Bucklands Beach Yacht Club and Marina
Buckland Beach Marina was opened in April 1988, providing a much needed facility for club members, berth holders and the public. The costs of developing the marina, car parks and the extension to the launching ramps were all met by the berth holders, with the Club obtaining the use of the work berths and the inside of the floating breakwater at no cost. The Marina continues to produce a valuable income for the Yacht Club.
Your BBYC plastic card gives you (and your guests under your supervision) access to the clubhouse toilets, showers, telephone and emergency oxygen cylinder (opposite the paraplegic toilet) 24 hours a day. Security:
There are security cameras operating in the marina area keeping Surveillance. Please ensure that the marina gates are closed at all times and report any suspicious activity.

Bucklands Beach Yacht Club is situated in popular Half Moon Bay, Auckland, New Zealand, a marine suburb with a local population drawn to the area by the attractive water activities. The Club is well placed to offer facilities for training and encouragement to young enthusiasts as well as experienced yachties and boaties.
Several international and Olympic sportsmen and women are members – among them Barbara and Bruce Kendall and Joey Allen of Team NZ.
The ongoing investment in J24 Keelboats is giving young sailors the opportunity to advance their skills. An Optimist Training School is teaching large numbers of youngsters basic sailing skills. Advanced coaching in competition sailing has shown results in National Contests.

Bucklands Beach Yacht Club Marina sits on the Tamaki River of Auckland Harbour, giving easy access to the harbour and Hauraki Gulf Islands. The marina comprises of three piers and a floating breakwater adjacent to Half Moon Bay Marina. Marine services, outlets, restaurants/cafes and supermarket are all an easy walk.

Our meeting place - Bucklands Beach Yacht Club - with Bucklands Beach and nearby Islands in the background. Our Club was Chartered in 1976 and currently has a membership of 15 made up of both men and women . Our Club's focus is mainly on the local community where we aim to help enrich the lives of our residents through the support of local projects, schools, senior citizens and with a very strong bias to youth related programmes particulary in the fields of health & education. We also support District and International initiatives as well as the Lions Diabetes Eye Care Project in Fiji. Our major activities include supporting of the Youth Activities of the Bucklands Beach Yacht Club through joint fundraising effort, our firewood project which produces around 40 trailer loads each year. We also fund prescription eyeglasses for underprivilaged children through Kidz First Hospital and help maintain the Kidz First Healing Garden at Middlemore Hospital and regular fundraising BBQs at The Warehouse. We also organise the Zone's Annual Young Ambassador Award Project. We are currently supporting a Pest Free eradication programme in our area in an effort to free the area from rats and possums and promote the bird life in our area. We support two Leo Clubs - Bucklands Beach Intermediate (a school based Club) and Bucklands Beach Leo Club (a Community based Club) as well as the District's Youth Development projects. Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
