit show Below Deck has been uncovered…

The Italian shipyard Perini Navi, which built the PARSIFAL III — the yacht featured in the popular reality show Below Deck that rammed a pier due to an engine malfunction — is also the maker of the Bayesian , which tragically sank on August 19.

PARSIFAL III Misadventure

Below Deck is an American reality TV series that made its debut in 2013 on Bravo TV . The show, to date, is running on season 11, with a new cast of crews on every luxury superyacht during its chartering season. Their challenges while catering to wealthy guests are depicted on the show. The PARSIFAL III , a 177-foot yacht, suffered a big mishap during an episode of the show’s second Sailing Yacht season which first aired on May 17, 2021.

While trying to maneuver in bad weather, the yacht hit a dock because its engine broke down. In an explanation, Yacht’s Captain Glenn Shephard said:

“I was using a different maneuver mode. And there’s a computer in between the throttles and the propeller that adjusts the load on the engine. Maybe my inputs were too much for the computer and it kind of, I don’t know, froze or didn’t react in the right way. I’m not really 100 percent sure. But I was pushing ahead and it was still moving backwards, which is not normal.”

Some of the wreckage was visible floating in the sea after the accident. Luckily, no serious damage was caused in this crash. Launched in 2005, PARSIFAL III can accommodate up to 12 charter guests in a master suite, two double cabins, and two twin cabins. The yacht also has a Jacuzzi and two Open Bic sailboats for guests to play with.

Not So Lucky

The Bayesian , also created by Perini Navi, was not as lucky. Sailing in a sudden and strong squall that created too much wind and conditions for the yacht to handle, the vessel sank after its mast broke in half off the coast of Sicily near the fishing village of Porticello   in the early hours of Monday.

Of the 22 people on board at the time of the tragedy, 15 were rescued, while six others lost their lives, among them being the chairman of Morgan Stanley International, Jonathan Bloomer, and tech tycoon Mike Lynch.

His daughter Hannah Lynch, 18, is still missing, and rescuers are frantically searching for her. Lynch was a British technology entrepreneur who achieved fame through his software company, Autonomy Corporation, which Hewlett-Packard bought for over $11 billion USD in 2011.

‘Below Deck’ Accused of Covering Up Gary King’s Sexual Misconduct

By Krystie Lee Yandoli

Krystie Lee Yandoli

Bravo ’s Below Deck was recently lauded for its handling of sexual misconduct when a producer on Below Deck Down Under broke the “fourth wall” and intervened when one cast member, Luke Jones, tried to get into bed naked with another cast member, Margot Sisson, without her consent while she was inebriated and passed out. Not only was Luke fired from the show, but their fellow cast member and stewardess, Laura Bileskalne, was also let go because of victim-blaming comments she made to Margot about the incident and her own line-crossing pursuit of deckhand Adam Kodra.

While viewers and fans of the show applauded the pivotal on-screen moment, production crew members who have worked on the popular, Emmy-nominated franchise say they’ve experienced and witnessed sexual harassment and misconduct from other cast members behind the scenes without seeing any real accountability.

Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, inside sammy davis jr.'s secret satanic past .

Suarez says she met King for the first time when the cast and crew arrived in Sardinia in preparation to film the fourth season. Crew members stayed in the same hotel, the DoubleTree by Hilton Olbia-Sardinia, for the whole duration of filming. Cast members joined them and stayed in the same hotel prior to filming charters on the yacht  and on the few “dark days” during the season when no one in production or the cast worked.

One “dark day” in July when the cast members were staying at the hotel, Suarez accompanied an inebriated King back to his hotel room after he filmed his interviews for the show, where she says producers provided him with a substantial amount of alcohol.

“There is no limit to alcohol consumption whatsoever, which I think poses a really big problem,” she says.

Bravo is in the midst of an unresolvable conflict crisis, the 6 best carry-on suitcases we're toting right now.

Suarez says when King asked her not to leave she joked with him that she would sit outside of his door to make sure he wouldn’t leave his hotel room. According to Suarez, King then suggested she get in bed with him and repeatedly asked her not to leave his room even though she says he was aware that she was in a relationship with someone else. After a few minutes, she insisted she had to leave and help other cast members, telling King she would return later to drop off snacks and water. She says when she went back to King’s room with a case of water bottles and a bag of snacks, she knocked on the door and King answered the door in his underwear. She says she asked King to take the case of water out of her hands and he continued to ask her not to leave his hotel room.

