Frequently asked questions, when should i arrive for the tour.

To make sure you catch your tour without a hitch, we suggest arriving 45 minutes ahead of your scheduled time. Being prompt helps us kick things off on time for everyone’s enjoyment. Unfortunately, if you’re late and miss the boat, we won’t be able to offer refunds.  Your understanding is greatly appreciated!

Where is the pickup location?

Our boat launch spot is right at 1 Holomoana Street. If you know the Prince Waikiki Hotel, you’re close! Our slip is just to the West (Ewa) of their valet area. Keep an eye out for our big Pink Sails banner waving in the breeze—it’ll guide you straight to us. And for a detailed map and directions, hop over to our website!

Where do I park?

We’ve got some convenient parking options for you at the harbor! Right next to our boat slips, there are paid parking stalls charging just $1 per hour. If those are full, the Waikiki Prince Hotel has valet parking nearby. Plus, you can park at Chart House or Red Lobster, both a quick 3-minute walk from the dock.

But heads up, during busy times like weekends or holidays, snagging a spot can be a challenge. It’s smart to plan ahead or consider hopping in a taxi or using a rideshare service. Oh, and a friendly reminder: please avoid parking in the yellow spaces to steer clear of any towing troubles. We want your visit to be smooth sailing!

What should we bring?

Don’t forget your sunblock and hat if the sun’s not your best friend. For our snorkeling or swimming tours, a towel will come in handy. Oh, and grab your camera and a card for drinks, souvenirs, and tips – it’s gonna be a blast!

Sometimes the weather can be a bit unpredictable, and for the safety and comfort of our guests, we might have to cancel tours. But don’t worry! The Holokai is a beautiful, custom-designed, handcrafted 49 passenger beach catamaran. She was commissioned and splashed in 2015. Holokai is equipped with spacious seating, netted splash area, Bluetooth sound system and a clean and comfortable bathroom. Our professional, fun and accommodating captains and crew are on hand to provide 5-star service and the most memorable experience on the waters of Waikiki!

We have a bar on board with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Beverage options include: juice, water, soda; Bud Light; Corona; a variety of premium craft beers from Maui Brewing Company; a pinot grigio wine; a champagne; assorted hard seltzers; and our house cocktail the famous “Holokai Hooch” consisting of: passion orange guava juice, peach schnapps, and dark Hawaiian rum- a favorite with all our guests!Please keep in mind that all liquor laws apply to our vessel and outside alcohol is prohibited from being brought onboard. We had a great time at the turtle canyon morning snorkel tour. The crew was super friendly and helpful and it was very safe, even you had never snorkeled before you could enjoy this. We saw half a dozen different turtles, surfacing and all. Awesome experience.

I would highly recommend doing this private charter during your stay in Honolulu! Sam and Nick were an awesome team and made this experience one we will remember! Not only did we see sea turtles but we saw several pods of dolphins right under our feet. This is much more relaxing than the lager group tour and they were able to accommodate for pregnant women and guest prone to sea sickness! If you are on the fence, just book it! You won’t be disappointed

Hands down the best catamaran experience my family and I have ever had! Captain Sam and Deckhand Nick were amazing!! The cost is a steal! Having an entire vessel to ourselves with great laughs between us and the captain and deckhand were great memories not to mention the unforgettable sunset and beautiful sea life we got to see. We will 1000% do this again and next time book a longer ride!

This was in fact amazing. My family of 5 had a private catamaran with 2 of the nicest guys. Captain was super friendly and then our snorkeling guide was awesome. Took us to see spinner dolphins, turtles, fish and even some eels. They really went above and beyond and made us feel so welcome. All gear was provided, the goggles and fins. It is bring your own food or drinks (they do have soda and water). After snorkeling they took us over by Diamond Head. One of the highlights of our trip. I highly recommend this.

Our multi generation family of 5 ranging in ages from 12 years to 74 years had a wonderful, life memorable experience. The crew were exceptional, very caring to all. Taking the time to know our needs and wishes for the cruise. They supported us in the water to come up close with the sea turtles and let the kids play their music as we sailed around. The whole time was centred on what our family wanted to see and do and nothing was too much trouble. I can not recommend this experience highly enough. It was the best experience of our holiday in Hawaii. Thank you

• Meet Ke Kai Catamaran (Yellow & Purple Boat) on Waikiki Beach, right in front of Duke's Restaurant beachside of the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort. Tours begin boarding 30 minutes before the timed departure. Please show up at least 30 minutes prior to departure time.

Parking information

• Waikiki Parking Recommendation: Paid parking is available at Outrigger Waikiki/Duke's Valet, the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Centre Parkade, or the International Market Place. Parking validation is NOT available.
• Waikiki has many events and we strongly recommend that guests check for road closures, parades, and events and plan ahead to prevent missed reservations.

