Italian megayacht-builder Benetti crafts custom and semi-custom steel-and-aluminum yachts 93 feet to more than 213 feet (28 meters to more than 65 meters) in length under out of its Viareggio, Fano, and Livorno shipyards. Founder Paolo Vitelli started the company in Turin in 1969 as a sailboat charter company named Azimut . In 1977, the company produced what at the time was the smallest yacht, the AZ 32-foot Targa, considered to be the Model T of the marine industry. Azimut took over the Fratelli Benetti boatyard in Viareggio in 1985, creating the Azimut Benetti Group, which has continued to expand into all things nautical, including, most recently, marinas.

Another large accomplishment is the 230-foot (70-meter) steel-and-aluminum Luxury Yacht FREEDOM (ex. REVERIE) . She features a top speed of 16 knots and a range of 5,200 nautical miles at 12 knots. Yacht FREEDOM is powered by two CAT 3516 engines. John Munford designed the sumptuous interior, which accommodates 26 guests and 29 crew. Stefano Natucci penned the exterior styling and concept.

Benetti Yacht LUMIERE

Luxury mega yacht LUMIERE (ex Cuor di Leone,  Lionheart ) is a 164-foot (50-meter) luxury superyacht. Benetti yacht LUMIERE accommodates 12 guests and 12 crew in a light and bright interior, which was designed by Stefano Natucci, who also created the exterior. The steel-and-aluminum yacht achieves a top speed of 18.5 knots and a cruise of 16.5, thanks to two MTU diesel engines. Yacht LUMIERE boasts a range of 3,800 nautical miles.

Benetti Yacht DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER

Mega-Yacht DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER was sold by Worth Avenue Yachts in December of 2013.

The 200-foot (60.95-meter) 2012 Mega Yacht DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER  showcases an interior stemming from the collaboration between owner John Staluppi and London-based designer Evan K. Marshall. Six staterooms—including two masters—sleep 12 guests, plus the yacht houses 15 crew. An elevator services all five decks. Two Caterpillar engines propel the full-displacement steel-and-aluminum yacht to a 16-knot top speed and a cruising speed of 15 knots. Traveling at 12 knots gives Benetti Yacht DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER a range of 4,800 nautical miles. A flotilla of tenders and toys complete the package.

Benetti Yacht BLAKE

On May 26th in Viareggio, Italy the shipyard launched their longest GRP hull and aluminum superstructure yacht ever. M/Y BLAKE is a 50-meter fully custom mega yacht. The Benetti Custom FB803 Project Blake is the third hull of this series featuring Benetti exteriors and Bannenberg & Rowel interiors. Sisterships for the 50m yacht BLAKE are the FB801 VICA and FB802 ZAZOU.

Propulsion System

Along with being at the forefront of trend-setting yacht design, Benetti is also a pioneer in creating sustainable production processes and models that are as eco-friendly as possible.

Their new hybrid propulsion system, which was conceived exclusively for the FB272 Giga yacht, employs a responsible energy approach as it drastically decreases fuel consumption over the life of the yacht. This particular propulsion package included diesel-electric engines with two Azipods propulsion units powered by a battery pack. The Azipod units are even able to rotate 360-degrees and achieve better fuel efficiency than conventional propulsion systems.

Brand History

Founded in 1873 by Lorenzo Benetti, Benetti Yachts is one of the oldest luxury shipyard in the world. Today, they build semi-custom composite yachts from 93′ to 145′ and custom steel and aluminium superyachts.

The company was later managed by his two sons Gino and Emilio, who renamed the shipyard Fratelli Benetti and quickly gained reputation outside the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. After the Second World War, with the disappearance of commercial sailing vessels built from wood, Benetti changed direction and began producing pleasure craft made from steel. Then in the early 1960s the boatyard produced its first luxury mega yachts.

Since 1980 the fleet has included motor yachts in the 30 to 60 meter range and beyond, not least the famous 86-meter ‘Nabila’. In 1985 the Boatyard was acquired by the celebrated Turin-based boat builder Azimut Spa, which transformed Benetti into the modern, technologically advanced reality we know today: a forward-looking and innovative boatyard, but also one that proudly retains its traditional values of experience, skill and a passion for fine craftsmanship.

