Caribbean Charters - When To Go.

One of the lovely things about the Caribbean is that the temperatures remain consistent throughout the year; however, there are some other weather considerations that you will want to factor in when making your caribbean yachting vacation plans. Read More....

Vacations here are most popular between November and July.

If you are thinking of a megayacht, you will want to keep in mind that many of these private yachts which are Caribbean based in winter leave in the late spring and early summer months. They will return again in early winter; however, this does limit their availability. To charter a mega yacht, you will want to make sure that you do so well in advance.

Motor, sail, or catamaran yachts, on the other hand, often have selections available year round. Holidays like Christmas, New Year’s, and Easter do need to be planned for as early as possible as these are very popular charter times.

The availability for Caribbean charters can also be affected by the weather in other climates, for instance, when the severity of the weather is bad in the United States or Europe, especially between January and February, the charters are often booked. This is due to many clients looking for a break from the cold.

Tulum Weddings

A one of a kind, amazing and hip selection and one of the most popular destinations to get married in Mexico. If this is your wedding and party location, then you will select from one of these boats for your private cruise,   Puerto Aventuras Catamarans  . 

How far is Tulum from my catamaran charter? 

These boats are located about 45min hour north from most Tulum locations, based out of Puerto Aventuras Marina the nearest deep water port. The best way to arrive to the marina is by van or bus. The typical charge for a van is about $210 -$250 round trip for us to 12 people. Buses are typically $500 or so round trip but many buses cannot drive down the beach road to meet you. 

Puerto Aventuras Weddings

Ok, we maybe a little bias when it comes to Puerto Avenutras and think you have hit the destination wedding catamaran charters jackpot! Definitely not as cool as Tulum, or the same type of nightlife as Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras is a family friendly gated marina community, where people run around on golf carts, go to the farmers market, enjoy outdoor restaurants and a slew of private villas and condo lodging. It has tennis courts, and a 9 hole golf course.  It where our office is location and where many of our favorite rentals catamaran companies are. 

What’s Puerto Aventuras like? 

Puerto Aventuras is a little marina town, with great water activities, and a big friendly expat community. The village is host to some great private wedding villas, of course you can ask us about them as well.  Most of our wedding groups walk to their catamaran charters or take a 5 min van ride for $5.00 per person round trip. Check out all your boat selections for your groups  Puerto Aventuras Catamarans .

Playa del Carmen Weddings

Private group charters from Playa del Carmen and south your home port is Puerto Avenuturas. For your wedding group charter tour this amazing, close by and fun! The transfer time to the marina of Puerto Aventuras is about 30 minutes depending on your location. We will give you 45 min to and hour to arrive check in and sail off. Not only is it a beautiful location, the town is full of restaurants, shopping, and great nightlife.

Different Types of Wedding Group Charters

We offer morning private event charters. The hours typically are 9am to 1pm . Gather your bridesmaids, groomsmen, and all your family allow them to snorkel, sunbath, sail, and experience the  beauty of the Riviera Maya Coastline during their stay. 

These tours will include snorkeling, open bar, snacks or lunch . They are a  great way to thank you wedding guests and give them amazing memories of your wedding. This is generally a fun non formal events.

Afternoon Sailing & Sunset Charters

The afternoon catamaran charter times can be flexible with approximate hours of 2pm to 6pm or 3pm to 7pm. This can be less or more formal depending on your wedding group or specific style for the event. 

These four hour charters, generally include snorkeling, open bar and since dinner time is after this, you have the choice to include appetizers or not. 

Why are afternoon sailing charters great? 

This is a great way to save money and provide an awesome experience for your guests. If you want to go the other direction and provide a more formal experience such as a buffet style meal aboard, just ask us. We can provide options for your group as well. 

Sunset Catamaran Charters

For an even more formal event your can choose to invite your guests to savor sunset and cocktails while sailing the Caribbean. We have a variety of boat charters available for just sunset tours. If two hours is not enough we do have 3 hour options aboard most of our catamarans.

We strongly advise booking through a qualified  yacht charter broker at least three months in advance for all Caribbean yacht charters. By doing so, you will increase the likelihood of securing your preferred dates and you will have a greater selection of yachts on offer to choose from.

Caribbean Yacht Charter Q&A

The best time to visit the Caribbean is generally December to April, when it's a little cooler and less humid. But the best month to visit can differ depending on the island, budget and interests you have. For example, some yacht charter guests may decide to visit May to June and late November, when weather is still fantastic but there are fewer crowds.

We advise booking your Caribbean yacht rental at least three months in advance to ensure you get the yacht you desire. The longer you leave it, the fewer choices you will have to rent in the Caribbean.

For your Caribbean superyacht charter, you will need to provide a completed charter agreement and 50% of the charter fee as a deposit. This is payable once the contract has been signed.

When booking a Caribbean yacht rental, do keep in mind the costs that aren't included in the base rate, namely VAT and the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance). The APA is usually paid in advance of the charter and is commonly set at 30% of the charter fee. This allowance covers expenses such as fuel, berthing, food and drinks, as well as any special requests. 

Please consult your yacht charter broker for any other costs you may need to factor in for your yacht charter in the Caribbean.

Well first of all if you are new to the world of private yacht vacations then you may be thinking it is way out of your budget. In reality it is more than likely not! It can be less expensive than going to a resort and much more fun – way more fun for the two of you.

You need to choose a boat based on the most important factors for your honeymoon.

Do you like to sunbathe? Then a catamaran or a power yacht will be best for you.

Overall, in my professional opinion, a Catamaran is the best way to sail the Caribbean waters in the BVI for your honeymoon. These yachts sit well on a mooring ball or at anchor; they offer lots of outdoor space; they can get in close to the shore so that you can swim to land if you want to; easy access into the water from the swim platforms; mostly large air conditioned cabins with luxury linens. All the modern luxuries you would expect are on a power boat.

Catamarans are also very quiet once the engine is off. All you hear is the gently lapping of the water on the hull as you glide through the clear aqua waters. Heaven! These yachts all carry an assortment of water toy like paddle boards; kayaks; swim tubes and noodles; floating mats etc

Now having said that we have many clients/guests who really prefer a power boat. Either because they like to get from A to B fast or because they feel safer with engines on all the time. Powerboats cannot get in as close to the shore so you will need to be taken by dinghy to the beaches.

On the smaller power boats you will be able to hear the engines at all times when underway. On the large mega yachts you will be further away from the engine rooms so the noise will be greatly diminished. If you want to jump in hot water with your honey a great feature on some power yachts, and I mean the mega yacht type here, is having a Jacuzzi.

And on some of the mega yachts that cruise these waters, there will be jet skis and kayaks and many other water toys. The smaller powerboats will carry the same water toy as the catamarans. Each yacht will have a list of toys on-board, these can be great fun when celebrating your once in a lifetime honeymoon.
