The SILENT 80 luxury catamaran is a solar-powered model constructed by Austrian shipyard Silent-Yachts offering an LOA of 24m/79ft. The naval architecture is the work of Enrique Castilla from Insenaval while Marco Casali from Too Design created the interior and exterior styling. The flexible accommodation layout can provide for 8-12 guests over 4-6 cabins respectively, with a crew of four to provide stellar service throughout the cruise. The yacht's launch date is in 2020.

Each hull has a swim platform leading from the water to the main deck aft, and a hydraulic swim platform allows for the easy launch and retrieval of tenders.

The main deck aft cockpit is shaded by the flybridge overhang and contains a stern sofa and elevated dining table along with a port side wet bar and a starboard alfresco dining table and sunbed/sofa. Walkways to each side lead to the foredeck, and a sofa placed amidships allows guests to take in the views in privacy. The foredeck has a C-shaped sofa wrapping around two drinks tables where guests can take in uninterrupted forward views. A sunpad is placed either side of the seating, and the spacious bow can be furnished with sun loungers or left clear for a social event.

The flybridge is accessed via a port stairway and there is a C-shaped alfresco dining area to starboard and a helm station and sofa placed centre. A Jacuzzi is placed aft and centre, with the area directly behind left clear for sunbathing.

The hardtop is covered in solar panels and when the flybridge is not in use, it can be moved down to lie flush with the rest of the solar panels to avoid casting shadows.

The hulls host the guest and crew accommodation, leaving the central section for a shared social space.

The salon is comprised of an aft lounge, a formal dining area and a galley, with a wet bar nearby for drinks to suit the occasion. Full-height glazing tapers into smaller windows farther forward, creating naturally illuminated environments for any social occasion.

As a solar-powered vessel, there is no need for an engine room and the space is instead used to store tenders and water toys.

SILENT 80 Specifications

The SILENT 80 motor yacht comes in a standard 50kW cruiser version and a more powerful 250kW E-power version, the latter option capable of a top speed of 20 knots and silent cruising at 7-8 knots with a range of around 100 nautical miles per day.

Yacht Accommodation

The SILENT 80 luxury catamaran model offers a flexible accommodation layout and is able to sleep between 8 guests across 4 cabins or 12 guests over 6 cabins. The Master suite has a private office and in all arrangements, there is at least one VIP stateroom. The crew of four will ensure that every guest is well taken care of throughout the cruise.

SILENT-YACHTS, leader in luxury solar-powered vessels, is set to launch its revolutionary solar-electric flagship – the SILENT 80 3-Deck. With an LOA of 24.3-meters, and the yard’s most voluminous catamaran to date, this cutting-edge yacht is slated to make its debut this year, bringing a new era of responsible yachting to the world's waters.

“What sets the 80 Series apart is that it combines incredibly high levels of luxury and sustainability like no yacht ever before,” says Michael Kohler, founder and CEO of SILENT-YACHTS. “With bespoke design by Marco Casali and 26 kWp produced by the state-of-the-art solar array, there is ample energy to enjoy all the luxurious amenities on board with zero emission.”

Open or closed: Taking customisation to the next level

With the SILENT 80 3-Deck, prospective owners can choose between the 80+-square-metre open or closed fly deck versions. Described as “the defining feature of the yacht” by Kohler, this allows the owner to tailor their onboard experience to their personal preferences.

The open version offers a sprawling 84-square-metre ocean sky lounge on the fly deck, for those who prefer being outdoors with a closer connection to the sea. For those who value privacy and panoramic views, the closed version provides two options. The first option boasts an owner's suite with a staggering 360-degree view and an expansive 41-square-metre private terrace aft. On the other hand, the lounge version is ideal for those who cherish shared experiences on board. It replaces the owner's suite with a generous 39-square-metre dining area, complete with a bar and galley, while maintaining the same aft terrace.

Maximised onboard space

When compared to other catamarans in this size bracket, the SILENT 80 3-Deck has a strategic approach to maximise onboard space without compromising comfort or aesthetics. The boat offers ample storage for water toys beneath the cockpit, enhancing the overall functionality and recreational opportunities of the vessel and making it a dream for watersports enthusiasts.

“In the aft portside hull, the staircase can be raised to reveal a fully enclosed tender garage with a lift and launching system,” Kohler adds. “It fits tenders with a maximum length of 5.2 metres and has a direct charging point to recharge electric SILENT tenders.”

Silent Yachts is quietly establishing itself as a major player in the marine game. The Austrian-based builder, whose solar-powered fleet continues to grow apace, has just sold the first three Silent 80 Tri-Deck catamarans for roughly $6.7 million apiece.

