4th OLYMPIC YACHT SHOW 10TH OCTOBER – 13TH OCTOBER 2024 ONDECK EVENTS IS SETTING SAIL FOR THE FOURTH AND BIGGEST EVENT OF THE PREMIUM IN-WATER SHOW IN GREECE
Increased demand from Greek and foreign exhibitor, High expectations for a new record high of participations & attendance, Strong presence of the premium yachting market, Greek yards taking centre stage, National and European premieres.
Preparations are in full swing for the 4th Olympic Yacht Show to be held at Olympic Marine, in Lavrio, October 10-13. This year’s list of exhibitors includes the latest additions to the diverse yachting market, giving attendees the opportunity for new B2B meetings that will lead to important business deals.
Just three months before the big rendezvous of yachting professionals and friends from all over the world, the open places in both the floating and the land section of the exhibition get steadily filled, matching the organisers’ high expectations for a new participation record. The event that has established itself on the international map of major yachting events already stands out as the only event in Greece that focuses on the medium and large class, while also highlighting the new premium models for sale.
According to the head of the Show’s Organizing Committee, Gerasimos Gerolimatos: “The Olympic Yacht Show is now a vital meeting point for the enthusiasts and professionals of yachting, as well as for Greek and foreign yards. This year it will be bigger and even more diverse. What’s worth noting today is that the Olympic Yacht Show is the Greek tool for promoting the market of sea tourism and luxury tourism. It sheds prismatic light upon this market, while at the same time putting Greek Yachting in the foreground. It sends out a strong message that the Greek market is one of the most active and significant sectors of our economy and remains forever competitive in the international arena.”
As in the previous events, the largest companies of the sector will make their presence felt in the stylish and well-thought-out venue of Olympic Marine, while space has been provided for the large category of luxury ribs and day cruisers.
For the second consecutive year, EKO will be supporting the Olympic Yacht Show 2024 as the Grand Sponsor, reinforcing the most successful and acclaimed in-water show in Greece. The long-awaited rendezvous of the Greek yachting business scene is expected to be renewed, more diverse and bigger than ever.
Having won the undivided support of the state for the fourth consecutive year, the Olympic Yacht Show 2024 is under the auspices of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, the Ministry of Tourism, the Greek National Tourism Organisation, the Prefecture of Attica, the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Greek Marinas Association, the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Municipality of Lavreotiki.

Olympic Yacht Show 2022 to Open in Lavrio on October 7
Following last year’s successful event, the Olympic Yacht Show returns to Lavrio in Attica for its second edition, which is expected to be bigger and more diverse.
Organized by OnDeck Events, the Olympic Yacht Show 2022 will take place at the renovated facilities of the Olympic Marine in Lavrio during October 7 – 10 .
According to its organizer, the show has already attracted the attention of some of the largest yachting companies in Greece, while leading executives of international companies and shipyards have already confirmed their participation as guests, adding to the event’s “global allure”.
The number of yacht entries is also growing at an impressive pace, reaching over 100, with new models expected to debut during the show.
Furthermore, Greek shipyards including Olympic YachIS, Skipper-BSK, Technohull, Rafnar Hellas, Rock Marine, Seafighter, Olympic Ribs and Onda Tenders will take center stage.
“The Olympic Yacht Show aims to become a significant communication platform for the Greek shipbuilding industry. Greek yachts must have their own local show at home in order to attract foreign buyers; this is one of the main reasons for visiting the show,” said Gerasimos Gerolimatos , head of the Olympic Yacht Show Organizing Committee.
On land, the show will feature leading international companies that stand out for their exquisite services in the areas of equipment, technology and yacht support.
The aim of the Olympic Yacht Show is to become an annual nautical event and offer a platform for business discussions to yachting professionals and owners alike.
The 2nd Olympic Yacht Show 2022 will be held under the auspices of the Ministries of Shipping, Development & Investments, Tourism, the Greek National Tourism Organization , the Attica Region and other organizations.

Olympic Yacht Show 2023: the event returns to Olympic Marine
ONDECK Events is pleased to announce the organisation of the 3rd OLYMPIC YACHT SHOW, an event dedicated to the premium yacht category. Building upon the success of last year’s event, the yachting business scene in Greece is set to reconvene for an even grander and more affluent gathering.