“I was like, ‘I have to go — I need to go bring other people water and food,’ and he’s like, ‘No, no, please,’” Suarez says. “So I stepped into the room to set the case of waters down and again, he’s repeating, ‘Don’t leave,’ and I was like, ‘I have to go, I’m not staying.’”

“At that point, I didn’t know what was going to happen. I was freaking out,” Suarez says. “It just happened so fast.”

In that same moment, Suarez says she received a phone call from the talent manager and answered it. She says that’s when King let go of the door and she stepped into the hallway to take the call.

“I’m freaking out, and he goes, ‘What’s wrong? What’s going on?’ And I’m like, ‘Just leave me alone.’ He tried to come up behind me and put his arm around me. He’s in the hallway in his underwear and it’s all weird and fucked up, and so I’m just like, ‘Just go back in your room and don’t come out.’”

“I’m freaking out, and he goes, ‘What’s wrong? What’s going on?’ And I’m like, ‘Just leave me alone.’“

Suarez says she immediately told producers what happened following the incident when she saw them in the production office. The next day, she says a co-executive producer reached out to her and they had a conversation about what happened. After Suarez spoke with the co-executive producer she says she had another meeting with him, executive producers Courtland Cox and Vivian Choi, as well as the show’s talent manager. She says she told the producers she didn’t feel comfortable being around King, she didn’t want to do his hair or makeup, and she didn’t want to be alone with him or in the same room as him. She says Cox apologized to her and said the producers would have a conversation with King, assuring Suarez that King would be fired from the show if any other incidents occurred. She says the next day producers removed King from the hotel where the rest of the cast and crew members were staying and for the rest of the “dark days” during filming, he was instructed to sleep on the boat.

“It pretty much sucked from there on out,” Suarez says. “I was just in a super depressive state.”

King declined to comment for this story. A spokesperson for Bravo told Rolling Stone in a statement, “Bravo is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace for cast and crew on our reality shows. We require our third-party production companies to have appropriate workplace policies and trainings in place and a clear process on how to report concerns.  The concerns Ms. Suarez raised in July 2022 were investigated at that time and action was taken based on the findings.”

“With any complaint filed, a timely investigation is launched and, based on the findings, appropriate actions are implemented to ensure the safety of our cast and crew, up to and including termination. With regard to the incident reported by Ms. Suarez involving Mr. King, the case was investigated and reviewed as soon as it was submitted, and production acted accordingly based on the results.”

According to Saurez, she stayed inside her hotel room for a week following the incident with King and didn’t immediately return to work because she says she was upset, depressed, and her mental health declined; she says she even debated going home and not finishing out the rest of the season.

At the time, Suarez also reached out to Zach Klein, the COO of 51 Minds Entertainment, to report the incident. In emails reviewed by Rolling Stone , Suarez detailed the incident to Klein and wrote:

“[King] comes up behind me, puts his arms around me, holds me against his body, physically restraining me from leaving, and says stuff like no don’t go. I get out of his grip, tell him again that I have to leave, that I am not staying, and I go reach for the door knob and he comes over and puts both his hands on the door, with his whole weight, to push it shut. This whole time he’s laughing. I ask him to please let me out of the room, that I have to go. I then get a phone call from [the talent manager]. He sees and hears that I answer and he finally moves away from the door, allowing me to open it. I step outside, not even able to listen to what [the talent manager] is saying to me because I’m so overwhelmed at that point, and Gary grabs his room key, comes out of his room, again, is only in his underwear, letting the door close behind him.”

After emailing Klein, emails reviewed by Rolling Stone confirm that an HR representative for Banijay America, the parent company of 51 Minds, reached out to Suarez and asked her to have a conversation. Suarez says she spoke to the HR representative who then arranged for her to speak with a counselor. Suarez says the HR representative stayed in touch with her for the remainder of the season and told her the company was conducting an investigation into the incident; at one point, Suarez says the representative told her she spoke to other crew members and to King about what allegedly happened.

Later in the season, Suarez says the HR representative also asked her not to talk about the incident with other production staffers because “it was becoming water cooler talk” on set and it seemed like Suarez was “trying to rally the troops” against the show. Saurez says she wasn’t even alongside her fellow crew members in the week following the incident but because of her absence, people reached out to her and asked her why she wasn’t on set. Suarez says she told the HR representative that she explained what happened to the people who reached out to her and asked for clarification about whether or not she was “allowed” to talk about the incident with her colleagues. Suarez says the rep told her yes, she was allowed to, but discouraged her from doing it.

