Launched in 2021, the 49m/160.9ft superyacht ACAPELLA has summer celebrations in the Croatia luxury yacht charter grounds in mind, and there is more than enough to tempt guests with a wonderful selection of water toys, comforts, and the signature refined touch of design studio Salt & Water .

The interiors

The beautiful interiors from design studio Salt & Water are a contemporary haven for relaxation and comfort for all guests. The sophisticated monochrome colour scheme creates an environment perfectly suited to marking an anniversary as well as use as a home away from home. Detailing comes in the form of textured wood and stainless steel, which further accents the gentle wave-inspired curves and the vertical lines which create walls, and the 'horizontal' lines that are the ceiling lights for a brightly lit salon and dining area long after sundown. The salon layout includes a forward port-side wet bar and a widescreen TV integrated into the starboard part of the wall. The formal dining area is placed beneath the windows on the same side as the bar, and a plush C-shaped sofa and coffee table opposite and behind, beckon guests to lie back and savour their drinks while watching a film or chatting away.

The exteriors

For all the luxuries on board, there is nothing that can compare with being outside with the scenery and soundscape of the coast. The main deck aft is designed for alfresco dining with a large table for 12 that is suited to special occasions as well as everyday family meals. Sunbeds along the stern make a tempting place to rest in the warm summer air as the group digests the delectable multi-course meal made by the talented on board chef, while the foredeck has another broad sunbed and sun loungers for a change of views.

The flybridge is the best place for sun worshippers and social gatherings, offering plenty of sun loungers along the port side with a raised Jacuzzi forward and a bar side. Curved seating creates alcoves for smaller groups to enjoy more intimate conversation, all under open skies.

The water toys

Motor-sailer ACAPELLA comes with a selection of water toys. Guests can zip around reefs and explore farther and faster underwater using the Seabob, while the snorkelling equipment lets the group take their time to admire everything in detail. Floating mats, tubes and Ringo let guests relax to the sounds of nature, while the two paddleboards let couples roam along the shores. For an adrenaline rush there are inflatables towed by the fast tender, and guests can try their luck at catching a delicious fresh dinner for the group using the amateur fishing gear.

The accommodation

The Owners opted for fewer cabins that have greater space within, turning each into a private office and lounge as well as bedroom. The layout sleeps up to 12 guests over 5 en-suite cabins: 3 Master suites and 2 triple cabins which are decorated with the same beautiful monochrome palette and wave-like curves to create a harmonious sanctuary for every guest. Alcantara and inox moldings create interesting accents along the walls, and each en-suite bathroom is finished with wood texture tiles that contrast in colour for a beautiful mosaic effect. The crew of eight have not been forgotten either, and their separate crew quarters are more spacious than the average crew cabin. In addition, the Captain's cabin and First Officer's cabin are placed behind the wheelhouse for convenience and comfort.

Acapella began as a vision of a sailing superyacht and is a story of true passion and family tradition. To understand the story of Acapella you need to understand the history of the Gluncic brothers. Their great-grandfather first built a ship on Korcula almost 100 years ago, followed by their grandfathers and father’s tradition, brothers Niksa and Tomislav are building the 4th ship to be owned by family Gluncic.

From the age of 4, Niksa and Tomislav joined their father and grandfather aboard their ship Bijela Vila (White Fairy) in the ’80s, eventually, the entire family crewed the ship (mum, dad, brothers Tomislav and Niksa). In 2005, brothers Niksa and Tomislav brought gulet Andjeo from Turkey and finished it to perfection. Andjeo quickly became a symbol for impeccable maintenance, service, and repeat clientele. However, the brothers always had a dream of building a luxury motor sailer and so, Acapella is born.

The Gluncic brothers have spent their lives at sea and 15 years aboard Andjeo delivering exceptional service that kept guests returning year after year. So, it is no exaggeration to say that there is no comparison in experience and passion, as there will be aboard Acapella.

The crew surely was beyond wonderful. We absolutely loved them. The food was excellent and there was so much of it. The breakfast display on the table was gorgeous and the eggs were native eggs that were so good and cooked perfectly. The chef used a lot of local fresh ingredients and explain what was in season and where things came from which was also an added advantage.

Niksa’s family have been pioneers of Croatian crewed yacht charters and pride themselves on a 100 year-long tradition of shipbuilding and ship-owning in Croatia.

Super Yacht ACAPELLA encompasses sleek lines, modern interior design and wooden details. She provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere and the acme of luxury. But, notwithstanding her luxury interior, Acapella is truly built to sail.

The yacht can accommodate up to 12 guests in 5 spacious en suite cabins: - Three full beam master cabins with large windows, providing ample ambient light and excellent views of cruising areas - Two double cabins with an addition single bed in each

The sundecks are vast, offering plenty of lounging opportunities as well as a Jacuzzi on the flybridge. A hydraulic swim platform with a side opening system, gives easy access to the sea.