The event will take place between 19th and 22nd October 2023 at the modern and renovated facilities of Olympic Marine in Lavrio. Similar to last year, it is expected to garner significant interest from both Greece and abroad. The main goal of the show is to establish itself as a productive communication platform for the medium and large yacht categories.
More specifically, the OLYMPIC YACHT SHOW highlights new yachts for sale belonging to the premium yacht category. It stands as the sole yachting event in Greece with a distinct focus on medium and mega yachts, as well as the thriving industry that revolves around them.
The foremost companies in the industry will have a robust presence in both the onshore and floating areas, set within a well-organised and elegantly designed environment. Within this context, special arrangements have been made to accommodate large category yachts, including luxury ribs and luxury day cruisers.
The premium in-water show, which took place for the first time last October at Olympic Marine in Lavrio, positioned Greece at the epicentre of international interest, drawing over 15,000 visitors from Greece and around the globe. It stands as the singular yachting event in Greece that concentrates on high-calibre tourism and the thriving business associated with the yachting industry.
Drawing upon a wealth of extensive experience in the field of motor yachts and international events, ONDECK Media & Events is fully immersed in the preparations for the premier organisation of the 3rd OLYMPIC YACHT SHOW , slated to be held between 19th and 22nd October 2023 at the state-of-the-art facilities of Olympic Marine.
In strong collaboration with prominent companies in the industry, the 3rd OLYMPIC YACHT SHOW aspires to once again serve as a think tank for business professionals and owners this year, while also functioning as a bridge connecting the Greek market with the global scene. The event possesses a robust international profile, leading to considerable interest and confirmed participation from members of foreign yachting houses and boatyards.
The Olympic Yacht Show is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, the Ministry of Tourism, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), the Region of Attica, the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and the Municipality of Lavreotiki.

Skipper ONDECK #074 | Summer Special is out!
Skipper ondeck #073 | spring special is out, skipper ondeck #072 | winter 2023-24, skipper ondeck #071 | autumn special, skipper ondeck #070 | summer special, olympic yacht show 2023: greece’s premium in-water show has come to an end.
Held at the facilities of Olympic Marine in Lavrio, the Olympic Yacht Show illustrated its impact on the yachting sector for the third year in a row, closing its gates on Sunday, October 22.
Over four days the unique premium Greek in-water yacht show welcomed more than 15,000 visitors who had the opportunity to get the latest information about the world of yachting by the managers of 100 leading houses and manufacturers and admire 120 new boats from up close in the Show’s floating section. Visitor also enjoyed several national and European premieres that naturally were the focus of attention.
The upward trend in attendance and exhibitor participations at the 3rd Olympic Yacht Show is a token of the avid interest of the Greek market in high quality sea tourism and proves that our country can boast top professionals in the yachting sector. “We believe that the Olympic Yacht Show is a pivotal organisation since it gives us the opportunity to show our boats in their natural environment, the sea. We are gold sponsors to the Show because we believe that organising a floating Yacht Show in Greece is simply of the essence. The efforts of Gerasimos Gerolimatos and the ONDECK team are important for our country and the industry,” stressed Giorgos Riginos, CEO of Riginos SA.
On that note, Kostas Koronakis, CEO of D. Koronakis S.A. also stressed that “just like the previous two years, this year’s 3rd Olympic Yacht Show has posed a challenge for our company. The direct interaction with our clients helped us get valuable feedback and we are now ready to further improve our products for next year. The Olympic Yacht Show was even better than the first two years. I need to focus on the floating section of the exhibition, which, to our satisfaction, has grown even bigger.”
The event has been an international meeting point for people active in the diverse yachting industry; people who had the opportunity to exchange ideas regarding the development of premium sea tourism that promotes our country internationally. The coverage of the show by the international media and the general keen interest in it proved for one more year that the Olympic Yacht Show, which has now won the status of an institution, deserves a place among the equivalent leading European events.
“The Olympic Yacht Show has become an institution, a prospect we already predicted the 1st year it was held. This year we brought to the Show all of the new Saxdor models and visitors had the opportunity to see for the first time in Greece the new 400 that premiered in Monaco. We are very pleased with the attendance and promise to be back in 2024,” stated Nikos Zarifis, Managing Director of Thrace Labea.