In later conversations, Suarez says she expressed to executive producers that she was upset about how the situation was addressed. She says executive producers responded by saying they originally offered to fire King from the show when the alleged incident happened. Suarez says she wanted leadership to make that decision based on the information they had and not put the responsibility on her to say whether or not she wanted King fired, especially since she didn’t actually have the power to enforce that decision. After the incident, Suarez says she only saw King in passing a couple of times around the hotel but that they never directly interacted or communicated.

“He’s next-level scary with women,” they say.

Three other people who did not work for 51 Minds Entertainment, NBC, or Below Deck spoke to Rolling Stone and say that Suarez told them about the alleged incident with King at the time.

Another crew member who requested anonymity out of fear of repercussions tells Rolling Stone later in this same season, they witnessed King grab a female cast member’s butt and continue to touch her inappropriately even though she said, “No,” and told him to stop. While filming at a beach club in Sardinia, the crew member says King was inebriated and they also witnessed King grab another production crew member’s genitals. During off days in between charters, Below Deck typically films cast members partying on and off the boat in their free time. It’s common to see cast members drunk and engage in sexual activity with one another on camera.

The crew member says they reported the issue on their walkie talkie, which they use to communicate with the executive producer, director, and other people working in the control room. According to production crew members, there’s a control room set up in one of the guest rooms on the boat where producers monitor live footage. When they’re filming on location off the boat, they set up an area nearby that acts as a control room.

“The girl was literally saying, ‘No, stop, don’t,’” the crew member says. “I’m explaining this over my walkie and no one’s acknowledging it.”

“The girl was literally saying, ‘No, stop, don’t.’ I’m explaining this over my walkie and no one’s acknowledging it.“

They say a producer eventually approached King and told him to stop. After the producer spoke to him, the crew member says King walked over to a camera operator who was on a break and grabbed his genitals.

The crew member says these incidents were filmed but didn’t air on television. They say they’re not sure what happened to the footage of King’s alleged behavior or other footage that the production company doesn’t end up using for TV. Typically, the crew member says, producers and editors have access to raw footage filmed in the field at least until the editing stage.

“I had to promote and make this guy who just assaulted someone look awesome,” they say. “That was my job, to make this person look cool, capable, and exciting.”

The production crew member says after they were vocal about witnessing King’s alleged harassment on set throughout filming, they were not asked to return to the show after working for different iterations of the Below Deck franchise for years. Suarez also says she thinks she was retaliated against for reporting King’s behavior to the production company and that’s why she wasn’t asked to return to the show. Suarez says while King got to stay on Below Deck without consequences, she lost the opportunity to work after reporting the alleged misconduct. For Suarez, there wasn’t enough done to remove King from the show or hold him accountable after he allegedly exhibited inappropriate behavior toward her and other women.

“You’re an executive producer on the show and you’re not even worried that your cast member put his hands on me and is being a creep currently while being on TV?” Suarez says. “Somebody shouldn’t be able to keep a platform for being a gross creep.”

Productions’ handling of the incident with King exhibited a pattern to Suarez who says she told a producer about a separate incident that allegedly occurred when she filmed Below Deck Season 10. She says she was put in charge of accompanying the male cast members from a car to their hotel and bosun Ross McHarg made her feel uncomfortable.

“He was just making these weird, lewd, sexual, gross comments toward me to the point where the other boys in the car were like, ‘Shut up Ross, why are you saying these things to her?’” Suarez says. “There was stuff like that that I expressed to production as well and, you know, nothing happened thereafter.” (McHarg did not respond to requests for comment.)

According to Suarez and three other staffers who worked in production for Below Deck , someone from HR delivers a sexual harassment and cultural sensitivity training before each season. Producers also allegedly tell staffers if something goes awry during filming to communicate it on their walkie talkies and someone in the control room will respond. At the beginning of the season, crew members say they’re also explicitly told not to break the “fourth wall” and interact with cast members under any circumstances.

“For a show like this where there is alcohol and sex involved, I think there should be an intimacy coordinator-type position on these shows or something like that,” one crew member says. “There should be some accountability and some standardization practice where it’s not just up to some dude [in the control room] who has been producing television for 20 years.”

Inspired by the SAG strike, former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel has been vocal about what she calls the mistreatment of reality stars by networks and her desire for talent to unionize for better protections. Earlier in August, lawyers on behalf of a handful of unnamed reality stars sent a letter to NBCUniversal accusing the company of manipulation, covering up instances of sexual violence, and other claims regarding their reality shows. The purpose of the letter was to ask NBCUniversal to hold possible evidence ahead of litigation.