CLASSIC 40M BENETTI Motor yacht for sale

A handsome yacht with a first-class pedigree, CLASSIC 40M BENETTI is a 39.5m (129.5ft) tri-deck motor yacht constructed in steel with aluminium superstructure and delivered by the renowned Italian shipyard in 1970. Her long-standing owner has kept a tight maintenance schedule, ensuring that each winter the yacht is refitted and refurbished as needed.

Exterior design details include a graceful sheer line and bow profile, a classic canoe stern, full walkaround sidedecks on two levels and traditional varnished teak capping rails. Covered companionways on the main deck feature Benetti’s signature sculpted mullions.

The sun deck has L-shaped sofa seating and a huge expanse of sunpads with partial shade from a fixed awning and exercise equipment forward either side of the funnel. There is another large sunpad forward on the bridge deck and steps down to cushioned seats overlooking the foredeck.

She has a spacious bridge deck aft with shaded open-air dining beneath the sun deck overhang and a sun lounge with a sofa, armchairs and a coffee table opposite two sun loungers. There’s a sociable seating area aft that serves as a second open-air dining option with a U-shaped banquette, folding armchairs, a large high-gloss varnished table and a folding canvas bimini.

The main deck aft has four large rattan armchairs around a coffee table in ample shade. Inside, her interior decor is traditional, with finely crafted features. The main deck saloon has a large lounge area aft with L-shaped sofas and two armchairs and forward is the formal dining area with an eight-seat table. The sky lounge has a large sofa facing aft, looking through double doors opening onto the upper aft deck.

Welcoming up to eight guests in four cabins with seven crew, CLASSIC 40M BENETTI offers 267GT of internal volume. The guest accommodation is arranged across two decks. The owner’s suite is forward on the main deck, has an office desk and a 10sqm (108sqft) walk-in wardrobe. The en suite has a bathtub as well as a shower. The other guest cabins are on the lower deck, comprising a full-beam VIP double forward and two twin cabins that each have extra pullman berths.

This twin-screw yacht is powered by twin 624hp Caterpillar diesel engines with low engine hours. Her top speed is 13.7kts and she cruises at 11.5kts with a maximum range of 3,600nm.

Founded in 1873, Benetti is one of the oldest luxury shipyards in the world. Benetti builds semi-custom composite yachts from 93′ to 145′ and custom steel and aluminum superyachts starting at 154'. Azimut Yachts acquired Benetti’s management in the early 1980s, forming the Azimut Benetti Group, the world’s largest shipyard in terms of yachts produced.

Lorenzo Benetti founded Benetti Yachts in 1873. Benetti Shipyard is home to one of the oldest yacht-building yards in Europe. After Lorenzo’s passing, his sons Gino and Emilio took over the company and renamed it Fratelli Benetti.

Benetti began building wooden boats used for local and international trade; however, the company shifted direction after World War II, and started producing pleasure crafts made from steel. Benetti builds composite megayachts ranging from 93 to 164 feet and fully-custom steel and aluminum superyachts from 154 to over 180 feet. In the early 1980s, Azimut acquired Benetti’s management, forming the Azimut Benetti Group, the world’s largest shipyard in terms of yachts produced.

86m Benetti superyacht Kingdom 5KR crashes in Tunisia

The 85.9-metre Benetti superyacht Kingdom 5KR has crashed into a quay in Bizerte, Tunisia. According to BOATPro , the yacht has been stationary since 11 October at approximately 12.00pm (UTC).

Imagery shows the extent of damage to Kingdom 5KR 's bow – and the quay itself – following the collision.

Originally named Nabila , the yacht was commissioned by Saudi billionaire and arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi. She has had several high-profile owners in the decades since delivery, including Donald Trump – who renamed her Trump Princess – and Saudi royal Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. The yacht was also used as a base for Bond villain Maximillian Largo in Sean Connery's Never Say Never Again.

Her exterior is by Jon Bannenberg , characterised by her distinctive air funnels and angled windows, while her original interiors – complete with chincilla bedspreads and crystal-covered piano – were designed by Luigi Sturchio . Kingdom 5KR also features her own three-person hair salon and hospital.

The area has since been cordoned off by authorities. An investigation into the cause of the incident is now underway.