• This activity is not wheelchair accessible.
• If less than 6 participants are booked, the activity may not operate.
• Children of all ages can participate in this activity.
• All participants must know how to swim to participate on the snorkel cruise. Refunds will not be given to participants who cannot swim during this activity.
• Guests under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. If you fail to meet the requirement, there will be no refunds.
• For safety reasons, guests are not allowed to wear full- faced snorkeling masks.

• Wear swimsuit under clothing
• All guests must be at least 21 years old with a valid government issued photo ID to consume any alcoholic beverages. Guests with questionable forms of identification may be required to show a secondary photo I.D. with a birth date.
• Guests who are prone to seasickness should take a motion sickness preventative one hour prior to departure.

• On rare days of extreme surf and dangerous shore break, we will operate out of our alternate location at Kewalo Basin Harbor (1125 Ala Moana Blvd). Our agents will notify you for this circumstance and offer different options to accommodate the change in location.

Overall rating

Not really worth it. Drinks are not offered until after you get out of the water. Kinda lame. But safety first, I get it. Ticket says 3 beverages. By the time you're out of the water and get a drink from the bar, you h ... ave about 15 minutes out on the water before getting back to the beach. I ordered two drinks and didn't have time to finish my second beverage. And you can't take them off the boat with you. I saw two turtles. Water is not very clear and you are crowded by so many other tours. You are required to wear a life jacket the whole time, so you can't even dive down to take a closer look at the turtles. They're about 30 feet below you. One did surface, so that was cool. Staff were super unenthusiastic. Yes, you're working. You live here. We're tourist, whatever. But at least smile. It's like none of them have ever traveled before. This is a bucket list adventure for some people. Maybe show some passion. The male guide couldn't project his voice whatsoever and had zero excitement in his voice when going over safety measures. The female guard also struggled with public speaking and wrapped it up with "I tried my best to make sure you all saw a turtle, if you didn't, that's your fault." The only person on the boat who deserved part of the tip I left was the good looking thor dude. He was at least friendly. Mahalo to you. Also. They advertise two hammock like seating areas. A couple scored the first one. The other one was occupied with thier equipment. I kindly asked if they could move it over 4 feet so I could sit there and the girl said no. I arrived early just to claim that spot. I was not the only person to ask, either. Maybe don't put the equipment in the most desirable area to sit? Would not book again.

Couldn't get tickets for Hanauma Bay, so chose this instead. Sent two 30-somethings on the excursion. They loved it! Saw several large turtles and lots of fish. Leaving off the beach is a plus since we were already layin ... g out there. short and sweet and easy!

This was one of my favorite activities on Oahu! We loved the sail. We even got lucky and saw dolphins and turtles! My family loved every minute of it. Captain Woody and the rest of the crew were so helpful and friendly!

We did the snorkeling tour and it was great! Captain John, Curtis and the crew were all super nice full and of knowledge. On top of seeing turtles we also saw dolphins!

We found this Sunset Cruise and chose it because it is a bit smaller than most and it is BYOB. It picks up right on the beach and the crew was great.

Waikiki Private Sailing Tour Details

Embark on a truly exclusive and intimate experience with a private catamaran cruise on Oahu. Glide through the pristine waters of the Pacific aboard your chartered 30-foot catamaran, where you and your group can enjoy uninterrupted views of southern Oahu, Waikiki Beach, and the iconic Honolulu skyline.

This is a nice way to experience Oahu away from the crowds and it is fun to have the boat to yourselves for sightseeing, snorkeling, and just hanging out and enjoying the ocean. The luxury catamaran is a comfortable and smooth ride, making it a great choice if you suffer from motion sickness. Shaded cabin seating and onboard bathrooms are available throughout your trip.

A knowledgeable and experienced crew will share their local knowledge and the cultural history of the area throughout the cruise. You also get the chance to snorkel at a reef commonly home to sea turtles and tropical fish.

Hawaii Ocean Charters also offers snorkeling and two evening experiences on your private catamaran: a sunset cruise and/or Fireworks show. The sunset cruise encompasses the same tour and snorkeling experience described above but leaves later in the day so you can enjoy the sunset while still out on the ocean. The fireworks show occurs only on Friday evening, and includes a beautiful short but sweet ~5 min show with breathtaking views of Waikiki’s city lights. 

Sunset Tours

Standard sunset tours (no fireworks) run Sat-Thurs, times vary slightly throughout the year based on sunset. Friday sunset tours are booked through the Fireworks tour button.

All tours include snorkeling and can be booked in 2-, 3-, or 4-hour timeslots!

Convenient Departure

Tours leave from Kewalo Basin Harbor, just 3.5 miles (15min drive) from Waikiki with the first departure of the day at 7:15 am and the last departure between 4:00-5:30 pm (depending on sunset).

Children are welcome on these tours! There is no age restriction on private tours, so bring your little ones if you know they’ll love it!

Is transportation provided .

No, transportation is not provided to the Kewalo Basin Harbor. You will need to find your transportation to get to the Kewalo Basin Harbor. Taxis and Uber/Lyft are easy to come by in Waikiki!

Are food and drinks provided?

