Ahead of the start of the most prestigious motorsports event of the year, a spectacle of superyachts have flocked to Monaco and have been spotted in and around Port Hercules. Fans of Formula One and UHNWI alike can indulge in the most exceptional displays of innovation and luxury; from show-stopping cars to breathtaking superyachts.

This year’s Monaco Grand Prix is being held from the 24th to the 26th of May at the Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo. It’s an event which draws in spectators from all across the globe: a thrilling sporting occasion which is heavily associated with luxury. It is only fitting that such an event attracts an array of spectacular superyachts, as Owners and charterers wish to immerse themselves in this sensational event that takes place in one of the world’s top yachting hotspots. 

Over 60 pleasure vessels are currently docked in Monaco ahead of the start of the Grand Prix, of which we take a look at five of the most spectacular and notable names. 

FOUNTAINHEAD - 87.78m

FOUNTAINHEAD was delivered in 2011 by Feadship : an 87.78m yacht perfect for family use. She was created by De Voogt Naval Architects and Sinot Yacht Design, with Axel Vervoordt providing a beautiful blend of art, antiques and aesthetics. 

She exudes sophistication in terms of her layout, finishes and technologies, boasting an array of impressive leisure facilities including a gym, health club and contra-flow pool. FOUNTAINHEAD features six guest suites and a large Owner’s stateroom, alongside a recreation room and a library on the main deck that can both be converted into guest cabins.She also includes an array of water toys and two tenders to allow those onboard to make the most of their time on the water. 

CORAL OCEAN - 72.55m

Delivered in 1994 by Lürssen , CORAL OCEAN is a 72.55m yacht that includes every single amenity one would expect from a luxury vessel. She features exteriors by Bannenberg & Rowell Design and interiors from IBL Design. 

CORAL OCEAN has seven spacious guest cabins, a VIP suite and a main salon that has an opening shell door that creates a balcony over the sea. She can accommodate up to 12 guests and an impressive crew of 22, boasting a beach club, pool, sauna, massage room, cinema and gym. 

NENINKA - 67m

NENINKA was delivered by Amels in 2019 as one of its Limited Editions, with exteriors penned by Tim Heywood and custom interiors from Winch Design . She was based upon previous Amels 212 deliveries from the Limited Editions range, encapsulating modern classical lines whilst also adding a new stretched evolution to the elegance set by her predecessors. 

She can accommodate up to 14 guests across seven suites as well as 16 crew members, a standout feature of her design being a 65 sqm swim platform and beach club. 

HAMPSHIRE - 66.25m 

Launched in 2016 as VANISH, HAMPSHIRE is a 66.25m yacht built by Feadship. Her exteriors and interiors are penned by Harrison Edisgaard, boasting a modern and powerful exterior profile that is softened by harmonious lines. 

She features a range of standout elements throughout her design, including a free-standing staircase flanked by a glass wall over three decks, an extendable balcony from the Owner’s stateroom and a full-height atrium, these beautiful and intricate touches enhancing the sense of luxury onboard. 

AHS was built in 2005 by Oceanco , undergoing a major refit in 2019. She has a LOA of 66m, and features a fresh and contemporary design penned by Alberto Pinto.

She can accommodate up to 16 guests across six cabins, with a crew of 19 ensuring the most premium service on board. All spaces have been optimised for the guests’ use, as AHS boasts spacious cabins, expansive decks and an array of dining areas, both indoors and al fresco.

Alongside these five stunning superyachts, other iconic vessels currently docked in Monaco include 90m LIONHEART , 60m KATINA , 55.2m LADY A and 53.5m HURRICANE RUN .

The Italian coast guard has undertaken recovery efforts, the WSJ noted, and it’s being assisted by diving teams, helicopters, patrol boats, and marine-accident investigators from the United Kingdom. While the rescuers have so far only recovered the body of the yacht’s chef, they believe that the rest of the missing are trapped inside the ship.

“The space is very tight, because everything fell when [the yacht] capsized,” Luca Cari, the head of Italy ’s national firefighters’ corps, told The Wall Street Journal . “Divers are trying to remove furnishings, wires and other debris to clear the passageways.”