As for the significance of the Olympic Yacht Show, Dimitris Deligiannis, Managing Partner of Atalanta Marine , also noted: “Atalanta Marine was the first company to support the Olympic Yacht Show. It is the only Show able to support the boats we represent. For yet another year we have received great feedback from the public, much to our satisfaction.”
The following day found the organizers already kitting out for the 4th Olympic Yacht Show with the managers at Olympic Marine in Lavrio stating that they are ready for an even better show in terms of the services provided. “Olympic Marine’s efforts to improve our services are ongoing and unremitting. We invest in new people and we constantly try to raise the bar,” emphasized Vassilis Priftis, CEO of Olympic Marine.
The curtain of the 3rd Olympic Yacht Show , organized by ONDECK EVENTS, has fallen with both organizers and exhibitors wishing that this premium in-water yacht show continues to be a fruitful platform for the promotion of yachting, a powerful tool for upgrading the tourism product, a plateau for further discussions between professionals and, therefore, a think tank that will not follow trends but create them.
The 3rd Olympic Yacht Show was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, the Ministry of Tourism, the GNTO, the Prefecture of Attica, the Marine Chamber of Greece, the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Greek Marinas Association, the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Municipality of Lavreotiki.

PARIS, FRANCE - AUGUST 10: B-Boy Victor of Team ISA competes with B-Boy Shigekix of Team Japan in ... [+] the Breaking B-Boys Bronze Medal Battle at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. (Photo by Steph Chambers)
Victor Montalvo , also known as B-boy Victor, has a wealth of titles to his name. Recently, the 30-year-old Floridian bagged his biggest win yet: a bronze medal in Paris 2024 Olympic Men’s Breaking representing Team USA .
Victor’s team invited me to meet him after this momentous achievement, and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ask him about the Olympics , his personal breaking style, and what’s next on his agenda.
Inside Look at the Olympic Experience
On his way to bronze, Victor fought to the top of Group A in the round robin stage, then beat out Kazakhstan’s Amir in the quarterfinals, lost to French favorite Dany Dann in the semifinals, and finally triumphed over Japan’s Shigekix in the third place battle.
While supporters in the stands may have been on pins and needles during that last battle, Victor was owning it: “I was feeling great, I was on that stage like ‘this floor is mine.’ I gave it my all, and you can see it in my face, you can see it in my dance. This is my one and only chance to redeem myself.”
Interestingly, Victor’s favorite battle wasn’t the one that won him an Olympic medal. It was his quarterfinal bout with Amir where he felt he gave his best. In round one, reversing out of a power combo to nail a freeze sequence, then throwing a passionate fist skyward was all the evidence we needed. As a breaker, sharing your new creations and executing them to perfection is one of the greatest rewards for the hard work it takes to get there.

That’s where he keeps his list of moves, and although he didn’t get to show them all, he was glad to create spontaneous moments. In addition to having pockets for phones, a breaker’s pants must be both stylish and functional for movement. Victor says he loved his choice for the Olympics, a pair of white lightweight nylon trousers from Korean fashion brand CARNET-ARCHIVE .
The “Victor Style” and What Breaking is All About
Although soft-spoken, Victor expresses himself with intensity and clarity through his dance. He describes his approach as focusing on the form and the details: “where your hands are placed, because for me, that's super important. You can't be dragging your feet while you're breaking, looking all sloppy.” Even with this emphasis on the small things, Victor’s repertoire has an abundance of crowd pleasers, which have personalized names like “swirl,” “compass,” or “Super Montalvo.”
No matter where he competes, the seasoned breaker is always seeking “those small moments where you just blank out and you don't remember what you did, but you get up and you see the crowd going crazy…And those moments to me are the most exciting. It's like you had a plan, but then that plan just goes out the window and you just reach a level where you just your body takes over. The music takes over.”
Victor has words of advice for up-and-coming breakers who share the search for those moments of pure expression and gratification. In his words, “Every move you do, do it with conviction. Believe in your moves. Believe in yourself. Because then that projects to the crowd, you know…Enjoy the moment.”
Understanding the foundation of the dance and the culture is another key to success. “You understand the foundation, from there you can take it anywhere. It's like learning the rules to then break the rules.” According to Victor, a few references to start with are K-Mel, Flea Rock, Rock Steady Crew, and Roxrite .
