Fantastic Service – October 2017

Wanted a last minute week sailing in October but needed to get a boat from Kefalonia rather than lefkas. Found kefaloniasailing.com. but prices were almost too good to be true so was a little sceptical. From the point of initial enquiry to arranging airport transfer and then meeting us at the boat in person, the service from Spiros was fantastic and I couldn't rate him more highly. italiano / español Settimana indimenticabile, posti meravigliosi che abbiamo potuto raggiungere anche grazie alla guida di un bravissimo skipper (un ragazzo inglese che da anni lavora in quella zona e conosce ogni suo angolo paradisiaco) che ha subito capito il tipo di esperienza che cercavamo più intima e meno commerciale. Unica piccola pecca era il fatto che parlasse solo inglese e quindi le nostre figlie hanno potuto interagire con lui molto poco. Bellissime veleggiate e barca ben attrezzata. Ottima comunicazione con Spiros che ha organizzato tutto egregiamente, dall\\\'aeroporto in poi. Un sogno!! Semana inolvidable, lugares maravillosos que pudimos conocer también gracias a el skipper que nos dieron (un muchacho inglés que trabaja hace años en esa zona y conoce cada uno de sus paradisiacos rincones) el cual entendiò enseguida el tipo de experiencia que buscavamos, mas intima y menos comercial. La unica pena era que hablaba solo en inglés asì que mis hijas pudieron conversar muy poco con el. Hermosas navegaciòn y barco a vela muy comodo. Optima comunicacion con Spiros que ha organizado todo perfectamente, desde el aeropuerto en adelante. Un sueño!!

The bareboat charter was excellently managed. Spiros and Bouchra responded promptly to all queries and gained immediately our confidence to invest our charter fee way up-front. Having got to know them at pickup we were sorry not to have had time to see more of them - the beautiful weather in Kefalonia called us away immediately onto the high seas. The boat (Bavaria 46, 2015) was in immaculate condition, and we would warmly recommend the personal attention afforded by Spiros and Bouchra to any other prospective charterers. Great customer service and VFM – September 2020

I can’t recommend Kefalonia Sailing more highly. Spiros looked after us brilliantly despite very difficult circumstances. I think they offer the best prices as well. We originally booked on a flotilla with six people and two boats for the beginning of June. Covid put a stop to that, but Spiros was very happy to move the booking to late September. Then two of our party decided they couldn’t come anyway, but Spiros found us a boat for the 4 of us. A week before we were due to arrive there was a massive storm and some of the company’s boats were sunk compromising the holiday. Spiros found us another boat and attached us to a new flotilla. We had a great time while out sailing. They were fantastic from start to finish. Very highly recommended. (September 2020)

Explore historical Kefalonia

An impressive historical site is the Sacred Monastery of Agios Gerasimos of Kefalonia which has been named after Saint Gerasimos, who is one of the most important saints of the island and was declared a saint in 1622.

The De Bosset Bridge & obelisk were first constructed in 1813 by Swiss engineer Charles Philippe De Bosset, who built it for the British empire. It was built out of convenience to connect Argostoli with Drapano on the other side of the bay. Before the bridge was built, people had to take the route South in order to reach the other city, making this bridge incredibly convenient. The obelisk which was originally inscribed with a phrase praising the British empire, but has long since disappeared.

Learn more about the prehistoric and ancient history of Kefalonia in the Archaeological Museum in Argostoli. At some point in time the Romans were ruling over the island which you can witness in the Roman Villa of Skala . The preserved artistic floors give us a glimpse of what a Roman villa in this region looked like in its days of glory.

How far can we take the boat out?

The self drive boats are allowed to be taken three miles in each direction – to the left as far as Dafnoudi beach – to the right as far as the fish farms and across to Polis Bay on Ithaca.

How much would the fuel cost?

The self-drive boats have a full tank of fuel which is worth 70 euros.  On return, at the end of the day the amount of fuel remaining is measured and you pay for the amount used.

We are complete novices and not taken a boat out before is this ok?

Yes, you will receive full instructions on how to sail the boat and a map on where you can travel.

Is it possible to have a private trip for the day with a skipper?

Yes we have a variety of boats with larger engines that we charter with one of our skippers.  For a more detailed response please email us with  your requirements.