The group was aboard the yacht to celebrate Lynch’s recent acquittal related to charges that he had faked the value of his company Autonomy when he sold it to Hewlett Packard for $11 billion, the WSJ wrote. Bloomer had led the audit committee at Autonomy, while Morvillo represented Lynch during his trial.

Charter Yachts gather for Monaco F1 Grand Prix

Getting ready for all the thrill and action of the Monaco F1 Grand Prix 2023 , a dazzling fleet of 122 luxury superyachts are gathering in Port Hercules, Monaco ahead of the 80th edition of the world-famous street circuit race through Monte Carlo.

Heralding the start of the Mediterranean summer season, the  Cannes Film Festival began on May 16 and as the glamorous event draws to a close, the high-profile superyachts in town for the occasion begin migrating eastwards along the coast, making their way to Monaco in time for the next big date on the event calendar: the Monaco F1 Grand Prix . 

Taking place across four days from Thursday 25 - Sunday 28 May, the race brings the South of France alive and promises to be a thrilling spectacle for avid Formula 1 fans, with plenty of VIP social events for the SuperyachtSet to enjoy.

Demand for the Formula One event has proved so popular that every berth in the glamorous Port d’Hercules has been filled weeks ago, with only a few exclusive F1 hospitality packages up for grabs for those wishing to attend.

Things have changed this year as Formula One has taken control of who issues the berths, and with the number of applications massively outweighing the number of spots available for trackside viewing, only a selection of luxury yachts under 55m were lucky enough to secure a prized berth. 

As normal, the larger yachts of around 70m are berthed at the T-Dock whilst additional larger superyachts are berthed in Zone 2. This area provides charter guests with a much greater degree of privacy, yet they will find they are still surrounded by the electric atmosphere of the event. 

We take a look at some of the most exciting superyachts available for charter at this year’s Monaco Grand Prix.

The largest superyacht charter to soak up the atmosphere of this year’s Monaco Grand Prix is the 126m (414ft) yacht OCTOPUS . Bertherd further out of the port in Zone 2, charter guests onboard this Lürssen yacht will be able to experience the thrills of the race in total comfort and privacy.

Ferrari F1 Drivers Share Insane Holiday Photos Before Dutch Grand Prix

As the summer break nears its end, Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have shared insane holiday photos, marking their last break before the F1 season resumes at Zandvoort for the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend.

Leclerc's photos capture him basking in the tranquility of his summer break, featuring moments spent in the sea and relaxing on a yacht, which seems like a well-deserved respite from the demands of a hectic 24-race Formula 1 season.

Sainz was also seen enjoying an exotic getaway aboard a luxury yacht, where he engaged in swimming and other water-based activities. His caption, 'Fully recharged and ready for the 2nd half of the season,' hints at hopes of an improved form for the upcoming Grands Prix. With just ten races remaining with Ferrari before his Williams shift next year, there are high chances he will get back to fighting at the front, but only if the car allows him.

It remains to be seen how Ferrari will address the performance drop following a mid-season upgrade that has led to struggles with pace. Drivers have also reported a return of bouncing issues, reminiscent of the problems that plagued the cars during the inaugural year of the ground effect era in 2022.

Ferrari's recent upgrades have not met expectations. Despite staying competitive, the team has occasionally lagged behind its rivals in terms of speed. A double DNF in Canada severely affected its position, leaving Ferrari 21 points behind McLaren in second place and 63 points adrift of Red Bull at the top of the Constructors' Championship.

To bring the team back to form, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur said the team is in “permanent discussions” with Leclerc, admitting topics arise when both he and the team have made mistakes this season. He told Formula1.com :

“It’s not just about Charles, it’s tough for the team.

“After Monaco we had a tough sequence. In Canada we were not in bad shape. What is clear is the car is a bit more difficult to drive the last couple of events and the level of expectation of Charles is also a bit higher.

“It’s the life of a team, that you have up and downs. We have permanent discussions with Charles.

“He knows the situation on our side, what we do well and what we did wrong and he knows sometimes he did some mistakes.

“But we’re not in the situation that we’re trying to put the responsibility on someone.

“We’ve been working together for years, we know each other perfectly, we know we are pushing, we know we just need to fix things.

“We are absolutely not in the situation to finger point. It’s also where it’s good to have a personal relationship.”