What’s Next for the Bronze Medal Winner
So after returning home with an Olympic medal, what’s Victor’s next move? For starters, he’s looking forward to enjoying breaking again–”doing it for the love,” as he puts it, to get back in touch with why he started dancing in the first place. Other items on the list include training Muay Thai in Thailand and perhaps enrolling in pilot school. Whatever he sets his mind to, Victor is sure to bring his tenacity and eye for detail to that new endeavor.

While breaking will unfortunately not be part of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics , there are plenty of options for those who want to experience breaking live and direct. For instance, the Red Bull BC One National USA Cypher will take place in Los Angeles’ Venice Beach on September 28. Other events, even at the local level, are often promoted on Facebook, Instagram, and so on.

Photos show the biggest moments of the 2024 Paris Olympics
- The 2024 Paris Olympics were held from July 26 to August 11.
- Getty Images photographers captured memorable moments across competitions.
- This story is part of " Road to Paris ," a series chronicling athletes' and spectators' experiences at the Olympic Games.
The 2024 Paris Olympics concluded on August 11 after 19 days of sporting events.
Athletes from 206 territories competed in a range of disciplines, resulting in come-from-behind victories, viral moments , and world records .
In an email to Business Insider, Getty Images photographers shared the stories behind some of the iconic photos they took at the Paris Olympics.
Here are some of the biggest moments from the 2024 Olympic Games, narrated by the photographers who captured them.
On the first day of the Olympics, Michael Reaves photographed Peter Spens, an artist commissioned to paint volleyball matches.
"Coming into the Games, I was looking forward to shooting at this venue as the renderings looked incredible from the court positioned at the base of the famed Eiffel Tower," Reaves said.
Up in the stands, Reaves encountered Spens, an artist commissioned by the International Volleyball Federation to paint original works during the competition.
Reaves said he "thought it provided a very 'French' scene."
Robert Cianflone photographed the US women's soccer team celebrating after winning gold against Brazil.
"Team USA was overwhelmed with emotion after a hard-fought game and coming back on top after their performance last Olympics and World Cup last year," Cianflone said. "It's a new era for women's soccer in the US, and it was special to see and capture how much this meant to all of them!"
Patrick Smith found an angle above the field to photograph the first round of the women's 100-meter race "with the light just perfect," he said.
"One of the most challenging things to do as a sports photographer is to find an image no one else has," Smith said. "Often confined by limitations on movements, finding a unique image is the gold standard."
Jamie Squire's photo from the women's team gymnastics final shows Jordan Chiles competing on the balance beam.
The US women's gymnastics team won gold in the all-around final.
"Gymnastics photos can be graceful, powerful, athletic, and artistic all in the same frame," Squire said. "Here we see Jordan Chiles competing during the team final, and she embodies so much strength and elegance. The Paris 2024 branding and colors really bring the photo together."
Tim de Waele positioned himself perfectly to photograph the women's road race passing by the Louvre.
"It's not every day we get to see such a clean image without anything else around, especially in summer when this area is normally overwhelmed by tourists," de Waele said.
Cameron Spencer captured an impressive maneuver during a women's rugby match.
"In this image, Emily Lane of Ireland is being lifted by her teammate to catch the ball off a kickoff, with the aim to get to the ball before the opposition can, so height plays a massive advantage," Spencer said.
"I shoot a lot of rugby and have covered plenty of sevens rugby over the years, too. However, I have never seen a player actually flip upside down completely while being raised in the air. It makes a unique, powerful, and graceful image of a rare moment in rugby."
Al Bello spent two days getting the lighting just right to photograph men's fencing at the Grand Palais.
"There are many things that did not line up at first," Bello said. "The light was not right, the judges kept walking in the way, I could not get to the position I wanted, and I also needed to have the fencers compete on center stage, which does not happen until the finals at the night session. Then, for a very short time span, all the elements lined up."
Smith took this photo of Tara Davis-Woodhall in the women's long-jump final with a remote camera set up by the sand pit.
"You can see the direct impact of hitting the sand and how much power she exudes in this world-record-breaking moment," Smith said.
Davis-Woodhall won the gold medal with a jump of 7.1 meters, or over 23 feet.
Steph Chambers waited until the Olympic logo was visible on a table-tennis ball to photograph the North Korean player Kum Yong Kim.
"Oftentimes I don't get lucky," Chambers said, "but when I do it's quite rewarding."
It took a team of photographers to capture the Turkish volleyball player Eda Erdem from above.
