Captain Drew Meyers: American Drew has worked in the yachting industry for the last 14 years and is excited to welcome you to WindQuest! He has been captain of WindQuest for 9 years since new. His contagious enthusiasm and intimate knowledge of the Caribbean islands help create a one-of-a-kind charter experience. Growing up in New England Drew was always around the water, however it was not until college that he discovered the world of yachting. He took a year off University and sailed with three friends from Cape Cod to St Maarten. It was during this adventure Drew discovered his passion for the ocean and decided to turn it into a career. After finishing his degree in Business Finance, Drew returned to the water and has remained on yachts ever since and was the captain of the very successful charter cat Matau. Drew holds a Master of Yachts 200 Ton license and is working toward his 500 Ton license. He is constantly trying to challenge himself and recently completed a 1500 NM trip using celestial navigation! Drew is an avid underwater explorer and is PADI rescue diver certified. Drew’s skills are not limited to water and wind, just ask him for his famous chocolate fudge sauce and find out! Fully Covid vaccinated Chef Robin Thompson Robin was born in N.Ireland where he grew up on his family’s farm before heading to England to attend university. Thirsty for adventure Robin joined his sister in Boston and sailed to the Caribbean. Once there he began work aboard one of the world’s largest sailing trimarans where he worked for three years, progressing from steward to cook. A chance meeting with another Captain soon brought him into the world of catamarans and gave him a chance to hone his cooking skills. After a year onboard Robin returned to Ireland to enroll in cooking school and acquired his Chef’s certification back in 2008. Returning to a life at sea, but this time on a new yacht, Robin grew his charter experience and his passion for both food and service. He also met, and began working under, Captain Drew Meyers. Drew and Robin have now worked together for 10 years and love being able to show you WindQuest has to offer. Robin relishes the chance to present you his food with style and flair and can’t wait to welcome you aboard to start your dream vacation. Fully Covid vaccinated Mate Will Robson: English Hailing from the UK’s South coast, Will grew up on the water and - as can be expected - has an immense love for life at sea. Before joining WindQuest, Will also attained a 1st class BSc degree in ‘Creative Music Technology’, and he continues to write music and dabble in filmmaking from the boat (you may even go home with your own video!). Fully Covid vaccinated. Steward Sean De Klerk: South African Passionate about service and a life at sea, Sean De Klerk has the position of steward on board WindQuest for 6 years. Growing up in Durban, a charming seaside town on the east coast of South Africa, renowned for its sailing culture and also boasting the largest harbour in Africa, his extensive background in fine dining and hospitality, coupled with the maritime ethos of his home town, it was no surprise that Sean was to end up pursuing a career in the luxury yacht industry.
Fully Covid vaccinated

Mate Will Robson: English
Hailing from the UK’s South coast, Will grew up on the water and - as can be expected - has an immense love for life at sea. Upon finishing high school, Will spent six months traveling around India and Nepal, before he ventured off to teach sailing in Greece. For the next four years - during breaks from university - Will would continue to return to the Mediterranean to sail and windsurf in various professional capacities. Before joining WindQuest, Will also attained a 1st class BSc degree in ‘Creative Music Technology’, and he continues to write music and dabble in filmmaking from the boat (you may even go home with your own video!). Fully Covid vaccinated.

Steward Sean De Klerk: South African
Passionate about service and a life at sea, Sean De Klerk has the position of steward on board WindQuest for 6 years. His fine dining and hospitality background has equipped him with an extensive knowledge of food, wine and cocktail service as well as a superb attention to detail concerning all things related to housekeeping and guest relations. His warm and charming nature contributes in a unique way to the personable and tailored experience that all guests have on board WindQuest. WINDQUEST // JFA Yachts
Jfa yachts from france delivered the first unit of the long island 85 sailing catamaran - the windquest ..
This fast cruising catamaran is the first of a semi-custom “Long Island” series. The hulls of the yacht are made of aluminum; the superstructure is made of composite.
WINDQUEST has a carbon rig and carries a sail area like a high-performance sailing yacht. The hydraulic winches installed on the flybridge are well-suited to maneuvering with a reduced crew
WINDQUEST has 2 x 380 hp engines and 2 x 27kW generators. At her economical speed, WINDQUEST motors at 8.6 knots with fuel consumption of 21 l/h and can reach 12.9 knots at top speed. The 16’ tender stowed aft of the cockpit is launched using an ingenious system comprising a retractable pole in the main boom. This is again a method of optimizing the weight without using a crane.
Numerous deck lockers allow the stowing of fenders and mooring ropes as well as all the toys (inflatable SUP boards, snorkeling equipment, wakeboard…). On this boat, a large garage opening on the aft platform has been provided for stowing four bicycles.
Outside, there is a large aft cockpit with a seating area on starboard and another one on port with a dining table, sunbeds either side and a day head. On WINDQUEST, the cockpit can be enclosed using removable panels of a see-through canvas.
The flybridge is the home of the outside helm and control winches, leaving room for a seating area and sunbeds.
Again to keep the weight of the boat down, teak decking has been used only forward of the owners’ cabin and in the aft cockpit.
Interior on WINDQUEST
The cockpit is extended inside by a seating area with a bar on starboard and a dining-room on the port. The helm station is set up against the bulkhead between the two indoor areas. The glass door aft, the large side portholes, and the front windscreen create a very luminous space down below.
A few steps on port lead to the owners’ cabin. The “must-have” on the Long Island 85! Stretching across the full beam of the yacht, this exceptionally large suite offers a superb view on 180°, never before seen on a sailing or even on a motor yacht of this size. A few more steps give access to a door opening on a private deck just forward of the owners’ cabin.
The Long Island 85 is available in 3 versions: 3 guest cabins and an office (like WindQuest); 4 guest cabins and five guest cabins.