WEEKLY CHARTER RATE 2024: High season (15 June - 31 August): €98,000 + VAT 13% + APA 30% Low season (May - 15 June & 1 September onwards): €85,000 + VAT 13% + APA 30%

Weekly charter rates includes: Fuel for 4 h of the engine work daily, generator work 24/7, fuel for tender transfers to/from the yacht, use of recreational equipment, insurance of the yacht, tourist taxes and Wi-Fi.

Additional Extras: - One way charters are available with a relocation fee. Available for one-way charters between Duvrovnik and Split or vice versa, with no delivery fees - Crew Gratuity

APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance): APA is an estimate (usually 30% of the charter rate) paid with the balance for covering running costs during the charter. This covers the following costs, but not limited to: food and beverages for the Charter Party, port fees, marina fees and anchorages, national park entrances, fuel for tender operated watersports (donut, waterski, wakeboard, kneeboard) shipping agents’ fees, custom fees and charter licenses if cruising in Montenegro or Italy and other costs for services requested by Charter Party during the charter such as but not limited to hire or purchase costs of any special equipment placed on board at the Charterer's request, shoreside transport and excursions.Final accounts will be produced by the Captain at the end of the charter and any unused funds will be refunded in full to the Charterer directly. If the funds are not sufficient, the Captain will advise the Charterer accordingly and bills will be settled upon disembarkation.

CYBA/MYBA terms will apply.

Payment conditions: 50% of the charter rate within 7 days of signing the charter agreement, remaining 50% plus APA, at least 5 weeks before the beginning of the charter.

NIKSA GLUNCIC - Captain Niksa has been at sea for almost as long as he can walk, spending time with his father and grandfather on their various family boats. The Gluncic family has a 100-year history at sea and Niksa has never imagined doing anything else. In 2003, Niksa and his brother Tomislav bought Gulet Andeo and sailed with her in charter for 17 years; here, they built a reputation of excellence which moves with them to ACAPELLA. Niksa studied at the American College of Management and Technology, and has his Yacht Master certificate. Niksa speaks fluent English and basic Italian. He has a genuine passion for meeting people, sailing, and exploring new destinations. He is extremely service-oriented; going ‘above and beyond’ isn’t something he needs to think about, it is part of who he is. This is why Niksa isn’t a captain who remains solely at the helm, he is very much a face for the guests and a big part of creating the atmosphere onboard. Niksa plans to stay with ACAPELLA for the foreseeable future and is excited to sail different seas.

TOMISLAV GLUNCIC - First Officer Tomislav is the first officer and the other half of the dynamic duo that is the Gluncic brothers. Like his brother, Tomislav grew up on yachts, sailing with his father and grandfather from a young age. Tomi finished Maritime High School, has completed his Yacht Master certificate and has been at sea all of his life. Tomi worked with his brother Niksa for 17 years aboard their Gulet Andeo, delivering excellent service and building a long list of loyal clientele. Tomislav is knowledgeable, passionate about sailing, customer service, and he has a positive nature which is felt by all those around him. His ambitions are to stay with ACAPELLA for many years to come and he hopes to sail different destinations.

DOMAGOJ LAZETA - Deckhand After finishing school and gaining few years of experience working on motor yachts and cruise ship up to 100 ft, Domagoj decided to build his career in yachting industry onboard a large yacht. The sea is his passion as he spent all his life living at the seaside. Domagoj spent many years washing down, scrubbing decks and driving tenders, he has since refined his skills to a fine art. He is an excellent team worker and his goal is to continue to progress in his career as a deckhand, describing himself as dedicated, disciplined, fast learning and always looking for ways to improve. When not busy on board he is cycling, swimming, running but he is also passionate about photography, traveling and exploring.

VINKO CAPAR - Deckhand Although Vinko hasn’t grew up near the sea he has a great love for yachting so couple of years ago he decided to live his dream and passion and start working professionally in the nautical business. Before that he worked as a day worker in shipyards on different yachts where he learned and gained experience. From then all of his contracts were on commercial (charter) boats so Vinko is very experienced on working with guests and this season he hopes to make a career for himself on Acapella. In his time away from yachts, he enjoys keeping fit and has particular enjoyment playing tennis or hiking. He also plays guitar and has interest for IT and electronics.

LUKA ARAPOVIC - Head Chef Luka grew up on the Kornati archipelago where he learned about the best food. After finishing school he went to Opatija, the mecca of Croatian gastronomy, where he worked with some of the Croatian top chefs. Throughout the years Luka managed to serve in many renowned restaurants in Croatia. With all his experience, you can expect high standards of food, exclusively local, organic and fresh ingredients. Respecting the seasonal period and using only foods that nature provides us at the moment he can achieve a perfect taste in every dish.