Suarez also thinks there should be protocols for crew members to follow when they witness or experience sexual harassment or misconduct from a cast member or anyone else on set.

“Why can’t you just get on TV and be like, ‘Gary had to be removed from the show for his misconduct?’ If anything, that would make me respect the producers and the show and everything a lot more if they were just honest instead of trying to sweep things under the rug, which is what feels like happened.”

Captain Jason Chambers on Below Deck Down Under Season 3

Finally, we have an update on Below Deck Down Under Season 3, thanks to Captain Jason Chambers, and it’s good news for fans.

It’s been nearly a year since Season 2 of Below Deck Down Under ended.

However, fans wondered if the show was canceled when Aesha returned to Below Deck Med for Season 9 in the chief stew role.

While the show’s future remained up in the air, Captain Jason urged Below Deck Down Under fans to express their frustration to Bravo.

Whether or not his message to fans helped, Captain Jason finally has something positive to share or tease.

The other day, Captain Jason took to Instagram to promote Gold Dust spa in Bali. While his caption didn’t mention anything about Below Deck Down Under, he had some things to say about the show in the comments section.

“When will we see you back in Below Deck???!” asked one fan, with Captain Jason responding, “@bev_davis3 soon ❤.”

Another fan wanted to know if Captain Jason was ever returning to yachting. The captain’s response gave more insight into the show.

“@dylananddarby You can’t do both unfortunately. As a captain you need to be 100% committed and I’m using this gap in life to be with my daughter and see where the dices land. ❤️,” he explained.

“Below deck down under crew in LA, does this mean our season is getting closer to the screens? Mmm I wonder?” Captain Jason wrote.

Captain Jason reveals Season 2 crew member is back on Below Deck Down Under

Oh yes, the captain just dropped a bomb that Tzarina is back for Season 3 of the Below Deck spin-off, and we are here for them to work together on-screen again.

The question remains when will Season 3 of Below Deck Down Under premiere? As Monsters and Critics previously reported, Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 is slated to premiere this fall.

Below Deck Down Under Season 3 should follow the sailing show, which would mean an early 2025 premiere.

Then again, if Bravo doubles up on Below Deck Sailing Yacht episodes like it did last season, Below Deck Down Under could premiere sooner.

Check back with Monsters and Critics for more updates on Below Deck Down Under.

Below Deck Down Under is currently on hiatus on Bravo. Seasons 1-2 are streaming on Peacock.

  • Captain Sandy Yawn praises Iain Maclean's improvement in the midst of yacht leaks during a storm.
  • Iain faces criticism but earns praise for fixing a leak as he shows dedication to his job.
  • Below Deck Med season 9 has been filled with mishaps and blunders, with the crew under scrutiny for allegedly faking their poor performances.

Rumors about fake performances on Below Deck Mediterranean have been making their way through the Bravo universe, but Captain Sandy Yawn is now stating that one crewmate's poor performance has actually improved . The rumors of fake poor performances by the Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 cast have been going around since almost the beginning of the season, especially when Chef Johnathan "Jono" Shillingford began to make mistakes with the food that a professional chef shouldn't be making, such as serving improperly cooked meat. Iain Maclean was also accused of faking his performance, including letting charter guests drift away on paddleboards.

"This storm has caused so many issues, we have two separate leaks."

Although Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 has been filled with mishaps and blunders by the crew members, one incident is even making Captain Sandy give one crew member their dues . In a preview for the next episode, shared on Bravo 's YouTube channel, the yacht is not only caught in a terrible storm, it is also leaking in two separate places.

In the preview, Iain is seen working on something in a tiny space , while Captain Sandy asks, " Okay, Iain, what is going on? " to which Iain responds, " The starboard forward cabin is all dry, " earning him a " well done " from Captain Sandy.

Did Iain Maclean Save Himself From Getting Fired On Below Deck Med?

Bosun iain has faced intense criticism for his work performance.

Captain Sandy has had her hands full with the crew she was assigned for Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 , and there were major concerns that the beloved Captain Sandy Yawn might not even return for another season. The trouble with the exterior crew started almost immediately; Bosun Iain allowed a guest to paddle around on a paddleboard but failed to put anyone in charge of watching the guest. In a shocking moment, the guest was allowed to float away from the boat and was rescued by a passing catamaran, and was then picked up by the tender.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

It seemed like this would be the moment when Iain would be fired from his job and a new cast member brought aboard. However, Captain Sandy believes in giving her crew chances to improve their performance and gives them opportunities to save their jobs when they are in jeopardy. Although Iain's behavior as a team leader was shockingly poor, this was not Iain's first time on a yacht, as he had previously spent five years in the industry. Most likely due to his experience, Captain Sandy got very stern with Iain , pointing out his mistakes rather than celebrating his wins .