"Much like indoor volleyball, our work at Getty Images is absolutely a team job," Christian Petersen said. "This image was captured by a remote camera set up over the court by staff photographer Richard Heathcote. During the match I was using a remote trigger to capture the action, and editors picked it out and made a fantastic crop.
"I love the simplicity of this as the setter puts the ball in a perfect spot for Eda Erdem to open up and hit it," Petersen said. "It's clean, well-balanced, colorful, and as a team, we nailed it."
Getty Images photographers projected photos on buildings throughout Paris during the Olympics, including one of the American track star Noah Lyles winning gold.
"Throughout the Paris Games, we have been working on a creative project called Parisienne Projections," the photographer Ryan Pierse said. "Each night we'd find a new location to project an iconic Olympic moment and bring it to the streets and buildings of Paris for people to enjoy. This one was taken following the men's 100-meter final, where Noah Lyles of Team USA celebrates his epic win with big emotion and an American flag draped over him."
Another Parisienne Projections display showed Simone Biles competing on the uneven bars.
"The host city of the Games is such a pivotal part of the event, and each night a team of us has been going out into the streets to project photos throughout the city for people to see the Games through a unique lens," Carmen Mandato said.
In this composite image, part of a series titled "Layers of the Games," Hector Vivas layered key moments from a men's soccer match between Paraguay and Mali.
"With 'Layers of the Games,' what I do is put a fixed camera shooting at the most important moments of a game or a day of competition, and then in postproduction I place the layers of the photos on top of each other until I achieve this effect," Vivas said. "It shows the action, emotion, and movement through one half of the field."
Alex Pantling captured Argentina's Agustin Mazzilli and Australia's Eddie Ockenden battling for the ball during a men's field-hockey match.
Australia won the match 1-0.
"Hockey can be a very abstract sport, and the athletes constantly seem to make interesting shapes with their bodies and sticks," Pantling said. "I find shooting the sport from an elevated position increases your chances of getting an interesting picture. That was proven here in the men's match between Australia and Argentina as the two players stretched to control the ball and win possession for their team."
This image of the US equestrian Elisabeth Halliday competing at the Palace of Versailles embodies everything the photographer Buda Mendes loves about the Olympics.
"What I tried most on this day was to find a balance between this amazing sport, the beauty of the course, and the photographic technique looking for the best light," Mendes said. "This photo embodies all three."
Justin Setterfield photographed kayak cross, a new Olympic event where kayakers race four at a time.
"It was a challenge to find a position where you could get all athletes in one image, as they split up quickly," Setterfield said.
The photographer Elsa had a feeling that Biles and Chiles would do something special during the floor-exercise medal ceremony where the Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade won gold.
"What I love about his image is it shows what the Olympics and especially gymnastics are all about — athletes supporting one another," Elsa said. "To me, this image embodies the Olympic spirit perfectly."
Spencer said this shot of Lyles crossing the finish line to win the gold medal was "premeditated."
"The camera was focused just after the finish line, hoping Lyles would win and celebrate," Spencer said. "What unfolded was the closest 100-meter final in Olympics history with Lyles winning in 0.005 of a second."
Ezra Shaw found that it was worth arriving early to photograph Olympic events with this image of the French skateboarder Emilie Alexandre.
"I wanted to scout the park for the best photo positions, but also wanted to take advantage of the morning sun and shadows on the park for any possible images," Shaw said. "By the time the event started, all the shadows on the park were completely gone and this picture of Emilie Alexandre of Team France would not have been possible."
Rob Carr used a robotic camera above the men's wrestling ring to capture Mohammadhadi Saravi of Iran's ecstatic backflips upon winning gold.
"After Saravi won, he circled the mat celebrating, and I positioned the camera directly over the field of play hoping he would celebrate over the Olympic logo," Carr said. "He started doing flips on the mat from the far left and came to the center, where he performed one more to punctate his win in the dead center."
Sometimes Olympic photographers capture devastating moments, like Michelle Jenneke's fall in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
"The Australian Michelle Jenneke clipped one hurdle then crashed into the next before getting up and finishing," Richard Heathcote said. "The frame shows the heaviest part of her crash as she tumbles towards the next hurdle with the other athletes around her trying to avoid being taken out as well."
Lars Baron spent long days sitting on the floor to get the best angles while photographing men's handball.