SONJA RADOSEVIC - Stewardess Sonja is very motivated, precise and has an excellent eye for details. She always tries to think from the guest point of view so she can understand and predict their needs and wishes. Her ultimate goal is to provide the best possible personalized holiday. After finishing business school Sonja worked as a restaurant manager, brand manager, marketing manager and event and concert manager. She started yachting in 2018. and quickly found her way around yachts and guests because her previous work experience perfectly unites the high level of service required in yachting. Her career in yachting is short term since her wish is to start her own business in the near future but that just makes her more serious about getting the job done right. When not onboard of a yacht Sonja enjoys spending her free time with her dogs and creating websites, she also has a license in maderotherapy. Her passion are fashion and interior design. KLAUDIA GOVIC - Stewardess With education in hospitality and tourism, and eight years of experience Klaudia has an instilled strong sense of impeccable guest service, a good eye for detail and professionalism. Five cabins accommodate as many as twelve guests. Three opulent, full beam cabins each offer a walk around king bed, contoured settee, flatscreen T.V., and en-suite bathroom. Two guest cabins each offer a double bed and single bed.

Her capacious main salon features a plush lounge across from dining for twelve surrounded by large windows for plenty of light and excellent views. Floor to ceiling sliding doors lead from the main salon to the aft deck where there is a generous lounge and al fresco dining. Sun pads, sun loungers, and a large Jacuzzi are offered on the upper deck.

For watersports she has a 36 foot tender with 450hp engine, two standup paddleboards, tube, floating mats, floating tubes, amateur fishing gear, snorkeling gear, sea bob, and rendezvous diving.

A luxury superyacht like the Bayesian , which capsized and sank early Monday with more than a dozen people on board, is typically built to withstand extreme weather conditions, but not everything is 100% guaranteed, says one expert.  

Fox News Digital spoke with eSysman of the YouTube channel eSysman SuperYachts , to find out what could have gone wrong with the vessel. 

The host, who identifies publicly as eSysman, told Fox News Digital that a high-caliber yacht like the Bayesian, should typically be able to withstand up to "extreme weather conditions," but qualified that "there are always limits." 

"Obviously, any voyage plan will take into account the weather. Wind, wave sizes, and frequencies of the waves will be studied and precise prediction of weather has improved over the years, but it’s still not 100%," eSysman said, noting that it is ultimately the captain who is responsible for the vessel.

The Bayesian was notable for its single 246-foot mast — one of the world's tallest made of aluminum and which was lit up at night, just hours before it sank. Online charter sites listed it for rent for up to 195,000 euros – or around about $215,000 – a week.

Sicily's civil protection agency said that a tornado over the water known as a waterspout had struck the area overnight. 

British tech magnate Mike Lynch and five other people were missing after their luxury superyacht sank during a freak storm off Sicily early Monday, authorities said. 

Lynch's wife and 14 other people survived. Lynch was among six people who remain unaccounted for after their chartered sailboat sank off the Italian city of Porticello, near Palermo, sometime after 4 a.m.

"There’s always the possibility of survivors. This is why the search and rescue will keep going, no matter how slim the chances are," eSysman said. "But life expectancy in cold water is short."

If a vessel is caught in high-winds, eSysman, [they] will start their engines, and maneuver into a position where the wind is on the bow, avoiding the beam or the side of the vessel from being against the wind. 

"We’re not sure if the yacht was at anchor or was sailing. The eyewitness report seems to suggest the vessel was anchored in the bay, but the AIS data's lost position said she was underway, so we're not sure which is correct," eSysman said. 

"AIS" refers to "Automatic Identification System," which is a short-range coastal tracking system used on ships. 

Per its YouTube channel, the team at eSysman SuperYachts comprises all serving or ex-maritime professions, with eSysman himself having more than two decades in the industry working on various SuperYachts of all sizes "including some of the largest in the world." 

The crew and passengers of the Bayesian hailed from a variety of countries: In addition to Britain and the United States, passengers and crew were from Antigua, France, Germany, Ireland, Myanmar, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Spain.

The UK Marine Accident Investigation Branch is deploying a team of four inspectors to Italy to conduct a preliminary assessment. The Foreign Commonwealth and Development office said it was "providing consular support to a number of British nationals and their families."

Built in 2008 by the Italian firm Perini Navi, the yacht can accommodate 12 passengers in four double cabins, a triple and the master suite, plus crew accommodations, according to Charter World and Yacht Charters.

Early in the morning on Sept. 26, 2022, a series of powerful undersea explosions damaged pipelines under the Baltic Sea near Denmark that carried Russian natural gas to Germany. 

Fingers were immediately pointed at Ukraine, which had been at war with Russia since the latter invaded in February of that year. Ukraine denied involvement, and in the absence of reliable information, conspiracy theories proliferated about who attacked the Nord Stream pipeline.