While Iain was being pushed to his breaking point by Captain Sandy's constant criticism, he did not give up. Iain continued to try to improve his leadership and communication skills, and his efforts may be working. During an intense storm that popped up in the Mediterranean that caused the yacht to dock, two different leaks occurred. Captain Sandy was obviously concerned about this development and had the team of engineers working on one leak while the exterior crew worked on another. Thankfully, Iain was able to give Captain Sandy the news she wanted to hear: the leak was all gone .

This season has cast a shadow on the professional skills of the people working on the chartered yachts of Bravo's Below Deck franchise. The interior crew is struggling with a love triangle that is preventing them from fulfilling the duties of their jobs. Meanwhile, the chef is serving meals that have the potential to be not only sickening but also deadly when Chef Jono serves a guest raw fish that she's deathly allergic to. So after Bosun Iain is finally able to do something correctly , it is no wonder Captain Sandy was quick to tell him, “ Well done, well done. ”

Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo, then streams the following day on Peacock.

Lynch Yacht Sinking Off Sicily Proves as Baffling as It Is Tragic

As bodies were recovered, the authorities and experts wondered how a $40 million, stable and secure vessel could have sunk so quickly.

A diver in an orange jumpsuit suit and crews in gray shirts and red trousers hoist remains in a blue body bag onto a boat, as others in reflector uniforms stand nearby.

Emma Bubola reported from Porticello, Italy, and Michael J. de la Merced from London.

Two months after being cleared in a bruising legal battle over fraud charges, the British tech mogul Mike Lynch celebrated his freedom with a cruise. He invited his family, friends and part of his legal team on board his luxury sailing yacht, a majestic 180-foot vessel named Bayesian after the mathematical theorem around which he had built his empire.

On Sunday night, after a tour of the Gulf of Naples, including Capri, and volcanic islands in the Eolian archipelago, the boat anchored half a mile off the Sicilian coast in Porticello, Italy. It chose a stretch of water favored by the Phoenicians thousands of years ago for its protection from the mistral wind and, in more recent times, by the yachts of tech billionaires. The boat was lit “like a Christmas tree,” local residents said, standing out against the full moon.

But about 4 a.m., calamity unfolded. A violent and fast storm hit the area with some of the strongest winds locals said they had ever felt. Fabio Cefalù, a fisherman, said he saw a flare pierce the darkness shortly after 4.

Minutes later, the yacht was underwater. Only dozens of cushions from the boat’s deck and a gigantic radar from its mast floated on the surface of the sea, fishermen said.

In all, 22 people were on board, 15 of whom were rescued. Six bodies — five passengers and the ship’s cook — had been recovered by Thursday afternoon, including that of Mr. Lynch, an Italian government official said, adding that the search was continuing for his daughter.

It was a tragic and mystifying turn of events for Mr. Lynch, 59, who had spent years seeking to clear his name and was finally inaugurating a new chapter in his life. Experts wondered how a $40 million yacht, so robust and stable could have been sunk by a storm near a port within minutes.

“It drives me insane,” said Giovanni Costantino, the chief executive of the Italian Sea Group, which in 2022 bought the company, Perini, that made the Bayesian. “Following all the proper procedures, that boat is unsinkable.”

The aura of misfortune only deepened when it emerged that Stephen Chamberlain, 52, a former vice president of finance for Mr. Lynch’s former company and a co-defendant in the fraud case, was killed two days earlier, when he was hit by a car while jogging near his house in England.

Since June, the two men had been in a jubilant mood. A jury in San Francisco had acquitted both on fraud charges that could have sent them to prison for two decades. There were hugs and tears, and they and their legal teams went for a celebratory dinner party at a restaurant in the city, said Gary S. Lincenberg, a lawyer for Mr. Chamberlain.

The sea excursion was meant as a thank-you by Mr. Lynch to those who had helped him in his legal travails. Among the guests was Christopher J. Morvillo, 59, a scion of a prominent New York family of lawyers who had represented Mr. Lynch for 12 years. He and his wife, Neda, 57, were among the missing.

So, too, was Jonathan Bloomer, 70, a veteran British insurance executive who chaired Morgan Stanley International and the insurer Hiscox.

