A Seattle tradition returns to the city center to celebrate the region’s classic yachts and those who love them.

For anyone interested in or devoted to classic boats and yachts, the Pacific Northwest offers many options to get together, check out these amazing vessels, and to share information and enthusiasm about them. One of the central events, in both location and importance, is the local Classic Yacht Associations’s Rendezvous at the Port of Seattle’s Bell Harbor Marina. Whether you’ve been attending for years, or you might check it out for the first time, it’s a wonderful event for boat folk of every stripe. You might even find your next boat there, like the boaters in this 48° North My Boat column .

The Pacific Northwest Fleet of the Classic Yacht Association is pleased to announce the 26 th Annual Bell Harbor Rendezvous, to be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 17 and 18, 2023, at Bell Harbor Marina. The marina is located at Pier 66, 2203 Alaskan Way, Seattle, Washington. The show hours are 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Bell Harbor Rendezvous is sponsored by the Classic Yacht Association, a non-profit organization with more than a half-century of history that works through their members to promote, preserve, and restore vintage motor yachts and honor their maritime history and traditions while encouraging their use for recreation and education. Show admission is free to the public and many of the boats are open for free public tours. Visitors can expect to see up to 45 vintage and classic motor yachts on display. Diane E. Dubai: The Ideal Winter Yachting Destination

The emirate is fast becoming a popular sailing destination among those looking to soak up some winter sun.

Dubai has become a magnet for global yacht tourism, particularly during the winter season from October to April.

Winter is the best time to visit Dubai, when the weather’s just right for lazy days on the beach and outdoor fun. From October to April, the warm temperatures and calm waters in the region make yachting a breeze, promising a smooth and enjoyable journey. Dubai is rapidly emerging as a top winter yachting destination for enthusiasts who would typically favor the Caribbean or South America. They can now explore the Gulf region safely from one of the world’s most glamorous cities.

Dubai’s jam-packed calendar of events is another major draw for visitors. The city hosts a wide range of business, leisure and MICE events all year round, but winter is when it truly comes alive with a multitude of action-packed activities, from golf and rugby tournaments to tennis championships and horse racing .

Dubai plays host to many international events, including the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix, part of the SailSP competition series.

The Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix , part of the SailGP competition series, will take place on November 23 and 24, showcasing a fleet of high-performance F50 foiling catamarans battling it out on the iconic Mina Rashid. Meanwhile, the annual Gulf Superyacht Summit , taking place this December, and the Dubai International Boat Show , scheduled for February 2025, both highlight Dubai’s burgeoning yachting industry. These events showcase the latest in yacht design and technology, attracting enthusiasts, manufacturers and experts from around the world.

Other significant events like the annual Dubai Watch Week , Dubai Fashion Week and Art Dubai have further elevated Dubai’s position as a global city with a vibrant creative and cultural spirit. Those looking to ring in the new year on a grand scale will not be disappointed. New Year’s celebrations in Dubai are truly epic. Party it up at the trendiest beach clubs, enjoy star-studded performances by international artists or catch the iconic fireworks at Burj Khalifa and various locations along the coast.

There is a variety of dock and dine options dotted along Dubai’s dazzling coastline that yacht owners and their guests can choose from, including venues set against spectacular backdrops of the city skyline and the Arabian Gulf.

For instance, the Bulgari Marina at Bulgari Resort Dubai offers exclusive dock and dine services, including free berthing for four hours for guests. Pick from the one-Michelin-star omakase restaurant Hōseki or the two-Michelin-star Il Ristorante – Niko Romito for perfectly executed Italian cuisine.