Did a Russian submarine intentionally destroy it in order to cut off the gas supply to Germany, a country allied with Ukraine? Was it the CIA, as famed U.S. investigative journalist Seymour Hersh wrote? 

The German government has been tightlipped about the affair for two years, but this week, German media outlets ARD, Sueddeutsche Zeitung and Die Zeit jointly reported that federal prosecutors obtained an arrest warrant against a Ukrainian man. A Polish government spokesperson confirmed it.

The German reports identified the man as Volodymyr Z., a diving instructor who last resided in Poland. In a brief telephone conversation on Tuesday with reporters from ARD, Sueddeutsche Zeitung and Die Zeit, Volodymyr Z. expressed surprise at the accusations and denied involvement.

A report this week by the Wall Street Journal also pointed to Ukraine, suggesting the operation was carried out by Ukrainian soldiers and civilians with diving expertise and under the direction of Ukraine's then-commander-in-chief, Valerii Zaluzhnyi.

Journalists at ARD, Germany's public broadcaster, have been hot on the trail since the shocking explosions took place. I was one of the reporters who was part of the team that spent months piecing together what may have occurred. 

To understand what happened to the Nord Stream pipeline that day, ARD chartered the very yacht the perpetrators allegedly used and sent divers into the roiling waters of the Baltic Sea to see how the pipeline might have been attacked.

Group chartered sailing yacht

Several outlets have reported that in early September 2022, a sailing yacht called Andromeda set sail from the port of Hohe Düne in Rostock, Germany. According to the ARD investigation, the commando that was to destroy the pipelines was on board the Andromeda. The group is said to have consisted of six people — five men and one woman. Among them, it is suspected, was Volodymyr Z.

After stops in Rügen, Bornholm and Christiansø in Denmark, Sandhamn in Sweden and Kołobrzeg in Poland, the boat returned to Rostock. 

At some point during the trip, investigators believe the crew dove from the yacht down to the seabed and, in the darkness of the Baltic Sea, attached the explosive devices to the pipeline at a depth of around 80 metres. 

What happened later is well-known. At 2:03 a.m. local time on Sept. 26, 2022, the first explosion damaged Nord Stream 2. Approximately 16 hours later, three other explosions damaged Nord Stream 1. Investigators later found residue of the explosive HMX, also known as octogen, on board the Andromeda.

During our investigation, we wondered just how hard it would have been to carry out such a mission. 

The Andromeda is a charter yacht. Anyone can rent it — so we rented it, too, and took three divers with us.  

As with many charter yachts, the Andromeda was not in the best condition — our skipper called it "one of the worst boats I've ever sailed with." 

He said several electrical components were broken and that the yacht didn't move well in the waves. Then there was the swim platform, which the divers would need to get on and off the boat. If the swell is high, the platform moves up and down, punching into the sea. A diver trying to get back on the boat could be slammed on the head by the platform, causing serious injury. For us, this risk was too high. 

So we returned the Andromeda and chartered a professional diving vessel with a crew that usually recovers Second World War explosives from the bed of the Baltic Sea. 

We then drove to the exact spot where the first explosion happened — 120 kilometres off the German coast, with the Danish island Bornholm in sight.

Trained divers required

We arrived at 6 a.m. to witness a symbolic moment in the Baltic Sea. 

A Russian military ship appeared. Through our radio, we heard, "Russian warship delta echo, U.S. warship Yankee." The U.S. Navy was trying to make contact with the Russian Navy right before our eyes. How could a sabotage operation have gone on undetected in this environment?

The burst pipeline lay almost 80 metres beneath us, a depth not every diver could handle. 

You need to be trained as a tech diver. At that depth, you have to breathe a special mixture of oxygen, helium and nitrogen, and that means carrying about 220 pounds of equipment. 

It is also pitch black at the bottom of the sea. The multiple scuba tanks gave the divers about 40 minutes to find the pipeline, which means they needed to know precisely where to look. A sonar device was required to locate the pipeline beforehand. The Andromeda did not have this kind of device on board, but our new vessel did. 

Our tech divers found the burst pipeline on their second try and filmed it. 

The difficult part for the divers was returning to the surface. The pressure is so intense that if the ascent is not done correctly, divers could experience serious symptoms like paralysis or damage to their lungs. Doing proper decompression from such a depth — which requires divers to switch to a different gas mix — takes about two hours. 

Conducting a complex mission like that from the Andromeda would have been difficult and dangerous. According to the German investigation, it's plausible Volodymyr Z. was trained for dives like that.

Everyone who has examined the Andromeda agrees it's not the vessel anyone would choose to secure a mission. 

As our tech diver Derk Remmers put it: "I would use the Andromeda for a vacation, but not a sabotage mission."

Yet this could be precisely why the saboteurs used it. To stay undetected and unaccountable — which they managed to do until the charges were made public this week.