As its moniker implies, this particular model is a triple-deck take on the yard’s flagship Silent 80 and is billed as Silent’s most spacious solar-electric cat to date. Designed and engineered by Marco Casali and MICAD, the multihull sports clean, straight lines, expansive windows and a distinctive flybridge that’s fitted with horizontal air grills inspired by supercars. Silent says this adds sportiness to the overall look.

The 80-footer is also equipped with an additional 970-square-foot deck that sets it apart from its predecessor. This space can be set up as an open-air sky lounge (open version) or enclosed and used as an owner’s suite, lounge or studio (closed version). Among the three sold, there are both open and closed versions and the latter will have a master cabin in the top deck.

Elsewhere onboard, the main deck offers a generous main saloon that spans more than 640 square feet, along with a galley, lounge and dining area. The lower deck, meanwhile, can accommodate four to six guest cabins and one to two crew cabins depending on the owner’s preferences.

Outside, the aft and forward decks feature sofas and sun pads for al fresco relaxation. Since there’s no big engine room hogging space, Silent claims the cat is fitted with the largest garage in its class. The vessel can hold a 17-foot tender, along with an integrated lift and launching system. The hydraulic swim platform could also potentially store a gyrocopter on floats.

One of the vessel’s biggest drawcards is its eco-friendly edge. It’s predominantly decorated with recyclable materials that are stylish yet sustainable. It’s also equipped with 70 solar panels on the roof of the flybridge that generate 26kWp of power. The green energy is then stored in lithium batteries to power the onboard amenities and enable the vessel to cruise at night.

The closed model.  Silent Yachts

Speaking of cruising, the catamaran is fitted with a pair of powerful electric engines that offer up to 340 kW each in the most advanced version and give the vessel a max speed of 20 knots and a range of up to 100 miles per day. That means you can sail silently sans emissions to pretty much anywhere you please without consuming fuel. (The vessel also comes with a generator if you’re in a pinch.)

“We are happy that the interest in fully sustainable yachting keeps growing,” Michael Köhler, founder and CEO of Silent Yachts, said in a statement. “Our latest orders are another confirmation of this trend for a much greener future.”

Indeed, the shipyard is currently developing an even bigger model and will release more information this year. It’s also partnered with Volkswagen to install the same electric powertrains currently used in VW’s ID.3 and ID.4 in an array of ocean-going multihulls. Like we said, major player.

Silent-Yachts, the specialist in solar and electric catamarans, offers the largest model in its range in a three-deck version. This is the Silent 80 Tri-Deck.

90 m2 of additional space

The Austrian shipyard Silent-Yachts presents the Silent 80 Tri-Deck the largest solar and electric catamaran in its range. This 24.30 m model is based on the same layout as the 80, 5 of which were already sold before its launch in 2020. The main difference of this Tri-Deck version is the layout of the flybridge as a living space: 90 m2 of air-conditioned panoramic space.

"The additional sky lounge is a very practical space that extends the period of use of the boat. The additional space of the flybridge offers new opportunities in terms of development" explains Michael Köhler, founder and CEO of Silent-Yachts.

Thus, the Silent 80 Tri-Deck is available with a sky lounge or a huge 90 m2 flybridge , which can be designed as an owner's suite with a private cabin offering a 360° view and a terrace.

A large living area and 4 to 6 beds

On the main deck of about 60 m2 and 10.95 m wide, there is a lounge, a dining room with a kitchen. The two hulls are reserved for sleeping and offer 4 to 6 guest cabins and 1 to 2 crew cabins. All cabins offer double or twin beds and a private bathroom with separate shower. Other development plans may be considered.

A very large garage with annex

With a space saving due to the absence of an engine compartment - since the multihull is powered by solar energy - the tender garage is announced as one of the largest in its category.

"There is enough room for a 4.5 m long dinghy, an amphibious car, and a float gyrocopter, which is impressive for a yacht less than 24 m long." comments Michael Köhler.

Customizable interior, contemporary lines

The interior decoration is fully customizable and made essentially from lightweight, recyclable and environmentally friendly materials, the brand's DNA.

This three-bridge model retains the lines of the range. Designer Marco Casali has given it a refined and timeless style with horizontal lines, interspersed with large uninterrupted glazing. The latter allow light to flow into the boat and offer a panoramic view of the outside.

To give its electric catamaran a sportier look, the manufacturer has integrated horizontal ventilation grids inspired by sports cars on the roof, which houses the solar panels .

Large outdoor areas

The rear and front exterior spaces are spacious enough to accommodate large areas of relaxation or dining. The aft cockpit offers an outdoor dining room and a bar, while the forward beach is equipped with large sofas and sunbeds.