"Handball is one of my favorite sports," Baron said. "I love the speed and the tough action during competition."
David Ramos described the men's road race as "one of the best days of cycling I have ever covered."
"The atmosphere in the streets of Montmartre was simply spectacular," Ramos said. "My task that day was to find a spot in Montmartre, outside of the photographers' assigned positions, that summed up the environment of this area of Paris — narrow streets, small shops and cafés."
Realizing he needed more height to capture the perfect shot, Ramos bought a ladder and sat on it for six hours until the runners arrived.
"The street got more and more crowded, and I ended up surrounded by hundreds of fans singing and drinking!" he said.
Alex Broadway photographed racers in the BMX racing semifinals as the competition began.
"I really liked the BMX graphic on the start ramp, so I wanted to get a frame with all the riders in the air on the first jump and the graphic in the background," Broadway said.
Chambers photographed the US runner Gabrielle Thomas realizing she won gold in the women's 200-meter final.
"Gabby Thomas of Team USA was filled with emotion after crossing the finish line to win gold during the women's 200-meter final," Chambers said. "She settled for bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, so you could see how much this meant to her and how special it was to be an Olympic champion."
Richard Pelham said he couldn't have asked for a more "perfectly timed punch" at an Olympic boxing match.
"As a photographer, you cover the action in that three-minute round, capturing the boxers trading blows," Pelham said. "In that split second, the biggest punch connects, and from experience, you know you have a special image."
"Poise, beauty, intensity, and resolve are perfect adjectives to describe this legend," Petersen said of photographing Biles.
Petersen took this photo of Biles during the individual all-around competition, which she won.
"In her final routine, she soared around the floor and eventually just past the rings on the wall," Petersen said. "I was able to capture her at the peak of a jump from an elevated position with a long lens. Ultimately, I am very happy with the image and forever grateful for the experience."
For the women's individual triathlon, Michael Steele photographed the start, transition, and finish area around the Pont Alexandre III.
"Squeezed into a narrow position up against a metal railing, I managed to capture the long line of cyclists set against the Place des Invalides, which made the image even more picturesque," Steele said.
Maddie Meyer captured Léon Marchand of France's gold-medal finish in the men's 200-meter breaststroke.
"Marchand had a significant lead, so I stayed focused on him as he finished the race," Meyer said. "He turned towards the crowd and the clock, slamming his arm into the water, creating a graphic splash behind him. This image stood out to me because often the water will cover the swimmer's face, but I love the way it acts as a background emphasizing his celebration."
Carr used a robotic camera above a judo match to capture the South Korean competitor's disappointment with the result.
"I was able to follow the two athletes on the robotic camera as the match ended and zoomed in to 50 mm to fill the frame showing the emotion of the contest," Carr said. "The contrasting colors of the floor and their uniforms also make the image striking."
Dan Mullan said this photo of Andrade on the vault was one of his favorite images from the Paris Olympics.
"I was waiting for an athlete to perform this type of vault, as you get to see their face pointing towards the camera," Mullan said.
Mullan added that Andrade looked "controlled, powerful, and poised" during her vault.
Phil Walter timed his photo perfectly to capture Australia's women's skiff team riding a wave in the Olympic sailing event.
Walter photographed Team Australia during their warm-ups.
"This photo works well due to the splash of the wave curving around the sail of the boat while the Australian flag on the sail and the sailors are still visible in the photo," Walter said.
The Australian swimmer Ariarne Titmus defeated the US's Katie Ledecky in the women's 400-meter freestyle, photographed by Adam Pretty.
Pretty used an underwater robotic camera to capture the race's start and finish.
"This was a race I had been looking forward to for a long time — possibly the greatest-ever female swimmer, Ariarne Titmus, up against the Olympic champion Katie Ledecky ," Pretty said.
Baron photographed skateboarding, a newer Olympic sport, in Paris.
"I enjoy shooting the classic Olympic sports like weightlifting or wrestling, but I also enjoy covering the newer events to the Games like skateboarding," Baron said.
Baron watched the skaters' first runs to determine the best position for photographing the event.
"The sun and blue sky and also the cool attitude and outfit of Brazilian star Rayssa Leal made the picture even better," he said.
Bello captured the joy of victory and the sting of defeat in this image from the men's foil individual final.
"This was a tightly contested match that was tied 14-14, and with the next point deciding the gold medal, I chose to keep both athletes in the frame," Bello said.