History of Novosibirsk Oblast
Over thousands of years, the territory of the Novosibirsk region, due to its location on the border of natural zones and cultural regions (the Siberian taiga and the Eurasian steppe), played the role of a buffer zone or border zone of different peoples.
In the 13th-15th centuries, this land was the eastern outskirts of the Golden Horde. Later, until the end of the 16th century, it was part of the Siberian Khanate. In the 18th century, the territory of the present Novosibirsk region became part of the Russian Empire.
Despite the relatively favorable climate, the Russians began to settle here relatively late. The Barabin Tatars were the indigenous people. Today, their total population is about 10,000 people living mainly in the western parts of the region.
The Barabin Tatars were subjected to constant attacks of the Kalmyks (the Oyrates and Teleuts). Russian villages were also under the threat. That’s why people preferred to settle in the north, near Tomsk. Only at the end of the 17th century, Novosibirsk province became attractive to settlers.
More Historical Facts…
The first settlement was founded by the boyar son Alexey Kruglik in 1695. Later, this settlement became the village of Kruglikovo. Today, it is located in Bolotninsky district. In the early 18th century, Berdsky stockaded town was built. Over time, the threat from the nomads decreased and the number of settlers increased.
In 1722, the Siberian line of fortresses along the Irtysh River was constructed. The locals were mainly engaged in soil tilling, fishing and hunting. In the early 19th century, the famous Ural manufacturer Akinfiy Demidov constructed two copper melting plants here - Kolyvansky and Barnaulsky.
In 1893, due to the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway and the railway bridge across the Ob River, Alexandrovsky settlement was built (from 1895 - Novonikolayevsky). Thanks to its convenient geographical location (the Trans-Siberian Railway crossing the Ob River, transportation ways connecting Siberia with the European part of the Russian Empire), its trade importance grew rapidly. In 1909, Novonikolayevsk became a town. In 1925, it was renamed in Novosibirsk.
Before 1921, the territory of Novosibirsk oblast was part of Tomsk gubernia, from 1921 to 1925 - of Novonikolayevsk gubernia, from 1925 to 1930 - of Siberian krai, from 1930 to 1937 - of West Siberian krai. September 28, 1937, West Siberian krai was divided into Novosibirsk oblast and Altay krai. This date is considered the official date of the region formation.
Novosibirsk Oblast - Features
Novosibirsk Oblast is located in the south east of the East-Siberian Plain, in the steppe, forest-steppe and taiga zones, between the Ob and the Irtysh rivers. The length of the region from west to east - 642 km, from north to south - 444 km.
The southern part of Vasyugan swamp, the largest swamp in the world, occupies the territory in the north and north-west of the province. In the southwest, it borders with Pavlodar oblast of Kazakhstan.
There are about 3,000 lakes on the territory of the Novosibirsk region. The largest lakes are Chany, Ubinskoye, Sartlan. Novosibirsk Reservoir also known as “the Ob Sea” (1,082 sq. km.) was created for Novosibirsk Hydroelectric Power Plant.
The climate is continental. The average temperature in January ranges from minus 16 degrees Celsius in the south and minus 20 degrees Celsius in the north. The average temperature in July - plus 18-20 degrees Celsius.
The largest cities and towns are Novosibirsk (1,621,000), Berdsk (103,500), Iskitim (54,700), Kuybishev (43,000). Novosibirsk is one the largest industrial, transport, scientific, and cultural center of Russia, the third most populous city in the country after Moscow and St. Petersburg. It is also the capital of the Siberian Federal District.
In the historical part of Novosibirsk you can find a lot of preserved monuments of the Russian Empire times. The Soviet era is presented by numerous scientific and cultural attractions, as well as beautiful parks.
There are more than 500 deposits of various mineral resources in Novosibirsk Oblast (coal, refractory clay, peat, anthracite). Natural gas and oil fields are located in the north-western part of the region. There are significant reserves of underground thermal and mineral waters. Forests cover about 4 million hectares, more than 20% of the territory.
Novosibirsk Oblast is one of the most industrially developed regions in Siberia (metal processing and machine building, food, power engineering, non-ferrous metallurgy industries). Heavy industries are concentrated in Novosibirsk, Iskitim and Berdsk.
The regional agriculture specializes in the cultivation of grain, potatoes and vegetables. Dairy cattle breeding, poultry farming and beekeeping are developed. The production of flax plays an important role too. Agricultural development of the territory is not high (about 48%). In general, it has about 25% of all agricultural land in Western Siberia.