Electric and silent propulsion

The shipyard announces that this construction on three decks has no impact on the boat's performance. This new model could reach 16 knots with a powerful combination of electric motors (2x250 kW) with a range of 100 miles per day.

Like the rest of the range, the catamaran uses a silent electric propulsion system for unlimited autonomy (provided the batteries are powered by solar energy ), without noise, fumes or vibrations. Several electric motors are available on request: 2x80 kW in a standard version and up to 2x250 kW in the most advanced version.

"The system works quite simply and practically maintenance-free", says Michael Köhler.

Almost unlimited autonomy and emergency generator

At a speed of 6 or 7 knots, the manufacturer announces total silence and unlimited autonomy by covering about 100 miles a day. The Silent 80 Tri-Deck has 64 solar panels designed to produce 25 kWh. The "Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT)" solar charge controllers and batteries - the same ones used by Tesla - should allow, according to the site, to sail all night long while a 20 kVA inverter provides power for all household appliances and appliances.

"Power and propulsion systems require virtually no maintenance and produce neither smoke nor noise. As a result, the operating costs of our boats are significantly lower than those of motoryachts using traditional propulsion systems explains the founder.

A generator is built into the boat , but it will only be used to recharge the batteries if a faster speed is needed for a longer period of time or in bad weather for several days.

The basic price of the Silent 80 Tri-Deck is ?4.92 million. Many options are included in the standard price.

The SILENT 80 Tri-Deck is an advanced version of the company's flagship with a sky lounge on the top deck (closed version) or a huge 90 m² fly deck (open version), which can be designed as an “owner´s deck” with a vast private suite and 360-degree view and a terrace. "We are happy that the interest to fully sustainable yachting keeps growing," said Michael Köhler, founder and CEO of SILENT-YACHTS . "Our latest orders are another confirmation of this trend for a much greener future. The first SILENT 80 Tri-Deck closed version will have a master cabin in the top deck, but a lounge or studio could possibly also be placed here on future units." Among the three SILENT 80 Tri-Deck models sold, there are both closed and open versions. LAYOUT ADVANTAGE AND EXTRA SPACE The additional sky lounge offers a very convenient space and helps to extend its period of use. The extra space on top extends social areas on board, while offering new opportunities in terms of layout. There is a saloon of about 60 m² on the main deck, benefitting from enormous 10.95 m beam, with a galley inside, a lounge and a dining area. The lower deck is fitted with 4-6 guest cabins and 1-2 crew cabins. All staterooms offer double or twin berths, with en-suite bathrooms. Semi-custom layouts are available on request. As there is no actual engine room because the yacht is solar-powered, the SILENT 80 Tri-Deck has the largest garage in the category. On port side, there is enough space for a 5.20-meter tender with an integrated lift and launching system or an amphibious vehicle. A gyrocopter on floats could potentially be placed on the hydraulic bathing platform. The interior of the SILENT 80 Tri-Deck is as much customizable as on superyachts. Since the SILENT-YACHTS’ heritage is about being green and eco-friendly, the yacht is principally decorated with lightweight and recyclable materials that respect the environment. FLYBRIDGE ADDS SPORTINESS The exterior of the SILENT 80 Tri-Deck follows the brand’s DNA. The designer Arch. Marco Casali made it look clean and timeless with straight lines of huge windows. They also allow abundance of natural light filling the saloon and guest spaces while providing panorama views throughout. Carrying solar panels, the flybridge adds sportiness to the look thanks to horizontal air grills inspired by supercars but with eco appeal. Both aft and forward exterior spaces are spacious to host large, yet intimate, social areas. The cockpit in the aft features a lounge area and a bar, while the front area is perfect for relaxation in the sun, as it is equipped with a sea-facing sofa and sunpads. The yacht is built using vacuum-bagged resin infusion to create a lightweight carbon-sandwich composite construction that has sound-and temperature-insulating qualities. EFFICIENCY AND PERFORMANCE Due to carbon construction, the Tri-Deck solution does not affect performance. The new model will be able to reach up to 20 knots with the most powerful e-motors combination and make up to 100 nautical miles a day at cruising speed without consuming any fuel. The new SILENT 80 Tri-Deck is an oceangoing solar electric catamaran that uses silent electric propulsion for unlimited range without noise or fumes and minimal vibration. It is self-sufficient and virtually maintenance-free. The catamaran is fitted with a pair of electric engines (150 kW each in a standard version, and up to 340 kW each combined with high efficiency carbon propellers in the most advanced version). TESLA OF THE SEAS As every SILENT yacht, the SILENT 80 Tri-Deck is equipped with solar panels from the brand SunPower which produce up to 26kWp. The yacht uses maximum power point tracking (MPPT) solar charge regulators and high-end lithium batteries from Panasonic, which provide capacity for all-night cruising, while the inverter available with up to 50 kW provides power for all household appliances. The energy production and propulsion systems require hardly any maintenance and produce no fumes or noise. Because of that, the operational costs of the vessels are substantially lower, compared to power yachts using traditional propulsion systems. The SILENT 80 Tri-Deck has a generator too, but this is only used to recharge the batteries in the rare case when higher speed is required for longer periods or if the weather is bad for several days. PRICING The base price of the new SILENT 80 Tri-Deck is 5.51 million euro . The shipyard is currently developing an even bigger model and plans to release more information on this project later this year.