Soft drinks are provided, but food is not provided. You are welcome to bring food and drinks (alcohol too!) or you can choose to have your food catered by one of their catering partners (please inform them ahead of time so they can plan to have the food ready the day of your cruise).

Do I need to know how to swim and is snorkeling gear provided?

Please note that swimming is a required skill to participate in the in-water portion of the tour. Snorkeling gear and flotation devices are provided on the tour. Please note snorkeling is a physically strenuous activity and requires participants to be in good health. 

Is the catamaran suitable for those with mobility issues?

Unfortunately, the charter may not be suitable for those with mobility issues and is not wheelchair accessible. 

Cancellation policy?

There is a 48-hour cancellation policy. Any cancellations outside of 48 hours from your departure can be 100% refunded. Refunds are not given within 48 hours unless they can rebook your charter, then a refund is assessed minus a service fee.

About krasnoyarsk.

Krasnoyarsk is the administrative center of Krasnoyarsk Krai of Russia, and the third largest city in Siberia with the population of 927200 people (2007). Krasnoyarsk is located 4096 km from Moscow at the river Yenisei and it is an important junction on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

Krasnoyarsk was founded in July of 1628 as a Russian border fort. The group of people led by the Cossack Andrey Dubenskoy arrived to the confluence of the Kacha River with the Yenisei River and constructed fortifications intended to protect the frontier from attacks of native peoples who lived along Yenisei and its tributaries. The fort had been named "Krasny Yar") after the local Turkic name of the place it was built by: "Kyzyl Yar", meaning "Red Ore" or "Krasny Yar" in Old Russian. The name "Krasnoyarsk" was later given when the village of Krasnyy Yar had received town status. An intensive growth of Krasnoyarsk began with the arrival of the Moscow Postroad (the road M53 nowadays) in 1735 to 1741 which connected the nearby towns of Achinsk and Kansk with Krasnoyarsk and with the rest of Russia. Growth continued with the discovery of gold and the arrival of a railroad in 1895.

After the Russian Revolution of 1917 during the periods of centralized planning (pyatiletkas) numerous large plants and factories were constructed in Krasnoyarsk: Sibtyazhmash, the dock yard, the paper factory, the hydroelectric power station (now the fifth largest in the world and the second in Russia), and the river port. In 1934, the second largest Russian administrative division, Krasnoyarsk Krai, was formed. Krasnoyarsk was established as the administrative center. During World War II dozens of factories were evacuated from Ukraine and Western Russia to Krasnoyarsk and nearby towns, stimulating the industrial growth of the city. After the war additional large plants were constructed: the aluminum plant, the metallurgic plant, the plant of base metals and many others.

Today there are more than 150 enterprises here exporting their products to dozens of countries all over the world. Krasnoyarsk possesses a high level of scientific potential: there are more than 50 academicians and associates of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 47 research and development institutes, 12 higher educational institutions. Nowadays Krasnoyarsk is a rich cultural center. There are 8 theaters, 5 museums, 100 public libraries, 67 clubs and culture houses. 

Krasnoayrsk is very beautiful city, there are many historical buildings of different centuries, monuments, museums, fountains, squares. The most popular place of attraction for tourists visiting Krasnoyarsk is the huge national nature reserve Stolby or the Rock Pillars. Stolby covers an area of 470 km² with numerous giant granite rocks formations up to 100 meters high, many of very extraordinary shapes. Stolby is also a major rock climbing location, many local climbers intentionally do not use any belaying equipment and call their extreme sport "stolbizm", which is known around the world as solo climbing. Other popular showplaces include the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station dam, the Karaulnaya Gora hill with the Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Chapel, museums, theaters, etc.

Excursion to the Krasnoyarsk Local Lore museum, 1,5 hours

The Local Lore museum of Krasnoyarsk is the oldest museum of Siberia and Russia. It was founded in 1889 by U.P. Matveev – a representative of the intelligentsia and was opened after total reconstruction in 2001. This museum is a pearl of Siberia, it’s the best museum among historical and ethnographic museums in Russia. 

Excursion to Divnogorsk with visit to the Krsanoyasrk Hydroelectric Power Station, 3,5 hours

The guests who arrive in Krasnoyarsk admire the mighty Yenissei and the boundless taiga situated near the city. The river is formed by the confluence of the Big and the Small Yenisei in the Tuva Republic. The Yenisei is 3 487 kilometers long. The river basin area is 2 580 000 square meters. This is the fullest river in Russia, the average water outlay reaches 19 800 cubic meters per second.

Excursion to Stolby Nature Reserve, 6 hours

It is often said in Krasnoyarsk: “If you have been to the city but didn’t visit the Stolby Mountains you didn’t really see the heart of the city or its soul”. This fascinating excursion will take you to the famous Stolby (Pillars) reserve, which is located not far from Krasnoyarsk on the right bank of the Yenisei river. Its total area is 47 000 hectares. You will pass by rocks of whimsical forms named - Lion Gates, The Old Man, The Miter, Feathers, Takmak. Altogether there are 100 of them; some rocks reach 100 m in height.