The body of the ship’s cook, Recaldo Thomas, was recovered. All the other crew members survived. Among them was Leo Eppel, 19, of South Africa, who was on his first yacht voyage working as a deck steward, said a friend, who asked not to be identified.

Since the sinking, the recovery effort and investigation have turned the tiny port town of Porticello, a quiet enclave where older men sit bare-chested on balconies, into what feels like the set of a movie.

Helicopters have flown overhead. Ambulances have sped by with the sirens blaring. The Coast Guard has patrolled the waters off shore, within sight of a cordoned-off dock that had been turned into an emergency headquarters.

On Wednesday afternoon, a church bell tolled after the first body bag was loaded into an ambulance, a crowd watching in silence.

The survivors were sheltering in a sprawling resort near Porticello, with a view of the shipwreck spot, and had so far declined to comment.

Attilio Di Diodato, director of the Italian Air Force’s Center for Aerospace Meteorology and Climatology, said that the yacht had most likely been hit by a fierce “down burst” — when air generated within a thunderstorm descends rapidly — or by a waterspout , similar to a tornado over water.

He added that his agency had put out rough-sea warnings the previous evening, alerting sailors about storms and strong winds. Locals said the winds “felt like an earthquake.”

Mr. Costantino, the boat executive, said the yacht had been specifically designed for having a tall mast — the second-tallest aluminum mast in the world. He said the Bayesian was an extremely safe and secure boat that could list even to 75 degrees without capsizing.

But he said that if some of the hatches on the side and in the stern, or some of the deck doors, had been open, the boat could have taken on water and sunk. Standard procedure in such storms, he said, is to switch on the engine, lift the anchor and turn the boat into the wind, lowering the keel for extra stability, closing doors and gathering the guests in the main hall inside the deck.

12 guests occupied the yacht’s six cabins. There were also 10 crew members.

Open hatches, doors and cabin windows could have let in water during a storm, according to the manufacturer.

The New York Times attempted to reach the captain, James Cutfield, who had survived, for comment through social media, his brother and the management company of the yacht (which did not hire the crew), but did not make contact.

So far none of the surviving crew members have made a public statement about what happened that night.

Fabio Genco, the director of Palermo’s emergency services, who treated some of the survivors, said that the victims had recounted feeling as if the boat was being lifted, then suddenly dropped, with objects from the cabins falling on them.

The Italian Coast Guard said it had deployed a remotely operated vehicle that can prowl underwater for up to seven hours at a depth of more than 980 feet and record videos and images that they hoped would help them reconstruct the dynamics of the sinking. Such devices were used during the search and rescue operations of the Titan vessel that is believed to have imploded last summer near the wreckage of the Titanic.

After rescuers broke inside the yacht, they struggled to navigate the ropes and many pieces of furniture cluttering the vessel, said Luca Cari, a spokesman for Italy’s national firefighter corps.

Finally, as of Thursday morning, they had managed to retrieve all but one of the missing bodies, and hopes of finding the missing person alive were thin. “Can a human being be underwater for two days?” Mr. Cari asked.

What was certain was that Mr. Lynch’s death was yet another cruel twist of fate for a man who had spent years seeking to clear his name.

He earned a fortune in technology and was nicknamed Britain’s Bill Gates. But for more than a decade, he had been treated as anything but a respected tech leader.

He was accused by Hewlett-Packard, the American technological pioneer that had bought his software company, Autonomy, for $11 billion, of misleading it about his company’s worth. (Hewlett-Packard wrote down the value of the transaction by about $8.8 billion, and critics called it one of the worst deals of all time .) He had been increasingly shunned by the British establishment that he sought to break into after growing up working-class outside London.

He was extradited to San Francisco to face criminal charges, and confined to house arrest and 24-hour surveillance on his dime. In a townhouse in the Pacific Heights neighborhood — with security people he jokingly told associates were his “roommates” — he spent his mornings talking with researchers whom he funded personally on new applications for artificial intelligence. Afterward, he devoted hours to discussing legal strategy with his team.

Despite his persistent claims of innocence, even those close to Mr. Lynch had believed his odds of victory were slim. Autonomy’s chief financial officer, Sushovan Hussain, was convicted in 2018 of similar fraud charges and spent five years in prison.

During Mr. Lynch’s house arrest, his brother and mother died. His wife, Angela Bacares, frequently flew over from England, and she became a constant presence in the San Francisco courtroom during the trial.

After he was finally acquitted, Mr. Lynch had his eye on the future. “I am looking forward to returning to the U.K. and getting back to what I love most: my family and innovating in my field,” he said.