Silent 80 Tri-Deck in demand

Austrian-owned Silent-Yachts has sold three units of its flagship Silent 80 Tri-Deck, while the first Silent 60 is close to launching in Thailand.

Silent-Yachts has confirmed the sale of the first three units of Silent 80 Tri-Deck, its most spacious solar-electric catamaran to date. The 79ft 9in ( 24.3m) model is an advanced version of the Silent 80 and the first three sales include a mix of both Open and Closed versions.

The first unit is a Closed version with the top deck used for the master suite, although the interior area of future units can be used as a sky lounge or other layouts. The Open version has 90sqm of covered living area. The top deck features solar panels forward and on the hardtop.

Designed and engineered by Marco Casali and MICAD, the Silent 80 Tri-Deck has a base price of €5.51 million (about US$6,700,000) .

Michael Köhler, founder and CEO of Silent-Yachts, said: “We are happy that the interest in fully sustainable yachting keeps growing. Our latest orders are another confirmation of this trend for a much greener future.”

The main deck benefits from a 35ft 10in (10.95m) beam and has a 60sqm saloon with a galley, lounge and dining area. The main deck’s exterior space covers 120sqm and includes an aft cockpit with a lounge area and a bar, while the solid foredeck has a sofa, sunpads, tables and open space.

The lower deck is fitted with four to six guest cabins with double or twin berths and ensuite bathrooms, as well as one or two crew cabins. Semi-custom layouts are available. Following Silent-Yachts’ focus on being green and eco-friendly, the yacht is principally decorated with lightweight, recyclable and environmentally-friendly materials.

The solar-powered yacht has a large garage, taking advantage of the absence of a typical engine room. On port side, there is enough space for a 5.2m tender with an integrated lift and launching system or an amphibious vehicle. A gyrocopter on floats could potentially be placed on the hydraulic bathing platform.

The yacht is built using vacuum-bagged resin infusion to create a lightweight carbon-sandwich composite construction that has sound-and temperature-insulating qualities.

Like all models by Silent-Yachts, the Silent 80 Tri-Deck is self-sufficient, virtually maintenance-free and uses silent electric propulsion for unlimited range without noise or fumes and minimal vibration.

The options for electric engines range from 150kW each in the standard version up to 340kW each combined with high-efficiency carbon propellers. The model will be able to reach up to 20 knots with the most powerful e-motors combination and make up to 100nm a day at cruising speed without consuming any fuel.

As with every Silent yacht, the 80 Tri-Deck is equipped with SunPower solar panels that produce up to 26kWp. The flybridge version with a retractable roof offers enough space for a dining area with a small lounge and a dedicated helm station. For owners who do not need the additional space of the 62 3-deck configurations, the flybridge version offers enough space and outstanding 360° visibility.

Silent 62 3-Deck Open

An additional open deck instead of the flybridge combines the benefits of larger catamarans with the compact dimensions of the 60 Series. The open sky lounge is a fantastic outdoor community space, equipped with a full dining area including a panoramic view and a superyacht atmosphere.

Silent 62 3-Deck Closed

The closed version of the 62 3-Deck further develops her character as a compact superyacht. Providing additional indoor space, the closed third deck is available in two options: a choice between a sky lounge or an exclusive owner’s deck makes sure it can be tailored towards individual needs.

Kite sail system

Adding the option of a fully automatic towing kite gives the 60 Series the opportunity to make use of the wind without shading the panels. Bridgedeck storage

Under the bridge deck, there are two spacious storage boxes for SUPs, surfboards, small RIBs or compact sailboats. Both of them can be accessed either from the aft cockpit deck or directly from the hydraulic tender lift.

Owner's suite

Being able to design the 60 Series with an exclusive owner’s suite on the 3rd deck us unique amongst 60-foot catamarans. The suite itself is fully equipped with an en-suite bathroom and measures 23 m² in size. It also gives direct access to the 36 m² lounge area in the aft.