"I knew there was going to be emotion from the winner and loser of this match. My hunch was luckily correct, as the winner threw his helmet in the air and raised his arms in victory while the loser slowly peeled his helmet off his face in defeat."
Another "Layers of the Games" image taken by Vivas shows Eiffel Tower Stadium at sunset.
"In our minds, we had visualized a great sunset that day, and the day was cloudy and rainy," Vivas said. "Luckily, in the last moments of the afternoon, the sky cleared and allowed us to do what we already had in our minds."
Quinn Rooney used an underwater robotic camera to photograph divers at the women's synchronized springboard final.
"This angle shows the bubble trail from where the divers entered and the force of their trajectory through the water as they try to slow themselves down and make their bubble entry as small as possible," Rooney said. "I love the shape of the divers in this particular image as they make their way back up to the light."
Jared C. Tilton sought the best angle to photograph the Olympic rings reflected in the Canadian cyclist Nick Wammes' visor.
To make this shot possible, Tilton had to sit in an open spectator seat.
"I waited until there was a session that had an available spectator seat from where I needed to be to capture this photo," Tilton said.
Sean M. Haffey called photographing Olympic surfing events in Tahiti "a dream assignment."
"Surfing in Tahiti lends itself to beautiful photos, but it requires a lot of conditions to come together at the right time," Haffey said. "Weather, wave height, and the athlete's ability all play a major role. In this photo of Kauli Vaast, I was fortunate to have all three."
Squire's photo of Harry Hepworth shows the British gymnast mid-dismount during the men's qualification.
"Traditionally, rings pictures show a tight close-up of the gymnast with flexed muscles as they control their body weight on the apparatus," Squire said. "I decided to shoot wider and from below as I realized I could line up the athletes with the lights and also show how high they are off the ground."
In this photo by Clive Brunskill, the tennis legends Andy Murray and Dan Evans celebrated their win in the first round of men's doubles.
"The celebrations went in the family-box direction, but suddenly he turned and Dan hugged him as he let out a scream of joy," Brunskill said of Murray. "He was in the perfect place for me in front of the Olympic rings! I couldn't believe my luck — the picture was the only one with rings in the background."

Exclusive details, usa flag football quarterback claims he’s ‘better than patrick mahomes’: ‘i know more’.
Patrick Mahomes threw a flag on the play.
Earlier Wednesday, flag football quarterback Darrell Doucette spoke to TMZ about how he would be not only a great fit for USA’s flag football team in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, but that he also would be a better signal-caller than the Chiefs star.
“At the end of the day, I feel like I’m better than Patrick Mahomes because of my IQ of the game,” he told the outlet. “I know right now he’s the best in the [NFL], I know he’s more accurate, I know he’s got all these intangibles. But when it comes to flag football, I feel like I know more than him.”
https://t.co/yY7fYXCfF3 pic.twitter.com/LONXJPkPYK — Patrick Mahomes II (@PatrickMahomes) August 21, 2024
Mahomes took to X later in the day, quoting a video snippet of Doucette with a GIF of rapper 50 Cent in which he said, “I’m like what he say f–k me for.”
Last November, Mahomes expressed interest in competing for Team USA when the Olympics comes stateside in four years.
“I definitely want to. But I’ve seen some of those guys play the flag football. They’re a little faster than I am,” he told reporters then. “I know there’s not like linemen blocking for you. I’ll be 31, 32 years old.
“So if I can still move around then, I’m going to try to get out there and throw the football around maybe in LA.”
Doucette, as a quarterback on USA’s flag football national team, has helped the squad win a slew of titles, including the 2021 IFAF Men’s Flag Football World Championship, the 2022 World Games and the 2023 Americas Continental Flag Football Championship.
In the latter tournament, he was named the MVP.
Doucette later added to TMZ that he was not trying to claim that he was an overall better football player than the two-time All-Pro, but specifically in the flag version of the game, which comes with a smaller field.
“I’m not saying I’m a better player overall but until he steps on a 5v5 flag field, I’m going to feel that way until it’s proven otherwise! I’m a competitor and need to be proven wrong,” he told the outlet. “This is a totally different game.”
Doucette has made headlines recently, telling the Guardian over the weekend that NFL players desiring to play for the Olympic squad won’t have it easy.
“We just don’t think they’re going to be able to walk on the field and make the Olympic team because of the name, right?” Doucette said . “They still have to go out there and compete.”

Paris Olympics 'beyond my wildest dreams' for Auburn sprinter
After leading Auburn to a runner-up finish at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships, four Tiger sprinters competed in the Paris Olympics, including Maka Charamba, the flag bearer for Zimbabwe
Makanakaishe Charamba
AUBURN, Ala. – Bearing the flag of his native Zimbabwe during opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics, Auburn sprinter Makanakaishe Charamba floated by boat down the River Seines to the Gardens of the Trocadero in France.
“Lifting up my flag and waving it around on camera,” Charamba said. “Probably one of the best experiences of the Games.”
Charamba attended a meeting before the ceremonies that included USA flagbearers Lebron James and Coco Gauff, then saw James’ and his All-Star teammates on the USA men’s basketball team during their visit to the Olympic Village.
“I’m with these guys now,” he said. “The dream is coming true now. Walking around the Village and seeing people like Lebron James. It definitely made me feel like I belonged there, and I believe in the future, I’ll probably be up there.”
Charamba proved he belonged in Paris by advancing to the final of the men’s 200m dash.
“Execute my own race and leave everything else to God,” said Charabma, a student in Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business. “Never really thought I was going to make the final. The goal going there was just to have fun. Whatever happens happens.”
After finishing second in the first round and third in his semifinal, Charamba finished eighth in the final.
“A great experience,” he said. “My journey surpassed my expectations. Walking into the stadium and seeing my name on the boards was a crazy experience. This is the whole world watching.
“The audience is bigger than the NCAA audience. The nerves and tensions are high because you are facing the world’s best.”
Three of Charamba’s sprint teammates from Auburn’s 2024 NCAA runner-up team joined him in Paris: Kanyinsola Ajayi and Favour Ashe from Nigeria, and Azeem Fahmi from Malaysia.
“A great pleasure and achievement for me, representing my country on the big stage,” Ajayi said. “A privilege to represent my school, too.”
After coming within a few hundredths of a second of winning the NCAA title, the Auburn sprinters are already planning an encore.
“I feel like 2025 will be a great season for us,” Ajayi said. “We’re going to try to keep the synergy and win the national title. Iron sharpens iron. If you want to get fast, you have to train with people who are faster than you so they can push you to that limit. It’s really helped me a lot.”
“We have raised the Auburn standard,” Charamba said. “We’ll use that momentum from this year to carry us. We want to make this a championship team. We’re still in the process of building but after next year, I believe it’s going to be one of those teams where people are going to say, ‘Auburn is here.’”
Reaching the Olympic final fuels Charamba for continued success.
“A huge confidence booster,” he said. “In the future, I don’t think I’ll be scared of anything because I ran in the Olympic Games and made the final, and now I’m regarded as the eighth fastest man in the world. Going forward, I don’t think I’m going to be nervous about anything because I’ve faced the best of the best.”
Charamba’s Olympic year got off to a slow start, when he failed to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Heading into the outdoor season, Auburn sprints coach Ken Harnden sought to reassure Maka, as Charamba’s teammates call him, that better times were ahead.
“’Trust me and miracles are going to happen,’” Charamba recalls Harnden telling him. “I trusted him, trusted the process and was patient with everything. Things worked out. It was a blessing.”
Once their Auburn careers conclude, the sprinters hope to return to the Olympics in 2028 in Los Angeles.
“That has been my dream since childhood to compete with the fastest guys in the world,” Ajayi said. “It motivates me to keep working. Don’t relent. You need to keep working so you can get to that stage.”
But first, they hope to make another title run next season on the Plains.
“The work we put in and the belief and trust we have in each other,” Ajayi said. “You can achieve this if you are focused. Everything came together for us.”
“We were trying to show the world that Auburn was coming,” Charamba said. “It’s showing the world that we’re coming up and we’re about to be a force to be reckoned with.”
In the three years since he left Zimbabwe, Maka Charamba has won NCAA D-II championships in the 100m and 200m, a D-I championship at Auburn in the 4x100m relay and a team NCAA runner-up finish. Then came Paris, making the Olympic final and bearing the flag for his homeland.
“Beyond my wildest dreams,” Charamba said. “Coming to Auburn and winning a national championship in my first year in the 4x100, this journey has been beyond my expectations.”
